AN: Hey! Happy Halloween! I figured I might as well update today to celebrate the occasion.

Chapter 2 Scary

The other Koopalings all stared into the box. Lemmy hadn't even bothered to take the costume out of it, so they all leaned over it like it was a bomb that would go off any minute. Wendy bit her lip and looked back up at Lemmy, who was twiddling his thumbs in a worried way.

"But...you ordered a Bat Koopa costume."

"I know! I know what I ordered." He approached and took the costume out of the box. Its plaid jacket was the right size for Lemmy, the exact right size. It was almost like the person who packed it knew what they were doing. "But I got this Shellock Holmes costume instead."

Morton snickered. "Maybe it's a sign from the universe or something."

Roy burst into laughter. "Heck yeah! The universe whats you to lose your mind again, Lems!"

Lemmy set the costume down and stared at his younger brother in horror. "Why would the universe want me to do that?" He shook his head and looked back down at the costume. His heart pumped as he did. "I am not going to wear this."

Iggy adjusted his glasses. "Well, then, perhaps it would be a sensible idea if you called the shipping company and asked for a refund."

Lemmy nodded. "That is a sensible idea." He pulled out his phone, dialed the number for the company, and held it to his ear. Unfortunately, just like when he opened the box, he was met with major disappointment.

"Hello and thank you for calling Postal Koopa," said an automated voice. "Unfortunately, due to the holiday approaching, our employees are all preoccupied. Please hold."

A hold song played into Lemmy's ear. The littlest Koopaling waited for it to end, keeping his eyes on the clock as he did so. After ten minutes passed, he groaned.

"I give up." He ended the call and looked up at his siblings. "They aren't going to answer."

Roy blinked. "Okay. Well, can't you order a new costume?"

Lemmy shook his head. "It took over a month for this delivery to arrive. And seeing how Halloween is in three days…"

Larry burst into laughter. "Oh man! Looks like you're going to lose your mind on Halloween after all!"

"No!" Ludwig exclaimed. He took a step toward his younger brother and patted him on the shoulder. "Lemmy, we are going to get you a new costume! I will personally take you to the closest costume store!"

"But Ludwig, I spent all my money on this…"

"Well then, I will also pay for your costume." He looked down at Lemmy seriously. "You were so excited this morning, and I don't want that excitement to be extinguished due to some idiot mixed up your delivery."

Lemmy looked up into his brother's face. He smiled. "Thanks, Lutz."

Ludwig chuckled. "Huh. Lutz. That's a new one."

Lemmy chuckled. "I have to keep my words varied to prevent our conversations from getting stale, remember?"

Ludwig smirked. "Touche." He turned toward the others. "Okay. We'll be back in a little bit."

"Of course," said Iggy.

"Fly safe!" said Wendy.

Lemmy nodded as he and his brother turned to exit the lab.

Lemmy held onto Ludwig's hand as they flew through the air. Ludwig had originally suggested that he take his Koopa Clown Car, but Lemmy had insisted they do it this way. He trusted Ludwig enough to not let him fall.

They had already tried Stonebrim. Of course, since Stonebrim was the most boring town in existence, it did not appear to have any stores that sold decent Halloween costumes. At least, no costumes that were on the level of Lemmy's highly sophisticated and highly expensive tastes. So, they were travelling west. To Sparksville. A long flight to be sure, but it would be worth it in Lemmy's eyes as long as he got the costume that he so desperately desired.

"I still don't know how the order got mixed up," Lemmy said as they flew over a town called Amber.

"Well, do you think it's possible you clicked the wrong button on the site?" asked Ludwig.

"No! I was very particular about getting a Bat Koopa costume! I explicitly went out of my way to make sure that I ordered the right thing."

Ludwig nodded. "Well then." He smiled. "You can always leave a bad review on the site."

"Ehh. I don't know. I don't like doing that; there's always something to like about…"

"Lemmy, that philosophy already applies to movies. This is a delivery site! It is expected that it delivers the items that you paid for!"

"I know, but…"

"Lemmy, let's say that you were really sick; sick with cancer. And the only way that you got your medication was through online delivery. If you had selected that site, and they messed up your order...well then, don't you think a bad review would be necessary at that point?"

Lemmy snickered. "I think a lawsuit would be necessary at that point."

"Exactly. Delivery sites are supposed to do their jobs."

Lemmy sighed. "I suppose you're right. I'll...I'll leave a bad review when we land."

Ludwig nodded, satisfied. They flew in silence for a little bit. While Lemmy was now convinced that a bad review on the site was the way to go, he was still hesitant. After all, he never left a bad review on anything before. It was kind of his thing to find the good in everything, to be nice and happy instead of a grumpy gus.

"What do you plan on dressing up as for Halloween?" Lemmy asked, hoping to take his mind off of this.

"Eh. I was actually thinking I would hand out candy more this year."

Lemmy gawked. "What? Why?'

"Lemmy, I'm twenty. There comes a point in time where someone has to decide that they are too old for that stuff."

Lemmy shook his head. "You are never too old to have fun!"

"I guess. But I'm not like you. I can't pass off as a five year old." When Lemmy flashed him a glare, he chuckled. "I mean that in the best possible way, of course. If I grown Koopa, showed up on someone's doorstep...well, I would just freak people out."

Lemmy stared at him. "You could just tell people that you're a really tall ten year old."

Ludwig laughed. "My voice would be a dead give away." He sighed and faced ahead. "Look, I know that you might find this part of life sad. And maybe it is. But it is only sad if you decide to make it sad. But there can be a lot of fun things one can do as an adult." He looked back down at Lemmy. "I tell you this, of course, because you're nineteen. I think you might want to think about this stuff."

Lemmy felt shivers run up and down his spine. He didn't want to think about this stuff. This stuff...scared him.

"Well, thank you. Thank you very much." He looked up. "I still want to get that costume."

"Understood." Ludwig looked ahead. "Look, there's Sparksville!" He picked up speed. Once they were over the town, his eyes scanned over the place until he found a costume store. Unfortunately, there was one big issue.

"That's a big line," said Lemmy.

"Yeah," Ludwig said with a nod. He faced his brother. "You willing to wait for an hour and a half?"

Lemmy was about to say no, but when he thought about the Shellock costume at the castle, he put on a determined face. "I'm more than willing."

"Okay," Ludwig said. With that, they landed.
