Akari Sakura was a normal and shy 12 year old girl who dreamed of becoming a manga artist one day and looks up to her older sister, Monica. She had met a talking rabbit named Ruby. They managed to form a bond with each other and came back to Jewel Land, where she was accepted as a student at the magic school.
Akari and Ruby were out along with Sara, Miria, Garnet, Sango, Sapphie and Labra. They were going on a nature walk and Sara was wanting to get back to performing experiments. Some black magic appeared and started to posses a tree and the tree transformed into a monster and got up and ran towards the group.
The group felt the tremors and wondered if it was some type of earthquake and looked back to see that it was a tree monster that was running towards them. They screamed and started to run away.
"Ruby! What is that thing?" Akari asked
"I don't know! Something like this has never appeared in Jewel Land before" Ruby said
"Enough lets just get rid of it!" Miria said
Everyone agreed and started to change.
"Tinkle Tinkle Magical Charm Winkle Winkle Jewel Flash" They chanted
They changed from their normal outfits to their magic dresses and started to throw magic spells at the thing but it seemed to have shrugged them off, making them gasp and it tackled them, knocking them to the ground.
"Akari-chan!" Ruby and Labra said
"Miria!" Sango and Garnet said
"Sara!" Sapphie said
It had them all in their grasped and their magic still had no effect on it. More magic appeared that appeared to have been enough to let them go and it was both Harlite-sensei and Leon.
"Are you girls okay?" Leon asked
"Yeah, we're fine" Sara said
The monster then charged at them and Leon was ready to fight back and slashed its arm off with his sword.
"Nicely done Leon-kun" Miria said
The moment did not last long because it grew a new arm instantly.
"Harlite-sensei, do you have any idea what this thing is?" Leon asked
"No, something like this has never appeared in Jewel Land before" Harlite said
"Be careful, I don't think magic works on it" Ruby said
"It's true, its been shrugging off our spells" Sapphie said
Leon kept slashing the tree with his blade but no matter how many times he sliced it apart it just grew back again and again.
"We need retreat now" Leon said
Everyone agreed and started to run away. The tree started to chase after them. They started to fly away but it sent some exploding seeds at them and they were knocked out of the sky. The tree then sent a tree branch at Ruby. Akari gasped and felt her adrenaline rushing and dashed towards Ruby and used her own body as shield to protect Ruby.
"Akari-chan!" Ruby said
Akari kept getting whipped by the tree monster branch and Ruby told her to move out of the way.
"Akari! Move or else you'll get really hurt" Ruby said
"Then what about Ruby?" Akari asked
Ruby was caught off guard by this question.
"If I move out of the way then Ruby will get hurt and I can't bring myself to do that to you. You've been giving courage and advice ever since we've met and meeting was the best thing that's ever happened to me. You've become my best friend and I can't let you get hurt. I won't let you get hurt!" Akari said
"Akari-chan" Ruby said with a stunned voice
Both Akari and Ruby felt very close now, close than ever before. Akari already knew how Ruby felt about her but this was the first time that that Akari had told her how she felt about her and touched her.
Their Jewel charm started to shine bright, brighter than anything anyone has ever seen before.
"What's going on?" Sango asked
"I feel a lot of magic" Garnet said
"Labra feels Akari's magic" Labra said
Akari saw that the magical charm had grown some angel wings and started to hear some words in her head and then started to repeat the phrase out loud.
"Precure Jewel link"
Akari's hair undid itself and grew in length down to her waist and then got put up into two pigtails. Two ruby hair clips kept the pigtails together and then her hair turned pink. She wore a red and pink dress with puffy sleeves. She also wore white high socks and red Mary-Janes. She also wore a red choker with a heart on it. She wore short white gloves with hearts on the back of the gloves. She now wore ruby earrings. Some rubies around the bottom of the dress. She wore a red headband with a ruby on it.
Akari then started say some sort of catchphrase.
"Bringing courage and passion to those in need, Cure Ruby!"
Everyone was shocked to see Akari's new form. Akari herself was even more shocked.
"EH! What happened to me?" Akari asked
"I don't know, you just got a sudden power boost" Ruby said
"You called yourself Cure Ruby" Sapphie said
The tree monster then came after her again and tried to strike her but she managed to jump away just in time and was surprised to see how high she had actually jumped and she managed to stay in air, meaning she had the ability to fly. The monster then sent some more exploding seeds but she managed to dodge its attacks.
Ruby had a mental connection with Cure Ruby and spoke to her mentally.
"Cure Ruby, try making a magic circle" Ruby said to her
Cure Ruby then tried to make a magic circle and it worked. She placed her feet on the circle and pushed herself forward and then then performed an axel kick on the tree, this was enough strength to knock it over.
"Wow, I'm super strong" Cure Ruby said
Meanwhile Leon turned to his teacher.
"Harlite-sensei, what happened to Akari-chan?" Leon asked
The teacher remained silent for a moment before answering.
"I've heard stories about this since I was young and never believed that they were true. When a human and her jewelpet partner form a strong bond then a miracle will happen. A transformation to become the ultimate magician, a precure" Harlite said
"Precure?" Miria asked
"I've heard similar tales too. Legends have stated that the last time a precure has appeared was 2000 years ago" Sapphie said
"2000 years ago?! That's a long time" Sara said
Akari was just beating up the tree and she didn't know how to get rid of it.
"What do I do? I don't know how to stop it for good" Cure Ruby said
"Cure Ruby, try using magic" Ruby said
"But that will just make it stronger" Cure Ruby said
"Something is telling me that the magic power that we have now will be enough. Give it a try" Ruby said
"O-Okay here we go!" Cure Ruby said
Cure Ruby then started to gather her magic and a powerful spell came out.
"Precure: Ruby Inferno"
Cure Ruby unleashed a powerful blast of fire from her hands and this was enough power to completely destroy the monster that had attacked them.
"She actually did it!" Garnet said
"Nice going!" Sango said
"Everyone lets go back to the school and I will explain everything" Harlite said
They nodded and returned to the school, not noticing a figure that had been watching them the whole time.
