Uranus stood at the edge of the solar system, clutching her Space Sword so tightly the metal dug into her skin, drawing blood. As Silver Millennium crumbled, the agony tearing through her heart overshadowed the pain. The once-gleaming crystal spires of the Moon Palace now lay shattered, their broken shards reflecting the flames that consumed the kingdom. The screams of the dying carried across the vast emptiness of space, each cry a dagger to her heart. Everywhere, dead stone stretched out, devouring everything it touched.
She had to watch helplessly as her beloved Princess Serenity faced those horrors alone, forbidden to interfere. The wind whipped around her, carrying the acrid scent of destruction and the metallic tang of blood, even across the vast distances of space.
These past weeks had been hell. No, beyond hell. There was no equal to the suffering she'd endured, watching the slow decline of Silver Millennium. The wind had told her the truth long before the first attack. Even before the conflict started, the tremendous wind storms that tormented her planet spoke of the future. Silver Millennium would fall. And she'd have to watch.
"Serenity," she whispered, her voice breaking. The name of the princess she'd sworn to protect from afar hung in the air like a prayer and a curse.
From here, she could see it all—the battles, the bloodshed, the fall of a kingdom that had stood for millennia. And there, in the midst of it all, was Princess Serenity, her golden hair a beacon in the chaos. Uranus clutched her chest, the memories washing over her like a tidal wave.
"Do you remember," Uranus choked back tears, her mind drifting to happier times, "when you first came to my castle? You were just a toddler then, all wide eyes and curious smiles. When you took my hand for the first time, your touch was so gentle, yet powerful. I felt the winds calm at your presence. I don't think I ever told you that."
The wind howled its mournful call through the desolate castle, echoing her grief.
"I'll never forget how your eyes sparkled with that mischievous hope. How your laughter chased away the fiercest storms, the most bitter loneliness. You brought light to my solitary world, Serenity."
Her gaze snapped back to the present, to the devastation unfolding before her. The stark contrast between her memories and the current reality was almost too much to bear.
"And now... now you're..."
No. She had to face reality.
"Dead."
The word hung in the air, as final and unforgiving as the destruction she witnessed. If only she could have been there to protect her. But she couldn't. She was Uranus, guardian of the wind, the steward of Planet Uranus. Her duty was to protect Silver Millennium from outside threats. It was only bad luck or twisted fate that the Dark Kingdom was a threat from the inside. Therefore, Queen Serenity didn't permit her to help.
"Damn it all!" She screamed into the wind, her voice vanishing before it could be acknowledged. "What's the point of all this power if I can't use it to save her?"
Hot tears streamed down her face as the flash of Princess Serenity's star seed streaked past her. The silver shining so brightly it could have been a second sun. Prince Endymion's radiant golden star seed hovered close by, still protecting her during its final journey.
Time almost seemed to slow as it arced past. The light flickered and winked as it passed, a final farewell from the princess she had loved from afar. Uranus broke, collapsing onto the unforgiving stone with a tremendous sob. A fearsome gale whipped about, tearing at her clothes and burning the tears on her flesh.
"I should have been there. I should have protected you. What use is a guardian who can't guard?"
"You know that wasn't possible," Neptune spoke, her voice coming from the unknown shadows. "Our duty lies elsewhere, as painful as it may be."
"We are cursed and blessed to hold a special task," Pluto said, her voice echoing from nowhere and everywhere. "To stand as the last line of defense, to face threats beyond the inner planets. Even if it means watching those we love fall."
Uranus clenched her fists, the weight of their shared burden pressing down on her. "And what good is that task now? When everything we sought to protect lies in ruins?"
The wind carried no answer, only the distant echoes of a dying kingdom and the weight of a duty that had never felt so heavy.
Uranus lifted her gaze to the stars, her eyes searching for the familiar blue of Neptune's world. Even across the vast distances of space, she could feel her partner's anguish, a mirror of her own pain.
"Neptune," she whispered, her voice carried by the wind. "Are you watching this, too?"
As if in response, the Space Sword pulsed, resonating with a distant power. Uranus knew, without seeing, that Neptune stood on the shores of her world, the Deep Aqua Mirror in her hands, witnessing the same devastation.
On the aquamarine shores of her world, Neptune stood motionless, the violent waves crashing against the cliffs below, mirroring the turmoil in her heart. The ocean roared and lashed out, rebelling and churning. It was taking everything in her power to keep it from demolishing her palace.
She felt Uranus's call like a whisper in the wind, faint but unmistakable. "Yes, my love," she murmured, her fingers tightening around the Deep Aqua Mirror. "I see it all."
The devastation reflected in the waters surrounding her, each ripple carrying images of destruction, death, and despair. The crumbling spires of the Crystal Palace, the stone devouring hope, the corpses of fallen soldiers—all mirrored in the glassy surface of her seas.
"How far we've fallen," Neptune said, her voice carrying both elegance and bitter anger. "We thought ourselves so advanced, and yet we crumble like sand castles before the tide."
Her gaze shifted to the sky, where she knew Uranus watched from her distant post. They were together in their solitude, united in their helplessness.
"Serenity," Neptune breathed, her composure cracking for a moment. "Do you remember, Uranus? The first time she saw the ocean?"
Across the solar system, Uranus closed her eyes, the memory washing over her like a gentle breeze. "She was so small," she replied, though Neptune couldn't hear her. "So full of wonder."
Neptune continued, unaware of Uranus's response but feeling their shared grief. "She called it the biggest, prettiest mirror she'd ever seen. That day, I placed a violin in her hands for the first time."
The memory brought a bittersweet smile to Neptune's lips, the image of Serenity's joy mingling with the crushing grief of her loss. The princess's laughter, once a source of pure happiness, now echoed hauntingly in the empty halls of her palace.
"You brought such light into our lives," Neptune whispered, her tears falling into the mirror, distorting the image of death. "We never told you how much your visits meant to us, how your spirit lifted ours."
The ocean roared outside, a cacophony of grief that matched the storm within her soul. Her elegant composure crumbled, and she sank to her knees, clutching the mirror to her chest as if it could somehow bring Serenity back.
"I should have been there," she cried, her voice a raw wound in the silence of her palace. "We should have protected you. Forgive us. Forgive us for not being there."
Anger, cold and sharp, surged through her. The seas responded, waves rising to impossible heights before crashing down with earth-shattering force. Rock crumbled before the onslaught, fleeing before the crushing anger of the wild seas.
"Is this truly our duty?" she hissed, knowing Uranus would be asking the same question. "To stand idle as everything we love is destroyed?"
The mirror in her hands pulsed, showing her glimpses of darkness, rebirth, and battles yet to come. She wanted to throw it away, to chuck it into the sea, never to be seen again.
"So be it," she said, her voice as frigid as the deepest ocean trenches. "If this is the path that fate has chosen, then we'll endure. We'll prove that fate cannot dictate our lives."
As Serenity's star seed streaked across the sky, Neptune raised her mirror in a final salute, knowing Uranus would be doing the same with her Space Sword. "Farewell, dear princess. May the tides of time bring us together again."
The seas roared their own goodbye, a symphony of grief and rage that echoed across the solar system. And still, Neptune stood tall, a solitary figure against the impending darkness, as elegant and unbreakable as the seas themselves.
Across the void of space, Uranus stood in silent solidarity, her Space Sword raised in a matching salute. Together, yet apart, they bore witness to the end of an era, their hearts beating as one in the face of unimaginable loss.
As Neptune's anguish echoed across the cosmos, reverberating through the fabric of space-time itself, another figure stood alone, bearing witness to the fall of an era.
Pluto stood sentinel at the Door of Space and Time, her Garnet Rod gripped so tightly that her knuckles turned white. The misty expanse of the fourth dimension stretched out before her, an endless sea of white, fluffy clouds that shifted and swirled with the ebb and flow of temporal currents. In the far distance, a storm brewed, flashes of lightning illuminating the temporal disturbances caused by the fall of Silver Millennium.
The air around her crackled with energy, each bolt of lightning sending shockwaves through the timeless realm. The ground beneath her feet trembled, reality itself struggling to maintain cohesion in the face of such monumental change. Pluto could taste the metallic tang of time's flux on her tongue, feel the weight of centuries pressing down on her shoulders.
Unlike her fellow Outer Guardians, whose anguish she could feel rippling through the dimensions, Pluto's face remained calm, her garnet eyes reflecting the wisdom of countless millennia. She watched the destruction of the Moon Kingdom not just in the present, but across the tapestry of time itself.
A single tear slid down her cheek, leaving a trail of warmth on her otherwise cool skin. It was not a tear of despair, but one of acceptance. Of understanding the ebb and flow of time. She knew that this sorrow was but a thread in a larger tapestry, one that would eventually lead to rebirth and renewal.
"And so it begins," she murmured, her voice steady despite the tempest of emotions swirling within her. "The end that heralds a new beginning."
Images flashed before her eyes, each one sending a jolt through her body: Princess Serenity's fall, the rise of the Dark Kingdom, the devastation of Earth and the Moon. But beyond that, she saw glimpses of hope—rebirth, new battles, growth, and love yet to come. Each vision caused her heart to race, her breath to catch, as the weight of future possibilities pressed upon her.
"Serenity," she whispered, her voice carrying through the timeless void. The image of the young princess, so full of life and promise, flickered in her mind. She could see Serenity's laughter, her bright eyes, and the boundless love she held for those around her. Pluto's hand instinctively reached out, as if to touch the ephemeral vision, before falling back to her side.
"The future holds hope," she murmured, her gaze fixed on the distant storm. Her fingers tightened around the Garnet Rod, drawing strength from its familiar weight. "This is not the end, but a new beginning. You will rise again, Serenity. You and all those you love."
Pluto closed her eyes, feeling the currents of time swirl around her. Uranus's rage and Neptune's sorrow echoed through the dimensions, their pain a tangible force that threatened to overwhelm her. Her body tensed, muscles straining against the onslaught of their shared anguish.
"My friends," she spoke to the swirling mists, knowing her words would never reach them. Her voice cracked slightly, betraying the emotion she fought to contain. "If only you could see what I see. This end is but a prelude to a greater story."
The storm in the distance grew closer, the clouds darkening with the weight of changing timelines. The wind picked up, whipping Pluto's hair around her face, carrying with it the scent of ozone and possibility. She stood firm, her resolve unshaken, even as the tempest raged around her.
"Usagi, Small Lady," she said, a soft smile touching her lips. Her eyes glistened with unshed tears, not of sorrow, but of the bittersweet knowledge of trials and triumphs to come. "You will both face hardships, but you will also know joy beyond measure. You will love, you will fight, you will grow. And one day, you will both shine brighter than you ever have before."
She raised her Garnet Rod, its orb glowing with power. In its depths, she saw flashes of the future. A girl with odango hair running through Tokyo, a team of guardians standing against new threats, love blooming in the midst of battle. Each vision sent a surge of warmth through her body, hope blossoming in her chest.
"This is not the end," Pluto declared to the swirling mists of time, her voice ringing with conviction. "It is a pause, a breath between chapters. The story of the Moon Kingdom, of Princess Serenity, of all of us. It is far from over."
As the star seeds of Serenity and Endymion streaked past her timeless domain, Pluto bowed her head in respect. Her body trembled slightly, the weight of the moment pressing down upon her. "Safe journey, my princess, my prince. Until we meet again."
The storm finally reached her, temporal winds whipping around her form with furious intensity. But Pluto stood unwavering, a fixed point in the chaos of time and space. She was the guardian of the door, the keeper of time, the lone sentinel who would watch over the flow of history until the day came for rebirth.
And she would wait, however long it took, for the moment when a young girl would awaken to her destiny, and the story would begin anew. In that quiet resolve, in that unshakeable hope, Pluto found her strength. The future was bright, and she would be there to see it unfold.
Pluto inhaled, feeling the vibrations. It was time.
The Deep Aqua Mirror pulsed in Neptune's hands, its surface rippling like a turbulent sea. She barely managed to keep a hold of it as it burst into brilliant aquamarine light, so intense it seemed to liquefy the surrounding air. The light coalesced into tendrils that wrapped around her arms, sinking into her skin with an icy burn. Vision flooded her mind, making it hard to breathe, overwhelming her senses with the roar of the cosmic ocean.
The Space Sword trembled in Uranus's grasp, its blade humming with building energy. Without warning, it erupted in a tornado of golden light, the force nearly tearing it from her hands. Wind howled around her, carrying whispers of ancient prophecies and future battles. The sword's edge seemed to cut through reality itself, leaving shimmering gashes in the fabric of space-time.
The Garnet Orb atop Pluto's rod flared to life, bathing her in a deep crimson light. Time seemed to freeze, then fracture, shards of past, present, and future swirling around her in a dizzying kaleidoscope. The rod extended, growing to impossible lengths, its tip piercing through dimensions. Pluto didn't resist the weight of eons that pressed down upon her as every moment in history flowed through her body.
The Deep Aqua Mirror began to vibrate harder, emitting a haunting melody that resonated with the very core of her being. As the song reached a crescendo, the mirror's surface shattered into a thousand glittering shards, each one reflecting a different facet of time and space. The fragments swirled in a dazzling hurricane of light and sound before coalescing back into the mirror, now glowing with an otherworldly power.
As the maelstrom intensified, Uranus felt her feet leave the ground, suspended in a vortex of pure energy. The sword's light penetrated her body, igniting every cell with the raw power of the sky. In that moment, she was one with the wind, the planets, the very cosmos itself. When the light finally faded, the Space Sword pulsed with newfound power, ready to cleave through any obstacle.
Reality warped around her, the misty expanse of the Time Gate twisting into impossible geometries. The Garnet Orb pulsated, each beat sending out waves of temporal energy that rippled across existence. As the power reached its peak, Pluto saw all of time laid out before her like an infinite tapestry. The rod contracted back to its normal size, now thrumming with the power to manipulate the very fabric of time itself.
Across the galaxy and through the corridors of time and space, brilliant light erupted from the talismans.
The universe held its breath.
A profound silence fell across the solar system. The storms on Uranus stilled, Neptune's seas became glass-smooth, and even the swirling mists of time around Pluto's gate froze in place.
Then, from the depths of space, a violet light blossomed.
It started as a pinprick, barely noticeable against the backdrop of stars. But it grew, swelling with terrifying speed into a supernova of purple radiance. The light pulsed, each throb sending shockwaves of energy rippling through space, distorting the very fabric of reality.
At the heart of this cosmic chaos, a figure emerged.
Saturn, Solider of Destruction, Harbinger of Silence.
The glaive in her hands gleamed with a twisted sheen, the metal both reflecting and absorbing all light around her. Its blade sharp enough to cleave planets. Her eyes, ancient and sorrowful, held the weight of countless worlds' ends.
As she descended towards the ruined Moon Kingdom, reality warped around her. In her wake, stars winked out of existence. Planets in her path crumbled to dust. The very laws of physics bent and broke in her presence.
Neptune and Uranus watched in awe, and terror as Saturn approached. Pluto only tipped her head, acknowledging a creature as feared and powerful as herself. They could feel the raw power emanating from her, a force so primal and absolute it defied comprehension. This was the power to end everything, to wipe the slate of existence clean.
Saturn hovered above the surface of the moon, and the dead stone beneath her cracked and splintered. Her voice, when she spoke, resonated with the finality of collapsing stars:
"The time has come. This era must come to an end."
She raised her Silence Glaive high above her head. The blade caught the light of dying worlds, reflecting the end of all things. Power gathered around her, a swirling vortex of destruction that consumed everything in its path.
For a moment, she paused. A single tear, glimmering like a lost galaxy, rolled down her cheek. Then, her face set, Saturn swung the Silence Glaive downward.
The blade whistled through the air, carrying with it the weight of inevitability. As it felt, reality held its breath, awaiting the last strike that would bring silence to all.
