Welcome back to Ashes of Midnight. Last time, after escaping Limbo, Cynder and her fellows fought off an army of Lilin demons, that had suspiciously been taken over by Malefor. Afterwards everybody has a moment to think about what just happened. Johnny Blaze betrayed them, attempted to trap Cynder with Mephisto to keep The Hunter's spirit as far away from the Parchment of Power, now within Ghost Rider, as possible. All in his attempt to end this once and for all. Spyro and Ghost Rider both swear vengeance on Johnny Blaze, though Spyro means it more metaphorically, and Ghost Rider does not. Ultimately though, everybody returned to The Abbey, unsure of what to do next. So, what's the plan? Read on to discover...
(Our tale opens with Nico Minoru and Blade speaking with Ghost Rider in a hallway, just as Cynder walks up, standing in a doorway so as not to seem like she's barging in on what's going on here.)
Nico Minoru: Stop being so defensive and listen to us, Robbie.
Blade: We're just worried about you, kid. That's all.
Ghost Rider: No need to be worried. I've got this.
Blade: I'm not sure you fully understand the situation you're in. The Parchment of Power packs a lot of evil in just a sheet of paper.
Ghost Rider: And what? You don't think I can handle it? I'll have you know that you aren't the only one who has a corner on controlling darkness. Just ask Sparky!
Cynder: (Stepping up, and kind of startling Blade, Ghost Rider, and Nico Minoru) We're just concerned, Robbie.
Ghost Rider: Concerned? You're starting to sound an awful lot like Caretaker.
Nico Minoru: Since when did you become such a jerk?
Blade: Since he started carrying that damn page, that's when.
Ghost Rider: Why don't you worry about yourself, Blade?
Blade: (Sarcastically) Whatever you say, kid. Why don't you go find Peter or something?
Ghost Rider: Maybe I will! (Sighs in frustration) I'm out.
(And with that, Ghost Rider leaves, storming off frustrated and leaving everybody even more concerned for his mental state.)
Nico Minoru: Well, we tried.
Blade: The Parchment of Power is no joke.
Cynder: Then again, neither is Robbie Reyes. (Sighs) Let's just hope he's right, and that he can handle this. For all our sakes.
Nico Minoru: If hoping's all we can do, then I guess we have no choice.
(As this conversation ends, Spyro walks up, trying to figure out what's going on)
Spyro: Everything cool with the Midnight Suns? I just passed Robbie and he's looking way more pissed off than usual.
Blade: Long story, Spyro. We'll get you caught up later.
Spyro: To be honest, I feel for the kid.
Nico Minoru: We all do, Spyro.
Spyro: I mean, he looked up to Johnny Blaze. He was the OG Ghost Rider, and then he just betrays us like this? It's... it's unbelievable really.
Cynder: I don't disagree.
Spyro: (Remembers why he came down here) Oh, that reminds me.
Cynder: Reminds you of what?
Spyro: I was sent to find you. Tony and Stephen are waiting for you. And it sounds like they need a conflict mediator.
Cynder: If those two are going at it again, we'd better get down there before Tony turns sarcastic again.
(And with that, the two head down to The Forge, leaving Blade and Nico Minoru behind, as our tale ends for today)
And that looks like a good spot to wrap up for now. So, it seems Ghost Rider isn't taking to the Parchment of Power being shoved inside his soul very well. Or at least Blade and Nico Minoru don't think he is. Blade seems to be the most skeptical by far. Thankfully, Cynder is there to balance things out, reminding everyone that while, yes, the Parchment of Power is a force to be reckoned with, so is Robbie Reyes. However nobody has too much time to ruminate on this, as Spyro comes in stating that Iron Man and Doctor Strange are apparently arguing about something, and looking for Cynder above all. And it seems urgent. What could this be? Are they making progress on their plan to destroy the Parchment of Power? We can only hope. But for answers, tune in next time to find out! Same time... same channel!
