Planet: Tanalorr
Once Cal Kestis had already succumbed to the dark side to fight off Bode. Luckily, Merrin could have escaped the unpleasant scene with young Kata beforehand, Bode's daughter, by using her Nightsister's abilities. Bode showed signs of staggering in his attacks and the way he swayed in blocking, but the Mandalorian man kept coming at Cal relentlessly. The young Jedi only realized with a side glance that the bright yellow glue of his lightsaber had changed into the color of an orange-red hue as he parried Bode's next blow and their blades crossed in a sizzling sound. Cal had to struggle that the strength of it did not push him down to his knees with its seemingly inhuman pressure from above.
"Kestis…," Bode pressed out. "Shoud've stayed away.", just as Bode added even more pressure, which Cal could hardly hold against. "This ends now!" Bode sidestepped with a slight swing of his blade and retreated with only one hand on the handle of his lightsaber. The other hand went to the small pouch at the side of his belt.
Cal was free again and the momentum drove him forward. He landed with one knee on the ground. He shifted his main emphasis and tried to stand up by using one hand for the move. Something being thrown by Bode swirled through the air between them and landed with a heavy weight onto his chest and stuck there, although Cal had not straightened up, yet. It blinked in a rapid-flickering red light. A grenade , Cal thought in horror. Again. Instead of pushing himself from the ground, Cal kept his weight on his knee and used the hand that held his lightsaber to Force-push and distract Bode. B ut Cal's main attention was to grab and rip off the grenade with his other hand, to send it back flying to its owner with an additional thrust of the Force. It exploded before the landing, only an arm length away from Bode's side. It decided the fight to Cal's favor.
Cal exhaled slowly, but Bode's body did not start to move again.

Having arrived back in the Basalt Forrest, Merrin and Cal had finally achieved to reactivate the bacta tank, which had held prior to Jedi knight Dagan Gera, for the unconscious and heavily wounded Bode. Not much of Bode's right arm was left and most of his right cheek and neck was burnt. The couple worked nearly in silence, they only needed to exchange a factual stated phrase here and there to adjust the equipment for its re-start. Finally, the two of them safely connected the Mandalorian, immersed him into the liquid and monitored the settings for adjustments.
While l ooking at Bode's strong body, now wounded and encapsulated, Cal thought that it had been a good idea not to bring young Kata with them and that the girl had stayed with Greez on their ship, the Stinger Mantis.
They both looked at Bode floating in the cereal liquid. After a long silence, Merrin turned to Cal: "Why did you do this?"
"I couldn't kill him," he answered. Cal switched his gaze to the Nightsister beside him. "After all, he is Kata's father and I know what it feels like to have no one left around of the life one used to live. So I'll let fate and the Force decide how his thread of life will continue," he contemplated aloud.
Merrin nodded and turned around to leave. Cal took the two steps to the terminal, but halted his finger above the bottom for closing the security shields of the bacta tank. Once more he looked at the floating figure within the tank, Bode Akuna, his former friend and traitor to their cause.
"Trust only in the Force ," Cal murmured and repeated the last words of his own Master Jaro Tapal to Bode now. When the shields finished their leveling up and covered the tank completely, only then he started with slow steps to follow his Nightsister companion and did not halted once more. Stepping out of the room and before activating the automatic doors, he made a promise to himself: "It's time to honor you again, Master," he thought and already calculated how to include a travel route to the planet of Bracca into their schedule to re-visit his grave .
