Author's Note: The reason there is a time skip to the end of the battle when Honerva has opened the portal is because I forgot what exactly happens in the Uncharted Regions episode when Voltron tries to stop Honerva in cannon. And the wikki page for the episode provided little detail on how it all went down. So the battle happened exactly as it does in Uncharted Regions(the cannon version), though with a few tweaks in the timing of certain things(that's all that changes). Anyways I hope you guys enjoy the third last chapter of this Arc and this story:)

Chapter 43: The Zenith(Gabriel's POV)

Gabriel smiles wickedly. Honerva did it. She managed to fuse the two mechs together because of Voltron's foolishness in bringing a Balmera to the battle. A planet the reeks of enough Quintessence to do the job.

Allura did wake up halfway through the battle though. But it matters not because Honerva won. She did it. Now to make sure it sticks. He leaves Keith's body, just as his teammates watch in horror of how they utterly failed.

He joins Honerva at her side as she pilots her mech to victory, but most importantly her family.

"You did it."

"Yes I did. I never would have thought it possible if you never encouraged me to continue onward."

"Thank you. But it was a team effort."

"I just wish I could repay you somehow…."

"You being with your family again, when I can't, is enough payment for me." It's true. Honerva now gets her happy ending that she deserves. But on their radar he can clearly see Voltron on their tail. Though Voltron looks different. It's bigger and white. And looks more feminine. They fused with the Altas. Rage consumes him, but he knows Honerva will defeat them.

It's a swift battle, with Honerva easily defeating Voltron. They must've not gotten used to their fusion. As their balance is off and their moves too jagged and stiff. He grins, it works in their favor.

They then drain their energy, leaving them to die in the rotting reality.

"Do you think it was wise to just leave them?"

"Of course," he snarks back at her, "They are trying to stop you from being with your family. From being happy again. From filling the empty hole inside your heart. Let them rot, the whole bunch of them."

Honerva still looks uneasy, but she focuses on the task at hand. When they arrive at their destination, she lands the mech down in a grassy green field. A castle looms in the distance, though it also looks like a fort. It's dark purple in color scheme.

He poofs out of the mech with Honenerva. In the distance he can make out two Galrans and one looks like Emperor Zarkon. Zarkon embraces Honerva, not noticing his presence. Though he's gotten used to it at this point. Everyone except Honerva seeing him and talking to him. A little rage at their embrace comes to the surface but he shoves the feeling down. He does not like Honerva, like he didn't like Natalie. His only love is Emile.

Honerva's POV

Honerva clings tightly to her husband as they embrace. She is aware of Gabriel and some random Galran soldier watching them, but she ignores them as she is reunited with husband. Who isn't corrupt from Quintessence. But their embrace ends, as Zarkon pulls away. He brushes her hair, "I thought I'd never see you again. You were very sick and we could only save Lotor. I was going to use the quintessence….."

She puts her finger on his lips, "Shush. I came here, because I love you. And in my world we were separated along with Lotor. I also wanted to be with my son, to have the chance to raise him. But if your Honerva died, I'm not sure he would like me replacing her."

Zarkon lifts her chin, "You may look different from my Honerva, but you are still a version of her. The fact you came here to be with us is proof that you love us."

"Is it really?"

"Of course. You loved us so much that you couldn't be apart from us. The same is true with me. I haven't loved another woman after you died. You are my one true love."

But something in the pit of her stomach told her that it isn't right. If she really loved them both, she would have tried harder to connect with Lotor instead of letting his hatred of her past actions of Haggar deter her from trying. Though Gabriel thinks this is right. That being with these other versions will fill the hole in her heart.

Then Zarkon kisses her. It's very passionate. But it doesn't feel right. Like this isn't the Zarkon she fell in love with. That this is someone completely different, who loved a different version of her. She can't deny that he does love her, but it feels wrong. Zarkon doesn't notice it though and instead lifts her off the ground, twirling her when their passionate kiss is finished.

Zarkon laughs, "I'm so happy to have you back."

He then sets her on the ground.

"How about you like to see our son?"

She smiles, though she still feels uncomfortable, "I'd love to."

Zarkon tells her on their way to Altea after he insisted she change her apparel that he had Lotor study there, and be the best of both their worlds by training in Altean knowledge and learning Galran combat on his visits back to Daibazzal. She feels proud of her son in this reality that he could fulfill their dreams but, "Does he have any friends?"

"Friend's?" her husband echoes.

"You know, other kids to hangout with."

"No he's too busy with his studies to be bothered with friends."

"He's still a child. He should be allowed to be a kid, too."

"Nonsense, our son is too great for friends."

The pit in her stomach intensifies. She had been glad when her son had made friends with Voltron when she made a situation where her son could join them. Because then he had people who could support him and be there for him when she couldn't.

But this Lotor wasn't allowed to have any of it even though her husband isn't evil. All because he is 'too great' for friends.

Arriving at Altea she steps out of the Galra ship. They are greeted by Alfor and his wife and his daughter. Guilt pricks her stomach as she remembers Gabriel saying to end her when Allura and the Paladins got to the truth and saw what she wants most in the world. Her family. But none of this feels right.

But reluctantly she follows Allura to where her son is training. And her eyes widened. Her son is standing in a huge room that has a glass see-through roof and is all alone looking at a map of the Galaxy. And Lotor is so young. About five-ten if she had to guess. And he hasn't been allowed friends.

Zarkon announces their presence to the young Lotor, "Lotor, your mother has come back."

When Lotor turns around, his eyes go wide and kid-like excitement replaces the initial shock.

"Mommy!" he yells and jumps up to hug her. She barely catches him in his arms. Lotor snuggles up to her chest and hugs her tight. He then opens his eyes wide, "It really is you. I thought you were…."

"I, uh, well I…."

"The truth is son I sent her on a trip after you were born, but she didn't come back. We tried to search for her. But in the end we could not find her. It was only her love and determination that made her come back to us."

Honerva holds her gasp and shoves down her shock. He just lied. To their son of all people about where she came from. Won't they have to tell him the truth at some point? But looking at Lotor, with huge wide eyes and his happy grin, she can't help but grin back despite her uneasiness.

"I'm glad you're not dead."

"I am too."

But before their conversation can go any farther, the Voltron and Altas fusion breaks through the sky. Zarkon immediately turns on her, "How dare you bring this creature with you. You are not my wife!"

"I did not bring that mech here."

"Then why is it here?"

Lotor hugs her closely, "Mommy, why is father angry."

"He thinks I bought a big scary mech here." She looks up to the sky and sighs.

"I will have to handle it. You stay here."

"Don't go!" Lotor wails, catching the sleeve of her dress as after she turns away after setting him down.

"I'll be back soon."

"But what if you don't come back, like last time?"

She ruffles his hair, "I'll come back. I promise."

But the younger version of Lotor looks skeptical. But before she can say another word, her husband harshly drags Lotor away. Using her magic she brings her mech here into the room, without noticing that the younger Lotor had snuck away from this version of husbands watchful eye.

A little pod comes out of her mech's chest. She climbs into it, looking up at the sky, not noticing Lotor sneak in. Once she gets into the mech's pilot chamber she flies through the glass roof unaware she has a stowaway.

Then she suddenly feels Gabriel at her side. She feels his anger and suddenly Gabriel has taken possession of her body. And she watches, unable to do anything as Gabriel confronts Voltron.
