Fate Gold and Steel – Prologue

Suddenly there was a big fire.

It somehow occurred when dawn broke.

It brought ruin to the city turning it into a hellscape like those you would see in movies.

Seeing towering flames and buildings beginning to sink and crumble.

He felt very lucky to still be alive since only he was the only living thing in this hell.

'I live on… So I must keep living'

Those were his thoughts.

And so, he keeps walking forward trying to survive this crimson world despite it being helpless.

He doesn't want to become like the burnt people around him who had collapsed.

Despite escape being impossible he still has hopes.

And yet he fell.

Perhaps it's because of the lack of oxygen but his feet finally give up after wandering around aimlessly. He gazes at the sky hoping to see dark clouds covering it.

And yet what he sees leaves him at awe.

He saw Gold.

A shining figure with otherworldly brilliance that should be impossible to exist within this hell. And yet that being that shines like a star.

A being that can only exist in fairy tales was right in front of him.

'Beautiful'

Those were his only thoughts, completely forgetting the pain and hell around him.

If he could still speak, he would have uttered those words.

His hope and will to live began to grow more.

The beautiful gold walked past him revealing a man with a perfect figure.

He emanates a domineering atmosphere like that of a supreme ruler.

His aura of supremacy remained unaffected despite the disaster around them.

It was as if he was declaring that he was a storm greater than this hell.

Like a star so bright it will burn anyone who gets close to it.

Despite that he still stretched out his hands.

He tried reaching out for the only star in the sky.

His cries for salvation were heard.

As he manages to take hold of his crimson garb, he finally looks at him.

And thus, amber met crimson.

The fate of gold and steel intertwined.

"Ho? so it seems there are survivors among these flames after all, a child no less! Tell me your name."

The man of gold spoke with unnatural charisma.

Commanding the boy like a King would command his subject.

Any normal man would have been charmed as if they were cursed.

And so, the boy spoke despite being unable to breathe.

"Shirou"

The boy spoke the only name he could remember.

"Well then mongrel here is a blessing from me since you still cling to your life. You are still but a mere child brimming with potential. So I expect great things from you in the future since you are not destined to die here."

A distortion of space suddenly forms beside him.

A golden goblet comes out from the space, and he pours its contents to the boy.

Shirou felt some wounds of his body begin to heal.

He then sees the man leaving and he tries to follow him.

But despite being healed of his wounds a lack of oxygen would still take his consciousness.

"W-wait…"

"Do not be foolish mongrel. I merely bless you a bit but I never permitted you to follow me."

Those were the last words Shirou heard before he completely lost consciousness.

It was like a dream. And new wish emerges from the dream.

It was a wish no different from any other man.

A wish to become something beautiful.

A dream to become a star.

The curtain is then raised for the story of a boy who chase after a star.

"Tell me Gilgamesh, why did you help the boy?"

Asked the man wearing a priestly clothing.

Yet the man is anything but holy expressing joy to the great suffering around him.

Unlike the man besides him who adorned a majestic divine aura of gold which expels the flames around them from approaching. He emanates a malevolent aura that accepts those flames.

"I merely found myself a new toy that might be able to entertain me in this era"

The golden king answered with a smile.

"Are you sure he is worthy enough to have such role?"

"Don't ask such useless questions. Besides, the two of you are quite similar."

"Oh?"

Such statement from the king piqued the priest's interest.

It was then that Gilgamesh looked at the direction of the boy.

"He might prove to be entertaining not only to me but you as well."

The priest then looked in the same direction.

Kirei saw his once great enemy trying to save the unconscious boy that gained Gilgamesh's interest.

The expression he wears was now that of joy similar to Kirei's own.

He took the boy's hands with tears of happiness.

The man named Kiritsugu Emiya was now thanking the boy for surviving.

He was the one saved by the boy. A fact known to every spectator who witnessed it.

It was then that a golden light shine through the burning city and was then put into the boy.

"You see that Kirei? That boy's fate is tied to us in some ways. He will surely be one of the main actors in the next war. I will gladly test him to see if the current era can produce an adequate human in my garden."

The king declared with certainty ensuring the boy's life to be full challenges greater than most. While the priest only takes a single glance at the boy before they leave.
