Chapter 28: Finding the Altean Pilots(Part 2)(Allura's POV)

Allura looks at the system they've created early this morning. The others all went to rest and assured her that the system would notify them once it found remnants of a Robeast. But she couldn't trust the system so easily. Honvera finally showed her true colors to pretty much almost everyone.

And if Keith saw Hawkmoth's apparition then it means she is just as evil and monstrous as him judging from what they have heard about this 'Hawkmoth'. Coupled that with what Lotor's already said, it paints a pretty dark picture.

Her blood boils as she thinks about her innocent subjects being dragged into this, being Honvera's pawns in whatever her plan is. It's despicable! What did her people ever do to deserve to be pawns in someone else's plans?!

Taking a deep breath she calms herself and just then a knock is heard on the door. Turning around she spots Kuro and she smiles a little.

"Shouldn't you be resting?" Kuro asks, concerned.

"I can't rest. Not with Honvera still out there," She then turns around and grabs her mug and shows him it, "Besides I have this 'coffee' to keep me going."

"But you've already been up all night, no doubt." Kuro then takes a seat beside her, "Besides, even if you drink coffee your brain won't function without sufficient rest. Trust me on this one. The Altas will need its Commander to be in tip top shape for whatever threats are out there."

"Voltron can handle it,"

"Atlas could barely handle six Robeasts, do you really think Voltron can handle one?"

"But…."

"No buts. You need to rest. Yesterday was a very long day and you stayed up all night. At least get a few hours worth of sleep."

"And if I refuse?"

"Then I'll carry you to your bed myself and make sure you get some sleep."

Allura groans, she isn't getting out of this one so easily. Looking back at the system her, Pidge, Romelle, Lotor and Luca built together, she sighs. "Okay you win." Besides, Pidge assured her that would notify them when it found a Robeast so she should be okay to leave it for a few hours. Though something in the back of her brain is afraid to leave, to not be there for the news of it finding one. It is her people in those Robeasts. If she hadn't been sent away by her father perhaps she could've helped her people, been there for them. She breathes out, that's in the past, right now she has to focus on the future.

Getting up from her seat, she walks out of the room with Kuro. When they reach the door, she can't help but look back at the monitor with the system on it. She then shuts off the light switch making the room dark except for the orange screen of the monitor. Then she turns away from the room.

Hours Later:

Marinette's POV

Marinette sits in the cafeteria, numbly swirling her coco with her spoon. Even though she is a part of the MFEs, it doesn't really feel like she played a big role, or really mattered in the grand scheme of things. Sure her and Griffin took shots at the Robeasts rendering them harmless, but anyone could have taken those shots.

Not to mention that Honvera still got away. It wasn't Lance's fault, Honerva could've easily duped everyone else with the same story of keeping Zethrid at bay. But the odd thing is that she kept her promise and instead of finishing the Paladins off(which she is grateful that she didn't) she took off when the planet was beginning to tear itself apart.

Another thing that's odd is that Keith said he saw Hawkmoth there and he looked so frightened of him when brought him. He did also freeze in battle. Just what the heck is going on? Nothing seems to make rational sense.

Suddenly she hears someone sit beside her and she quickly turns around to find Lance. Sighing in relief she smiles, "Hello."

"Hi."

Looking at him she notices he looks glum so she asks, "Why so glum, chum?"

"I had the chance to end it, to stop all of this, to stop her. But I failed, I couldn't even capture her…"

"But the planet was tearing itself apart, we had no idea if you would make it before the white hole collapsed. Is what Lotor said really bothering you this much?"

"Yes, because he's right. I could've done something…"

"No you couldn't. If you had killed Honerva, Zethrid would have continued her ramage right? Killing your helpless friends that blacked out to the time slippage that knocked almost everything out. And you had to wake them up so they could escape the collapsing planet which could've been destroyed any minute. You couldn't again risk your friend's safety to get Honerva. There wasn't any other options you could have taken."

She then grabs his hand and smiles, "Besides we all knew that going after Honerva would be no easy feat."

"Yeah, but…."

"No buts, don't listen to Lotor, he's just upset because the person he hates most is still on the loose and could create more havoc. But with Pidge's system we can identify where the Robeasts are and when Honvera will show up. We're prepared. Sure we lost, but next time won't be a loss."

"You're right Mari. I just thought that because Lotor blamed me it was all my fault."

"He also blamed Keith too, so he doesn't view it as entirely your fault. But still even if he blamed you entirely for what happened it still doesn't excuse the fact there weren't any other options unless things played out differently."

"Yeah…. I guess I just…." Then Lance shakes his head, "Nevermind." Then he turns his attention onto her. "I'm glad you're here with us."

"I'm glad too, Lancey-Lance."

"Hey!"

She giggles at his mock offense, making him pause and then giggle too. Taking a sip from her coco after the laughter has died down she smiles. Even though they suffered a loss, and nothing makes sense, at least they have each other and their friends.

Author's Note: Sorry for not writing in a while. I got sick with the flu and haven't felt like doing much. There's also the problem of being an artist/writer having so many ideas at once that it's hard to place focus on current projects. Anyways I hope you guys enjoyed this chapter:)
