Our heroes are just outside Galar Mine 2 and they have just woken up and were having breakfast together.
"I'm glad to have slept outside again," Chloe said.
"You still slept in the tent," Ash said.
"I meant outside the mine, Ash," Chloe said.
"Yeah, me too," Roan said.
"I didn't mind sleeping in the mine," Ash said.
"It really was a beautiful mine, I'll say that," Chloe said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu squeaked.
"Say Ash do you already know which Pokémon you are going to use for the Gym Challenge?" Roan asked.
"Well since the Gym Leader is a fire expert, I don't think it would be useful to use Grookey," Ash said.
"Grookey?" Grookey chattered.
"I'm sorry Grookey you are at a disadvantage against fire types," Ash said.
"Groo, Grookey," Grookey chattered in disappointment.
"He does have a fighting spirit and doesn't like it when he can't show it," Roan said.
"Well they say Pokémon become more and more like their trainers over time," Chloe said.
"Grookey is proof of it," Roan said.
"I know you are always looking forward to a Gym Challenge and that is what is so awesome about you," Ash said. "But I would also love it if you would cheer for us."
Grookey stuck his thumb up with a smile on his face. "Grookey," he chattered.
"Thanks for being such a good sport Grookey," Ash said. "And I promise I'll use you for another Gym Challenge."
"Grookey," Grookey chattered.
"And to cheer you up, I'll give you some extra Pokémon food," Chloe said, and she gave Grookey some food.
"Grookey," Grookey chattered happily.
"Chloe can I ask you something?" Ash asked.
"Sure Ash," Chloe said.
"Would you help me with my training?" Ash asked.
"Sure," Chloe said. "If you help me with the dishes, I'll be done soon and we can start earlier."
"Okay, that's a deal," Ash said.
"I'm going to explore the area," Roan said.
"Have fun Roan," Ash said.
"And be back in time for lunch," Chloe said.
"Okay Chloe," Roan said.
Roan packed his bag and put his Pokèballs in his pocket and left. And without realizing it, Ash and co were being watched by Team Rocket.
"Okay we have two options what we can do," Jessie said.
"One is to stay here and spy on these two twerps," James said.
"Or we follow the other twerp," Meowth said.
"So what do we do?" Jessie asked.
"We follow the other twerp, James and Meowth said.
Team Rocket started following Roan.
Ash and Chloe did the dishes together and then they started with Ash's training session. Chloe had Yamper, Sobble and Ash's Grookey by her side, while Ash fought Pikachu, Corvisquire and Chewtle.
"Are you ready for it Ash?" Chloe asked.
"Totally!" Ash said.
"Okay Grookey I know you normally listen to Ash but for this practice fight I'll be your trainer for now," Chloe said.
"Grookey," Grookey chattered.
"Chewtle this is a practice battle so you can get a bit of an idea of what a Gym battle will be like," Ash said.
Chewtle nodded his head. "Chew," he snapped.
Because this will be your first Gym Battle and I think you're gonna be awesome," Ash said.
"Chewtle," Chewtle snapped.
"Okay, let's get started," Ash said.
"You may can make the first moves," Chloe said.
"I'll show you what we've got, Pikachu use THUHDERBOLT, Corvisquire use PLUCK and Chewtle use WATER GUN!" Ash commanded
"Dodge it," Chloe commanded.
Pikachu, Corvisquire and Chewtle used their attacks, but Yamper, Sobble and Grookey managed to dodge the attacks.
"We missed," Ash said.
"Okay time for the counterattack, Yamper use NUZZLE on Chewtle," Chloe commanded.
"Yamper!" Yamper barked.
"Grookey use RAZOR LEAF on Pikachu!" Chloe commanded.
"Grookey!" Grookey chattered.
"And Sobble use BUBBLE BEAM on Corvisquire," Chloe commanded.
"Sobble," Sobble clicked.
"Alright guys dodge it," Ash said.
The three Pokémon launched their attacks. Pikachu and Corvisquire managed to dodge the attacks, but Chewtle was too late and was hit by Yamper's Nuzzle.
"Oh no Chewtle," Ash said.
"Chewtle!" Chewtle snapped.
"Are you okay?" Ash asked.
Chewtle nodded his head. "Chew," he snapped.
"Think you can keep going?" Ash asked.
"Chew, Chewtle," Chewtle snapped.
"That's the spirit," Ash said. "Okay guys we're going for it."
The practice battle continued.
Meanwhile, Roan ha walked quite a distance, he looked around and saw all the different the Pokemon. Suddenly, Roan heard a noise.
"What was that?" Roan asked himself, he grabbed one of his Pokéballs. "Go Scorbunny."
"Scorbunny," Scorbunny squeaked.
"There is something there," Roan said.
"Bunny," Scorbunny squeaked.
Roan and Scorbunny were paying close attention to see if the sound came back again. Then Roan heard something coming from behind the bushes.
"So there it is," Roan said. "Okay Scorbunny use FLAMETRHOWER."
"Scorbunny," Scorbunny squeaked.
Scorbunny used his attack and aimed it at the bushes. Screams sounded and Team Rocket jumped out of the bushes.
"That's hot!" Team Rocket yelled.
"I should have known," Roan said.
"Was that really necessary?" James asked.
"Then you shouldn't have spied on me," Roan said.
"Such a big mouth for a twerp that is about to be defeated," Jessie said.
"Because we're going to tell you something," James said.
"Prepare for trouble!" Jessie said.
"And make it double!" James said.
"To protect the world from devastation!" Jessie said.
"To unite all people within our nation!" James said.
"To denounce the evils of truth and love!" Jessie said.
"To extend our reach to the stars above!" James said.
"Jessie!" Jessie said.
"And James!" James said.
"Team Rocket blasts off at the speed of light!" Jessie said.
"Surrender now or prepare for a fight!" James said.
"Meowth! That's right!" Meowth said.
"Wobbuffet!" Cried Wobbuffet.
"You and your stupid motto don't intimidate me," Roan said.
"Let's see what you can do on your own against us," Jessie said.
"I will show you," Roan said, he turned to Scorbunny. "Ready to fight Scorbunny?"
Scorbunny nodded his head. "Bunny," he squeaked.
Team Rocket grabbed their Pokéballs, ready to fight. But then suddenly there was another sound and everyone started to get sleepy.
"What's happening?" Jessie asked.
"I suddenly feel the need to take a nap," Meowth said.
"Yeah me too," James said.
"We have to stay awake Scorbunny," Roan said.
"Bunny, Scorbunny," Scorbunny squeaked.
"We have to…," Roan began.
Roan did not finish his sentence, he, his Scorbunny and Team Rocket fell to the ground and were all asleep.
At the camp, Ash and Chloe had finished the practice fight. Chloe just finished making lunch and was serving it to everyone.
"Roan is not back yet," Chloe said.
"Maybe he's on his way here, he knew he had to be back in time," Ash said.
"I'm gonna call him, Chloe said, she grabbed her Rotom-Phone and called Roan, but there was no answer. "He's not picking up."
"Let's go look for him then," Ash said.
"Good idea," Chloe said.
"Corvisquire fly around here and see if you see Roan," Ash said.
Corvisquire nodded his head. "Cor," he crowed.
Corvisquire rose into the air. Ash and Chloe called the rest of their Pokémon back into their Pokéballs and followed the path Roan had taken and went looking for him.
After a while, Ash and Chloe still hadn't found Roan. Chloe tried calling him again, but he just didn't answer.
"I still can't get a hold of him," Chloe said.
"He has to be here somewhere," Ash said. "Roan!"
"Roan, where are you? Chloe asked.
"Pikachu!" Pikachu squeaked.
"Yamp, Yamper!" Yamper barked.
"He's not here either," Ash said.
"Something's happened to him, if he was okay he'd just answer his phone," Chloe said.
"I don't know what happened, but we're going to find Roan and I know he'll be okay," Ash said.
Corvisquire cry sounded from the air. Ash and Chloe looked up and saw him coming flying.
"Corvisquire did you find Roan?" Ash asked.
"Cor, Cor," Corvisquire crowed, nodding his head.
"Good, take us to him," Ash said.
Corvisquire started flying again and Ash and Chloe followed him. Corvisquire stopped flying and they found Roan and Scorbunny sleeping on the ground.
"There's Roan," Ash said.
"And Scorbunny," Chloe said.
Ash and Chloe hurried over to Roan and Scorbunny.
"They are both asleep," Ash said.
"And they're not the only ones," Chloe said.
"Team Rocket, what are they doing here?" Ash asked.
"That's not important now we need to we what happened to Roan and Scorbunny," Chloe said.
Ash knelt beside Roan and shook him gently. "Roan wake up," he said.
"Scorbunny open your eyes," Chloe said.
"Hey Roan," Ash said.
Roan slowly began to open his eyes. "Ash what are you doing here?" He asked.
"We went looking for you when you didn't come back for lunch," Ash said.
"It's lunch time already?" Roan asked.
"Look who's awake too," Chloe said.
"Scorbunny," Roan said.
"Bunny," A still half asleep Scorbunny squeaked.
"What happened?" Chloe asked.
"I don't know for sure," Roan said.
"Did Team Rocket do something?" Ash asked.
"No, I caught them, we were about to fight and next thing I know I wake up here," Roan said.
"Can you remember anything?" Chloe asked.
"I heard something," Roan said.
"What did you hear?" Ash asked.
"I'm not sure, but it sounded like singing," Roan said.
"Singing?" Chloe asked.
"Yes, that's what it sounded like," Roan said, he pointed a direction of the route. "It came from over there."
"Let's go take a look," Chloe said.
Ash helped Roan upright. Roan grabbed Scorbunny's Pokéball and called him back.
"Wait what do we do about Team Rocket?" Roan asked.
"We leave them here, then they can't cause trouble for us," Ash said.
Ash and Co walked in the direction Roan said the singing was coming from. And Team Rocket continued sleeping on the ground.
Further along the route, Ash, Roan and Chloe found trainers and their Pokémon sleeping on the ground.
"What's going on here?" Roan asked. "Everyone is asleep."
"But look at them, they all have drawings on their faces," Chloe said.
"I didn't have that," Roan said.
"Pikachu, the singing and drawing on the face," Ash said, he turned to Pikachu. "You don't think so?
"Pika," Pikachu squeaked, shrugging his shoulders.
"No, it can't,be it's impossible that she's here," Ash said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu squeaked.
"Come let's wake them up, maybe someone here can tell us what's going on," Chloe said.
Ash, Roan and Chloe began to wake up the trainers who were sleeping.
After waking up all the trainers who had fallen asleep and asking what was going on, they hadn't really made any progress.
"They all said the same thing Roan said, they heard singing and then they fell asleep," Chloe said.
"It must be a Pokémon doing this," Ash said.
"Yes, a Pokémon that knows the move SING," Chloe said.
Roan came running. Guys, "I have new information," he said.
"What is it, Roan?" Chloe asked.
"One of the trainers saw something," Roan said.
"What did he see?" Ash asked.
"He saw something pink and round," Roan said.
"No, that can't be," Ash said.
"Pika," Pikachu squeaked.
"There's no way she could be here in Galar," Ash said.
"Is there something Ash?" Chloe asked.
"No, I'm just talking to myself," Ash said.
"Let's go find the pink and round thing," Chloe said.
"Is that such a good idea? We might fall asleep too," Roan said.
"But if we don't do something, every trainer that passes by will fall asleep," Chloe said.
"Okay, we'll do it," Roan said.
"Roan did that trainer say where he saw that pink and round thing go?" Chloe asked.
"No, he didn't," Roan said.
"Take us to him and then we can ask him," Chloe said.
Ash and the others went looking for the trainer. After they found and he pointed them in the direction where he saw the pink and round thing they walked in that direction. And then all of a sudden a Jigglypuff appeared
"Jiggly," Jigglypuff cried.
"Look it's a Jigglyfuff," Chloe said.
"A Jigglypuff," Roan said, he grabbed his Rotom-Phone and opened the Pokédex.
Jigglypuff, a Pink Balloon Pokémon. By freely changing the wavelength of its voice, Jigglypuff sings a mysterious melody sure to make any listener sleepy.
"This is the Pokémon causing all this sleep?" Roan asked.
"Don't tell me you're that same Jigglypuff," Ash said.
Jigglypuff nodded her head happily and pulled out her marker. "Jiggly!" She cried.
"How cute she thinks her mircrophone is," Chloe said.
"Oh no, so it really is you," Ash said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu squeaked.
"Ash are you okay?" Roan asked.
"I know this Jigglypuff, she's the one that makes everyone here fall asleep," Ash said.
"Are you sure?" Roan asked.
"I'm sure, I've dealt with her before and she is trouble," Ash said.
"Jigglypuff," Jigglypuff cried.
"No, don't start singing," Ash said.
But it was too late, Jigglypuff started singing. Ash, Roan, Chloe and their Pokémon fell asleep. When Jigglypuff done singing she saw the sleeping trainers and their Pokémon, she got angry, she took the cap off her marker, she started drawing on their faces and when she finished she walked away angrily.
After they woke up Team Rocket walked along the route looking for Ash and his friends. Team Rocket heard noise coming from the bushes and Jigglypuff jumped out.
"Jiggly!" Jigglypuff cried.
"A Jigglypuff," Jessie said.
"Is that the same Jigglypuff we have seen before?" James asked.
"That can't be, there is no way she made it all the way here in Galar," Meowth said.
Jigglypuff picked up her marker. "Jiggly," she cried.
"It's her!' Team Rocket screamed.
"Jigglypuff," Jigglypuff cried.
"No, don't!" Team Rocket yelled.
Team Rocket couldn't stop Jigglypuff either, she started singing and Team Rocket also fell asleep again. Jigglypuff finished singing and got angry again when she saw that Team Rocket had fallen asleep, she took the cap off her marker and drew on their faces. And when she finished she walked away so angrily, leaving Team Rocket asleep.
A few moments later, Ash, Roan and Chloe woke up, busy washing of the drawings that Jigglypuff made off their faces their Pokémon.
"That Jigglypuff hasn't changed a bit," Ash said.
"Pika," Pikachu squeaked.
"So you know this Jigglypuff, then?" Chloe asked.
"Yes, I have encountered her on my previous travels," Ash said.
"Why is she doing this?" Roan asked.
"She thinks she's a super star," Ash said.
"I was talking about drawing on the faces," Roan said.
"She does that because she can't stand everyone falling asleep when she sings," Ash said.
"So now we know that Jigglypuff is the one who puts everyone here to sleep," Roan said.
"Then now we need a plan to stop her," Chloe said.
"If we take her marker away from her then she thinks she lost her microphone and maybe that will cause her to stop singing," Roan said.
"And t'll stop her from drawing on anybody's face," Chloe said.
"We have to find her first," Ash said.
"And then just hope she didn't sing more people to sleep," Roan said.
Ash, Roan and Chloe went looking for the Jigglypuff but instead of finding her they found Team Rocket sleeping.
"Jigglypuff has been here," Roan said.
"Yep this is her work," Ash said.
"What's going on?" Jessie asked still half asleep.
James was also slowly beginning to wake up. "It's the twerps," he said.
"The twerps!" Team Rocket yelled.
"Prepare for trouble!" Jessie said.
"And make it double!" James said.
"Oh just stop, you've already done this bit," Roan said.
"But the other twerps haven't heard it yet, at least not today," Jessie said.
"Yeah with those drawing on your faces, you don't look intimidating," Ash said.
Team Rocket to each other and then saw the drawings Jigglypuff had made on their faces.
"Our faces!" Meowth yelled.
"We look like circus clowns!" Jessie yelled.
"We need to get this off our face as soon as possible," Meowth said.
"Stay here until we get this cleaned up our faces," James said.
Team Rocket began to run away.
"We're not going to stay here right?" Ash asked.
"No, of course not," Chloe said.
"Let's go find that Jigglypuff," Roan said.
Ash, Roan and Chloe went looking for the Jigglypuff again. After searching for nearly two hours, they found her.
"There she is," Ash said.
"Okay we have to approach her carefully," Chloe said.
Ash and the others walked cautiously toward Jigglypuff. Suddenly a mechanical hand appeared from the sky and grabbed Jigglypuff and put him in a glass cage.
"What was that?" Roan said.
"Oh that's Team Rocket I'm sure," Chloe said.
"Good guess Twerpette," Jessie said.
"Okay what do you guys want with Jigglypuff?" Ash asked.
We thought it will make a nice gift for our boss," Meowth said.
"Oh yeah?" James asked.
"Yes, this how I picture it," Meowth said.
"We don't have time for your fantasy now," Jessie said.
Jigglypuff hit the glass of the cage with her marker but there was no crack not even a scratch.
"Nice try but that cage is unbreakable," Meowth said.
"And soundproof so your singing won't put us to sleep," James said.
"What can we do now?" Roan asked.
"That cage may be unbreakable but that rope is not," Ash said, he grabbed Corvisquire's Pokéball and tossed it. "Corvisquire I choose you!"
"Corvisquire," Corvisquire crowed.
"Fly toward the balloon and cut that rope," Ash commanded.
Corvisquire flew toward the balloon, and before Team Rocket could react, Corvisquire had cut the rope. He grabbed the rope and started flying down with the cage.
"Hey you can't just do that," James said.
"We won't let you get away with it," Meowth said.
Jessie grabbed her Pokéball and summoned Hatenna. "Hatenna use PSYBEAM," she commanded.
"Hatenna," Hatenna cried.
Hatenna used her attack one managed to hit Corvisquire, this caused him to let go of the rope and he and Jigglypuff fell down. Corvisquire fell to the ground and the cage with the Jigglypuff disappeared into the bushes.
"Oh no!" Roan shouted.
"Corvisquire!" Ash shouted.
"The Jigglypuff!" Chloe shouted.
Ash hurried toward Corvisquire. "Are you all right?" He asked.
"Cor, Cor," Corvisquire crowed.
"Think you'll have another go for one for flight?" Ash asked.
"Corvisquire," Corvisquire crowed nodding his head.
"Awesome," Ash said. "Pikachu jump onto Corvisquire's back."
"Pika," Pikachu squeaked, he ran over and jumped on Corvisquire's back.
"Okay now fly back up," Ash commanded.
Corvisquire flew into the air with Pikachu on his back and the two headed towards the balloon of Team Rocket.
"Uh-oh," Jessie said.
"I know now what's coming," Meowth said.
"Me too and it's not good," James said.
"Use THUNDERBOLT!" Ash commanded.
"Pikachu," Pikachu squeaked.
Pikachu jumped up and used Thunderbolt and hit Team Rocket. The balloon exploded and Team Rocket flew into the air.
"We could have expected that," James said.
"Why would we think this time would go differently," Jessie said.
"But there is one thing that will never go differently for us," Meowth said.
"We're blasting off again! "Team Rocket screamed.
"Wobbufett!" Wobbuffet cried.
A spark appeared in the air as soon as Team Rocket disappeared. Corvisquire and Pikachu landed.
"Thank you for your help Corvisquire," Ash said.
"Cor", Corvisquire crowed.
"You deserve a good rest now," Ash said
Ash grabbed Corvisquire's Pokéball and called him back and walked with the others toward the bushes, but when they got there they saw that the cage was open and empty.
"She's gone," Ash said.
"How is that possible?" Roan asked.
"The fall must have caused the cage to open and then she escaped," Chloe said. said.
"At least she is out of the hands of Team Rocket," Ash said.
"Should we go look for her?" Roan asked.
"No, we leave her alone," Chloe said. "Come on let's get back to camp."
"Good idea, then we can go eat because I'm hungry," Ash said.
Ash can you also think of something other than food?" Chloe asked.
"Hey I haven't eaten anything since breakfast," Ash said.
"I'm also quite hungry," Roan said.
"Let's hurry back to our camp then, I'll make us something to eat," Chloe said.
Ash, Roan and Chloe walked back to their camp.
Once they got back at their campsite they found the Jigglypuff there.
"Look it's Jigglypuff," Roan said.
Jigglypuff are you all right?" Chloe asked.
"Puff, Puff," Jigglypuff cried," she took out her marker. "Jiggly."
"Oh no she's going to sing again," Roan said.
"I think as a thank you," Chloe said.
"No need to thank us," Ash said.
Jigglypuff began to sing and Ash, Roan and Chloe began to get sleepy.
"Here we go again," Roan said.
"We deserve a good rest anyway," Ash said.
"Sleep tight guys," Chloe said.
"Pika," Pikachu squeaked.
"Yamper," Yamper barked.
Ash, Roan and Chloe collapsed to the ground along with Pikachu and Yamper and they all fell asleep. When Jigglypuff finished and saw that everyone had fallen asleep she got angry, she took the cap off her marker and started drawing faces on everyone again. And when she finished she walked away angry.
Well it's the thoughts that count. Ash and his friends have the great sleeping mystery of the Motostoke Outskirts. And if there's one thing we learned here is that Jigglypuff still hasn't learned her lesson.
