Night falls on the land as two cats pad through the fields. Graystripe slinks through the path, aware that dogs might be lurking about, along with his apprentice. The roar of the Thunderpath can be heard as monsters drive about it during the night. The sky glitters with stars watching as the pair waits until it is safe to cross.
The rumble of the vibrations of the Thunderpath halted for a few moments. The gray cat waits with bated breath as the silence continues to linger. Looking at both ways down the Thunderpath no monsters with their bright lights are coming down.
Graystripe bunches his muscles and races to the end, his apprentice following closely behind him. They manage to make it before another monster roars past. The wind generated from the monster ruffles his fur.
Panting, they both continue onward to the entrance to the Moonstone. Looking up at the star dotted sky, he notices the moon is almost at its peak.
"We're almost to Mothermouth the Entrance to the Moonstone." He tells his apprentice as they walk on the soft grass.
"Mothermouth?"
"It's the entrance to the cave that leads to the Moonstone."
"What's the Moonstone like?"
He purrs, "It's a big crystal under the earth and it lights up with moonlight from the crevice at the top of the cave it's in. It glows in a swath of blue light illuminating the cave. But you'll see that for yourself once we enter."
Flicking his tail he beckons Cloudpaw to follow him into Mothermouth once they reach it. Since the half-moon is nearly in position to light the Moonstone. Entering the dark cave, he is unbothered by it, since he's been down here before, when Lionheart took him. Though he smells fear-scent coming from his apprentice.
He chuckles, "There is nothing to be afraid of Cloudpaw. The tunnel only leads to the cave where the Moonstone is and once we get there the light of the moon will chase away the darkness."
His apprentice's fear-scent diminishes somewhat and he was glad he could offer some reassurance to the white tom.
They both enter the cave with the Moonstone. It glows bright with the light of the moon, glowing in blue hues. Flicking his tail he encourages Cloudpaw to come closer to the crystal.
"What do we do now?"
He settles himself on the cold cave floor close to the Moonstone and lays his head on the crystal. "You do this and then dream."
"So we really can visit Starclan's hunting grounds?"
Purring he responds, "Yes. So come and lay your head on the stone."
Cloudpaw does as he mewed and lays down on the cave floor resting his head on the crystal as well. The white tom closes his eyes and with a smile he also does.
Fire blazes all around him. "Fireheart? Lionheart? Redtail?" he mews, but the roar of the flames drowns out his plea for any cat to be around him. The fire licks around him and he moves away only to singe his tail by backing away. In pain he leaps forward and looks around the fire. He coughs due to the smoke and his tail twinges at the pain of the burn. The fire rages on, its spirit so strong like it could never be put out. Suddenly a shadow looms over the flames, and he looks up with his amber eyes widened. The shadow is storm clouds, and the storm cloud fiercely downpour rain snuffing the strong fire. What remains is a ton of ash after the downpour is finished.
Startled, he opens his eyes and he pants. That vision was close to the dream he had before the journey here. But the storm clouds and rain were new and there was no sign of Fireheart.
Dawn light filters through the cave and Graystripe shakes his head. Sitting up he smooths down his ruffled pelt. The vision makes him worry for the future of Thunderclan and the clans as a whole. If the fire is them, then something is coming that will turn them into ash. Or maybe he's over thinking it, and it's something of that scale isn't going to happen. But why show him the vision? He isn't a Medicine cat. Maybe Yellowfang and Cinderpelt can help him decode it so he isn't misinterpreting what Starclan wants him to see.
Looking up at the blue sky through the hole in the cave, he just hopes that Starclan knows what they are doing.
