Chapter 5: Beware the magic Bunnies

Hey everyone, I'm back with a new chapter! I'm happy to say people are liking the spin-off so far. I have some surprises in this chapter. Please like and enjoy!

At Zee's penthouse, Jake and Izuku were standing in the middle of the suite, looking in awe at everything.

"Wow, Zee, how do you afford all this?" Jake asked.

"Yeah, this is bigger than the penthouse The Watcher gave us," Izuku said, his eyes widening in shock.

"My dad is a famous magician who performs lots of shows," Zee said from a nearby closet.

"Oh, so that's where you got your love of magic from," Jake chuckled.

"Yeah, it seems like a genetic thing, just like quirks back in our world," Izuku said, writing in his notebook.

"Yeah, don't get me wrong, I love being my dad's assistant, but I really want to be my own magician," Zee said, walking in with something on a hanger.

"That makes sense," Jake said, nodding thoughtfully. "It's important to carve out your own path."

"Absolutely," Izuku agreed, glancing up from his notebook. "Having a role model is great, but being able to stand out on your own is even better."

Zee smiled, appreciating their understanding. "Thanks, guys. I know it won't be easy, but I'm determined."

She held up the hanger, revealing a stunning magician's costume. "I've been working on this. It's my own design for my solo performances."

"Wow, that looks amazing," Jake said, clearly impressed.

Izuku nodded in agreement. "You'll definitely make a name for yourself with that. It suits you."

Zee beamed with pride. "Thanks! Speaking of which, I could use some practice with a few new tricks. Want to help?"

Jake and Izuku exchanged excited glances. "We'd love to," they said in unison.

As Zee started to set up, Jake's phone buzzed with a message. He glanced at it and his smile widened. "Looks like the others are on their way over. This should be fun."

"Great," Zee said, setting up a deck of cards. "The more, the merrier. Let's put on a show they won't forget!"

As Zee was setting up, the other girls walked in: Diana, Kara, Karen, Jess, Jaime, and Barbara.

"Hey, everyone," Jake greeted them with a smile.

"Wow, Zee, this place is incredible!" Kara exclaimed, looking around in amazement.

"Yeah, it's like something out of a movie," Barbara added, equally impressed.

"Thanks, guys," Zee said, smiling warmly. "I'm glad you all could make it. I was just about to practice some new tricks. Want to join in?"

"Absolutely," Karen said, her eyes lighting up. "This sounds like fun!"

"Count me in," Diana said, nodding enthusiastically.

"Same here," Jess agreed. "It's been a while since I've seen a good magic show."

"Great! The more, the merrier," Zee said, her excitement growing. "Let's get started."

As everyone gathered around, Jake couldn't help but feel grateful for the friends and teammates he had. It was moments like this that made all their efforts worthwhile.

"But before we start," Zee said, looking at Jake, Izuku, and Jaime. She held out her dad's old magician's tux. "Jake, Izuku, Jaime, I have something for you."

The three boys exchanged curious glances before stepping forward.

"What's this for?" Jake asked, taking the tuxedo.

"Yeah, why the tux?" Izuku added, looking puzzled.

Zee grinned. "I thought you three might want to help me with my magic tricks. And what better way to do that than looking the part?"

Jaime chuckled. "Alright, I'm game. Let's do this."

Jake and Izuku nodded in agreement, each of them slipping into the magician's tux.

"Looking sharp, guys," Barbara teased, giving them a thumbs-up.

"Thanks," Jake said, adjusting his jacket. "Alright, Zee, we're ready. What do you need us to do?"

Zee clapped her hands, excitement evident on her face. "Great! Let's get started. First, we'll need to practice a few simple tricks. Follow my lead."

As Zee began to instruct them, the room filled with laughter and anticipation, everyone eager to see what magic they could create together.

"Alright, first up, we'll start with a classic trick: pulling a rabbit out of a hat," Zee explained, holding up a black top hat. "Jake, you'll be the magician for this one."

Jake took the hat, a bit nervous but excited. "Okay, what do I do?"

"Just follow my instructions," Zee said with a reassuring smile. "Wave the wand over the hat and say the magic words: 'Abracadabra!'"

Jake waved the wand and said, "Abracadabra!" As he did, Zee secretly activated a hidden mechanism inside the hat, and a plush rabbit popped out.

"Whoa!" Jake exclaimed, his eyes wide with surprise.

The girls clapped and cheered. "Nice job, Jake!" Diana said, grinning.

"Thanks, but I think Zee did most of the work," Jake replied, handing the hat back to her.

"Now it's Izuku's turn," Zee announced. "We're going to try a levitation trick. Izuku, can you lay down on this table?"

Izuku nodded and lay down on the table. Zee placed a cloth over him and began to chant softly. "Everyone, focus your energy on Izuku."

To everyone's amazement, Izuku started to rise slowly off the table, floating in mid-air.

"Wow, this is incredible!" Izuku exclaimed, feeling both excited and a little scared.

Kara and Karen watched in awe. "How are you doing this, Zee?" Kara asked.

"It's all about misdirection and a little bit of actual magic," Zee said with a wink, gently lowering Izuku back onto the table.

"That was awesome!" Jaime said, clapping. "My turn next?"

"Absolutely," Zee replied. "For you, we'll do a card trick. Pick a card, any card."

Jaime drew a card from the deck, memorized it, and put it back. Zee shuffled the deck, then dramatically revealed his card.

"Is this your card?" she asked, holding up the Ace of Spades.

Jaime's jaw dropped. "How did you do that?"

"A magician never reveals her secrets," Zee said with a smile.

The group continued practicing tricks and enjoying their time together, the bond between them growing stronger with each shared laugh and moment of wonder.

Until Zee's phone vibrated, she looked down and saw a text from her dad. Her eyes widened with shock and happiness as she screamed.

"Oh my God! Oh my God! Oh my God! Oh my God! Oh my God!" Zee exclaimed, looking at her friends.

"What's going on?" Jake asked.

"Girls and guys, I finally got my first gig as a magician, and I need an assistant," Zee said, looking at Jake, Jaime, and Izuku.

"That's amazing, Zee! Congrats!" Izuku said, smiling brightly.

"Yeah, congratulations! So, who's going to be your assistant?" Jaime asked, intrigued.

Zee looked at the three boys, thinking for a moment. "How about all three of you? We can rotate during the show so each of you gets a chance to help."

"That sounds like a lot of fun," Jake said, nodding enthusiastically.

"I'm in!" Jaime added, giving a thumbs-up.

"Count me in, too," Izuku said, beaming with excitement.

"Great! This is going to be the best show ever," Zee said, her excitement infectious.

Diana, Kara, Karen, Jess, and Barbara all gathered around, eager to help and support their friend in her first professional performance.

"We'll help with anything you need, Zee," Diana said confidently.

"Yeah, we'll make sure your first gig is unforgettable," Kara added, smiling warmly.

"Thanks, everyone. I couldn't do this without you," Zee said, feeling grateful for her amazing friends. The room buzzed with excitement and anticipation as they began to plan for the big show.

The next day, early in the morning, Jake, Izuku, and Jaime were at Kara's house. Kara was lying in bed trying to sleep when she heard a knock at the door.

"Stupid super-hearing," Kara groaned.

"Kara, your friends are here," her uncle called out.

"What? Who could be coming this early?" Kara asked, walking to the door. It swung open to reveal Zee.

"Hello, Kara dear, my pride and joy," Zee smiled.

"Pride and what?" Kara asked, as Jake, Izuku, and Jaime walked in. "Whoa, what's with the monkey suits?"

"Don't you remember? Jake, Izuku, and Jaime are helping me today," Zee said.

"Umm, okay then," Kara said, still rubbing her eyes from sleep.

"This is Blackberry Hazel von Hausle III, and this is Dandelion Pipkin de Heisenplay," Zee introduced, holding two rabbits.

"Okay, why are they in my room?" Kara asked.

"Uh, hello, we texted about it last night," Zee said, showing her phone.

"Whatev," Kara said.

"Please, Kara! You simply cannot flake on me now! This is my very first paid performance as a solo magician, and I need you to care for my two little lovelies while I'm away," Zee pleaded.

"Can't you just take them with you? Or have Jake, Izuku, or Jaime watch them? Aren't they, you know, part of your act or something?" Kara asked.

"No, they can't. These are magical rabbits, my dear. They might be a bit much for a children's birthday party. Now, where can I put them?" Zee asked.

"I don't know, over there," Kara pointed to the dirty floor beneath them.

"On this floor? Ugh, hold these," Zee said, handing the rabbits to Kara as she started cleaning. "Now, there are only a few simple rules to bear in mind. First, they must be given only organic vegetables, cut into segments no larger than an inch cubed. And I'm afraid I'll have to ask you to limit the cruciferous vegetables, as little Blackberry Hazel von Hausle III has had some issues with stomach discomfort recently. Then, of course, they'll need access to fresh water at all times, no cooler than 57 degrees Fahrenheit, which is around 13.5 degrees Celsius. Ooh, and very important, when it's time for their brushing—"

"Wait, how long are you guys gonna be gone?" Kara interrupted.

"Can't be more than an hour," Jake said.

"Yeah, you can handle it until then," Jaime said with a smile.

"Thanks for doing this for us; you're the best," Izuku said.

"Now, as to the brushings. Three strokes gently to the left and five to the right," Zee continued.

"Yeah, yeah, I got it," Kara said as they were about to walk out.

"Oh, there is one more rule," Zee said.

"Dude!" Kara groaned.

"This is the most important rule of all. You're not, under any circumstances, to put these two together. Understand?" Zee asked.

"Whatev," Kara brushed it off.

"Thank you, Kara! Mummy's gonna miss you lovelies. See you soon! Bye-ee!" Zee said as she, Jake, Izuku, and Jaime left.

Right after they left, they didn't realize Kara basically broke the rule in not even a minute.

At the park, Jake, Izuku, Jaime, and Zee were setting up when Izuku saw a banner.

"Happy Birthday, Riku," Izuku said, his eyes widening in shock as he saw a little boy with pale white skin, green hair, and green freckles wearing a birthday crown.

"Riku," Izuku said under his breath, almost tearing up until Jake noticed.

"What's wrong?" Jake asked, walking over to him.

"Look, it's Riku, Jake. He's here," Izuku said, tearing up a little bit.

"Remember, he's not the same one," Jake said, placing a comforting hand on Izuku's shoulder.

Izuku took a deep breath and nodded. "Yeah, I know. It's just... seeing him like that brings back so many memories."

Jaime, noticing the conversation, walked over. "Hey, are you guys okay?"

"Yeah, we're fine," Jake replied. "Just a bit of a shock, that's all."

Zee, finishing up with the setup, called out to them. "Come on, guys, we have a show to put on!"

"Let's focus on making this birthday special for him," Jake said, giving Izuku an encouraging smile.

"Yeah, let's do it," Izuku agreed, wiping away a tear and heading back to help with the preparations.

"Alright, will the birthday boy please step up for my first trick?" Zee called out as Riku ran over to her stand. "Happy Birthday, Riku. Say, what's this?"

Zee reached behind his ear, and instead of a quarter, a little bunny appeared.

"Wow, a bunny?" Riku smiled as the other kids let out a gasp.

"Lots of bunnies!" one boy pointed, as the whole park was suddenly swarmed with little bunnies.

Popping their heads up, Jake, Izuku, Jaime, and Zee saw Supergirl flying over to them.

"I'm guessing this is what happens if you let them out of their cage?" Jake guessed.

"Who do you think did that?" Izuku asked.

"Did she even follow the rules?" Jaime said.

"I don't think so," Jake replied as Supergirl landed in front of them.

"So... how's the show?" Supergirl asked, trying to sound casual.

"I told you to keep them apart!" Zee snapped.

"I did. I totally did, for, like, at least ten minutes," Supergirl said, but Jake, Izuku, Jaime, and Zee just glared at her. "Five... three minutes... one minute."

"Oh, come on!" Jake, Izuku, Jaime, and Zee said in unison.

"Well, what was I supposed to do? They love each other!" Supergirl said.

"Exactly! That's the problem!" Zee said, exasperated.

"Wow, what a cool Superman costume," one boy said.

"This is not a Superman costume," Supergirl glared.

"Technically, I think she qualifies as Supergirl," another boy said.

"Uh, yes children, this is my co-assistant, Supergirl," Jake said, pulling her in. Instantly, Zee had an idea.

"Yes, and now my assistants will help me with my next trick: making these rabbits disappear!" Zee tossed one rabbit up, and when it landed in her hat, it disappeared.

Catching on, Jake, Izuku, Jaime, and Supergirl gathered up all the rabbits and threw them to Zee, who caught them all in her hat, emptying the park of all the rabbits.

"Tada!" Zee said as the group posed together, causing the kids to cheer.

"Superman's sister is the best!" one boy cheered.

"Listen, kid!" Supergirl glared, pounding her fists together when they heard a loud rumbling.

"I don't like the sound of that," Jake gulped as they turned around and saw a massive tsunami of bunnies coming towards them with Zee's rabbits on the top.

"Oh no! They're still together!" Zee gasped.

"And they still love each other!" Supergirl gasped as the bunnies were about to come down on them.

"Hold me!" Zee panicked, clinging to Jake for dear life as the bunnies came down, flooding through the city as Izuku grabbed Jaime and used Blackwhip to get on top of the building.

Resurfacing, Jake gasped for air as Zee had wrapped her arms and legs around him.

"Zee, are you okay?" Jake asked.

"Not gonna lie, I kinda like this," Zee flirted when suddenly Supergirl resurfaced.

"I'm drowning in cuteness!" Supergirl said.

"I gave you one rule!" Zee snapped.

"No, you didn't! You gave me like 500 rules!" Supergirl said.

"And you broke the only one that mattered!" Zee snapped back.

"Kara, why couldn't you leave them in their cages?" Jake asked.

"Yeah, like, I'm with Jake on this one," Izuku said.

"Come on, girl," Jaime added.

"Why is Zee holding onto you like she wants to make out with you?" Kara asked, causing Jake and Zee to look at each other and blush.

"Don't change the subject!" Zee said.

"How was I supposed to know that Harry Houdini was a girl?!" Supergirl asked.

"Harry what? How dare you! Those rabbits are purebred magical creatures with carefully selected names. They are not to be mentioned in the same breath as Merlin and Harry Houdini!" Zee snapped, pushing Jake down into the bunnies so she could glare at Supergirl.

"My names are way better!" Supergirl snapped as Jake pushed up to breathe.

"Forget about the names! We have to stop them!" Jake said.

"He's right. The only way to stop magical rabbits is with magic itself," Zee said.

"Alright Zee, ready?" Jake asked.

"Let's do this," Zee said.

"Izuku, Jaime, you guys with me?" Jake asked.

"Always, dude," Jaime said.

"Let's go, plus ultra," Izuku said as he saw Zee and Jake dive under the bunnies.

"Kwasi, spots on," Jake said as his wristband glowed, transforming him into Beetle.

Emerging from the bunnies were Beetle and Zatanna in their supersuits.

"Alright, I guess we follow their leads. Ravage, claws out!" Izuku said as his ring glowed, transforming him into Shadowclaw.

Jaime's body started to glow as the Scarab armor surrounded him, transforming him into Blue Beetle.

Beetle, Zatanna, Shadowclaw, and Blue Beetle stood ready in their supersuits, surveying the chaotic scene of magical bunnies flooding the park and streets.

"Alright, we need a plan," Beetle said, glancing at the others. "Zee, can you use a containment spell to gather all the bunnies in one spot?"

"I can try, but I'll need a bit of time to prepare the spell," Zatanna said, already focusing her magic.

"Shadowclaw, Blue Beetle, can you two keep the bunnies from spreading further while Zee works on the spell?" Beetle asked.

"On it!" Shadowclaw said, using his agility to dart around the bunnies, creating barriers with his quirk.

"Leave it to us," Blue Beetle said, using his scarab's energy to create force fields and herd the bunnies back.

As Shadowclaw and Blue Beetle worked to contain the bunnies, Zatanna closed her eyes and began chanting the spell, her hands glowing with magical energy.

"Zatanna, hurry! They're multiplying faster than we can contain them!" Shadowclaw shouted, dodging a wave of bunnies.

"I'm almost there!" Zatanna replied, the glow intensifying.

Beetle used his yo-yo to create a perimeter, keeping any stray bunnies from escaping. "Just a little longer, Zee!"

With a final surge of power, Zatanna completed the spell, and a shimmering dome of light enveloped the park, pulling all the bunnies into a central location. The bunnies started to slow down and then stopped multiplying.

"It's working!" Blue Beetle said, reinforcing the dome with his scarab's energy.

As the last of the bunnies were gathered, the dome solidified, containing them safely. The team took a moment to catch their breath.

"Wow, that was intense," Beetle said, looking around at the now-contained bunnies.

"You did great, Zee," Shadowclaw said, giving her a thumbs up.

"Thanks, everyone. I couldn't have done it without you," Zatanna said, smiling gratefully.

Supergirl landed next to them, looking sheepish. "Sorry about all this. I didn't mean to cause so much trouble."

"It's alright, Kara. Just remember next time to follow the rules," Beetle said, giving her a reassuring pat on the shoulder.

"Yeah, we all make mistakes," Blue Beetle added.

"Now, let's get these bunnies back to where they belong," Zatanna said, preparing to transport them back to their cages.

Until the bunnies gathered together to form a giant bunny-shaped monster.

"I think I cast the wrong spell. Trapping them should be stronger than that," Zatanna said.

"Ya think?" Beetle responded.

"I couldn't handle them when they were a million tiny bunnies, but one giant monster? No problem," Supergirl grinned, flying towards the monster to punch it. However, the bunnies moved out of the way, causing her to fly through it. "Aw, come on! Let me punch you!" Supergirl kept up her attacks but kept missing as the bunnies moved out of the way.

Suddenly, the monster grabbed her in its giant hand.

"Supergirl!" Blue Beetle gasped before jumping off the building and transforming his arm into a sword. He slashed the hand, causing the monster to drop her.

"Whoa!" Supergirl screamed as Blue Beetle caught her bridal style before landing safely on the ground.

"Hey, you okay?" Blue Beetle asked.

"What? Uh, yeah, that was a cakewalk. But, uh, could you put me down now?" Supergirl asked nervously as Blue Beetle set her down.

"Physical attacks won't work on it," Beetle said.

"That area has to be where my rabbits are," Zatanna said, pointing to the chest.

"Alright, Supergirl, I'm gonna give you one chance. Be ready to fly," Beetle said.

"What's the signal?" Supergirl asked.

As the monster tried to crush Shadowclaw and Blue Beetle, Shadowclaw activated full cowling, jumping around and hitting it with his staff.

"Yeah, we got this," Blue Beetle said, activating his sonic cannons from the scarab and flying around, shooting sound waves.

"That's it, when you hear a big sound wave," Beetle said before taking out his yo-yo and pulling out a silver bracelet.

As Beetle put on the silver bracelet, Fang appeared.

"Kwasi, Fang, Unify!" Beetle said as his kwamis merged. A silver and red mask appeared on his face, his outfit changed to silver and red, and a wolf tail with red polka dots appeared. One eye was gold, and one eye was red. He wielded his yo-yo in one hand and a sword in the other, becoming Beetle Claw.

"Moon Call!" Beetle Claw's bracelet glowed as he took a deep breath and released a sonic howl, blowing away the bunnies and revealing Zee's two rabbits in the shape of a heart.

Using this opening, Supergirl flew in and grabbed them.

"Quick! You have to separate them!" Zatanna yelled.

"But...but they love each other," Supergirl protested.

"Seriously?!" Zatanna yelled.

"Just do it!" Beetle Claw snapped.

Seeing she had no choice, Supergirl used all her strength to pry the two rabbits apart, making the monster disappear and leaving only the two rabbits.

As she landed, Zatanna looked to the crowd and pulled her and Beetle Claw in. "Uh, ta-da!" Instantly, everyone applauded them.

"Miraculous Beetle!" Throwing his yo-yo into the air, he undid all the damage caused by the bunnies.

"Pound it," the heroes said, fist-bumping each other.

As the applause died down, Zatanna turned to Jake, Izuku, and Jamie. "Thanks for the help, guys. I couldn't have done it without you."

"Anytime," Jake replied, smiling as he transformed back into his civilian form.

"That was intense," Izuku said, also reverting to his normal self. "I've never seen anything like those rabbits."

Jamie laughed, "I'm just glad we managed to handle it without causing too much chaos. But next time, maybe we can avoid creating a giant bunny monster."

Supergirl nodded, "Yeah, sorry about that. I'll make sure to follow the rules next time."

Zatanna sighed, "It's okay, Kara. Just… let's be more careful in the future."

Jake noticed Riku and the other kids were still watching them in awe. "Hey, Riku, did you enjoy the show?"

Riku nodded enthusiastically, "That was amazing! You're all so cool!"

Jake smiled, "Thanks, Riku. We're glad you had fun."

Zatanna knelt down to Riku's level. "Happy birthday, Riku. And don't worry, we'll make sure the bunnies behave from now on."

Riku grinned, "Thanks, Zee!"

As the kids ran off to play, the group gathered their things. "Well, I think that was a pretty successful gig," Zatanna said, looking satisfied.

Jake nodded, "Definitely. But I think we could all use a break now."

"Agreed," Izuku said, stretching. "Let's head back and relax for a bit."

Jamie chimed in, "Sounds like a plan. And maybe next time, we can have a more straightforward mission."

The group laughed as they made their way back, feeling accomplished and ready for whatever challenges lay ahead.

At Sweet Justice, the rabbits were in cages as Jake and Izuku showed pictures of Riku from their world to Jamie, Zee, Diana, Jessica, Karen, and Barbara.

"So that's your little brother from your world, but in ours?" Barbara asked Izuku, examining the photos with interest.

"Yeah, that's him," Izuku replied warmly. "He's a bit different here, but seeing him today brought back a lot of memories."

"He seems like a great kid," Diana commented, smiling at the pictures.

"He really is," Jake added. "It was a surprise seeing him at Zee's show, though."

"It must have been quite emotional," Karen remarked sympathetically.

Izuku nodded, "It was. Riku's presence here reminded us of our world and the connections we still have."

Jessica leaned closer to look at the photos, "He looks so happy."

Jake grinned, "Yeah, Riku's got that effect on people."

"Sounds like you guys had quite the adventure today," Diana said, glancing at Zee.

Zee chuckled, "You could say that. Magical bunnies and all."

Barbara raised an eyebrow, "Magical bunnies?"

"It's a long story," Jake said with a grin, knowing it was just another day in their unusual lives.

As they continued to discuss the day's events and share stories, the atmosphere in Sweet Justice was filled with camaraderie and warmth, each member grateful for their unique bond and the adventures they shared.
