Chapter 477 The Temptation Of The Veelas
"Ladies and gentlemen, good evening! Welcome to the final of the forty-second Quidditch World Cup!"
Just as Ludo Bagman finished, the audience erupted in applause and cheers.
Thousands of flags waved simultaneously, adding their discordant national anthems to the commotion. The scene was vibrant.
The massive black scoreboard in front of them was cleared of its last message ("Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans - A risk with every bite!) and now displayed the scores of the two teams: BULGARIA: 0, IRELAND: 0.
"Alright, alright, and now without further ado, allow me to introduce... the mascots of the Bulgarian national team!"
The right side of the stands, a solid block of scarlet, roared in approval.
"I wonder what they've brought," Mr. Weasley said, leaning forward in his seat. "Ah! Veelas!" Suddenly, he removed his glasses and hurriedly polished them on his robes.
"What are the Ve...?"
No one answered Harry, as a hundred Veelas were now gliding towards the field, attracting everyone's attention.
The Veelas were women, the most beautiful women anyone had ever seen.
Their skin gleamed like moonlight, and their golden white hair cascaded behind them without wind.
Each Veela had an aura of seduction around her, stirring the hearts of everyone.
Evan couldn't find the exact words to describe them, but he felt that every second spent with him witnessing their beauty would not be better used elsewhere.
These glamorous perfect beauties were like an enhanced version of Fleur, with pairs of large, clear and shining eyes, soft and full red lips, and charming and exquisite noses between their pure and clear cheeks that were even more dazzling with the cute dimples on them.
Each of them possessed a slender and graceful figure, arms like soft snow lotus roots, slim round and smooth legs, and delicate and smooth athletic hips. They were truly elegant.
Looking at these enchanting Veelas, all the men in the crowd wished they could enter the field.
With the sound of cheerful music, Evan slowly let go of all the troubling thoughts, simply gazing ahead.
The Veelas started to dance, and his mind turned completely and blissfully blank, feeling extreme joy.
All that mattered in the world was to keep watching the Veelas, because if they stopped dancing, terrible things would happen...
This was a kind of magic that acted directly on the spirit, a natural feature of the Veelas.
Maybe it was because he had been invaded too many times by the spirits of evil gods, or because he was too familiar with Gabrielle and had developed immunity, or because he had seen the charming face of Elaine, or because he loved Hermione extremely... In short, Evan immediately woke up from his reverie.
The Occlumency, which he had diligently practiced, naturally played a role, protecting his mind against all external spiritual invasions.
Beside him, Sirius looked at everyone with a mocking smile ready to witness the show.
He was obviously very surprised by Evan's sudden sobriety.
Hermione and Ginny sat there somewhat discontented; the Veelas' magic had no effect on the girls.
After these Veelas appeared, the boys next to them suddenly seemed like different people.
Hermione turned her head and observed Evan closely, seeing that he was already awake before moving her eyes to Harry and Ron.
Evan's loss in the beauty of the Veelas was very brief, and thanks to his quick reaction, Hermione did not notice, but Harry and Ron were not as lucky.
Both seemed to be floating on air at that moment.
As the Veelas danced faster and faster, wild and half-formed thoughts began to wander through their bewildered minds.
Although Evan had recently been teaching Harry Occlumency, it was obviously having no effect.
Harry felt dizzy and wanted to do something very impressive at that moment.
Jumping from the stands to the stadium seemed like a good idea... but would it be enough?
"Harry, for heaven's sake, what are you doing?!," finally Hermione couldn't contain herself and said.
The music stopped, and Harry blinked. He was standing, and one of his legs rested on the stand wall.
Next to him, Ron was frozen in a stance that seemed as if he were about to launch himself from a diving board.
Below, shouts of anger filled the stadium. The crowd did not want the Veelas to leave.
Harry simply gazed at the Veela, while Ron tore at the clovers on his hat.
Mr. Weasley, smiling slightly, leaned towards Ron and took the hat from his hands.
"Well, Ron, once Ireland has had its turn," Mr. Weasley said, "you'll want it back."
"Eh?!" said Ron, staring at the Veela, who was now lining up along one side of the field.
"Oh, what's wrong with you two?!" Hermione made a noise of disgust.
She reached out and sat Harry back down, very dissatisfied with his reaction.
"I don't know, I feel a void in my head!" gasped Harry.
"It's because you and Ron are weak. Evan had no problems," said Hermione. "These girls are not mere humans, they are a kind of magical beings, do not be deceived by their appearance."
"But they are truly beautiful," said Ron, "they are the most beautiful girls I have ever seen in my life. I want to be with them forever!"
"If you wish to marry a Veela, it is not impossible. Many people have done so," said Evan. "Veelas are extremely intelligent creatures. They can marry wizards and have children. Only the female descendants will inherit the Veela lineage."
Evan thought of Fleur and Gabrielle. Their grandmother was a Veela.
"Sounds good!" Ron nodded absentmindedly.
Seeing him, it was evident that he was considering the possibility of marrying a Veela.
Although they were not human, they were so beautiful that it was not far-fetched.
Veelas are known to have originated from a country near Bulgaria. They are a type of shape-shifting fairies.
Typically, wizards believe they reside in forests, lakes, mountains, and clouds. They can transform into swans, horses, eagles, snakes, or wolves, but they have their most attractive human form.
When they become human, they transform into beautiful young women who dance in the veils of summer solstice nights.
Men would become obsessed with them and forget all about the world, even eating, drinking, and sleeping.
If any unfortunate soul joined a Veela to dance, they would have to dance until they died from exhaustion.
Nevertheless, they are generally very friendly with humans, healing them and making predictions for them.
If a Veela finds a human man who satisfies her, she could marry him and live happily together.
But Veelas have a temper, and they would not tolerate being deceived. Those who are not loyal would be severely punished.
Despite this, there are still many wizards who desire to marry a Veela...
