Summary: (AU where Harry Potter is sorted into Ravenclaw instead of Gryffindor) Filius Flitwick, along with the other Professors at Hogwarts, eagerly awaited the sorting of the new first-year students. When Harry Potter is surprisingly sorted into Ravenclaw.
Title: Unexpected Ravenclaw
Filius Flitwick watched as McGonagall brought in the first years to be sorted, his eyes immediately finding Harry within the crowd. Filius couldn't believe it—the unruly hair, the glasses—the boy was the spitting image of his father, with the exception of his eyes, which were one hundred percent his mother's.
All the Professors, aside from Severus, were eagerly waiting to see the boy once it was discovered that this was the year he would be joining the magical world. For the past month, all conversations related to the boy in one way or another. Everyone was discussing what House they believed the boy would be sorted into. The majority of the Professors believed, without a doubt, that the boy would be placed in Gryffindor just like his parents.
Filius had to agree; he couldn't see Harry Potter being sorted into any other Houses aside from Gryffindor.
He waited patiently, waiting until Harry's name was called and watched as the nervous boy made his way up to the Sorting Hat and sat down on the stool, his fingers wrapping underneath the seat in an effort to get himself not to fidget.
Filius was surprised the hat didn't shout out the House the moment it was placed on Harry's head, but it wasn't uncommon for the hat to talk to the students before sorting, but as time went on, Filius started to get worried. Inconspicuously, he checked his muggle watch that he wore and noticed that they were one minute away from a hat stall.
Filius couldn't help but wonder what was happening up there. The hat never discussed It's conversations with students; all of that was kept between the hat and the student.
Three seconds before it would be declared a hat stall, the sorting hat suddenly shouted out the house Harry would be in during his school year. "Ravenclaw!"
Filius sat up, his eyes wide with shock. He never thought that Harry would be joining his house out of all the houses of Hogwarts. He watched as the boy made his way off the stool and over to the Ravenclaw table. He sat down and was welcomed with open arms by the other students of Ravenclaw.
This was definitely going to be an exciting year.
