Marinette stood on the path of the snowy mountain, her long hair moving in the wind, with her little companion, Tikki, floating beside her. "What do you think we'll find, Tikki?" she whispered. Marinette had not yet found a way for her Kwami to talk, but she knew once the Supreme was defeated, the curse would be lifted. Tikki cuddled her cheek then flew forward a little, and Marinette gave a soft laugh. "Okay, I'm coming."
Marinette was still going by her instincts, but this mental concentration was starting to wear on her. But she wouldn't give up, for the love of her life was somewhere on the end of the path. That alone kept her feet trudging forward.
Around sunset, they reached the same cave that Cat Blanc had entered, and Marinette could faintly smell smoke coming from inside. Just how deep had her Kitty run from his troubles? Would he be the same, or a completely different cat?
It was slow going in the cave, with its dankness and darkness, but step by careful step, Marinette plunged deeper in.
She hid behind a rock as she spied the light of the fire, and she peeked around the corner. Cat Blanc dropped another load of wood on the fire, and she gasped silently. That wasn't the cat she had last seen. She closed her eyes, knowing her bravery would be put to the test this time.
"Who's there?" Cat called, and Marinette peeked again around the corner. "Come, step into the light where I can see you better," he said. Demurely, Marinette did so, but held her chin high. "Why do you need to see me in the light, when cats can easily see in the shadows?" she asked. A slight smile hovered on Cat's lips. "Spunky. I like that. What's your name?" Marinette fought to keep her emotions calm. My Kitty, what has the Supreme done to you? "Marinette."
Memories flitted through Cat's mind, all happy, but when the memory loss potion, the memories were gone in half an instant. "I have no memory of a girl named Marinette, but its nice to meet you just the same. I'm Cat Blanc."
Marinette wanted to cry, but she knew that was useless. Small steps were the best action. "Are you cold?" she asked. "I'm a Seamstress, and I have an extra cloak in my bag…."
Cat nodded. "Cold, lonely and hungry." "Well, your in luck. The cloak will help you keep warm, I have provisions if I could use the fire, and though I'm not sure I'm good luck, I could be your friend."
Cat shivered. "Okay."
The cloak was warm, a soft baby blue color that matched his eyes, and he watched hungrily as Marinette stirred the stew and patted little cakes made from flour, yeast, and oil and set them on the hot stones to bake.
Marinette stared at his ring as they ate, even it had turned a white color. Claw did remember about the Miraculous. "Your earrings," he slid closer to her, brushing a lock of hair back from her ear. "Could they end my pain and suffering?" Marinette blushed under his affections. "Yes, but there would be a terrible price to pay. I'll get your back to normal, Claw, I promise."
Claw. Was that a nickname? "I don't know who you speak of, and what would you know of what's my normal?" Marinette suddenly was inches from his face. "Tell me, I'll do anything to help."
He saw his advantage and took it, cupping her cheeks with both hands. "Your Miraculous," his voice was chipped like ice. "Adrien, let me go! I have something better then any Miraculous could ever give you!" The pressure on her cheeks relaxed a millimeter. "And what is that?" Bluebell eyes met ocean blue. "A kiss." "Really, how-"
Cat was cut off as Marinette now took the upper hand, and as the lover's lips met, the ice in Cat's veins begin to slowly thaw and melt away. Oh, the warmth of her lips was nice. It was nice to be….loved.
They broke apart, still nose to nose, catching their breath. "May…" Cat rubbed his nose against Marinette's. "May I give it a try?" She nodded and closed her eyes.
Of course, he had to kiss that adorable little nose of hers, then pushed her hair back finding the shell of her ear, nibbling softly.
When he stopped a few minutes later, Marinette had her hands around his waist, and she frowned. "What's this hard lump in your pocket?" she asked, carefully unzipping it and pulling out a small vial and a small handful of seeds.
"I was going to plant some white lilies in memory of my mother," Cat told her. "But I'm unsure about…" a memory sprang to mind, a man hooded and all dressed in black. Cat jerked his head back. "What was the name of the name you mentioned earlier, Princess?" "The Supreme." "He made me drink from the vial, said it would make me well."
Marinette ground her teeth together, bluebell eyes snapping like fire. "Cat, The Supreme's the one who made you forget your memory and tampered with your suit. But now that we have the poison…" she shuddered delicately. "We can find the cure."
Cat rested his hand on her cheek again. "You can, Marinette. I can hold memories for an instant." "Well then," Marinette stood up, "Its a good thing I'm also your Lucky Charm. Blots On!"
Cat watched amazed as she transformed, now in a red-and-black polka dotted suit, with a white ribbon in her black hair, she looked even more beautiful then before if that were possible.
"Don't worry, I'll find the cure, my love," Toxinelle promised. They found each other again, curling up together by the light of the fire.
When Marinette went off to her room for the night, Cat stared into the flames. Not only had the Supreme hurt him, he had hurt Marinette for his own selfish exceptions, and he was going to pay dearly for the hurting the one he loved.
