Hello friends! I'm finally back from California...but I'm leaving for five days without any internet, so if I'm offline, thats why. Thank you for reading and enjoy :)

*I do not own the Dragon Prince...although it would be fun if I did :)*

DRAGON PRINCE

Ever since Averice was a young girl, all she stood for had been good. Her moral and spirit had been high, her parents were often there to coach, while she went for things in her own time.

But it all changed the moment the war started.

Her parents were quick to pick a side, though her brother had other things to say. Crypto had always been the opposite of his family, often being known for being witty, careless, and impulsive. Everything his parents had avoided to instill in their son, which wasn't exactly careless on their part.

Crypto always knew what he wanted, and even his own parents and sister couldn't have changed his mind on certain matters.

Including who to follow

When the war started, Crypto chose Viren's side, saying that Viren has a more rational point of view. But his parents brought out that although Viren had a few good teachings, most of teachings were wrong and vile. And always ended up someone getting hurt.

There was a lot to say on the whole matter

But even Averice couldn't have stopped her brother from leaving, and as much as it pained her, she chose to go with him. He was her brother after all.

It was the wrong choice, and yet she knew it. But Crypto would've gotten himself killed many times if Averice hadn't been there, though he still continued to choose many wrongs and little good.

'He's just going through something, it'll end soon," Averice told herself, to keep her from going insane from all the current events.

But nothing could've ever prepared her for all the hate

The war ended as fast as it started. And although Averice was relived, there was still much to be done about her brother's matter. Crypto continued to be obsessed with Viren's teachings, constantly scrolling through different articles and books.

The books changed him. The Crypto that Averice knew was no longer her brother, he was more of a stranger. Though, she didn't run, instead she stayed by her brother in every waking moment.

But when the crowds rushed in to kill them, Averice ran. She ran with everything she had because there was so much fear running through her veins.

This wasn't supposed to happen

Nor was taking Prince Callum for her brothers benefit. And yet here they were, trying to find out a recipe for a strong sedative to give the prince as that would avoid squirming and alerting the guards to Callum's horrible predicament.

'This feels wrong,' Averice had pointed out to her brother one night.

But instead of validating his sister, he had just scoffed. 'Stop complaining, you'll thank me one day.'

Though Averice already knew that day wouldn't ever come

DRAGON PRINCE

"You're late," Soren grumbled. "Again."

Callum came running into the meeting room, his face flushed with embarrassment and exhaustion. He quickly sat down. "I'm sorry, I got so invested in my research."

"What about?" Ezra, who was Callum's very lighthearted brother.

"It's still in progress, but I've learning about the Air Primal. There are so many components. " Callum said, very excited about his latest discovery. "Though, that can wait. I hear that we have some important stuff to talk about."

His younger brother nodded eagerly. "Yes, there is much to discuss in such little time. Luckily, we'll start with the current events. Has anyone of you ever seen Slivergrove, minus Callum?"

Everyone shook their heads as Callum smiled at the lasting memory of the last time he visited the beautiful landmark. Though, he really didn't know where Ezra was going with all of this.

"Well then, I have some exciting news. Lately, me and Rayla have been discussing new ideas for unity between our very own kingdoms. Though many were scratched, Rayla suggested a rather fun idea. She said that we could use Slivergrove as a bridge to connect our worlds."

There was a chorus of mummers that circled throughout the room, though it was quite mixed on how everyone felt about the king's newest suggestion. Nor did they know where Ezra was going to take this. Considering how the relationship between the elves and humans was still quite unstable, it was quite the proposition that was proposed.

Opeli raised a quiet hand. "Your majesty, if you don't mind me asking, what are you proposing exactly?"

"A new possibility," Ezra replied, "I propose that we bring people from our kingdom to visit Slivergrove, though the number would be limited. And before you all start to arose, understand that there are risks, many that wouldn't end very well. But these risks are worth the reward, this is a small step into a new reality. Sometimes these small, yet complicated, steps are needed to earn ourselves a better future."

"I understand your majesty, but are the elves aware of this sudden transition?"

"Yes and no. That's where Rayla comes into the plan, she plans to go to the moonshadow elves and create a treaty on our behalf."

It sounded like a good plan in theory. Though there were many plot holes that had quite the gap for failure. But Ezran was right, there were going to be some risks that were worth taking in the end.

"It sounds like a solid plan Ez, although I would go with Rayla to Slivergrove."

His younger brother nodded his head. "I assumed that much, I've arranged for me, Soren, Rayla, and Callum to go off towards Slivergrove. It wouldn't be long, at least, if everything goes according to plan. The kingdom should be fine during my leave."

"Don't worry my king," Opeli bowed, "I'll be sure to make sure of it."

"Thank you Opeli. Now are there any other forms of business we need to discuss?"

"Not at the moment my ki-"

The doors banged open at that very moment, cutting Opeli from her previous sentence. Everyone turned to see the scene, though marveling at the sheer nerve for someone to enter so abruptly.

It was simply not custom for young women to enter into the king's meeting chambers.

In the doorway stood a young maiden whose brown hair was down to her shoulders. She wore a panicked expression and was clearly out of breath.

"My king," She said with respect. "I'm so sorry to bother you, but this couldn't wait a single minute more."

Ezran, who was clearly a very empathetic person, mentioned for the young girl to continue her statement.

"There has been an awful accident in my town, a flood to be exact. Its wiped-out half of the town, and we are in need of assistance."

"What kind of assistance could I offer you?"

"We need someone to help clean up our town, or to preferably wipe it dry. I've heard that you have a high mage in your kingdom. Is that correct?" The young girl walked forward.

Ezran nodded. "That would be correct. Though I am curios what you need the high mage for?"

"I'm aware that your high mage knows primal magic, and if we could use his magic for assistance in town cleanup, that would be very helpful. Could that be a possibility?"

"Well….if my brother agrees, then it could be arranged. Although it he wouldn't go alone, I can assure you that much."

The girl nodded as she bit her lip. Which didn't go unnoticed by Callum, who had been watching the young maiden quite closely. And from what he could tell, she was hiding something.

And he was going to figure it out, which meant he had to get close to her.

"I'll go," Callum stood up. "And I'll take Soren with me. But that's it, if there are any more guards, they'll only be in the way. Is that alright Ezran?"

Ezran pondered for a few short seconds but decided that his older brother could take care of himself. "Yes, Callum but promise me you'll be careful."

"Thank you Ez, now, it seemed that I didn't catch your name." He mentioned towards the young girl.

The young girl bit her lip once again. "I'm Averice," she said softly.

"Well, Averice, let's go help you're little town."

As Callum left with Averice, Ezra couldn't help but feel a very sickening feeling. Something wasn't right, and although he couldn't take his leave, he knew that Soren would protect Callum with his life.

That had to be enough
