JJ pulled back from the hug to look at Jayne again. "Rose is my grandmother. What are you doing here?" He asked her.
Jayne realized she had a lot to explain. "It's a long story. Remember my father? Turns out he wasn't really that." JJ had heard about Alistair and met him once.
"What do you mean?" He asked her, confused.
"It's a really long story. The short version is..." Jayne walked over and took Holly's hand. "This is my mum, and my dad is..."
"Robert Scorpio? That's amazing." JJ replied. He knew Jayne had struggled with her relationship with Alistair, feeling like he didn't care for her that much. The way her and Holly appeared, it didn't seem they had that problem at all.
"She's pretty amazing." Holly smiled at Jayne. "How do you two know each other?" Holly asked as Robert walked into Kelly's. He could tell something was going on and tried to keep a low profile.
"JJ and I were involved at one point." Jayne told Holly, she knew JJ wanted more from their relationship, and especially at that time, she wasn't able to give it.
"Yes, she means a great deal to me." JJ looked over at Robert. "There's a face I know. Hi, I'm Joe Kelly, Jr."
Robert shook his hand. "Robert Scorpio. Joe Kelly, Jr? Your dad's a good man."
"The best." JJ and Joe had a great relationship.
"How did you two meet?" Rose asked about JJ and Jayne. She was curious to know more.
"I needed some help, and as luck would turn out, I found a lawyer with a bit of a detective in her. She was a great asset." JJ gave Jayne a wink. He looked back at that time very fondly.
"I'm actually training to be a cop now, like I always wanted to." Jayne proudly told JJ.
"Really? That's great. I'm so happy for you, Jayne." The look JJ gave Jayne caught Rose's eye. Her grandson definitely had feelings for Jayne. The more she thought about it, the more she realized that Jayne was the one that broke his heart all those years ago.
"Thank you, we will have to catch up." Jayne really did care about JJ and always would. She had Chase she now had feelings for too, though she didn't want to send mixed signals. "As friends, of course."
"I would like that." JJ replied.
"Looks like I missed Jake. Can I buy you both lunch then give you a lift home?" Robert asked them both.
"Sounds like a date." Holly replied to Robert as she gave Rose a look. She knew they were both curious, but as she had from the start with Jayne, she was going to let her come to her if she chose to.
