Charles Chase and every Wolfblood, police officer and Magic user he knew in Sunnydale, including Jenny Calendar, moved through the City of Sunnydale gathering transformed people as they went. The Magic users would send them to sleep, while the Wolfbloods picked them up and loaded them in the police cars and ambulances and they were then driven to the hospital, to be secured as best as they could be and treated for their injuries. All the while wondering how he was going to deal with the fallout from this latest crisis.
"As if the abrupt closure of dozens of companies and layoffs isn't already enough to deal with." He swore as he picked up a transformed child and carefully set him in the back of an ambulance. "Eventually we'll be able to get some of them reopened but it's going to take time. But how the Hell do we explain hundreds of people turning into monsters and in some cases, versions of real people?"
"Probably have to go to an old standby." One of the police officers suggested. "Say a 'quake burst a bunch of gas pipes all over town and caused hallucinations. Then announce you're sick of the bad, outdated constantly leaking pipes and you're going to have them all rerun and updated. Hell, in the long run, people's bills might even go down because as far as I know, those pipes are old and have never been updated. Who knows how much is actually leaking from them, especially since we have had earthquakes here."
"It would also explain the few small fires we've had to deal with." Charles agreed. "I hope Molly finds answers soon and figures out how to end this." He picked up another victim of this stupid magical stunt and set them into the ambulance. He watched as another group assessed injuries from a crashed car and felt the urge to tear someone's head off. Rory Harris, Alex's uncle, approached him.
"We've found an old woman, looks like someone or something strangled her, she's still alive, but barely."
Two officers made to follow him.
"Rory," Charles said quietly. "thanks for coming to help."
Rory just nodded. The issues between the packs were cultural and not worth standing by and doing nothing to help. He motioned to the two officers to follow him and Charles continued on.
Alex followed the smell of blood and saw something that he was certain would haunt for him for life. Dead little monsters. Dead children. He knew Cordelia had smelled it too and he couldn't change that, but he could keep her from seeing it. He turned around and pushed her in another direction. For once she just stayed silent and the two continued to try to find someone to help. So far there'd been way too many.
"So come here often?" Willow asked as she puffed on the joint that didn't seem to be getting any shorter. Oz felt like he might lose his cool with Devon the next time he saw him, whatever he'd done to that joint had Willow acting really strange and Oz didn't like it, at all. He wanted the bubbly, talk a mile a minute, Willow back. Not this stereotypical hippie version of Willow. And what was going on with her hair?
Molly finally arrived at the epicenter of the magical wave, a costume shop named Ethan's. Which made sense since people had become their costumes. The door was locked but that didn't stop her, she followed the Magic to the back of the shop.
"Ah, Ripper, nice of you to finally join me." A male voice said.
"My name is Molly Cooper and if you want me to rip something I'm fully prepared to do so. Are you Ethan, as the name on the shop indicates?"
"I am." Ethan eyed the very powerful Magic user in front of him and cursed how weak casting the spell had left him.
"And this Ripper person you're looking for?"
"Rupert Giles, an old friend."
"Interesting. And this spell?"
"The embodiment of be careful what you wish for."
"Really." Molly said flatly. "Than I wish for you to know the pain of your victims tonight and every night until their pain finally ends."
"Wish granted." A gravely voice said as Ethan Rayne began to scream.
"Thank you, Anyanka. I appreciate your assistance, even if I'm not actually a scorned woman."
"He's male and D'Hoffryn shouldn't have any problems with it since it's still vengeance. Anything else I can do for you?"
"Never grant a wish in Sunnydale again or I'll become your enemy and I'm certain you understand I'm capable of being a very dangerous enemy."
Anyanka could feel the power and the rage emanating from the human in front of her and nodded. "Yes, I can. Very well, I will not grant a wish in Sunnydale ever again." She teleported away. Molly turned to the glowing bust of Janus and blasted it with rage filled Magic. Ethan's voice broke with the force of his screams as a second wave of Magic washed through town, undoing the first. Molly called for an ambulance using the phone she found by the cash register and then found a chair and sat down to keep an eye on Ethan, who she currently had trapped in a green circle of energy to keep him from do anything other than suffer for the injured and dead children in Sunnydale.
"It seems we need to have a conversation with Rupert Giles." Molly said aloud "And who or what Ripper refers to. And how much he had to do with what's happened tonight. As for you, Ethan, you can join Catherine Madison and a few others in the asylum. Because I'm pretty sure all that pain you're experiencing is going to leave you completely and totally insane. How much has tonight changed the survivers of your massive stupidity?"
