Chapter Thirty-nine: Fusion
Orochimaru
"Are you ready, Oreo?" Naruto ask, getting on the bed.
"I suppose. Are you sure this room will be big enough? We could go to Sasuke's…"
"You know that Sakura wants you to stay here. Besides, this room is plenty big. So you won't be overcrowded."
"How many people ate even coming?"
"Umm let's see. Sakura, Sasuke, Sarada, Ino, Sai, Inojin, Shikamaru, Temari, Shikadai, Lee, Tenten, Metal, Choji, Karui, Chocho, Kiba, Akamaru, Temari, Ito, Kegawa, Matsuri, Shinki, Yataka, Araya, Brushier Brow- sensei, Kakashi-sensei, Iruka-sensei, Granny Tsunade, Ebisu, Konohamaru, Moegi, Udon, Hinata, Hanabi, Old Man Hiashi, Shino, Karin, Suigetsu, Jugo, Anko, Captain Yamato, Octopops, and Kabuto."
"So half the village and then some."
"Yup!"
I can't believe how many people are scheduled to come here for this baby shower. Is everyone that excited about me having a child? No… it's Naruto they're wanting to see. It's his baby to them, not mine.
Naruto takes my hand, squeezing it gently. "I hate how you have to be struck in bed, but at least you're stable."
"And this is my last month."
"Yes, and I'm so excited!" He cheers, cradling my abdomen and kissing it.
"It's so nice to see you so happy, Naruto," Hinata says as she and Shino walk through the open door, carrying bags and boxes.
"Where should I set these, Naruto?" Shino asks.
Naruto smiles at Hinata. "Over on the table is fine."
I watch Hinata and Naruto. Their bond… I took that away. She's with Shino now, but…
Does she truly want that?
More people pile in, putting their gifts on, under, or around the table they had set up for this event.
I never thought I'd be in this position. Being homosexual, I knew my chances of having my genes passed down were slim to none. At least, in the traditional sense. But now…
Now I'm carrying my vet own child.
"Whoa! Your belly is like sooo big!" A cheerful feminine voice gasp.
I jerk out of my thoughts and focus to find Yataka holding her one month old son, Araya on her hip and her free hand touching my very pregnant abdomen.
"Nine months of baby does that to you "
"Yup! Araya was sooo big they had to cut him out!"
"A cesarean section then."
"A what?" Naruto aka.
"Cesarean section, or Cm section for short. It's a procedure in which the child is removed after an incision is made and then they're removed. Sometimes babies are too large to travel through the birth canal. I will be having this procedure of course since I lack a vagina, and therefore; can't give natural birth."
"I'm wondering if the egg will hatch before or the egg will be removed then the baby " hatches"." Matsuri says.
"The baby is in an egg?!" Yataka exclaims.
"Yeah. He's been in there for the whole time," Naruto laughs.
"no way! So cool!"
More people flood in, placing their gifts on or under the table.
Small chats become a buzzing incomprehensible nonsense.
"Alright, everyone!" Temari says clapping her hands. " listen up! It's time to start."
Everyone goes quiet.
"Alright, we have food and games behind the curtain. Don't overcrowd the expecting couple, but don't ignore them either. We will give out presents in one hour."
I close my eyes, resting my head on Naruto's chest. He holds me close, rubbing my belly.
"Well just look at you," Ino says, Inojin and Sai beside of her. "That's a big boy."
"He's not as big as you were, dear."
"Shut it! Or I'll make your nose big!"
"Always so mean," Naruto laughs.
"Mama, can I play with Shika?"
"Sure. Just make sure to follow the rules."
"Kay!" The boy cheers, running off. He slips under the red curtain into the next room.
"So how are you two doing?" Ino asks
"Great!"
"Like I'm about to pop any second."
"Well, you'll be laying that egg soon by the looks of you," Sai grins.
"Perhaps you should lay one too, Sai?" Naruto smirks.
"Oh, like he could!"
Sai rolls his eyes. "Anyway, I hope the gift I got will be to your liking."
"I'm sure it will, Sai," Naruto says, smiling.
"Well, see you in a bit!" Imo calls as they go into the other room.
"You hungry, Oreo?"
"Yeah. Can you make me an egg sandwich?"
"Sure! Chips?"
I nod.
Naruto kisses me then goes into the next room.
"Jiraiya would say you look stunning," Tsunade says, approaching me with a plate of finger food. "I certainly don't feel it." I snatch a few pieces of cheese off her plate.
She snacks my hand with a grin. "Get your own!"
"But yours is so much better!"
She laughs. "It's good to see you happy."
"Are you?"
"Yeah. I have my days, jut…"
"Don't we all?"
"hey, Grammy Tsunade!" Naruto calls, coming over with a large tray of food and drinks. He wheels it over and gets settle on the bed.
"Did you bring the whole buffet?" Tsunade scoffs
"You know how Kit is, Tsuna."
"Well no one told me Teuchi and Ayame would be here cooking ramen!" He exclaims, slurping the noodles.
I laugh. "Silly Kit." I start to eat my food as well.
"This is a nice baby shower."
"It certainly is. I can't believe this is my life now."
"It's amazing though, huh?"
"It sure is."
XXXX
For the next hour, people visit me. Most gushing over the unborn child within me. Naruto and I are filled with joy. It's amazing to see so many people gathered around who aren't trying to harm me.
I look over at the presents. There are so many. All for my unborn son. I smile, tears stinging my eyes.
Naruto takes my hand, squeezing it with a smile.
"Gather around, everyone! It's time to start passing out presents!" Temari exclaims, clapping her hands.
Everyone gathers in the room.
"Sakura, why don't you start?" Temari says.
"Well, alright " Sakura says, walking over to the table with Sasuke and Sarada. They grab a box and a bag, habdung them to us.
I open the bag, pulling out a stuffed raven.
"That's me!" Sarada exclaims.
"It certainly is, little booper,' I smile, licking her.
I pull out a hawk and swan plushy as well.
"I see you remembered."
"Well, it's hard to forget when you demand a plush of what we are," my former student smirks. "You know how persistent an Oreo Snake can be, Sasuke," Naruto giggles.
I open the box.
"Oh wow! Look at all that cool stuff! Soaps, shampoos, bubbles, lotions, and toys! Lots and lots of bath toys!"
"Kabuto told me snakes are sensitive, so I made special bathing supplies for him."
"Sarada and I picked out the toys."
"These are wonderful. Thank you."
Sakura places the gifts in a separate pile in s corner of the room.
Ino, Sai, and Inojin give their gifts out next. A Venus fly trap and two squid plushies-a mom with a baby squid attached.
They also give colouring books, writing and drawing supplies, and special soothing plants.
"Sorry it's not much," Ino laughs nervously.
"It's perfect."
"The baby can learn to write in the notebooks when he's older."
"Im sure hell love to."
"What can a baby do with flowers?"
"They're specially grown for soothing. They give off calming fragences."
"Cool!"
After they set their gifts aside, Kabuto and Shizune give theirs. They've been spending some "quality time" together trying to figure out how to get nutrients to the baby. Seems they have more in common than they first thought.
A white snake and a purple lizard are given first followed by a specially made diaper and diaper supplies.
"Umm?" Naruto says, poking the metal.
"The child will obviously lack legs so Shizune and I came up with this device. "
"Interesting," I say, studying it.
It's a blue and gold band with a light indicator on the outside. Below is a tiny button. I push it. It opens, revealing the inside cushioned with a thick fishnet like material on the bottom and thick cloth on the sides.
"The net catches the waste. When it's full, the light will turn red."
"The nets have a substance that will stick to the metal."
"Oh wow!"
"The band is adjustable as well."
"That was very thoughtful," I say. "Thank you."
"Of course."
They set their gifts aside. Anko and Tenzo give theirs out next.
Honestly, I wasn't too surprised when Anko told me she and Tenzo were dating. It makes a lot of sense. They have a lot I'm common. Sadly, it's centered around the fact I hurt them.
A cyan snake and a tree plush were given as well as some baby clothes and other toys.
"I had to get these clothes specially made. At least the onezes." Anko says.
Naruto picks up a onezz that is orange and white. It's made so a tail can fit in. A bushy fox tail is attached as well as little ears.
"So cute!"
"That is precious."
Other clothes consist of different little onezes, shirts, clothes for his tail to slip in-short and long, and some hats.
"We got different sizes as well."
"This is great!"
They smile and set their gifts aside.
Temari, Shikamaru, and Shikadai are next. Two deer and a Vulture plushy. They also give us toys, more clothes, and books.
"Thank you," I say.
"You guys are the best."
"Hope he is as smart as me!"
"Well, with Oreo as his mother, I have no doubt."
"Oh most definitely."
Next, Choji, Kauri, and Chocho give their gifts of two butterflies and a panther plushy as well as some bottles, pacifiers, bibs, formula, and sippy cups.
"Sakura actually created the formula, but I insisted on giving it to you guys."
"thanks, Choji! That was sweet!"
"I picked out the sippies!"
"You did? Well, they are very nice. Thank you, Princess Butterfly."
Chocho turns to her mom, hands on her hips. "Did you hear that, Mommy? I'm a princess!"
Karui smiles. "Yes, very much."
Kiba, Tamaki, and Kegawa give their gifts out next. Two dogs and two cat plushies as well as other toys, blankets, and clothes.
Kegawa babbles, hugging his kitten toy before handing it to me.
"Aww, sweetheart, you don't need to do that. It's yours."
He babbles, pointing to himself, the toy, then my stomach.
"No, I don't have a kitty inside if me."
Naruto laughs. "What?"
"He's a silly baby," Tamaki giggles. "One minute he says he's s cat then a dog."
I flick my tongue. "No wonder. He has a strong smell of both."
"But more dog, right?" Kiba smirks.
I return one. "No, actually, he's more of a cat."
"Dammit!" Kiba pouts.
We all laugh, Kegawa giggling and clapping his hands.
Hinata and Shino are next. Like Kabuto and Shizune, they've been spending "quality time together" as well. It's good for Hinata to have someone to confide in about what has transpired. She doesn't hate me, but being in love with someone for so long and that person not returning those b feelings has to be difficult.
(I couldn't do it.)
They give a lioness and beetle plushy and more bath supplies, toys, and diaper supplies.
"Thanks, Hinata, Shino."
"If he doesn't like the toys, we can-"
"Nonsense, Hinata. He'll love them!"
"One of the toys can strengthen his tail muscles," Shino says.
"Ah, good thinking."
Matsuri and Shinki give their gifts next. A bat and dragonfly. (Though, not the one Shinki got from Shikadai. He's currently eating that one.) More toys and blankets are given.
Shinki flies his toy, making a zoom sound.
"Is that so? Is that what you say?"
"Zoom!"
"Silly baby. Are you excited for a new friend?"
Shinki claps.
"Shinki, Kegawa, Araya, and your baby are so close in age! It's so awesome!" Matsuri cheers.
Yakata looks at Araya then at Shinki. "Oh wow! Just realized that!"
Tamaki rolls her eyes. "Figures." She smiles.
Yakata pouts. "My turn! Come on, Araya," she says, trying to get her giant gift.
"Let me do it," Konohamaru says.
"Thanks!"
He hands me the large present. Naruto and I both open it up, gasping.
"A little bathtub!"
"Kankuro made it! He feels bad he couldn't come though. "
"It's fine."
It's a baby bathtub lined with a tube of mess for the baby to insert his tail. He can even put snacks, juice, and little toys!
"Man, this looks so awesome!"
"Doesn't it?"
"Thanks so much!"
"Of course! Oh! We have these too!" Yakata says, rushing over to get a bag. She hands it to me.
"Two little bats," I smile, taking them out.
"Yup!"
"We're next!" Lee exclaims. "Come, Metal, Tenten!"
Tenten sighs, Metal by her side. "We're coming, Lee."
We're given two cheetahs and a kingfisher plush. As well as toy weapons, barbells, toys, and books.
"I tried to get something he could use now. Sorry it wasn't all that much," Tenten sighs.
"Tenten, stop being so down. Everything is useful!"
"Bushy brow is right. All this stuff is great."
"Well, if you're sure…"
Konohamaru, Moegi, and Udon go next. Another large present and a small bag.
Naruto opens the bag. "Three little monkeys! Aww!"
Araya points to them, babbling.
"Do you want a monkey?" Yakata asks, tickling him.
He claps, giggling.
We open the box. It's a basket, basinet, and swing set.
"We'll help you put it together."
"Thank you. That's very thoughtful."
"It's gonna look super cool!"
"Big too!"
Killer B is next, handing us the octopus plushy and some tickets to his "show".
" You want the baby to listen to your lame rhymes?" Naruto grins.
,"yeah, but got domethin' better. Just come to Kumo cause the prize was to big to go, yo!"
I smile. "I can't wait to see it."
Kurenai and Mirai are next. Both giving a rise plushy and some clothes.
"I hope they'll be to his liking."
"I'm sure they will be."
"I can't wait to meet my little friend!" The near four year old cheers.
Hashi and Hanabi hand their gifts over. Two leopards, books, toys, and more bath supplies.
"Thank you so much!"
"Of course!"
Suigetsu and Karin give out a tiger, stingray, some more toys and bottles.
"Hope this are good, Lord Orochimaru. Suigetsu wanted a sword, but I told him no."
"But it was cool! Coke on, that baby needs yo know the truth!"
I laugh. "Not yet, Suigetsu."
He pouts. "Well I got it so…"
"Yes, and you're payment is due soon," Tenten says. "I know; I know," he sighs. Jugo gives us a bear and some more toys. "Sorry it's not much."
"All of this is great thank you, Jugo "
He smiles. "I'm glad."
"Now we can go!" Guy cheers, wheeling himself over.
Kakashi sighs, but the look I'm his eyes tells me he's happy too.
A wolf cub and tortoise plushy are given as well as a turtle, yellow toad, owl, and wolf plushy.
"It was sweet of you guys to think of Had, Sakumo, Obito, and Rin."
"Indeed," i say.
"Well,v that's just a bit."
We receive a whole bed set and a mobile as well as some "training equipment".
"He can crawl and do all kinds of things!"
"The mobile has all the animals you listed out, Orochimaru. "
"Aww!"
"Thank you." I turn to them. "This is simply banazing. I'm glad my son is so loved." I place a hand on my abdomen, rubbing it.
Naruto pulls me close, rubbing it as well. "He sure is, Oreo, he sure is.
Jugo
Sasuke and I sit uptop the Hokage momument gazing out at the village. A cool gentle night breeze blows through our hair. Only the drunks and those on night duty are prowling.
"Things sure have changed, huh?" I say.
"hm."
"What are you thinking about?"
Sasuke is silent for a while, watching the village he once swore to destroy.
"Orochimaru's and Naruto's baby are due in three days."
"It's already that time? Time sure goes by fast. How do you feel about that?"
He looks at me for a bit then turns to the village again. "About my master and best friend having a child together or them being together in general?"
"Both."
He doesn't reply for a while.
I watch him, studying his expressions that people who truly pay attention can see in Sasuke. His eyes cloud over with a mist of sadness, but there are rays of happiness in them as well.
He closes his eyes, taking in the peaceful air into his lungs then expelling it slowly.
"I find it difficult to grasp that Naruto is with Orochimaru. Even when I was falling into darkness, I could sense the feelings Hinata had for Naruto. Naruto's feelings were harder to read, but I could sense something was there. When he confessed he loved Orochimaru, I honestly thought he had lost his mind. I knew Orochimaru had changed, but to have my best friend claim to be in love with him was overwhelming."
"and now?"
"I can see that they are truly in love."
"But do you accept it?"
"I want them happy. Both of them deserve it."
"Lord Orochimaru would be happy to know you care about him."
"He has a gift like Naruto. Isnt that why you follow him?"
"Yes, and it seems Lord Naruto is leading him on the right path."
"This child will change them."
"We're going to have to help them."
"I had planned on it."
We sit in silence for a while.
"Have you talked to him?"
"No, I plan to after the baby is born."
"I see. It would be-"
Kieski slithers out of my cloak pocket. She's shaking and drained of energy.
"Lady Kieski?"
"Orochi… hatchling…"
Sasuke glance at each other and rush to the hospital.
