"Wait, a sleepover at your place?" Danny asked, surprised.
"Yeah, I've been wanting to do one for a while. I'm planning to invite Emily too," Charlie replied.
"Not that I'm against it, but Charlie, you know I'm a guy, right?" Danny asked.
"I got that covered. I know my dad would never let you sleep in my room with us, so I decided to end our sleepover in the living room!" Charlie said, smiling.
Danny looked at his friend, puzzled by where this idea had come from. It wasn't that he disliked the idea; he was just very unsure about going to a sleepover with two girls. Yes, they were his best friends, but it could easily give people the wrong impression.
"Charlie, did you even talk to Vaggie about this?" Danny asked.
"I did. She's going to be a bit busy with her job, so she understands why I'm asking you." Charlie said, trying to play it off.
"You never spoke to her about it, did you?" Danny asked, knowing Charlie well.
"Um..." Charlie said, knowing she was busted.
Danny sighs, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder.
Danny looked at Charlie and said, "Look, Charlie, I'm not against the idea, but you know people might misunderstand us, right? I like you, but I don't want to mess things up between you and Vaggie just because you invited me to stay over. You should call her and explain what you're planning so she doesn't get the wrong idea too."
Charlie sighed, acknowledging that Danny was right. She took out her cell phone and dialed Vaggie's number.
"Hey, Vaggie. How's it going? Did I catch you at a bad time?" Charlie asked after Vaggie answered.
Danny observed as Charlie appeared to avoid the main reason for her call, then gave a look that clearly said, "Stop and get to the point."
"So, listen, I'm planning a sleepover with Emily and Danny. I just wanted to let you know before someone else tells you and you get the wrong idea," She said nervously.
Charlie listened to Vaggie for a few minutes before a smile came to her face.
"You don't mind?" She asked.
Vaggie spoke a bit more before Charlie beamed.
"Thanks, babe! You're the best! Don't worry, he won't be sleeping in my room!" Charlie said, jumping for joy.
Danny just shakes his head, not at all surprised by that. Vaggie understood Charlie, as well as he and Emily, did.
"Thanks again! Sorry for calling you in the middle of your job, but this was important!" Charlie said before making a kissing noise and hanging up.
Danny sighed, shaking his head once more.
"If she's fine with it, then so am I," he said, prompting Charlie to hug him.
Charlie was thrilled. All she needed to do now was invite Emily and get ready for the sleepover! She couldn't wait!
Sometime later,
Charlie was at the store with her father, gathering everything she needed for a sleepover. Lucifer smiled as he watched his daughter pick up some cookies.
"You must be excited to have your sleepover with your friends," Lucifer asked, smirking.
"You bet! I know I invited Emily a lot, but I wanted Danny to join in the fun this time," Charlie smiled.
Lucifer smiled. He knew Charlie had been looking forward to this for months. He was glad she planned to have the sleepover in the living room. It wasn't that he didn't trust the three, but he preferred to ensure they didn't do anything he wouldn't approve of.
"So, are you two going to invite Danny into some of your..." Lucifer began, but Charlie cut him off with a sharp look.
"Dad, I'm not letting you do that again!" Charlie exclaimed, already aware of her father's intentions.
"Do what?" Lucifer asked, genuinely puzzled.
"Make us dress up Danny so you can take a photo and post it online for everyone to see. We're not going to embarrass him!" Charlie retorted, her glare unwavering.
Lucifer looked shocked before quickly assuring her he didn't want to do that.
"Charlie, chill! I would never do that to Daniel. I actually like the boy. Besides, that last boy was asking for it," Lucifer said, making Charlie sigh.
"That was five years ago, Dad," she said, crossing her arms.
"And he was testing his limits. I warned his parents to rein him in, but they ignored me," Lucifer said, rolling his eyes.
Charlie sighed, acknowledging her father's wisdom. They proceeded down the aisle and unexpectedly encountered the Mansons.
"Lucifer?! No! No more cages!" Jeremy yelled, trembling with fear.
"We've already done enough labor for the next five lifetimes!" Pamela exclaimed, her hands shaking.
"How many cages do you make them do?" Charlie asked, surprised by Sam's parents' behavior.
"Only three thousand cages," Lucifer smirked.
"I've never seen my parents so scared of doing labor," Sam said, watching them.
"It's what they get for trying to get a restraining order with false proof," Lucifer said, turning to face Sam.
"And you better not forget yours, young lady," He added, glaring at her.
Sam wanted to glare back, but she knew Lucifer wasn't the type to back down or be pushed around. So, she crossed her arms and looked away.
"What are you two doing here, anyway? I thought you'd be ordering what you need online or something," She asked.
"Charlie is preparing for a sleepover with her friends. Plus, we get to spend some time together. There's nothing like a good old father-daughter bonding," Lucifer said with a smile.
"What about you, Sam? I never pegged your parents as shoppers," Charlie asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Honestly? I have no idea why my parents wanted to shop. Normally, it's only when something big is on sale. But they seemed to be acting differently," Sam said, looking at her parents.
"I guess your dad did something with those cages?" Sam asked, turning back to them.
"Can't say. Dad?" Charlie said, turning to her father.
"They're overreacting. I only made them replace the hay, clean off the bars, and repaint some of the backgrounds," Lucifer said, knowing those were small tasks.
Charlie and Sam looked back at Sam's parents, who seemed to be shaking in fear as they remembered the hard work they were forced to do.
Sam then recalled what she had heard earlier and turned to face the Morningstars once more.
"I'm sorry, but did you say that you're having a sleepover?" She asked.
Charlie sighed, understanding what Sam was thinking and knowing how to stop her.
"Yes, with both Emily and Danny. I've already come up with plans that will allow all three of us to have fun, and I've made sure to change where the sleeping part will be. I know my dad would never allow Danny to sleep in my room with me," She said, glaring at her.
"And you better stay away from my home! I won't deal with someone who believes Danny should stick to his own kind," Charlie added, recalling what Sam had said to her earlier.
Sam seemed ready to retaliate but caught sight of Lucifer's glare. He knew exactly what Sam thought about people and found it pitiful. It was evident to him that Sam would need a significant reality check if she continued down this path.
Sam turned away, still believing that Charlie and Emily were not worthy of Danny. Charlie sighs before turning back to her father.
"Let's go, Dad. And feel free to put up the security after Emily and Danny make it. " Charlie told him, making Lucifer nod.
"Of course, Apple Pie." He said, knowing why she was saying that.
With that, the Morningstars continue their shopping, leaving the Mansons alone.
Later that night,
Charlie rushed around the mansion, making sure everything was in place before Danny and Emily showed up. She ensured the games were in the right places, snacks were sent up, and movies they would all enjoy were ready. Lucifer chuckled before walking up.
"I think you got everything, Charlie," he said, stopping her.
"Right, right! Sorry, this is the first time I invited Danny over, and I want him to feel welcome," she said nervously.
"Charlie, you know Daniel. He'll be fine with whatever you have planned. Relax," Lucifer told her.
Charlie took a breath and tried to calm her nerves. She needed to relax. She knew Danny wouldn't mind the ideas she had. And she was sure he didn't want to take part in any girly things she and Emily liked to do together.
'That reminds me, I need to see if Emily and I can hit the spa again sometime. It's been forever since we went to one,' She thought.
Charlie heard the doorbell and rushed to answer it. She opened the door to see her friends, each carrying bags of belongings.
"Hey, Charlie," Danny greeted with a smile.
"We're here!" Emily added, giggling.
Charlie smiled and pulled her friends into a hug.
"Glad you are! Come in!" she said, stepping aside to let them in.
Danny and Emily walked in as Lucifer approached.
"Charlie, I'll be handling some business, but I'll still be in the mansion. Behave yourself and no funny business," He said with a smirk.
"Unless you want to dare Daniel to kiss you again," He added, making his daughter blush.
"DAD! I only did that to thank him!" Charlie shouted, her face turning red.
Lucifer laughed and patted her back. He then walked away, confident that Charlie was mature enough to know what not to do.
Danny blushed as he remembered Charlie's kiss, while Emily giggled and helped her friend refocus.
"So, where are we sleeping?" She asked.
Charlie snapped out of her thoughts and smiled.
"The living room. I know Dad would never let Danny sleep in my room, so the living room will be our bedroom for the night," Charlie said.
"After what happened when we practiced for that dance, I think that's a good idea," Danny said, still blushing.
With that, the three friends prepared for their sleepover. Charlie was eager to prove to Danny that they could have a great time, regardless of him being a guy. She couldn't wait to kick off the night!
I'm back after an unplanned three-day break from writing. I've decided to have Charlie invite Emily and Danny over for a sleepover and dedicate this chapter to detailing Charlie's preparations for the event.
However, this wasn't the idea I initially had. Before FanFiction lost its ownership due to a missed payment, I was writing about Danny and Emily discussing Danny's community service and how Dash ended up doing more work than Danny. Then, I had the three of them meet at their cafe, where Helsa approached Danny and gave him her number. Later, Helsa explained to her brother that she was using Danny to get back at Charlie, but she admitted she was actually falling in love with him and intended to take him away from Charlie, no matter what. Unfortunately, I lost all of that when FanFiction went offline for two days. I'll have to try and use that idea another time.
In the next chapter, I'll dive into the sleepover. I'm sure you're all eager to find out what happens next!
