Chapter 5: When Two Hedgehogs Collide
(Darkened area)
Sonic had arrived in this strange area that didn't have much light, so it was hard for Sonic to see anything. However, Sonic did notice there were a bunch of mirrors
Sonic- This almost reminds me of how Amy described when she got lost in Twinkle Park in Station Square. Now where could that Chaos Emerald be.
Meanwhile, Chaos had entered in same area, but on the other side of the area.
Chaos- Why's it so dark in here? Kyuubi said he picked up a signal from one of my emeralds.
Then Chaos pulled out the purple Chaos Emerald and saw it lighting up a bit.
Chaos- And the emerald I pulled out of that robot that attacked me is reacting. My must mean another is close by.
Just then, Sonic and Chaos walked up to what they both thought was a mirror. And since it was dimly lit in that room, all they could make out in what appeared to be their own reflection was the shape of an anthropomorphic hedgehog. Sonic held his hand up to his chin and so did what appeared to be his reflection. Then Chaos brushed his hands over the quills in the back of his head and so did what appeared to be his reflection. Then Sonic held open one corner of his mouth with his hand like he was trying to check his teeth and so did what appeared to be his reflection. But then Chaos began to notice something strange about this.
Chaos- Hang on a minute…why is this mirror not showing me wearing my scarf when I can clearly see it's still around my neck?
Just then, Sonic and Chaos were turned their attention to this door that had appeared at the end of the passage as a voice could be heard coming from it.
Mysterious voice- Take a good look at yourself, Chaos!
Chaos- James Robotnik?!
While Chaos turned to look at the door, Sonic then realized he wasn't looking at his reflection in a mirror.
James Robotnik's voice- It's the last look you'll get before I close your eyes forever! Hoo hoo hoo!
Chaos- We'll see about that!
Then Chaos dashed off towards that door.
Sonic- Hang on…another hedgehog?! Is that…
Then Sonic noticed the cyan blue scarf around that hedgehog's neck.
Sonic- Hey Chaos! Wait up!
As Chaos ran into that door, he turned his head behind him to see Sonic following close behind him before the door closed.
(The Death Egg)
Chaos and Sonic suddenly found themselves on what appeared to be an elevator in a large space station.
Chaos- I remember this place! This was where me, Marco, Calmly, Icarus, and Kyuubi broke into James' Death Egg!
Sonic- He called this the Death Egg like egghead did? Wow! Must've sounded lamer back then.
Chaos- Another hedgehog?! What are you even doing here?!
Sonic- I could ask you the same thing, Chaos!
Chaos- Wait…you know me…
Before either of them could say anything, the Death Egg Robot appeared on the elevator they were on.
Jame Robotnik- Long time no see, Chaos! And I see you've brought a little friend with you. No matter! With the new upgrades I've made to the Death Egg thanks to the help of my new friend, I'll be squashing both of you into jelly faster then you can run around the world!
Sonic- Geeze…this James really does remind me of this egghead I know!
The Death Egg Robot launched its claw, but Sonic and Chaos used their speed to dodge. Chaos was actually surprised to see this blue hedgehog being able to run just as fast as him.
James Robotnik- Not bad, but I will flatten you!
The Death Egg Robot jumped into the air and attempted to land on Chaos. Chaos ran out of the way, but then Sonic rushed at the Death Egg Robot from behind with a spin dash. This knocked the Death Egg Robot to the ground and almost knocked James Robotnik out of the cockpit.
James Robotnik- He was right. You are just as much of a pain in my ass as Chaos is.
Then the elevator they were on reached the top floor and Sonic and Chaos saw a bunch of platforms surrounding them. Some of them even had these little bomb capsules on them. The Death Egg Robot got back up and was standing in the center of these floating platforms. The Death Egg Robot launched its claws at Sonic and Chaos again, but luckily, they dodged it. Then Chaos saw a bomb come out of one of those bomb capsules and got an idea.
Chaos- Yoo Hoo! James old buddy!
Then James Robotnik looked over and saw Chaos standing on a platform high up. However, Chaos was sticking his butt towards James and even slapped one hand over it in a mocking way.
Chaos- Bet you can get me, dumbass!
James Robotnik- Why you little…
The Death Egg Robot launched its claw towards Chaos, but when Chaos jumped out of the way, a bomb came out of one of the capsules and it exploded when the claw struck the bomb. Suddenly, the controls began to malfunction and James couldn't control the Death Egg Robot.
James Robotnik- What the hell?! Why are the controls failing?!
Chaos- Hey James!
Then James Robotnik looked up to see Chaos in the air just above him.
Chaos- Heads up!
Then Chaos rammed his foot over James' head from above before knocking him out of the Death Egg Robot. There apparently was a green glowing stone that James had dropped when he hit the ground.
James Robotnik- No! The emerald!
Before James could grab it, a blue blur rushed over and swiped it. Then James Robotnik saw Sonic holding the green Chaos Emerald in his hand while standing next to Chaos.
Sonic- So that's where the Chaos Emerald was!
But before Sonic or Chaos could do anything else, that same monster that attacked Sonic and his friends earlier appeared just above them.
Sonic- Shit! Not you again!
But then this mysterious monster reached over and grabbed James Robotnik before vanishing with the bad doctor.
Chaos- What the hell was that all about?!
Sonic- Not sure, but I think that monster might be the cause of why you and I are both there, Chaos.
Chaos- If you don't mind me asking…who are you and how do you know my name?
Sonic- You're joke, right?
(Back in the timeless limbo)
Both Sonic and Chaos rushed out of that area they were in earlier and saw both Tails and Kyuubi outside waiting for them.
Sonic- Tails!
Chaos- Kyuubi!
Kyuubi- Chaos! There you are! I think I've figured it out!
Tails- Yeah, me too, Sonic!
Kyuubi- Doubles of us…
Tails- Places and enemies from out past…
Tails and Kyuubi (at the same time)- We're traveling through time and space!
Chaos- So this blue hedgehog…Sonic was it…is from the future?
Sonic- Are you saying you don't remember me, Chaos?
Palutena (telepathically to Sonic)- I'm sure you remember during that Perfect Tabuu incident, Chaos sensei did say he met you before, but you didn't seem to remember meeting him before.
Viridi (telepathically to Sonic)- This situation is probably what Chaos sensei meant when he said you'd meet again.
Chaos- Palutena…Viridi…what are you…hang on a minute…did you say Perfect Tabuu?! Does that mean what I think it does?!
Palutena (telepathically to Chaos)- That Tabuu has returned in the future…unfortunately it does.
Sonic- But the Super Mario Brothers' Team has been reformed. And in a way, I'm your successor for the team 1,000 years later.
Chaos- I guess that would explain why you look, move, and fight like me.
Then Chaos thought of something that happened to Marco and Loewy.
Chaos (mumbles)- So that must've been where Marco and Loewy went after the Mushroom Kingdom vanished…
Sonic- What was that?
Chaos- It's nothing important! What is important is we find a way to return to our correct times.
Viridi (telepathically to everyone)- Chaos sensei is right. I'm detecting major damage being done the more that monster messes with time. That same one that just grabbed James Robotnik.
Kyuubi- Sounds like the same thing Tails told me kidnapped your friends and the future Super Mario Brothers' Team.
Just then Kyuubi saw the green Chaos Emerald in Sonic's hand.
Kyuubi- Hey, it's one of Chaos' emeralds. Just like the one Chaos found earlier.
Sonic- You found a Chaos Emerald too?
Then Chaos pulls out the purple Chaos Emerald.
Chaos- Yeah. I found it in this strange robot that actually looked like you.
Sonic- Sounds like you fought Metal Sonic.
Suddenly, the green and purple Chaos Emeralds lit up and a portal opened up. Out of the portal fell Yoshi, Kirby, Ash, and Pikachu.
Ash- Oh…my head…
Pikachu- Pika…
Sonic- Ash, Yoshi, Kirby! You're ok!
Kirby- Sonic…
Chaos- You know them?
Sonic- They're part of the later Super Mario Brothers' Team like I am.
Chaos- Makes sense, because they remind me of Ihsoy, Kimberly, and Prince Calmly.
Yoshi- Uh…Sonic…what going on?
Before Sonic could answer, that strange monster appeared in the timeless limbo and rushed further down the limbo.
Sonic- Sorry! No time to explain! I need to catch up to that monster before it gets away! Tails and Kyuubi can fill you in!
Sonic rushes after that mysterious monster.
Chaos- Wait for me, Sonic! I'm going too!
Then Chaos dashed after Sonic with equal speed to Sonic as they both chased after that mysterious time eating monster.
Kirby- Tails…is this another incident like with what happened during my birthday?
Tails- I think it is, Kirby.
