Chapter 34

Two months ago…

It wasn't his proudest moment, and yet given the circumstances and binding vow in place from Lady Tiamat, it was the only thing he could do. Sukuna had been tasked to helping Toji when he is out in public. He didn't understand since Ryoto was tending to him, yet since Lady Tiamat asked, he couldn't refuse.

Toji himself has become an oddity.

When Sukuna saw him after his latest feeding session. The once former human… stood as tall as him, his size nearly matched up to Sukuna's physic.

Yet, the strangest part is this, he is much like his son.

Various parts of his body are that of a dragon, while other parts are human. At the time, he had two small points sticking out of his brow and possessed dragon eyes with a slight point to his ears. His fingernails were black as night and his teeth were jagged. "I'm a bigger threat than you!" Toji stated proudly.

Sukuna smirked. "Indeed, makes it all the more clear as to why lady Tiamat told me to go with you"

That knocked the wind out of his sails for a moment, but the main question is, will Megumi Fushiguro in the mindset of an infant… know who he is? He donned on the divine mask to be safe than sorry, and much to his surprise, Megumi didn't react at all to him. They even locked eyes but he didn't cry or scream, yet there was a look of distrust.

'There it is' Sukuna thought. But, perhaps he can let this child see he truly is here to help. Perhaps this day would prove it.

Sometimes, when he asks for something to occur, the universe tends to unleash it ten fold…

They were in the streets of Tokyo, a distance from the domain and yet, Sukuna couldn't help but keep his back up to it all. He felt someone was following them and they were gaining ground.

"You see them?" Toji asked as he growled lowly.

"We barely arrived and yet, here they are…" Sukuna muttered back. "However, as promised to your woman, I cannot fight in a crowded street or do anything that will endanger others, you or your child… my hands are tied."

If that's the case, why was he to be with Toji as he was out in the city?

Sukuna knows Lady Tiamat never asks for a favor without reason, nor would she request specific people for a non specific task in mind or to remedy a possible situation. The more he is around her, the more he sees how she works. Despite the fact her rule dictates she cannot interfere with various tasks that occur in this world, she can nudge them into the direction she wants.

As such, why he is here with Toji and Megumi. 'She knew about these humans too didn't she? I can smell cryptic blood in their clothing and flesh… huh… I didn't realize divine beings had such a scent in their blood…' he cannot argue that Rook has helped him broadened his mind, senses and views. Since the boy cannot depend on curse energy, he relies on his sense. Taking a page from the boy, Sukuna has attempted to do just that. Rely on his natural abilities and not the curse energy he possesses.

"What do you want to do?" he asked Toji.

"We keep walking, keep going about our day…"

"Why are we out here?" Sukuna asked, not realizing he has yet to question the motive for this excursion.

"Baby diapers." Toji said begrudgingly.

'It's more than that, especially when your wife needed me to go along with you… perhaps it to gauge the humans stalking us…'

They continued on their way, Sukuna carried what was needed, but he also kept in mind Toji's body language. They took a break for lunch when Toji suddenly puffed himself up a little. This was his warning look.

Peering about, Sukuna took notice of one person. They sat within a ramen shop and this one woman who was in the corner, kept peering over her shoulder. Luckily, she didn't notice him keeping an eye on her. The divine mask hides his extra eyes, makes it easier to keep track of who is following who.

At the same time, Megumi was getting interested in the food on the table. Every time Toji brought noodles to his mouth, Megumi's mouth opened believing he was going to obtain those for himself. It made him smirk, Ryoto was like that too when he was smaller…

So, Sukuna took a clean pair of chopsticks and a single noodle from his bowl, he dangled it over Megumi whose eyes now sparkled at the sight. Slowly, he lowered it down only for Megumi to snag it and squish the noodle in his grasp. He still ate it when he turned it to paste.

"Your child likes food apparently…"

Toji peered over and smirked as Megumi now stared at Sukuna for another noodle.

It was as if he were feeding a baby bird, before long, Megumi would let him drop the end of the noodle into his mouth. He quickly learned the art of slurping from watching his father.

However, this merriment had to end. He sensed more gathering. "Toji…"

"Yeah, I just finished, let's bail."

They paid and left, but more and more of these humans were gathering. He could smell greed at this point and all eyes were focused on one thing.

Megumi.

They are after a baby dragon…

'How stupid have humans become?' he wondered to himself.

Toji was getting annoyed. "Here, hold him, I'll be back" Toji ordered as he passed Megumi off.

"You better not, your woman told us…"

"They are after my child!" he snapped back.

"Yeah, and you are about to confirm their suspicions. Stand down, Fushiguro" Sukuna ordered, besides, it was too late. They already gathered and there will he some trouble getting out. But first he had to hide the little Fushiguro.

Peering down, there was one option. 'I'm about to traumatize this boy again…'
