My Adventures With The Ogre
A Fanfiction written by Kieran
Chapter One: First Meeting
"I woke up this morning feeling wonderful. I took a shower, got dressed, ate breakfast, had an argument with my dumb sister… ugh, I don't know why she's always like this. Grandma says that she was always so sweet even when I was born until "the incident". What incident? No one tells me anything. I asked her about it but she told me until I was older.
Ugh! It's always the same excuse. "I'll tell you when you're older", I think I can handle whatever incident happened to Carmine. Maybe it's… older teenage problems. Perhaps a nasty breakup? Well, whatever it may be, apparently this happened when I was really little. I don't remember much when I was a little boy…
Anyway, after yet another argument with my sister, I walked outside to get some fresh air. I looked at my watch. 8:30. I was already wasting daylight. I need to go see if that ogre is in the den.
I walked to Kitakami Hall, enjoying the fresh air and saying hi to the local Pokemon. A Kricketune was playing a symphony… I always enjoyed listening to Kricketune. I make my way to Kitakami Hall and then go past the signboard. The mountain was close.
I turn my attention to the signboard and softly smile. The masks that this Ogre wears are really cool… it's unfortunate that they were stolen. I have a feeling the Loyal Three aren't as loyal as they are. No, they could be the Dangerously Cruel Three for all I care. The real hero is my personal hero, the ogre.
I want to be friends with the ogre!
I ran through the mountain, making sure not to step on any Pokemon tails. I run across the bridge and up the slope to the Ogre's Den. I'm almost there… just got to get past these Geodude, especially where one can Terastallize for some reason. Oh good, it's taking a nap. Phew!
I walk into the den.
"Hello? Ogre…? It's me, Kieran. Your number one fan."
No response. As usual.
With a heavy sigh, I walk into the den and sat on a rock, presumably the ogre's bed. Not sure how it sleeps at night. Maybe I oughta make it comfier someday.
I get off the bed and walk outside, letting out a heavy sigh. I just wanted to be the ogre's friend. I don't have any friends… Everyone at Blueberry just hangs around Carmine like she's the popular girl in school. I don't have anyone to talk to. I mean, there's Lacey… but I think she just talks to me out of pity. She always seems more interested in her Granbull.
Then again, there's Drayton but… he always inserts himself into people's lives whenever he can. It's kinda… annoying. Is he really a friend if he violates my personal bubble?
I start to go back to Mossui Town dejected.
Suddenly, I hear a voice. I perk up excited.
"Ogre?"
It wasn't the Ogre. It was that sparkly Geodude known to Terastallize. It let out a cry and Terastallized.
To make matters worse, I left my Pokemon at home. Shoot!
I'm in trouble. I slowly back away but nearly fall off the trail. I look down, seeing the water below. I could jump and land in the water… but my luck? I'd land right on a Magikarp and it will evolve out of anger for landing on it.
The Geodude gets closer, threatening to punch the stuffing out of me. There was no way I could break free, no matter what I could do.
And then it happened.
A silhouette jumped over the Geodude and whacked it with its cudgel. I stare in awe at my savior, which was none other than the ogre itself. I stared in wonder. The beautiful shape of the creature, the mask it wore… it was beautiful to look at.
The ogre approaches me as I slowly back up, thinking it will come and bop me on the head. Instead, it reaches down and offers my hand. I take it as it dusts me off and pats me on the shoulder. I have to admit… for a giant ogre, it sure is a friendly one.
It invites me to its den as I follow it. To my surprise, it brings out a board game and we play for hours. It even brought along some snacks to quell my hunger. I had a blast!
By the time we were done, I realized it was getting dark. The ogre escorted me home while I had a conversation with the ogre. Well, to be fair, it was a one sided conversation since the ogre doesn't speak at all. But I can imagine the ogre was amused with my chats.
When I walked back into Mossui, I turn around to thank the ogre… but it was long gone. Perhaps for the best. The townsfolk believe the ogre to be a monster, but I think differently. I go back home where I get a scolding from Carmine.
I wish she'd get off my back…
After dinner, I head for bed with a smile on my face. Tomorrow is a new day."
Chapter 2: Do You Want To Be Friends?
"I walk out of my house after breakfast, making my way to the rice fields. I gather up some material from over there with some Corphish curiously watching me. By the time I'm done, I hurry over to Carmine and ask her if I could borrow her Leavanny.
"Why do you want my Leavanny?" She asks.
"Because I want to make a blanket." I reply.
Carmine's eyes widen as she looks at me as if I grew a second head. I see her form a smile and she hands me Leavanny's ball.
"Don't make anything stupid", she tells me and walks off to Peachy's.
Ha. As if I'd make something stupid!
I call Leavanny out and she helps me make a blanket out of the material I've gathered. When she was finished, I hug her in gratitude and put her back in her Pokeball. Unfortunately, I couldn't locate Carmine so I head back home and put Leavanny's ball in Carmine's room. I'm never allowed in her room so I just gently open the door and roll the ball in.
Unfortunately, the angle was awkward. The darn thing rolled under the bed!
Ah well. I'm not allowed in her room. She can fish it out herself. She's a big girl after all.
I make my way back to the ogre's den. If the ogre isn't there, then that's perfect! It'd be a cute surprise!
By the time I got there, the ogre wasn't there. Perfect!
I walk into the den and laid the blanket out on the bed. I even brought an extra pillow just in case and lay it on the end of the bed. I sure hope it's the bed. It'd be really awkward if I put a blanket on what I presumed was the bed and it was a kitchen table.
…On the plus side, at least the table wouldn't be messy from chopping up fruits! Would make the fabric sticky though.
I walk out of the den and hide behind the rocks waiting for the right moment. A few minutes go by and the ogre comes back with a fishing rod. It walks into the den and lets out a surprise roar. I fist pump and then peek inside, seeing the ogre nuzzle the blanket affectionately.
I smiled, fist pumping in success. I might have cheered kind of loudly because the ogre turned to look at me. I cover my mouth in embarrassment as I try to make a run for it but the ogre stops me and hugs me in gratitude.
Huh… I didn't know hugs from the ogre could be so… gentle.
I hug it back.
"Hey ogre. Do you want to be friends?" I ask.
The ogre looked at me and tilted its head before nodding, continuing to hug me.
I made a new friend that day… and it feels good!"
Chapter 3 - He's Not a Monster
"Days go by and I'm happy as a Clampearl. My sister wonders why I'm so happy. My grandparents think I have a girlfriend.
"What?! Did Amarys talk to you?!" Carmine wonders aloud.
"What? No, I haven't talked to Amarys in a while! I don't know what you're talking about!"
I leave the house completely flustered and go back to the ogre's den. I feel… comforted around the ogre. I've met it a few days ago but I feel right at home with it. It's weird, but what can you do?
The townsfolk know of the legend and they will freak out if the ogre is there. But maybe I can convince them if I show how kind the ogre is?
I walk up to the ogre's den and the ogre was waiting for me! We go to the Crystal Pools together, saying hi to the Chimecho that live there and we have ourselves a picnic by the pools. We spot a Feebas in the water… I've always wanted to see a Milotic up close, but hey, a Feebas works too. Perhaps it will evolve soon.
After our picnic, we lay on our backs and watch the clouds roll by. I talk with the ogre about taking it to Mossui. At first, the ogre was hesitant, but I gently coaxed it, saying I will be there for it.
We make our way back to the village where the townsfolk spotted us. They screamed and ran away, but they came back with pitchforks and torches, telling me to get away from the beast. Out of all the reactions I was expecting, this was not one of them.
I defend the ogre, holding its hand as I tell them the ogre is actually a sweetheart, and that I've been friends with it for a while now.
"Oh please, how can anyone be friends with a monster?"
"It's not a monster!" I shot back.
"Kieran, that thing is a killing machine. The Loyal Three died protecting our town!"
"The Loyal Three are overrated! The ogre is my personal hero!"
"Boy, you are a youngster. It is understandable that you would want to be friends with the ogre, but idolizing it is wrong!"
"Just like how you idolize the stupid Loyal Three? You built a shrine dedicated to them at Loyalty Plaza! Where's the respect for the ogre?"
"There is no respect for a monster!"
"The ogre is not a monster!"
"Get away from it, boy!"
"NO!"
Carmine walked up to me. She had her crossbow in her hand and knelt down in front of me.
"Kieran. This thing is dangerous. It will eat you up and spit out your bones. You shouldn't idolize this… thing."
I should not be surprised that she's siding with them.
"Why am I not surprised… you'd rather be friends with the Loyal Three than the ogre."
I turn my attention back to the townsfolk.
"Listen to me! The ogre is not your enemy! It is not dangerous!"
"Who filled your head with these lies? The ogre must be destroyed!"
"...If you destroy the ogre, then you will destroy me." I say as I put my arms out in front of the ogre. "The ogre is my best friend!"
The ogre looks at me with compassion in its covered eyes.
"Fine, if you don't want it here, then I will leave with it. We're leaving!"
"And where will you be leaving?" Carmine asks.
"Away from you close minded idiots!"
I run out of Mossui Town with the ogre in tow, disappearing past the bus stop. No one followed.
It was just me and the Ogre now. Just by ourselves. All alone.
And we liked it that way.
Chapter 4 - Rise to the Top
Months have passed since we left Kitakami. We're foraging by ourselves in the heart of Johto. It's surprisingly a lot of fun! We train together against the wild Pokemon and fight against powerful Pokemon trainers. We are unstoppable!
News spread that a trainer and their unique Pokemon are running rampant and destroying trainers left and right.
We are untouchable.
They make a play about us. Out with the so-called Eevee play and in with me and the ogre, played by talented folk. It was pretty fun!
I soon get the idea that we rise to the very top of Johto. The ogre agrees with me as we defeat the eight gyms.
But we haven't fought the champion. Not yet anyway. Lance is our target, but he will be later's meal.
For you see, there is a ranking amongst the champions on who is weakest to strongest.
7. Diantha
6. Geeta
5. Iris
4. Lance (Covers both Kanto and Johto)
3. Umber/Gloria (I am genuinely surprised the Alolan and Galarian champs are tied.)
2. Steven
1. Cynthia
It will be a tough hill to climb after facing the Unovan Champion, but I know we can do it. We WILL win. The ogre and I are undefeatable.
We'll make our way to Kalos and destroy the Kalos League before humiliating Diantha. And we will be champions of the world. Not even Cynthia can defeat us.
I made friendship bracelets with the ogre. They show our powerful bond between human and ogre.
Once we are the top champions, we will be the best that no one ever was.
And then maybe… just maybe… the both of us will get the respect that we deserve.
We're coming for you, Cynthia.
End
"Hmmm…" Kieran tapped his fingers on his desk, re-reading the last chapter. "Too power hungry…?" He wondered to himself.
He shook his head. "Nah, perfectly in-character for my self insert." He chuckled as he walked off to get something to eat with a smile on his face.
"...Now if only I can actually come face to face with the ogre."
Deadpool: *blinks* ...And I thought my fanfiction with Wolverine was wild.
