Once Willam and Julia arrived at the station, they saw Victoria and her nanny waiting for them.
They escorted them to the office to get the blood and skin sample, "will it hurt?" asked Victoria
"No, not at all. I'll be very gentle" Julia said as she got her tools out and a petri dish
"I'm going to get the book, so we can get the description" William said as he walked behind the curtain and grabbed the book from a shelf
"There, all done" Julia said
"Wow, that didn't hurt"
"I told you" Julia responded with a smile
William came back with the book, "ok, Victoria, this book will help us create a description of the man. Now, it doesn't have to be accurate and try your best"
Victoria nodded, as he flipped through the wood panels, "we'll start with the neck and chin. Once you see similarities, tell me to stop"
She nodded again, when he got to the 4th panel, "stop, this is what his neck was like, with the tattoo"
"Very good, now the chin"
They go through 3 panels, as she says, "stop, that's the chin"
"Ok, good, now the mouth"
They do the same with the mouth, nose, and try their best with the eyes.
"I'm, sorry detective that's all I remember"
"No, Victoria, you did excellent"
"Now, I'm going to the back of the book and you try to identify the tattoo."
"Ok."
He flips to through the panels, until they get to the tattoos, and find a panel with all anchors, "ok, here, and try your best"
She looks over them and points to one, "this one. The man had this one"
"Good job, Victoria. You did very well" Julia said
"I'm happy to help. Just get Susannah back"
"And we will" William said
"May, I take her home now?" Asked the nanny
"Yes, thank you for your cooperation" William said as they left her office
Julia grabbed the petri dish, and a dropper, and placed a tiny sample on a slide, and examined it through William's microscope, "did we get skin, Julia?"
"And blood. We got both, like we hoped. Take a look" she says and moves out of the way as he looks through the lens.
"Excellent, we got something. But, Julia, it's only a little sample"
"But it's something. And I can further test it at the morgue."
"Yes and I'll get a sketch of the description we have"
"Good idea" as she stared at the anchor
"Julia, something on your mind?"
"Something about the anchor, the shape of it. I feel like I know it from somewhere"
"Oh, do you know where?"
She shook her head, "I can't think of where right now. But, we'll worry about it later"
He nodded as she left to the morgue
William took the book and walked to his desk and worked on the sketch. As, he worked on it, there was a knock on the door, "sir"
He looked up, "George, what have you?"
"One of the constables found it on the ground" he said as he held up Susannah's teddy bear.
William got up from his desk, "where, did they find it?"
"It was about 20 feet past the bush, where we found the ribbon, in an abandoned shed"
"Shed? Anything else, in the shed?"
"Some saw dust on the floor, old flour sacks, and some blood" George said as he rubbed his neck
"Blood? Old or new?"
"I don't know but I got a sample" and hands a handkerchief to him
William takes the handkerchief, grabs a slide, wipes the blood on it and looks at the sample through the microscope.
It took a minute, as he continued looking at the sample, when George spoke up, "is it old or new, sir?"
"It's old, and animal blood"
"Not human?" Asked George
"Not human"
"That's a relief"
"Indeed"
"Do you have the sketch ready, sir?"
"Ah, yes George, here it is." And holds it up, "if you can get all the constables to the bullpen…"
"Of course, sir. We want to get this posted all around town, as soon as possible"
"Yes, George, very good. Thank you"
George nodded and about to leave when he turned back, "sir, William. I want you to know, I am here for you, not just as a constable, but as your friend and Susannah's godfather. I love that little girl, like she's my own. If anything, ever happened to little George, I know I would feel the same way"
"Thank you, George"
He nodded and left the office, as Julia came into the office, "William, I got good news, on the skin and blood sample."
"What is it?"
"The skin, had remnants of sawdust."
"Sawdust?"
"Yes, and the blood sample shows the man has diabetes"
"Is it the one where you need insulin?"
"It is. And from what I can tell, the blood's sugar was very low."
"So, the man will need something high sugar?"
"And insulin."
"Thank you, Julia. I will inform the constables"
She was about to leave, when she sees a teddy bear, "is this, Susannah's?"
"Yes, George brought it in. One of the constables found it."
"Where?"
"In an abandoned shed, 20 feet from where we found the ribbon. In the shed, they also found, sawdust and blood."
"Blood?" She said in a panic
He grabbed her hands, "don't worry, it was old and animal. I checked"
She looks down at her feet and says, "I just want to get her back"
He raises her chin, "and I won't rest until we have her back"
