Lobo (DCAU)

Diana yelled with the kind of rage that was born in a warrior's heart as she deflected a powerful energy blast with her bracers. Her anger grew exponentially with every alien that kept appearing out of thin air. This battle was taking entirely too long, interrupting plans that she'd had her heart set on. Instead of enjoying those plans, she found herself in a battle with an alien race bent on destroying their world.

When would these aliens ever learn the Justice League was not meant to be messed with?

She glanced at her teammate to find him holding his own as usual for the Dark Knight of Gotham. She smiled to herself as he threw a Batarang with expert precision, the deadly weapon embedding itself in one of the three eyes of the alien. It screamed out in excruciating pain, plucking the weapon out and tossing it aside as bright green goo oozed from its eye.

Unfortunately, instead of slowing it down, it only seemed to urge the being on.

Superman swooped in overhead, using his heat vision to finish the alien off. "We're going to need some backup if we can't slow these guys down."

Diana disagreed, feeling as though they were handling things quite well. Of course, she always loved a good fight. "I think we're gaining the upper hand," she told him, frowning when six more aliens suddenly took form before them.

"You were saying?" Batman ground out just before he delivered an uppercut that would've broken the teeth of a normal human being. Unfortunately, these things were anything but normal.

"I'm going to contact J'onn for backup," Superman said as he reached for his earpiece.

The deafening roar of an engine caused everyone to become frozen like statues as they turned to see who or what was the cause of the noise. "Damn," Batman growled angrily under his breath.

"Did you say something about needing backup?" Lobo asked with a wide grin, displaying a row of white teeth.

"Hera!" Diana exclaimed in utter exasperation at the bounty hunter's unexpected and unwanted appearance. "Not him again."

"Lobo?" Superman said with a confused expression as the large motorcycle landed in the middle of the street. "What are you doing here?"

"I thought you puny Justice Leaguers could use some help from a real hero," he retorted as he swung his leg over his cycle, his lecherous gaze falling on Diana. "Princess…looking as haughty and gorgeous as always."

"Go to Tartarus," she bit out, turning her back on him as another alien attempted to attack them.

"Rude," Lobo muttered, his grin only broadening. "I love that feisty spirit in you, Amazon."

"What are you doing here, Lobo?" Batman ground out between clenched teeth.

"I was in the vicinity…looking for a bounty and I saw you were having problems. I thought I'd lend a hand," he explained. "I was hoping you guys had finally come to your senses about me joining the League."

"It really isn't a good time to have this conversation," Superman stated as he delivered a bone-shattering punch to another alien.

"I think this is the perfect time," Lobo disagreed as he dropped his still-smoldering cigar on the ground, grinding it under the heel of his black boot.

He pulled out a double-barreled, sawed-off shotgun and began firing at the aliens at will. Batman growled under his breath, furious at this Neanderthal's appearance. He hadn't been wanted the last time he showed up after Superman had seemingly been killed and he wasn't wanted now.

He was brutish, infuriating, and absolutely not League material. His sense of moral justice was questionable at best, possessing no integrity whatsoever. The Bounty Hunter couldn't be trusted on a good day and even less on a bad. He needlessly took lives indiscriminately and violently.

Unfortunately, the escalating attack by the aliens didn't exactly lend itself at that moment to rid themselves of the Czarnian. It was going to have to wait. Whether they liked it or not, they had an uneasy alliance of sorts with Lobo.

The thought left a bad taste in Batman's throat as he released a handful of grenades with a menacing scowl, leaping out of the way as they exploded. He landed on the balls of his feet, crouching as he assessed the scene before them. As much as he hated to admit it, Lobo was helping in his own virulent way.

Superman was clearly unhappy with Lobo's assistance as well as he tried to position himself between the Bounty Hunter and the aliens. His attempts to keep him out of the fight only served to further anger Lobo who muscled his way in nonetheless, shoving his way in front of the Man of Steel.

Lobo cursed as an alien shot at him, hitting his bicep and causing a severe burn. Lobo grumbled as he glanced down at the wound, knowing it was already beginning to heal on its own. Still, he didn't appreciate being shot at and was determined to make them pay and pay dearly with their blood.

He charged directly at the large alien that had shot him, ripping the gun out of its three-clawed hand before crushing it with his bare hands. In a matter of seconds, Lobo had broken its neck, leaving it in a heap on the ground as green liquid oozed from its mouth.

Turning, Lobo spotted a large weapon aimed directly at the Amazon who was engaged with three aliens. He immediately raced towards her, barreling into her at full speed. He wrapped his arms around her, taking her to the ground. They rolled several times before coming to a stop with Lobo landing on top of her as the weapon fired over their heads.

"Get off me!" Diana yelled, glaring up at him.

Lobo just grinned wickedly at her, the tip of his tongue sneaking to drag along his lower lip in a perverse way that made Diana's skin crawl. "Not used to having a man on top of you, Amazon?" he taunted her.

"Why you piece of Cerberus dung!" Diana ground out through clenched teeth, raising her knee and hitting him between the legs.

At the same time, a Batarang unexpectedly hit him in the back of the head, causing him to leap off her with a growl of anger. "What was that for?" he demanded to know, angered by her knee shot and the crack to the back of his head.

"Don't touch her again," Batman rasped with a deadly edge to his voice.

"I just saved her life!" Lobo raged, bending over to catch his breath.

"She is more than capable of taking care of herself," Batman growled.

Lobo began to laugh something dark and otherworldly as he grinned at Batman, looking up at him through his eyelashes as he attempted to gather himself. "The Dark Knight and the Amazon, huh?" he taunted him. "Got a little crush, Bats? I think she'd do a lot better with me than you."

"In your dreams," Batman snarled as he released a bola, satisfied as it wrapped around an alien's neck.

"My dreams can be pretty…rough…if you know what I mean," Lobo jeered with a grin.

Batman ignored him, his eyes narrowing with rage. They had bigger trouble at that moment as the aliens attempted to regroup outside of their ship that had landed in the middle of a park. They had something up their sleeve and they were about to unleash it on them.

Diana studied them, anticipating their next move. She wished she could take a shower at that moment as she brushed herself off but knew it was out of the question. Furious, she turned her attention to the battle at hand, wanting to end this once and for all so they could rid themselves of Lobo.

"They're pulling out some sort of weapon!" Diana yelled as the bottom hatch of the alien ship opened.

Diana and Superman flew straight at the warship, knowing they needed to destroy that weapon before it could be used against them or hurt innocent bystanders. Diana flew in from one side while Superman took the other side. Aliens fired at them as the three of their comrades fired up the new weapon.

Diana blocked their laser fire with her bracers as Superman used his heat vision to melt their guns. Lobo decided to take the opportunity to be the great hero and prove his worth to the League by racing towards the alien spaceship.

Batman knew this weapon wasn't going to be firing any cannonballs, but something far more devasting. He had greatly feared what chaos Lobo's presence here could create, but now he was beginning to think that maybe he could be useful in defeating the aliens.

Then again…maybe not.

Wonder Woman and Superman attempted to draw the aliens away from their ship, leaving the weapon momentarily unmanned as they stepped up their assault. Lobo took the opening to race toward the weapon, but instead of destroying the weapon, he raced past it, disappearing inside the spaceship.

"What the hell is he doing?" Batman growled, deciding a new plan was in order.

Diana knew they didn't have time to figure out what Lobo was up to, fighting the overwhelming urge to follow him inside the ship. She knew that they needed to keep the aliens contained in this area. They didn't want them spreading throughout the city.

"Alien ships just landed in Chicago, New York, Dallas, and San Diego," J'onn notified them. "Sending teams now to intercept."

"This just keeps getting better and better," Batman growled with a curse.

Loud noises began escaping the inside of the spaceship, but the trio didn't have time to worry about it as the aliens doubled down on their efforts to dominate them. It felt like for every alien they took out another three of them appeared.

Smoke started pouring out of the ship from several cracks that had erupted around the hull. The alien aircraft shook and shuttered, causing everyone to freeze in their tracks. The aliens on the ground ran back inside their ship to help their comrades.

"I'm going in there," Superman announced, flying toward the ship.

Before Superman could reach the hatch, Lobo strutted down the ramp with an alien slung over his shoulder. He tossed him to the ground at Wonder Woman's feet. "All taken care of," Lobo stated with a grin, wiping some green goo from his chin with the back of his fist. "What else do you need me to do?"

Diana glared darkly at him as she folded her arms against her chest. "Leave," she snapped.

Lobo just laughed at her, stepping over the fallen alien to stand beside her. He wrapped his arm around her shoulders. "You don't mean that, Amazon."

"Pretty sure I do," she bit out, taking his arm and bending it up behind his back.

"Okay…okay," he angrily spouted as she released her hold on him, shoving him away from her. "I can still join the League."

"We appreciate the assistance, but you're not needed here," Superman informed him.

Batman came to stand beside Diana, his scowl matching the other two heroes. "The League is not taking any new applications. We'll notify you if we have an opening."

Lobo sneered at them, pulling out a cigar and lighting it up. "I can take a hint," he snarled. "You don't want me here because you know I'm better than all three of you combined."

"Why you arrogant son of a—" Diana spouted as she took a step towards him, Batman putting a calming hand on her shoulder to stop her. He wasn't worth it.

"I know you want me, Amazon, but it's for the best," Lobo told her. "I can do better than you."

Batman's hands clenched tightly to the point of turning white. He'd love nothing more than to tear the Czarnian limb from limb, but it was pointless to engage him and his oversized ego. "Don't you have a bounty to collect?"

"I was just leaving," Lobo confirmed as he stalked towards his waiting bike. He swung his leg over the seat, turning it on and revving the engine. "Till next time, losers."

"You know he'll be back," Superman warned them with a frown.

The three watched as Lobo flew off, leaving them alone again. "I'm already dreading the day that he returns," Diana said.

J'onn's voice came over their commlinks at that moment, delivering welcomed news. "All alien ships are retreating. The threat has been averted. Sending clean-up crews to all locations."

"Thank you, J'onn," Batman replied, glancing at the other two. "You know he did help end this."

"We would have been able to handle it without him," Diana icily stated.

"I know we could have," Superman agreed, touching his commlink. "All right, J'onn. I'm on my way. Duty calls."

"Bye, Kal," Diana said.

Superman took off to answer a distress call, leaving the pair alone. Batman turned to Diana. "Are you okay after being manhandled by Lobo?" he asked in all seriousness yet there was a hint of amusement in his voice.

Diana glared at him, her hands finding her hips. "He did not manhandle me," she corrected him. "I don't let anyone manhandle me unless I want him to."

Bruce watched as the corner of her lips curled ever so faintly. "Any man in particular?"

She tilted her head slightly, an impish smile touching her lips. "Well, there is this one man," she coyly revealed.

Batman took a step closer to her, careful to maintain an acceptable distance between them. One never knew who was watching them. "Oh really? Do I know this man?"

"Perhaps," she replied. "I guess you'll just have to find out once we resume our first date."

"I can hardly wait," he told her with a lopsided smirk.

"And if Lobo shows up, I'll break his neck with my bare hands," Diana said as she wrapped her arm around Batman's waist, taking off towards Wayne Manor.
