Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto or Yosuga no Sora.

'Soft.' The girl sighed as she was laid gently into the lap. It felt as if everything had slowly faded away the closer she got to him. All the awful feelings and memories were replaced with nothing but comfort. The bad dreams had long been chased away with his presence.

The only thing she could compare to it was her own mother's lap yet it was so wildly different. The way his fingers felt and the way he spoke to her made her feel fuzzy in a different way.

"Princess Kaguya?" Sora muttered as her cheek squished onto the boy's lap. The girl felt the hum from the depths of her chest as she squinted her eyes feeling the blonde rubbing her head. It was embarrassing at first but she couldn't help but lean into his touch more. She never got tired of it.

She closed her eyes cutely seeing the sun shine in her eyes. It stung a bit and made the comfortable position unbearable so she shifted away from it wishing she could go back under her covers with him as her bigger teddy.

It had been a while after the little escapade and the two children had only gotten that much closer. While Sora wasn't too much of a talker she couldn't help but open up under the blonde's earnest wishes and insistent advances. It was like he didn't take no for an answer but it was in a good sort of way.

If that made sense.

Oh and head rubs. Many many head rubs.

Naruto paused his hand stroking her hair as he looked down to his best friend enjoying the way her eyes closed in distress by him moving his hand. He gazed at her silver hair still entranced by the hair color. It really was out of this world to him. He looked at the porcelain girl.

"You've never heard about the story of princess Kaguya, Sora?" The boy questioned her a bit confused, seeing her shake her head slowly.

Humming for a bit he patted her head again as he looked around the same hospital. It had become so much better to be here rather than alone and he hoped it never ended.

He glanced at her side of the room, smiling at the new pictures on the wall before he looked down at her again, taking a lock of her long hair strand in his hands.

"Would you like to hear it? My mom told me about it all the time. I can probably say it in my sleep! " He saw her shifting as she giggled, turning her body before her grey eyes looked directly into his blue ones as intently as ever. The more she got less sad the more it seemed she focused on him.

He noticed the latent happiness there. It was easy to see when she only had sadness there before. He compared it to seeing a black board all the time then spots of white appearing slowly expanding in size.

He felt his own chest stiff in response to it. Not a bad stiffness but a good one.

The boy smiled seeing the unworded acceptance as he began.

"Well a long time ago, an old man who was a bamboo cutter saw that one of the logs he'd gathered was glittering in a peculiar manner, illuminated by the moon."

"Taking the log, he realized a beautiful and tiny little girl, about 7 centimeters tall, had been inside it." Naruto saw the girl's eyes glimmer as she listened attentively to his reciting.

"So small?"

"Mhm! She was barely taller than my pinky!" The boy wiggled the finger in front of her as she smiled.

"The man brought her to his home because he'd never had a child to his own name, and between him and his wife, they took care of her as if she were their own daughter. She was named Princess Moonlight. In the log in which the man had found his new daughter, gold and gems had appeared and the bamboo cutter became wealthy in a short manner." The boy titled his head seeing the confused look on her face.

"Sora?"

"Oh..it's just how did he sell them? Wouldn't that cause trouble?" The girl questioned tilting her head.

The boy blanked out as he thought about it before he pouted looking at her. How was he supposed to know?! It was only a fake story!

The girl seeing his face looked away with her pale cheeks a bit red as she mumbled "sorry". Feeling the fingers come through her hair she glanced back up.

Naruto continued on after making sure she knew he wasn't mad.

"The little girl grew into a beautiful woman, and over the years, people began to learn of the existence of this lady. Suitors from all over came for her hand."

"However on a single occasion, five men of great stature approached the house of the bamboo cutter trying to persuade him for her hand."

"The man was old and didn't want to leave her alone upon dying, so he and her argued many times. But she still refused to take any, making irrational requests of her suitors to avoid marrying." Naruto saw the girl shift as he paused. Making sure she was ready he continued on. He wasn't surprised at her quietness knowing she was of that nature already."

"The existence of the beautiful young woman soon came to the attention of the emperor, who requested that she appear in his court. When she refused, he went to her himself and upon seeing her, he too fell. He tried taking the girl to his palace to marry her, but the woman assured him that if she was forced, he would never gaze upon her again."

"Each night, she watched the sky with melancholy. It was time to return to her place of origin, and it was then that she confessed to her adoptive father, in tears, that she had come from the moon and that her time on Earth was to end. Upon learning of this, the emperor sent guards to the house of the bamboo cutter, to try to prevent the princess from returning to her place of origin."

And on and on the boy went as the entranced girl listened, closing her eyes imagining her own mother telling it.

He spoke about how a carriage glamorous and illuminated by the moon luminescence arrived before the princess. How all in the lands witnessed the arrival.

How she left reluctantly knowing she was leaving everything behind but still adhering to her duty knowing she had responsibilities as the princess of the Moon.

"To this day there is said to be a smoke at Mount Fuji, the letter and elixir that the Princess left for the emperor is said to be burning there for the rest of eternity…" the boy finished sighing in relief before he and the once sleepy girl turned towards the sound of applause.

They both looked at the woman with black hair tied down and dressed in nurse robes.

"What a wonderful story Naruto. I'm sure Sora enjoyed it quite well, hmm?" The nurse looked downwards with a smile when the little girl blushed before snuggling further into the blonde.

Smiling at the display of childishness the nurse looked back up to the shy blonde's eyes gazing at her. Knowing the two kids felt a bit vulnerable at her presence the woman made the reason for her presence known.

'Still its progress.' She thought happily. They were far more averse to visitors in the beginning and she was afraid the trauma would keep it that way.

She couldn't help but be happy about how far they came. She was glad she pushed for both to room together. With their statuses it really shouldn't be possible. Luckily the boy's guardian had been lax.

'Well that's not actually a good thing.' The woman scolded herself quickly. How could she think such a horrid thing?

"You two have been inside too long. You need to stretch your legs and get some sunshine. I'll be watching you both so put your slippers on and come with me." The woman instructed gently, watching as the two kids scrambled to follow.

Naruto extended his hand to the side as he felt the fingers interlace with his own without hesitation. He looked down at the tiny fingers before peering into the girl's eyes.

He smiled as they walked behind the nurse.

"Excited?!" The boy whispered as the girl hummed for a bit.

"No…" She immediately replied, shocking the boy. He thought they were on the same wavelength!

"Why?!" It was so strange to him for her not to be excited.

"...I'd rather be inside." The "with you" was unsaid as she looked forward sadly. Why would she want to go outside when he was right here along with a comfortable space?

"...outside is scary, too many bad things happen." Who knew when something bad would happen to her.

Or even to him…

"..." Naruto didn't know what to say to it as he looked forward awkwardly. He was a bit scared too but he didn't think about it much. The thought of not going outside was too foreign to him. Thinking about it he decided to say.

"I'll protect you." He mumbled to himself not letting the girl hear him. She was precious to him and he wanted to make sure she stayed with him forever. The time he spent with her had been some of the best that he had ever had.

Swinging her hand back and forth Naruto ignored the whispers that consisted of either them being "too cute", something about "Heir", or being too "skinny".

He had a bit of practice in ignoring such things so he looked around before feeling his mood drop at the sight that entered his eyes.

The boy glanced around at the other patients quietly. There didn't seem to be any real physical injuries…but he knew the problem lied elsewhere for most of them

Turning his eye away from the woman who was seemingly having a breakdown the boy glanced at the girl who squeezed his hand not looking at him. Feeling a bit better he looked as they went forward following the nurse.

Soon enough they were outside and the boy took a deep breath of the fresh air. Feeling the sting of the sun of his body the boy looked around the landscape greedily. It had been too long since he'd been out here.

The Hospital garden was nestled within a lush forested area. It had a winding pathway bordered by tall trees and native plants and air was filled with the soothing sounds of rustling leaves.

Wooden benches and stone seating areas are scattered around. A stream trickled nearby and further down the path, a secluded clearing with soft grassy patches layed ahead.

"Wow…"The boy looked around with wide eyes as the girl looked around less than impressed.

The nurse smiled at the differing reactions as she sat down on a bench. "You two can go explore around. When it's time to come back I'll find you."

That was all they needed to hear as they immediately ran forward into the mini forest. Pulling her along like a suitcase Naruto nearly went wild.

"Naruto!" The girl panted begging him to slow down. She wasn't very strong to begin with!

Naruto quickly looked back, panicked as he slowed down. He looked her over making sure everything was alright

"Sorry Sora!" The boy apologized as he fussed over her like a mother hen.

She shook her head pushing away the hands quickly getting up.

"It's okay but slow down?" She scolded with an annoyed face as he nodded sheepishly. The boy took her hand again and slowly this time pulled her towards the stream.

Both children looked at it silently before they saw a fish come down.

"Koi!" The boy looked at the stream as he immediately caught the fish within his eyesight. It was a rather big one too.

"Pretty…" the girl mumbled as they both crouched down. Naruto glanced at her face seeing her entranced with the sight feeling an unfamiliar emotion. He looked back to the fish swimming around.

"I'll buy you some Sora!" The boy told her with a large smile puffing his chest out. The girl looked over to him with a deadpan.

"Liar! Kids don't have money!" She wiggled her finger at him knowing he was fibbing.

"Nuh uh! I totally have money!"

"You don't!"

"I do!"

"You don't!"

"I do!"

"You don't!

"I don't!

"You do!"

"Ha!" The boy laughed triumphantly as the girl's eyes widened.

"..."

"Hey Sora?" the boy looked over to the girl frowning when she turned away. Trying to see her face he blinked when she turned away each time.

'She's mad?' the boy scratched his head and sat back on his haunches as he looked around confused. Spotting something he glanced at the random flower that was completely out of place.

Looking at it in confusion the boy shook his head before moving over to it.

Sora turned her head away about to ignore him again, however she caught something in her sight.

"...For me?" The girl didn't take the flower that was placed near her as she looked up at the boy hesitantly. He nodded quickly, encouraging her to take it as she did so slowly.

"Sorry.." she put her head down as she held it knowing she was being too childish ignoring him. She glanced up seeing him sit near her bumping their shoulders with a smile.

"It's okay." The boy took her hand knowing she wasn't really mad at him as they both looked into the forest.

(Break)

"I got it!" The girl said as the boy threw down the apple. Feeling her hands sting a bit, she didn't tell him as she saw him climbing down like a monkey. She giggled seeing his mouth filled with an apple as he tried talking, failing.

"Here!" She took it out of his mouth scrunching her nose at the salvia that came with it. Handing it back to him he took a back before they quickly ran back to the stream to wash their fruits.

"You're pretty strong huh Naruto?" The girl glanced over to him as she washed her fruit off. She had seen how easily he had climbed the tree and it astounded her a bit. She wouldn't think he could do it given how small they both were.

"Huhuhu! Of course! I've been training since I was a little kid!" The boy flexed his muscles quickly wanting to show off.

"Littler kid?" She smiled at his indignant look before she was confused seeing his eyes widened quickly.

"Noooooo!" Both kids watched as the fruit he dropped were carried down the stream quickly before disappearing.

Naruto dropped onto his hands and knees. There were no more fruits around or on the tree!

Sora laughed, taking a big old crunch out of her own apple watching as his neck twisted over to her. Feeling a chill the girl held her apple to her chest.

"Give me a-"

"No!"

"Why?!"

"It's mine! Get your own Na-ru-to!" The girl said resolved to protect her apple.

"Don't be selfish Sora, I just want a bite." The boy saw the girl turn away stubbornly as he hugged her from behind not feeling her freeze.

"Pleassseee?" He reached out to the frozen hand with the apple shaking it. Seeing her not resist he pulled it closer glancing at her face the entire time before taking a bite.

'Ah man that's awful!' The boy's face nearly turned green at the sour apple. Why was it so bad?! Still he knew he couldn't look ungrateful so-

"Thanks!" He moved away chewing fake happily as the girl looked at the apple complicatedly.

Glancing back at the boy she took another bite not saying anything.

(Break)

"Who's going to take care of us now, Naruto?" The girl looked to the boy who was walking in front of her, marching with each step. Apparently he wanted to scout out the forest before they went back.

Stepping over a large branch she looked over to him waiting for his answer.

"No clue?" The boy shrugged, getting her to blink incredulously.

"Really?"

"Well yeah. My Godfather should probably be taking care of me but he's not really the best now.." the boy's tone was blank and devoid of feelings before he smiled at the girl.

"What about you? Who's going to take care of you Sora?" That was on his mind a lot. Where would his friend go after this? He was anxious to know.

The girl hummed thinking about it before she ultimately settled on an answer. "Maybe my grandparents? They're the only people I can really think of that will take care of me."

Slowing down the girl caught the boy's attention as he did the same watching her.

"If they can't I'll probably go to a…" she hesitated feeling a bit weird. After all, when did a child ever have to think about going to a..

"Orphanage." Naruto finished as the girl nodded slowly and painfully. Even if she was still small she still knew a bit about the dislike for orphans. In fact her own father held a bit of that himself.

She could only hope her grandparents did want her after all of this. Even if they never once showed a dislike for her or her brother the irrational fear still gripped her as she took deep heaving gulps.

The girl slowly came to as she felt the arms squeezing her. Feeling her vision come back she felt the blonde hair before she saw it. Throwing her arms around him she squeezed him, feeling the panic subside as her breath evened.

Nuzzling into the boy she looked down feeling her heartbeat painfully. Even though she calmed down, the thought of going to an Orphanage scared her so much she wanted to cry.

"Naruto?" The girl said, startled as she felt herself being lifted. Flustered, she quickly pulled down her gown as she slapped him repeatedly.

"Ow, ow!" The boy quickly dropped the girl holding his face against the assault. Why?!

"What are you doing?! Can't you see I'm wearing a…" She paused seeing him look at her with a confused pout.

"I only wanted to carry you…you don't have to be so mean you know?" The boy grumbled as he turned away feeling annoyed.

Sora twisted her hospital gown looking at him as he kneeled down drawing holes in the ground. Breathing out she approached him slowly.

"Huh?" Naruto looked to the side feeling an unexpected weight shift onto him as he nearly fell. Catching himself in time he saw Sora looking at him strangely.

"Isn't this what you wanted?!"

"You could have given me a warning!" He grumbled as he got up on his feet. Feeling her hands encircle his neck he looked down seeing her feet do the same as well as he gripped them.

Walking forward he grumbled though it was obvious he was happy as he teased her. "You need to eat more, y'know? Your lighter than a-. Ow." He nearly rubbed his ear feeling the tiny pinch.

The girl after punishing the boy for his smart mouth laid her entire weight down on him, surprised he could lift her. Again he showed her he was surprisingly strong.

They walked for atleast a minute in silence. The girl leaned forward breathing as she looked at the forest. She wouldn't lie and say it was as bad as she thought. She glanced at Naruto as he began talking.

"Y-you won't have to go if you don't want.." She furrowed her brows trying to figure out what he was saying as he spoke.

"Go where?"

"...away…the orphanage I mean. If you don't want to…" The girl listened to the boy as she squeezed his neck a bit harder. The words were comforting even if they weren't true.

"Really?" She played into his words knowing he was trying to help her like always and like always she greedily accepted.

"M-My family is a bit well off so I'm sure that I.." she listened as the boy babbled on feeling warmer as he went on.

"I don't really know much about the money stuff since I wasn't the heir but.." He was interrupted.

"Naruto?" The girl mumbled as the boy finally felt the liquid on his shoulder soaking through the hospital gown.

"Sor-"

"Be quiet." She mumbled sighing as the boy clamped up. Not wanting to speak about it anymore she raised her hands before poking his cheeks.

"Sowa?" The boy's speech was hindered as he felt his cheeks being mused and mashed like dough. It didn't feel bad at all but it was kinda embarrassing.

Especially when she looked at him like that and didn't speak at all. She just stared at him.

Creepily.

The girl played with his face happily feeling relaxed. Finally able to think properly she thought about the fake problem. She definitely wasn't going to any orphanage, her grandparents loved her too much to allow that.

She could remember visiting them very vividly and they were always welcoming to her and her family so she didn't know why she panicked so much. It wasn't even a question unless they somehow…

The girl came back to her senses and looked at the sweating boy who was clearly unnerved by her silence. While she knew she was okay, the blonde didn't and she couldn't help but look at him a bit deeper at the care he showed for her.

She wanted to keep him near her forever and she only knew one way to do so.

"I want you to promise me Naruto." She spoke as the boy sighed in relief, nodding.

"Sure Sora. What do you want-" The boy froze.

"..."

Moving away the girl smiled smugly as she rested her chin onto his head, closing her eyes with blazing red cheeks.

Silence reigned as the boy simply stood and said nothing. After 30 seconds he began moving forward uncharacteristically silent.

Perhaps it had something to do with his dizzy eyes looking at the floor in shyness and his crimson cheeks shining similarly to the girl.

(Break)

The nurse raised an eyebrow seeing the children come back early. She had thought she would have to go out herself but it seemed they made her work easier. Dusting herself off she got up before walking over to them.

'Hmm?' The woman sensed something rather strange as she looked at their faces. She couldn't quite make out what happened but…

"Sora, Naruto? Did something strange happen while you were away? You both don't seem like yourselves." She walked forward placing a hand on the boy's shoulder watching as he let the girl get off from his back.

The boy looked up at her with awkward blue eyes as if he didn't really know what to say as he stepped forward. After a minute of clearly hyping himself up he said.

"Oh well I found an apple tree with 2 apples and got them. But I lost one so I had to…" She watched as he glanced at the girl who looked away to the side.

"I took a bite out of Sora's. It tasted bad." Her face took on an amused look as she patted his shoulder in sympathy.

"Really? I'm surprised anything was even left. That tree should have long been done bearing fruits. You two were pretty lucky huh?" She saw him nodding as she glanced at her watch idly. They still had some time but she supposed it would be good to pack up early.

"Are you two ready to leave? Sora. Naruto." She glanced back at the silent girl who turned and nodded, sending a glance to the boy who also did so.

….

'Okay. Something definitely happened that they're not telling me." The woman was sure of it now as she sighed. Looking at their forms she made sure they were okay before she began ushering back to their hospital room.

As the kids went back inside they glanced backwards hearing someone call the nurse holding a phone. Watching as she left they saw the door slam shut.

The two kids looked at each other not really knowing what to do. Sora hadn't really planned further than that and Naruto was completely caught off guard.

So the boy moved towards his bed slowly looking around his resting place at the many other hand drawn pictures on the floor. Picking them up he glanced over to Sora doing the same. Catching her eyes he looked away quickly just like she did.

After stacking his papers up, he placed them on the bed before sitting down awkwardly. He drummed his fingers on his thighs as he watched the girl slowly slink over to him after taking her shoes off.

Sora sat on the bed holding her recently acquired doll to herself. Glancing at the boy through bangs of hair she moved closer to the boy.

Said boy looked at her weirdly but didn't say much. After all, he did like her being near him.

Feeling her press against him he took two pieces of already cut paper. Handing one to the confused girl he began folding his own slowly.

'Ah!' The girl quickly scrambled realizing what he was doing. Trying her best to keep up she tried making the origami as well with rather predictable results.

"Pft. Don't worry Sora. You'll get better?" The boy tried his best to keep in his laughter seeing the misshapen crow. It looked like some kind of lumpy shape and he couldn't help it.

Seeing the boy laugh at her, Sora narrowed her eyes as she pouted sullen.

"Not funny Naruto!" She poked him in the rib, getting him to flinch.

"Hey!" The boy immediately gripped the tiny girl in a loose chokehold. No one would get one over Naruto Uzumaki!

"Say uncle!" He playfully commanded the girl as she fake struggled, understanding he was playing with her.

"Never!" Getting a bit too energetic the girl mistakenly jabbed him with her elbow.

"Ugh! Why you!" The boy grunted as he immediately lifted her up slamming her down as she squeaked.

The nurse came back in as she poked her head inside glancing at the wrestling children in fond exasperation as she unknowingly separated them for quite some time.

"Sora? Your grandmother is here."

(Break)

"Young Man? The plane has landed." The flight attendant said as she looked down at the fine specimen that was the blonde haired young man waking up slowly. He was quite handsome… A bit too young for her taste though.

That was what she told herself anyway as she shook him gently before removing her hand slowly.

Short sleeve shirt with a button up collar and long black pants…Well it wasn't any of her business and he did look rather enticing with those muscular arms and…

She immediately spotted the expensive watch on his hands and the unique green gem necklace. Looking up she saw the neck long hair as the young glanced upwards with a heaving "Yosh!"

"Thanks miss! Definitely didn't want to get stuck here any longer." The woman took a step back seeing the boy stand up and tower over her. Feeling a bit intimidated she smiled and bowed politely, a bit surprised the foreigners' Japanese was so good.

"No problem sir. It was my duty. Now please, right this way?" She fixed her hand to show him the way to the door as he walked out with a happy nod.

Naruto, not paying any more attention to her, went through the regular processes. After a rather extensive search and getting his one bag back the boy stayed inside the airport sitting on a bench as he fiddled with his phone feeling melancholic.

He was sure no one would ever think he came here without a plan.

Looking up he glanced at the stare he felt seeing the girl turn away. After making sure he wasn't being stalked the boy used the directory to find what he was looking for.

After the operator hooked him up he placed the phone against his ears waiting anxiously. This was it. No more obstacles stood between them now. He hoped she hadn't forgotten him.

"Kyousuke Mental Hospital's Akari Tanaka speaking, how may I help you?" He heard the woman's voice as he took a calm breath.

"Good evening, I would like to ask if Aya Sato is still employed there? I'm a former patient and would like to extend my sincere gratitude to her." Naruto got it all out as silence reigned for a second.

After 5 seconds he heard the reply. "Name sir?"

"Uzumaki Naruto."

"Please hold."

Naruto did as he looked around the airport. It wasn't as exciting seeing as how he was a native here but still some things did catch his eye. Especially that teddy bear in the gift shop.

'I wonder if she would like it…' He came back to hearing the voice as he smiled in nostalgia.

"Naruto kun? Is it really you? I haven't heard from you in ages. How are you?" The young man chuckled, hearing the ever patient measured tone.

"I'm doing fine, Aya Oneesan. Thank you for asking. How about you? Are you well?" He politely asked, having learnt some manners.

"Well? A bit of an understatement. I've recently given birth to a healthy little girl." The boy's eyes widened as he heard the news. That was great!

"Congratulations Neesan! What did you name her?!"

"Nanami after her grandmother. She has her eyes and nose so it felt appropriate. That said, Naruto kun, while I know you are happy to see me, why did you call?" The boy scratched his head feeling a bit ashamed but he moved on knowing the woman forgave him.

"Sorry about that Neesan but…" He scratched his head feeling sheepish.

"Ah you see I wanted to…find Sora. I haven't met her since back then because of ...circumstances." His face twisted a bit angrily but he didn't go into it.

" I also don't know where she is. That's when I realized you may know." The boy admitted softly, not hesitating much. Of course he had other ways of finding out but this was by far the easiest.

"Really? That's a shame. I had thought you two were long inseparable by now." She paused clearly thinking about whether to entertain his request.

After an agonizing 10 seconds Naruto breathed out a sigh of relief. He had been waiting too long to see her again.

"I won't speak anymore over the phone about this matter but you can come to xxxxx at xxxxx. I'll see what I can do for you, Naruto kun." He felt his body relaxing in happiness.

Finally something was going right.
