Chapter 8:

Making an Ally

John had swung his way through the city making his way to a small construction site and coming to a stop on one of the steel beams before he took a seat with Spider-Woman coming to land on another beam besides his. Once they were both settled he took off his mask and looked at her. He was of course wondering how he was going to explain this situation to her without offending her after all John didn't know this woman it could be the actual Spider-Man's wife for all he knew.

" I didn't steal the suit if that's what your thinking," John said finding it difficult to make his way through the words. " This suit is a replica I built I figured that if I went around pretending to be Spider-Man I could return the original suit that I found in a trash can to him but so for he hasn't came looking and I was starting to lose hope...but now that your here I can give you the original an stop pretending to be a hero if you would like to meet me tomorrow after all I am not cut out for the hero game..."

" I can't take it because I don't know where he is and trust me I have been looking," Spider-Woman said taking off her mask to show her face which was beautiful looking with long black eyelashes and her full lips covered in a light shade of pink lipstick. Her brown eyes seemed to be tinged in sadness.

" What do you mean you can't take it to him I thought you know him?" John asked being confused.

" I do he is my...well I guess from your perspective it would be brother but I haven't been in touch with him for a few months. After all we have both been busy trying to save the world when I heard he disappeared I rushed back to New York you were the first lead I found since I started my search so I was hoping you would be able to lead me to him but," Spider-Woman said with a worried sigh that also hinted at how stressed she was.

" Well I guess since your looking for him I can stop pretending either way so..." John started to so before the woman held a finger.

" Pretending to be Spider-Man was a stupid idea and very dangerous...but I don't think you were pretending to be a hero no jumps in to save a crowd for a plan, a game of make believe, or for fame so I don't think you should stop at least keep going until we find him," Spder-Woman said with a stern face.

" But...but...you saw what Scorpion did to me I can't fight that I don't have power or anything that would be special! I am going out there to try an hold the city together like he did and I am barely holding my own heck I almost died!" John said yelling and trying to make a point.

" You were capable of holding your own against Shocker and you built a suit to let you fight by having an a.i. predict your opponents movements and yet you say you have nothing...kid stop being an idiot and use that big brain of yours," Spider-Woman said hoping over to the steel beam John was sitting on and flicked his forehead gently. " That's your superpower so use it and don't give up until we have both reached our goals after all in my family we have a saying: With Great Power, There Must Also Come Great Responsibility. So use your great power an do the hero thing your own way an who knows once we have found " him " maybe you will like the new you that you became along the way!"

" You mean be true to myself even in the mask?" John asked her looking surprised that she thought so much of him.

" The key to being a good Spider-Man is not to do it like him its to do it like you which I know can be scary because your afraid you'll mess up but once you take that leap of faith the world will become you oyster you just have to take the leap," Spider-Woman said before she put her mask on. " Sleep on it."

Once she said that last part she left swinging off back into the city leaving John stunned. He sat on top of the steel beam for a while before he began laughing to himself before he put his own mask back on and back flipped off the steel beam before he began his own swing home. Do it like me huh...well I guess that will certainly be worth a try, John thought to himself.

Authors Note: This one is short which I am kind of sorry for but truth be told I had writers block again kind of. I only say kind of because I know where I want the story to go the question is how to get it there an well for me its hard to decide on just one path. So anyway here is the new chapter hope you enjoy and I will be writing Chapter 9 tomorrow.
