Chapter 38: Knights of Light(Part 1)(Allura's POV)
Two Days Later:
Allura flutters her eyes open. Sitting up she groans as her head hurts. She then notices Kuro, Coran, Romelle and Luca all at her bedside. She also notices that she isn't in her room.
Kuro and the others sigh in relief.
"Allura thank goodness you're okay. We were all so worried about you." Kuro says for everyone who nods at his statement.
"Commander Holt told us what happened…" Romelle comments.
"You took in the Rift Creature didn't you?" asks Luca.
"I did what I had to."
"But Allura you saw firsthand what happened to Lasam when he was about to tell you about Honerva's plan. Alfor told me to protect you… So why take in the Rift Creature when it could kill you at her command?!" Coran exclaims, worried.
"Well I was drawn to it."
"Drawn to it?"
"Yeah and then I reasoned that if what Pidge told me and that the rift creature could connect me to Honvera I could find the answers we've been seeking all this time."
Kuro sighs, "That is a good plan, but we risk your safety. And we don't know how exactly this connection works. The other Alteans have been too afraid to speak to us about it after what happened to Lasam. There are just too many unknowns."
"You are not having Lotor take this creature out of me. Not when we're so close to stopping all of this. To having peace."
They share a look with each other, concern clearly showing in their gazes.
Luca sighs, "I don't really know how the connection works either. Honvera ordered us to bond to these creatures and then connected us to her through them. So until your bond gets stronger to her, you probably won't be able to use the creature for what you want."
"Then we'll have to go into her mind."
"Go into her mind. Are you insane? I love you Lura, I really do, but this is crazy. We don't know what her mind will be like, or if she has mental blocks put in place for her deepest darkest desires that could threaten you while you're in there. Besides we don't even know if it's' possible."
"There must be a miraculous or a technique Lotor learned for going into their minds." She says stubbornly.
Kuro sighs, "I can see that I can't change your mind. I'll see what Lotor and Adrien have to say. Meanwhile you should stay in bed. You passed out pretty hard two days ago."
"Two days!?"
"Yeah."
"Then we have to get started right away." She insists.
Instead of acknowledging her, Kuro turns to Coran, Luca and Romelle, "Look after her okay."
He then walks out of the med bay.
She huffs and crosses her arms. Romelle comments, "Kuro's just worried about you. We all are."
Sighing, she says, "I know. But I did the right thing. We were having no progress with the Altean Pilots."
"And we're not saying you made the wrong choice either. We just wished you discussed this with us before taking the risk, that's all. And like Kuro said, we don't know what her mind will be like." Luca states with concern.
"I'm sorry but I had to do it."
"Had to? Right. There wasn't any room to talk to us? Your friends? Those creatures are the same ones that attacked Honerva and Zarkon. Alfor would not have wanted this." Coran mutters, downcasted.
"I really am sorry Coran."
Coran gives her a smile, but it looks forced.
"I am sorry. I just, I guess I wasn't in the right headspace to think it through and instead just did it."
"We know. With the whole Lasam thing everyone was feeling pretty down. And I realize now it must have hit a lot harder for you." Romelle comments.
"It doesn't seem like it."
Luca snaps, "Yeah it doesn't seem like it. Because our friend went behind our backs while we were at a Festival and made a game-changing move without first going through every possibility or seeing if there would be any determinants to the plan. So of course we're upset and angry at you! But we still care about you and will support your decision because we can't take back the move you made, because like Kuro said we can't change your mind!"
She flinches and Luca breathes out, "Sorry I just had to get that off my chest."
"We're friends?"
"Of course us Altean should stick together," Romelle chimes in with Luca nodding.
"Even if we haven't spent a lot of time together, I consider you a friend as well. Which is why I care so dang much that you went behind our back without consulting us first." Luca adds.
"Thanks."
Kuro's POV
"Is there a miraculous that can go into the minds of someone?" Kuro asks Adrien after finally tracking him down in the music room where he's hanging out with Keith. They are sitting at the piano together, they were playing a duet before he stopped them to ask his question.
"I don't know. All I know is the Asian Miracle Boxes miraculous and they for sure don't have any kind of power like that." Adrien answers.
"It was worth a shot." he sighs.
Keith asks, "Why? Does this question have to do with something important?"
Sighing again, he says, "Allura wants to go into Honerva's mind."
"What?!" Keith snarls while Adrien sits there in shock.
"I know right…."
"Why would Allura want to go into Honerva's mind! From what I've heard she's just as bad as Hawkmoth was, or worse!" Keith shouts, angered.
"To get answers without having to endanger the Altean Pilots…."
"Why can't Lotor just take the creatures out of the pilots and spare us having to go into Honerva's mind!?"
"Because it could make them go into a coma like Lasam, even if the creature wasn't trying to hurt them on Honerva's command. They're bonded with the creatures so ripping them out of the pilots could make it worse." Kuro tells them, though that's just his theory as to why Lotor will not do what Keith suggested.
Adrien pipes up, "I'll contact the other Miracle Box Guardians, but I doubt there's a miraculous that powerful."
"I thought the only limit to a miraculouses powers is the limits you put on yourself." Keith adds, seeming to have simmered down a bit.
"There are limits. Ladybug can't create everything and she's not the only miraculous who can reverse the damage of an akuma."
"But she can reverse the damage taken in battle to buildings, not just the akuma's effects to Paris."
"Fair point."
Kuro sighs, "I guess that leaves contacting Lotor."
"He won't like that, with how much he hates the 'witch'," Keith points out.
"I know, but we do need answers otherwise we'll be powerless to stop Honvera before she ruins everything."
"Right….. Good luck, Kuro."
"Thanks," He then leaves the music room to try and track down Lotor. He sighs, he isn't looking forward to this conversation. He knows how much Lotor actively hates the witch, so he would not be too enthused about being asked to enter her mind. But it's for Allura and for stopping this once and for all. He manages to find him accidentally in one of the many corridors.
"Hey Lotor!"
"Hello Kuro."
"I was wondering…."
"Wondering what?"
"Well….."
"Spit it out!"
"You see… Allura took in the rift creature and now she wants to go into Honerva's mind to get answers and I was wondering if you knew any techniques on how to do that since you know….we need answers."
"Desperately enough to go into the mind of a psychopath! And what was Allura thinking?! Those Rift Creatures are dangerous! I still can't believe she bonded with one."
"So is that a no?"
"Despite how much I hate that witch and do not want to enter into her mind…. The White Lion did teach a technique that has been used by thousands of Altean Alchemists to learn the secrets of their enemies if questions and brute force in the real world weren't enough. And we'll need Allura to since the Rift Creature is bonded to Honvera as it will link us to her mind since we do not have her present."
"So you really are going to do it?"
"I want this war to end just as badly as any of you. I also do not want to force the Altean Pilots into more suffering by ripping out their Rift Creatures out of their bodies as Lasam has still not woken up from his coma yet."
"So….."
"Yes I am doing it. Gather the Atlas Crew and Voltron we need to discuss our plan of action."
