Chapter 10: Beowulf vs. Smaug:

Beowulf's POV:

My men and I were on our way to face the dragon.

"I think I see him," says Wiglaf.

The dragon has landed. "Good eye, Son," I said.

"What are we waiting for," asks Breca.

"No," I said, "I'll handle this alone!"

I then walked to face the dragon.

. . .

I then faced the dragon. "Who dares face me," asks the Dragon.

"I am King Beowulf, ruler of this land," I said.

"Beowulf? Do the names Grendel and Elvina mean anything to you," asks the dragon.

"How do you know those names," I asked.

"I am Smaug, the Father of Grendel!"

"Figures," I said.

"I was hoping I'd get a chance to kill the man who killed them," says Smaug, "what are the odds?"

"I defeated them, Dragon," I said, "I can defeat you!"

"You were a younger man at the time," says Smaug, "now, look at you!"

"We'll see about that," I said.

Smaug and I then fought, and he was right! I was outmatched! The dragon was beating me!

Wiglaf's POV:

We were all watching. "We have to do something," I said. I then saw the others running away. "Breca?"

"I love Beowulf like a brother," says Breca, "but I also want to stay alive!"

They were all running away like cowards! Not me! I am going to my Father's aid!
