Virgil set his books on the counter, occasionally glancing at the books Miguel put up next, "You think you have enough?"

"Is it too many? You said I could have three picture books," Miguel had sectioned them off by subject matter. Nature, true crime, then he had to have some Mangas and his little books for him to regress to.

Daddy got him into Manga, something Peter couldn't even do. His current favorite was Moriarty the Patriot, he liked Samurai x too.

Virgil wasn't much better with his choices. He had some thrillers, adventure and mysteries.

"Nope, looks like you should be entertained," he smoothed his hair, "What book are you reading now?"

"Mami and I are reading a book about final girls or something, I'm reading No Exit."

Virgil sneered at the mention of the first book, "I hated that one. The main girl was just so annoying."

"Yea, mami isn't particularly enjoying it either. The lead is just an idiot," he stated blunty. Watching as the woman scanned, his eyes caught sight of a couple of purchases Virgil was making, "Are those for the twins?"

"Yep, got them a few and I got our buddy Adam a couple. We have to make sure he reads. Pressure him into joining our book club," he teased.

Bookstore was a success, leaving the men with bountiful treasures! Knowledge to fill their minds and time with. With that done it was lunch time.

"Do you have a taste for anything specific, honey?"

"Food," Miguel climbed into the front seat, opening the armrest to grab his pacifier.

Daddy rolled his eyes, "Good choice. I too enjoy partaking in food when I'm hungry."

Virgil watched the street performers do their various acts. He found the old woman using a puppet of herself to feed the squirrels endearing, yet creepy.

Miguel was far more interested in the saxophonist having the time of his life and enjoying the warm pre spring weather.

"Almost time for me to break my grill out," daddy thought aloud, enjoying his brisket, "How is your food, honey?"

"Its very good," he nodded, biting into his sandwich, watching the man as he played, "Is yours good?"

"Quite tasty," he checked his phone. As he was about to make a comment on what his wife and mom would be currently doing on their girl's day he was startled by a friend.

"Well, well, what have we here?" Roy sat next to him, "Just out here enjoying the weather? Did you sneak out of your cave? Who told you you were free to leave your corporate slave position to eat and have a life?"

"Hey Speedy, how's it going bud?" he asked around bites of sandwich.

"Don't be all casual with me," he scoffed, "And the name's Arsenal, Static," he turned his attention to Miguel, "Is this your kid I've been hearing about?"

"Static is indeed my name," he shrugged, "One of them. This is Speedy, Bubs. Old friend."

"Arsenal," Roy held his hand out to Miguel, "Nice to meet you. I'm Roy, Arsenal."

Miguel just looked at his hand and back to him, before nodding a greeting, "Hello."

"Oh, you're a shy one, huh?"

"No, he's eating and doesn't want to touch your hand while doing such," Virgil pointed out, finishing his sandwich.

"That…makes sense," the redhead agreed, "So, you guys just out enjoying the city's oddities?"

"Nah, it's my day to spend with him, so we took a little lunch break after the bookstore. We're going to head to the mall a little later just to walk around and maybe hit a store or two, I'm thinking about taking him to the Lego store," he leaned forward, whispering that part knowing Miguel still heard it the way he turned.

"Aren't you a sweet dad," Roy snickered, "Well, let me not interrupt your day. Oh, I saw Jess with the baby not too long ago. Super cute, looks weirdly like both of you. Like when he's with her I can tell it's hers, but seeing you I can totally tell it's yours."

"Good to know! I'd be a little heartbroken if he didn't look like me, all the work I put in to make him."

"Yeah, the whole 3 minutes," The acher snickered, "He come out looking like the mailman."

"Excuse you! Four minutes, peasant! Bro, no joke, I don't think I've ever actually seen our mailman," Virgil rubbed his chin, thinking back. Eventually he just shrugged.

"Well, I'm gonna leave you to it," Roy slapped his friend's back a few times, "Don't be such a stranger!"

"Whose a stranger?"

"You, you never visit, don't call. Nothing. Just worked with the team like once or twice then dipped out."

"I must be the only one who owns a phone, because I don't see half of you guys doing that either," he turned his shoulder up, "You guys must be busy."

"I mean, well," Roy scratched his neck, "Yeah, you're right. We are pretty busy sometimes, but you've gotta come kick it soon. Bring him too," he pointed to Miguel, "I'm sure he'd love to meet all your old friends."

"We'll plan it out," he agreed, throwing a smile at him, "Tell the guys I said hello."

"Will do, tell Jess I said 'what's up'. I need to leave, that food is enticing me," with that the former teen titan walked off, taking his phone out and getting back on track with whatever his plans for the day were.

"Is he like Dick and Richie?" Miguel sipped his drink.

"Yeah, I used to work with him too," Daddy leaned over to wipe his face, "Try to stay away from him, he's a liability. Ready to move onto our next stop or want to keep enjoying the sights?"

2099 watched the people through his red frames, "Can we sit here just a little longer?"

"Absolutely," he smoothed his hair back, "I bet mommy has Gma held captive, putting guacamole on her face or something."
