Rent a Girlfriend Fanfic: Unexpected emotions.

This is a continuation and a scenario prediction of the main manga after chapter 339, in which Mini and Kazuya are on a practice date and have just taken a photo from the photobooth. Kazuya and Mini go on a rehearsal trip at Joypolis so Kazuya can get ready for his perfect date with Chizuru. They examine the park, taking notes on essential details such as the layout and the greatest rides. After Mini gets hit on by a guy, Kazuya learns how beautiful she is and sees her in a new perspective. Mini, pretending to be Chizuru, uses Chizuru's cat-eyes to direct Kazuya and even requests that he call her cute. Kazuya agreed, and Mini started blushing when she was out of sight. They were on ride where it felt like they were flying. and they are about to enter the fortune forest.

Mini and Kazuya stood at the entrance of the Fortune Forest, a fanciful attraction that promised to disclose their future. The air was filled with the aroma of cherry blossoms and the quiet hum of the park, creating the ideal combination of thrill and mystery.

A screen awaited her input, and the prompt blinked invitingly: "Are you a couple? Yes / No."

Mini's finger hovered above the selections. Her thoughts raced, divided between what she imagined Chizuru would do and her own developing feelings. "What would Chizuru do?" she questioned herself. Chizuru, ever cautious and professional, would probably say "No." Regardless of the dates, she was still exploring her emotions and keeping boundaries.

But Mini had a different pull. She was filled with curiosity and a desire to move beyond the façade of their practice date. Her heart trembled as she considered pushing "Yes." 'Why should I always do what Chizuru does?' She thought, glanced at Kazuya, who was observing her with interest and patience.

Mini's thoughts turned to the times they had shared today. The laughs, the photobooth images, and Kazuya's genuine stare at her. There was something genuine there, which she could not ignore. 'I have spent the day behaving like Chizuru, but maybe it's time to be myself. Only for a moment.'

She breathed deeply, her finger trembling slightly. 'This is only for practice, she reminded herself. But... maybe it is also an opportunity to experience what it's like to be his girlfriend, if only for a moment.' Her heart hammered in her chest, full of excitement and nerves.

"Mini-chan, you, okay?" Kazuya's voice pierced through her thoughts, kind yet anxious. His gaze, filled with love and honesty, made her choose both difficult and exhilarating.

Mini grinned at him, having made up her mind. She pressed "Yes" with a firm click. "Yeah, I'm fine," she answered, holding her voice steady. "Just wanted to make sure we're doing this right."

Kazuya nodded, perplexed but eager to go ahead. "Alright, let's see what our destiny has in store for us."

As they entered the Fortune Forest, the soft glow of lanterns illuminated their route, creating a lovely atmosphere around them. The aroma of cherry blossoms filled the air, and the distant sound of musical chimes added to the enchanting atmosphere. Each step they took seemed to bring them closer together, both physically and emotionally.

'What am I doing?' Mini pondered, her heart still pumping. 'I had never felt this way before. Is it due to the setting, or is there something else?'

When Mini and Kazuya entered the Fortune Forest, they were immediately captivated by the comfortable and magical ambiance. The air was heavy with the perfume of cherry blossoms, and the walkway was lined with softly lit lanterns that created a warm, inviting light. The sounds of a distant stream and delicate wind chimes produced an almost heavenly atmosphere.

'Wow, this location is lovely,' Mini thought, full of astonishment. We feel like we have stepped into another world.

After traveling a little further, they came across a lovely alcove set amid the trees. An elderly fortune teller sat at a small, elaborate table decorated with mysterious symbols and antique artifacts. She looked up as they approached, her eyes full of knowledge and tenderness.

"Welcome, young couple," she said kindly, her voice gentle yet powerful. "I can already sense a strong connection between you two."

Kazuya and Mini exchanged a brief, embarrassed glance, both flushing slightly. The fortune teller laughed, a beautiful and musical sound that relaxed them.

"You remind me of my old love," she explained, a wistful smile on her lips. "Such strong potential, but also many challenges ahead."

Kazuya cleared his throat, attempting to hide his uneasiness. "Uh, thank you," he replied hesitantly. "We're just here for a reading."

The fortune teller nodded; her eyes light up with pleasure. "Of course." Let's see what the cards show."

Mini felt her heart pounding as the fate teller began her ritual. 'This is all for fun,' she told herself, but a small part of her was genuinely interested. She observed as the elderly woman shuffled the cards with practiced ease and set them out in a complicated pattern.

After a minute of silence, the fortune teller spoke. "These cards depict a story with great potential. You both have the ability to bring out the best in each other, but it will not be easy. There will be temptations and hardships that, if not handled carefully, may lead to regret.

Mini felt her heart skip a beat. 'High potential? Temptations? 'She looked at Kazuya, who seemed as taken away as she was. 'Could this actually be about us?'

"If you accept fate and work together, you can live a happy life," the fortune teller added. "But if you give in to the temptations, you will live a life of regret."

Kazuya shifted uncomfortably. "We're not really into reading cards and stuff, but thanks for the insight."

Mini nodded as her mind raced. 'Is this a sign?' She could not get the sensation that this was more than simply a recreational activity. 'Perhaps there is something special between us.'

As they left the alcove, Kazuya looked at Mini, his expression a mix of confusion and wonder. "That was... interesting," he commented. "I didn't expect to hear something like that."

Mini forced a smile, still processing everything. "Yeah, it was definitely unexpected," she replied.

As Mini and Kazuya headed back to Joypolis' main area, they were surrounded by the bright lights and cheery noises of arcade games. They explored other rides and settings to see whether they were appropriate for Kazuya's forthcoming date with Chizuru. Even though they were having fun, Mini could not help thinking about the fortune teller's words. Her comments resonated in her head, adding an element of contemplation to their joyful exploration.

Mini reflected quietly, "There is great potential, but there are many challenges ahead. Was she referring to Kazuya and me? Or was it simply a generic reading?"

"Hey, Mini, what do you think about this ride?" Kazuya's voice interrupted her thoughts. He pointed to a towering roller coaster with loops and twists that were both exciting and terrifying.

Mini returned to reality, giving the ride a swift once-over. "I believe it is perfect. "It's exciting and memorable," she said, attempting to seem excited. 'Focus, Mini; this is for Kazuya and Chizuru's date.'

They continued exploring, with Kazuya taking notes on his phone. They tried a few more attractions, laughed at their funny photo booth pictures, and even played some arcade games. Despite the fun, Mini could not get over the underlying tension she felt after the fortune reading. She kept stealing looks at Kazuya, who was unaware of her inner anguish.

'He's just my buddy,' Mini told herself. 'But what if there is more?'

After a while, they were finished scouting Joypolis. Kazuya had prepared a detailed list of notes and ideas for his meeting with Chizuru. As they approached the exit, Mini experienced an odd mix of satisfaction and lingering curiosity about her emotions.

They sat in comfortable silence on the train back home. The repetitive clatter of the train wheels was almost hypnotic, giving Mini more time to mull over the day's events and the fortune teller's statements.

When they stepped off the train, Kazuya stretched and patted his tummy. "Man, I am starving. "How about you?"

Mini laughed, her own stomach grumbling in agreement. "Yeah, I could definitely eat. There is that bar close to home that serves great food. Want to go there?"

Kazuya's face lit up. "Sounds perfect. Let's go."

Mini and Kazuya found a nice table in the corner of the pub, away from the hectic crowd. The soft lighting and rustic decor created a sense of comfort and closeness in the space. The fragrance of fried food filled the air, making Mini's tummy rumble.

"Let's order some fried food and beer," Mini said, her mind racing with mixed emotions. 'I need to get rid of these emotions somehow.'

Kazuya nodded in agreement and flagged down a waiter. "We'll have a platter of your fried specialties and two beers, please."

As they waited for their order, Mini's mind kept returning to the fortune teller's comments and the conflicting feelings she had for Kazuya. I cannot let it get to me. I need to clear my mind.

When the server brought their dinner and beverages, Mini wasted no time. She grabbed her bottle and took a long, purposeful swig, almost as if trying to block out her thoughts.

"Whoa, Mini-chan, slow down," Kazuya replied, slightly concerned. "You don't want to get too hammered."

Mini waved him off, her eyes narrowed in determination. "I simply need to unwind, Kazuya-kun. It has been a long day."

Mini continued to drink despite Kazuya's attempts to slow her down. One beer went into two, then three, and before she knew it, she had consumed eight beers. The room began to spin slightly, and her cheeks flushed with rosy colour.

"Mini, seriously, you need to slow down," Kazuya implored, his anxiety rising. "This isn't like you."

But Mini simply chuckled, a little inebriated sound departing her lips. "Do not worry, Kazuya! "I am fine!" She finished her sentence by clinking her glass to his. 'Maybe if I drink enough, I'll be able to put these strange feelings away.'

Kazuya groaned and shook his head. "I do not believe this is a good idea. You'll regret this tomorrow."

Mini came closer to him, her eyes half-lidded yet full of mischief and vulnerability. "Maybe, but right now, I just want to forget everything and have fun."

Kazuya gazed at her, his face softening. "Mini, don't do this just for fun. We can simply communicate, you understand."

Mini's heart skipped a beat as he spoke, and she felt a stab of remorse. 'He's such a nice guy, constantly looking out for me. Why am I making things so complicated?'

Chizuru was sitting in her nice apartment, enjoying a rare moment of peace, when her phone chimed. She glanced at the screen and noticed Kazuya's name flashing. As she answered the phone, her heart skipped a beat with a mix of curiosity and concern.

"Hello, Kazuya. "What's up?" She asked, attempting to keep her tone casual.

"Chizuru, can you do me a favour?" Kazuya's voice sounded somewhat strained. "Can you get some pain relievers and a change of clothes for Mini ready? "She's, uh, drunk."

Chizuru's eyebrows rose in surprise. "Drunk? "What were you two doing?"

"We were at a bar eating and drinking, and she suddenly started drinking a lot," Kazuya explained, sounding evasive. "Now she's really drunk, and I need your help."

Chizuru felt a stab of displeasure. Why were they in a bar together? Why didn't he inform me about it? "Okay, I'll get those ready," she said, her tone even. "Where are you now?"

"We're still at the pub, only a few blocks from your house. Thank you, Chizuru. I owe you one."

Chizuru stared at her phone for a moment after Kazuya hung up, a mix of confusion and unease settling in. ''Why were they spending time together? This was not the first time she had heard about Kazuya and Mini spending time alone.' She could not shake the feeling of being left out, a sensation that gnawed at her insides.

She hurriedly got some pain relievers and a change of clothes for Mini, all the while feeling a knot of envy form in her chest. 'This is not the first time they have hung out privately, right? Why is he spending so much time with her without telling me?'

As she waited for them, Chizuru's thoughts were filled with displeasure and insecurity. 'Am I paranoid? Is there something else to their relationship that I am not seeing?'

The jealousy that sprang astonished her. She was not used to feeling this way, particularly not about Kazuya. But when she thought about it, she realized how frequently Mini's name came up in discussion. 'He frequently spends time together with her, but he never tells me. Why?'

Chizuru paced the room while she waited for them to return to Mini's apartment. She could not resist comparing herself to Mini. 'Kazuya never gets flustered with her. He can be himself around her. But with me... it feels like he is always walking on eggshells.'

The realization stung. She had always prided herself on keeping a professional demeanour, on being the calm, collected one. But now she worried if the distance had driven Kazuya away, causing him to seek comfort and companionship elsewhere.

The sound of the door opening jolted her out of her thoughts. She turned to find Kazuya straining to lift Mini inside, her arms wrapped around his neck. "Hey," Kazuya said, his voice straining. "Sorry about this."

Chizuru's eyes widened in astonishment, jealousy welling up inside her, but she maintained her cool attitude. "What happened?"

"She had too much to drink," Kazuya explained. Kazuya gently laid Mini down on her futon, trying to make her as comfortable as possible. Chizuru stood nearby, arms crossed, watching the scene unfold. Suddenly, Mini's voice broke the tense silence.

As they nestled in, Mini murmured louder, "Kiss me, Kazuya."

Both Kazuya and Chizuru froze, their eyes widening with surprise. "What did you say?" Kazuya inquired, his tone just above a whisper.

Mini looked up at him, her eyes hazy. "You should always kiss the girl at the end of the date," she muttered, a dopey grin creeping across her lips.

Chizuru's heart skipped a beat, and a searing sting of jealousy passed through her. What exactly does she mean by 'date'? She strained to keep her voice steady as she turned to face Mini. "Mini-chan, what do you mean by 'date'?"

Mini giggled, unaware of the tension in the room. "We went on a date to Joypolis." You know, to check out the place for your actual date with Kazuya."

Chizuru felt like the ground had been pulled out from under her. She stared at Kazuya, her eyes reflecting the betrayal she felt. "You went to Joypolis without telling me?" Her voice was a mixture of hurt and confusion.

Kazuya looked flustered; his hands raised defensively. "It wasn't like that, Chizuru-san. We just went to make sure everything would be perfect for our date."

Chizuru's mind was racing. A surprise? Or something more? She took a deep breath, trying to steady herself. "You could have told me. Instead, you went with Mini-chan."

Mini, sensing the strain, attempted to sit up with slow movements. "It was only practice, Chizuru. Kazuya wants to make you happy.

But Chizuru could not shake his feelings of betrayal and jealousy. She fixed her focus on Kazuya, her eyes looking for an explanation. "Is that really all it was, Kazuya-kun?"

Kazuya nodded vigorously, his eyes begging. I swear, Chizuru-san. I just wanted to make sure everything went perfectly on our date."

Chizuru's heart fell. Joypolis? Without telling me? She felt betrayed. "Kazuya, your date does not have to be perfect. I do not care about the activities; all I want is to see the real you and get to know you better.

Kazuya stared down as shame washed over him. "I apologize, Chizuru-san. "I assumed I had to be perfect for you."

Chizuru shook her head, and her voice softened. "I do not want to see 'ideal' Kazuya. You are good enough on your own."

Kazuya's eyes widened, and he realized his error. "This was my final chance to win you over," he added, his voice cracking. "I believed that if I made the date ideal, the probe would be concluded. I believed the investigation was to see whether I was worthy of dating you."

Chizuru took Kazuya to another room, away from Mini, where she could not hear them. "You interpreted it incorrectly," she stated gently. "The investigation is about discovering the true you and getting to know you better. It's about seeing if we'd really be a pair forever."

Kazuya nodded carefully, pondering her words. "I just didn't want to mess it up."

Chizuru exhaled, feeling both relieved and sad. "I do not desire a relationship like my parents', in which my father abandoned my pregnant mother. I want a relationship like my grandparents', where you stay together until death separates you.

Kazuya nodded, understanding the depth of her words. "I want that too, Chizuru-san. I want to be someone you can rely on forever."

Chizuru gave him a small smile. "Then be yourself, Kazuya-kun. That's all I ask."

Chizuru took a deep breath and met Kazuya's gaze with a mixture of vulnerability and determination. "I'm sorry for putting so much pressure on you, but I need to be absolutely certain our relationship will work," she remarked, her voice soothing yet forceful. "I understand it is very impossible to guarantee, but I'm not interested in one-night stands or flings. That is also why I continue to reject Umi. I want something real and long-lasting."

Kazuya nodded, taking in her words. His customary anxiety appeared to fade, replaced by a sudden earnestness. I understand, Chizuru-san. I really do."

She continued, her heart hammering. "Can we move our date to another location? I want to do things that none of us has done before, to make new memories together. I do not want to stick to a script as I do as a renter. "I just want to go with the flow."

Kazuya grinned, relief and warmth reflected in his eyes. "I'll cancel all my plans on that day then. "No more overthinking; just us."

Chizuru's expression brightened, and a genuine grin formed on her lips. Thank you, Kazuya-kun. We can stay at home and watch movies because it is expected to rain. We can also cook together. Maybe I'll attempt that new recipe I've been looking forward to."

Kazuya's eyes lit up with excitement. "I like that idea. It sounds perfect."

After a minute, she asked Kazuya, "How was Joypolis? "Have you found anything interesting?"

Kazuya paused before responding, "It was fantastic. We researched numerous rides and attractions that would have been ideal for our date. Mini-chan was a great assistance."

Chizuru nodded, taking in the information. She focused her attention on Mini, who was beginning to stir. "I'll check on her," she excused herself, leaving the room. She returned shortly with a bowl in hand, prepared for what she knew was coming.

As she approached Mini, the younger girl groaned and, as if on cue, vomited in the bowl. Chizuru held it steady, her expression composed despite the unpleasantness. 'Poor thing,' she reasoned, she definitely overdid it.

When Mini was finished, Chizuru washed the bowl and laid it aside. She then lay down next to Mini, her face softening. "Hey, Mini," she said softly, "Can you tell me more about the date?"

Mini, her eyes hazy and unfocused, murmured, "I acted like you... to make the date as realistic as possible."

Chizuru's interest was aroused. "How did you act?"

Mini sighed, her voice garbled. "I played the closed-off Chizuru. "You know, professional, don't let anyone in..."

Chizuru's heart fell. 'Is this the way they perceive me?' She wondered, a twinge of remorse coming over her. 'I was so intent on establishing limits that I never gave Kazuya a fair shot.'

"Thank you for being honest, Mini-chan," Chizuru whispered tenderly, moving a strand of hair away from the girl's face. "Get some rest now."

She stood up and walked towards Kazuya's room, her steps slow and deliberate. Knocking softly on the door, she waited for his response.

"Come in," Kazuya called out.

Chizuru entered the room, her face a mix of determination and vulnerability. "Kazuya-kun," she said, her voice quiet. "I apologize for being so closed-off. I had not realized how much it upset you. From now on, I'll attempt to be more open and show my true personality."

Kazuya's eyes widened in surprise, and a pleasant smile appeared on his face. Thank you, Chizuru-san.

He went to the bathroom to take a shower, leaving Chizuru standing in the room, feeling both relieved and concerned. She turned and returned to her own room, where Mini was sleeping comfortably. She put some additional medicines and a glass of water on the bedside, knowing Mini would need them in the morning.

As Chizuru settled into bed, her thoughts turned to Mini and Kazuya's date. They seem closer than I expected, she reflected, a feeling of jealousy coming in. 'Mini is his go-to source for advice on me. Perhaps she has impacted his acts and words.'

The early sunlight crept through the drapes, throwing a soft glow across the room. Chizuru awoke from her sleep, the events of the previous night still vivid in her thoughts. She could sense Mini stirring next to her, signalling that she was awake. Chizuru quietly got out of bed and made her way to Mini, taking care not to wake Kazuya, who was still sleeping soundly.

Mini started up groggily, seeking for the medicines and drink that Chizuru had generously placed by her bed. She gulped down the water, grimacing from her lingering headache. Chizuru entered the room, her countenance a mixture of concern and interest.

"How are you feeling?" Chizuru inquired gently; her tone gentle so as not to aggravate Mini's headache.

Mini touched her temples and winced slightly. "Like I got hit by a truck," she murmured. "Thanks for the painkillers."

Chizuru hesitated before deciding to use the occasion to ask some inquiries. "Mini, what happened yesterday? I wanted to learn more about what you mentioned.

Mini grumbled and shook her head. "Chizuru-san, I've got a nasty headache. Can't we do this right now?

Chizuru nodded in agreement. "Okay, I have to leave for university shortly anyhow. But we should chat when I get back."

As she turned to leave, Mini's voice interrupted her. "Chizuru-san, wait."

Chizuru glanced back, astonished at Mini's serious expression despite her hangover.

"What happened yesterday is real," Mini stated, her voice calm despite her condition. "My feelings for Kazuya are new, and I want to explore them. I'm not sure how compatible we are or whether it will work out, but I'd want to try."

Chizuru felt a sudden shock. "What changed, Mini-chan?"

Mini sighed, appearing thoughtful. "I love how Kazuya loves you, Chizuru-san. I want to feel that type of love for myself. Perhaps it will not be the same, but there is only one way to find out.

Chizuru's mind raced. 'She loves the way Kazuya loves me?' The thought was both flattering and unsettling. "Do you think Kazuya-kun would love you the same way he loves me?" she asked, her voice tinged with uncertainty.

Mini shrugged, her look genuine. "I do not know. But there's only one way to find out, and that's to date him and feel his love firsthand, rather than simply investigating."

Chizuru felt a range of feelings, including envy, anxiety, and a peculiar sense of understanding. "What if it doesn't work out?" she inquired calmly.

Mini's stare was unrelenting. Then it does not. But at least I won't have regrets about not trying."

Chizuru took a long breath, feeling the impact of Mini's words. "Okay, Mini-chan. If that is how you feel, I will take the challenge. From now on, it is a war for Kazuya kun's heart.

Mini nodded, a small smile playing on her lips despite her headache. "May the best woman win."

Chizuru left for university, her mind swirling with thoughts. This changes everything. As she walked, she could not help but wonder how this new dynamic would affect her relationship with Kazuya. She realized she had to step up, not just to win Kazuya's heart, but to truly show him who she was.
