Chapter 502 Game Challenge

Bubblegum, her team, Dan, and the eight remaining Finn players entered the castle and found themselves in a large decorative hallway.
"Welcome to my castle." Said a voice as a there was a flash of light that temporarily blinded everyone for a few seconds.
When everyone's vision cleared they all looked up to see a pale grey man floating above them. The newcomer was incredibly handsome with piercing pink eyes, fangs, and what appeared to be three green snakes with red eyes fused to his head serving as his hair. He wore a blue shirt with a black coat, purple pants with black lightning bolts on them, a black sash, and black boots.
"I take it you're Count Nogrog?" Asked Bubblegum.
"I am indeed. I am the master of this castle and the boss you must defeat to complete this quest."
Bubblegum tried to fire a laser at Count Nogrog, but it hit a invisible barrier instead.
"Nice try, but that is not how this game works. You must make your way through the castle and to my throne room. Only then can we properly do battle and only there will you have the opportunity to slay me and win." Said Count Nogrog.
"So those are the rules?" Asked Neddy.
"Yes." Said Count Nogrog.
"So I take it you know why we're trying to win this quest?" Asked Bubblegum.
"I do." Said Count Nogrog.
"What happens if anyone else wins?" Asked Chicle.
"They can have whatever ever they wish in this virtual world or they could ask for something in real life if it's within the Gridface Kingdom's power to grant." Said Count Nogrog.
"Guess that makes sense." Said Bubblegum.
"Let the games begin!" Said Count Nogrog before he vanished in a flash of light.
With that said the team began to explore the castle to see if they could find a way up. After some walking they came across what appeared to be some kind of courtyard that was ridiculously enormous and had what appeared to be gardens and fields of corn and other vegetables.
"Well this is different." Said Chicle.
"I got a bad feeling about this." Said Neddy.
A creature that resembled a snowman made entirely out of corn, with green arms, black button eyes, three black buttons on it's chest, a black mouth, a ear of corn for a nose, and wearing a straw hat appeared before the the group.
"Howdy partner. I'm Rural Earl. Welcome to the Court Garden." Said the corn man.
"Court Garden?" Asked Turquoise.
"Hey wait...a second, aren't you a creature from Card Wars?" Asked Marceline.
"I am. There's a lot of us in this castle." Said Rural Earl.
"That's not good." Said Lucinda.
"We need to get out of here." Said Dan.
Before any of them could move there was the sound of trumpets playing as several corn themed knights riding on horses made from corn husks known as Husker Knights rode onto the scene along with some centaur themed creatures made of corn and corn husks called Cornataurs. The corn themed creatures galloped around and surrounded Bubblegum and her group pointing corn themed spears at them.
"Well this isn't going so well." Muttered Chicle.
More creatures from Card Wars began to suddenly appear and surround the team. Archer Dan the corn headed archer in green, Bad Rose the tough looking flower with stem limbs armed with a knife, Patchy the Pumpkin a pumpkin with arms and legs wearing a eyepatch armed with a carving knife, Lt. Mushroom a humanoid mushroom dressed in army gear and armed with a rifle with a bayonet, Sgt. Mushroom another humanoid mushroom in army gear and armed with a rocket launcher, and the Field Reaper a large muscular humanoid armed with a large scythe and a sickle.
"So what do you want?" Asked Bubblegum looking at the creatures.
The creatures parted to reveal another creature who appeared to be the one in charge. The creature was known as Corn Lord. He was a corn humanoid with a crown decorated with ears of corn, wearing a corn themed necklace, and sitting on a corn themed throne.
"I am Corn Lord ruler of corn and this area. My forces and I serve Count Nogrog and we shall destroy any who trespass here." Said Corn Lord.
The creatures readied their weapons as Bubblegum and her forces pulled out their own weapons and prepared to fight.
"Figures as much." Muttered Marceline.
"They aren't going to make this easy." Said Neddy.
"So if we take out the Corn Lord, will the rest of the monsters keep attacking us or will they just stop?" Asked Chicle.
"I think they'd still attack us even if the Corn Lord was taken down." Said Turquoise.
"We don't have too much time for this. I think I see a exit on the other side of the field. Let's fight our way through this place and leave." Said Bubblegum.
"Sounds good to me." Said Lucinda.
"Let's go!" Said Bubblegum and she and her allies sprung into action hitting the enemies in front of them.
Marceline sliced through the tips of the Corn Knights and Cornataurs' weapons with her axe, Chicle and Bubblegum blasted some of the Knights off their horses, Neddy used his psychic powers to knock some Cornataurs to the side, Lucinda used her hammer to send Archer Dan and Bad Rose flying through the air, and Turquoise used her powers to yank away Sgt. Mushroom's rocket launcher away from him and she took the weapon and fired a few rockets at the horde of creatures blasting a path through them. Dan and the Finn players formed a protective ring around Bubblegum and they along with the other members of their party took off running towards the exit.
"Stop them!" Ordered Corn Lord.
The Field Reaper let out a roar as he and several other creatures took off after Bubblegum and the fleeing heroes. Archer Dan fired arrows, while Lt. Mushroom fired bullets from his gun at Bubblegum's party, just barely missing them. The Field Reaper grew angry and hurled his sickle at Bubblegum's group. The spinning blade hit one of the Finn players in the back knocking him to the ground. Another Finn player ran back to try and drag his fallen comrade to safety, but The Field Reaper caught up to the two of them and swung his big scythe at them, striking the pair, and made them explode into light.
"No!" Said Dan as he watched his allies vanish from the game.
"We have to keep going!" Said Bubblegum.
The group reached the exit and went through it. As soon as they all passed a gate slammed down between the exit and the field area. The heroes continued on as the Field Reaper and the other creatures watched them leave. The Field Reaper and the creatures turned to Corn Lord.
"This is unfortunate. The enemy has escaped our grasp for now. You can not pursue them through that exit, but you have my blessing to peruse them using another." Said Corn Lord pushing a secret button on his throne.
A secret exit door opened up a dozen yards from the exit Bubblegum and her party had taken.
"Field Reaper, take some our finest warriors and chase after those players." Ordered Corn Lord.
Field Reaper nodded his head and he headed through the new exit followed by Bad Rose, Archer Dan, Patchy the Pumpkin, Lt. Mushroom, and Sgt. Mushroom who produced another rocket launcher followed him. The exit then vanished.
The remaining creatures recovered and regrouped as a new group of players arrived on the field lead by Wraithmaster, minus his horse and Ultimate Gamer. Corn Lord turned to the new arrivals and gave an order to his forces.
"Attack! Destroy them all!"
The creatures charged forward and the players met their charge. The two forces collided as they fought.
Elsewhere in another part of the castle, Bubblegum and her allies found themselves in a massive decorative hallway with three regular doors on the left, two regular doors on the right, and a gigantic door in front of them with five locks on it. Chicle studied the giant door.
"So it appears we need five keys to open this door, which must lead to the throne room, where Count Nogrog is most likely at. I'm guessing the five doors each lead to a key." Said Chicle.
The group looked at the five regular doors and noticed they each had a symbol on them most likely indicating what room was behind each one. There was a symbol of a toilet, which most likely meant the bathroom, a symbol of book, which meant a study or library, a symbol of a fork and knife, most likely the kitchen, a imagine of a treasure chest, most likely the treasure room, and finally a image of a ax surrounded by fire, which was most likely a forge and armory.
"So we got five keys in five different rooms and they're all probably guarded by some monster or something." Said Neddy.
"The question is how do we do this. Do we go together as a team and take the rooms one by one or do we split up into teams that each takes a room?" Said Chicle.
"That cornfield was pretty crazy, so who knows what's waiting in those rooms." Said Turquoise.
Bubblegum checked her watch and saw that over ten minutes had passed and the bridge was probably repaired. Other players were probably in the castle trying to make their way to Count Nogrog and slay him.
"Going as a group into each room, would probably be safer and maybe quicker, but the other players are already inside the castle making their way to the throne room. This big door in front of us is probably not the only way into the throne room. We need to split up into teams to get the keys fast. I have faith we can do this in a quick amount of time and we can defeat whatever challenges lie behind these doors." Said Bubblegum.
"So how do we decide who goes where?" Asked Lucinda.
Bubblegum and her companions studied the door symbols to make a strategy.
"Alright I think I have a plan. Turquoise will take the bathroom, since she has water powers and one of the Finn players will go with her. I and Neddy will take the study since it might involve some form of knowledge and studying. Chicle will take the kitchen, because he is smart and I know he helps out around in the kitchens at home, so he knows his way around and a Finn player will go with him. Lucinda will take the treasure room, since she has good senses and Marceline will take the armory and forge because of her skills and weapons and tolerance for heat. Dan and the other Finn Players will remain behind and guard the door from other players and enemies." Said Bubblegum.
"Sounds logical enough. Let's get to it." Said Chicle.
With that said the group headed their separate ways ready to face whatever challenges lied before them.
Back in the cornfield area, the players had defeated all the corn creatures and all that was left was the Corn Lord. The ruler of the area realized he needed to summon his strongest creature if had an chance of beating these players. Corn Lord clapped his hands and there was a flash of light. A giant three headed corn creature known as the Husker Colossus appeared towering above the players armed with a giant corn stalk club. The Husker Colossus let out a might roar at the player who charged it. The giant swung his club taking out a majority of the players out with it.
"Behold the might of the Husker Colossus! You players don't stand a chance!" Declared Corn Lord.
"Finally a worthy challenge." Said Wraithmaster.
"I was afraid this quest was going to be easy." Said Ultimate Gamer.
Wraithmaster slammed his sword into the ground causing dozens of spikes to shoot up out of the ground stabbing the Husker Colossus in the foot! The Husker Colossus bellowed in both pain and rage as it doubled over. Ultimate Gamer stepped forward as two cannons appeared on his shoulders and fired at the creature hitting it and knocking it to the ground. The Husker Colossus managed to stagger to it's knees and tried to swing his club at the two players, but Wraithmaster stepped forward as he enlarged his sword making it bigger as he struck the club out of Husker Colossus's hand. Wraithmaster master swung his sword again and the hand that had held the club was chopped off! Ultimate Gamer leaped forward and sliced the Husker Colossus's right head off! Wraithmaster sliced the Husker Colossus's left head off! And then the two of them stabbed the Husker Colossus's central head and killed the creature making it exploded into popcorn!
"Impossible!" Cried Corn Lord in shock.
"Oh it's very possible, when you're the two best gamers in all of Ooo!" Said Ultimate Gamer as he walked to the throne and swung his sword at the ruler.
Both the throne and Corn Lord fell to the ground in pieces. The remains then vanished in a flash of light leaving nothing behind but Corn Lord's necklace that turned into a key. Ultimate Gamer picked up the key to examine it as a locked gat suddenly appeared a few yards away.
"You did it! That key must be a part of a way to Count Nogrog. We can go beat him now!" Said a surviving player.
"Yes we can do that, but by we, I mean Ultimate Gamer and myself." Said Wraithmaster.
"What?" Asked another player.
Wraithmaster slammed his sword into the ground summoning spikes that instantly impaled and killed the other players. When that was done Wraithmaster and Ultimate Gamer headed to the gate and opened it with the key before continuing on with the quest.
The race to Count Nogrog was on.
