(Gwen's POV)
*It'd been a few weeks since our battle at the Aquarium. Today, me, Lan, & Maylu were leaving school & heading home. We skated to catch up with Dex*
Lan: Hey there, Dex. So, you up for a match later on?
Dex: Yeah. If you're up for losing. You gonna be there, Maylu?
Maylu: Sorry. Got a piano lesson.
*Suddenly, a boy with brown hair, peach skin, brown eyes & wearing a yellow & turquoise hoodie over a red t-shirt, dark green shorts, white socks, & brown sneakers came running towards us & bumped into Lan, knocking him to the ground*
Tory: Sorry!
Gwen: Lan, are you okay?
Lan: Yeah . . . *just then, he noticed a red & black card on the ground next to him. he picked it up as he stood up* Hey! You dropped something! Hey!
*But the boy didn't hear him as he turned the corner*
Dex: Finders keepers, dude.
Maylu: I think that was Tory from school.
Gwen: Tory?
Maylu: You know, his Dad works at the Water Treatment Plant. Water Works.
*Lan looked at the card on his hand*
Lan: This must be a Water Works access card.
*That night, I was helping Mom wash the dishes, when the water suddenly stopped. Mom tried to start it up again, but nothing came out*
Haruka: That's weird.
Gwen: I'll say.
*Suddenly, Lan ran towards us, his head covered in soap & wearing a towel*
Lan: Hey Mom! What's the big idea shutting off the water!? I was taking a shower.
Haruka: I never would've guessed. But I didn't do it, Lan. It just shut off.
Lan: Shut off?
*He sneezed*
*The next morning, me & Lan were skating through town, on our way to the store to pick up some water*
Lan: Weird. The water's off everywhere.
Gwen: Freaky.
*We made it to store to find a line that stretched all the way down multiple city blocks*
Lan: Man, we're never gonna get through this line.
Dex:*off-screen* Hey, guys!
*We turned around & saw Maylu & Dex coming towards us on their scooters*
Lan: What are you guys doing here?
Maylu: Not getting water like everyone else.
Gwen: What?
Dex: It's really bad. The whole city's out of water. And some people aren't takin' it so good.
*We snuck up to the front & looked in the window. We saw Maysa arguing with a store clerk*
Maysa: Why you lily-livered flounder fish! You make me wait in line for three hours and then you have the ghaul to tell me that you don't have any water left! Don't you know I have children to provide for!? *he took off his apron* Well, I mean, they're fish. B - But they're like children to me! *he started to put it back on as he was leaving* Sheesh! How'd you like it if I started charging you for air?
*We all sighed & shrugged*
*We then went over to Yai's house, where they still had water*
Yai: Hey you guys, you wanna go swimming?
Lan: I think I've figured out the solution to this water problem, guys.
Gwen, Maylu, & Dex: Really?
Lan: Yeah, everyone just has to get a millionaire Father.
*I rolled my eyes at that. Yai gave each of us a big jug of water*
Yai: Exactly. Daddy put a reserve tank in the basement that holds up to a year's worth of fresh water, don't you know.
Dex: Thanks for sharing some of it with us, Yai. Does your Father want to adopt me?
Maylu: Yeah, thanks Yai. But if they don't solve the problem soon, how will everyone else in town survive?
Lan: Hey, I have an idea. *he took out his P.E.T.* MegaMan, can you and Dawn check it out?
MegaMan: No can do, Lan. The security at a place as important as the Water Works is just way to heavy. We'd need a security license.
Gwen: Oh well. It was a good plan.
Yai: Guess what else my Daddy bought for me.
*She winked at us as her forehead shined*
*We went to the tree house*
Yai: A level 7 security license for Glide.
Dex: Seriously, adopt me.
*Glide appeared on the screen*
Glide: Miss Yai, I have just arrived at the Water Works Firewall. I shall be through momentarily.
Yai: Good job.
*He steamed through the net until he arrived at the Water Works. He then looked surprised by what he saw*
Glide: Something most unusual is going on here. The entire circuit board's frozen solid.
Gwen: Frozen solid?
*Suddenly, he screamed & disappeared from the screen*
Yai: Glide, this isn't funny! Come back!
Maylu: He sounded like he was in trouble.
Lan: We'd better get to the Water Works and fast!
Yai: You're right! *she sat down on the armchair* There's no time to waste! Quick! Sit down on the couch!
Gwen, Lan, Maylu, & Dex: Huh?
Yai: Now!
Dex: Well, it is a nice couch.
*We all sat down. Yai started pressing buttons on a remote control*
Yai: Gateway 3. Open up.
*Suddenly, a seatbelt appeared around her. Her chair then went upright, a hole opened up in the floor, & she went down it like a slide. Then seatbelts appeared on me, Lan, Maylu, & Dex. The next thing I knew, we were going down. Maylu held her skirt as we went down faster. We then stopped & slid to the side really fast. We then went up*
Dex: Man, my couch is boring.
*We were then in one of Yai's limos*
Yai: To the Water Works. And make it snappy.
Chauffeur: Snappy it is, Miss Yai.
*He pressed a button & rocket boosters started up at the back of the car. We all held on tight as we went through a tunnel really fast. We then came out of the ground & shot down the street*
Dex: Wow, Yai. Your furniture rocks.
*Lan & I took out our P. *
MegaMan: Security won't be anywhere near as strong if we Jack in from inside the Water Works.
Dawn: And hopefully we can fix this mess and save Glide.
*We soon arrived at the Water Works. Practically half the city was there too. To complain*
Water Works Staff: Please everyone remain calm. We're gonna do everything we can to fix the situation. Once we figure out what the situation is.
*We snuck past the crowd & got in an elevator*
Dex: We're going to the basement?
Maylu: The storage tanks and the computers that control them are down there. I saw them on a field trip last year.
*The elevator stopped & we got out. We all screamed when we saw a robot in front of us*
Yai: It's a Security Droid!
Maylu: We can't fight it! So, what do we do!?
Dex: We run!
*I noticed something strange about the robot*
Gwen: Hold on a second.
*Lan & I looked at each other & nodded. we both slowly approached it*
Dex: Are you crazy!? I can't watch.
*Lan & I waved our hand on front of the robot, but it didn't move*
Lan: It isn't even working. Maybe 'cause the Central Computer is down.
Gwen: But you can still run if you want to, Dex.
*Dex came up to the robot*
Dex: This is for scaring us, rust-bucket!
*He hit the robot in the head. Suddenly, red lights lit up on the sides of it's head*
Gwen, Lan, Maylu, & Yai: AW! GREAT MOVE!
*We all ran as the robot started chasing us. Dex had somehow gotten in it's back. Suddenly, the robot grabbed Lan & picked him up*
Gwen: Lan!
Lan: Hey! Let me go! Let me go I said!
*Suddenly, the robot stopped & Lan was sent flying. He rolled down the hallway until he hit a door. I ran up to him*
Gwen: Lan! Are you okay?
*He looked a little dizzy*
Lan: Uh . . . Y - Yeah. I'm okay.
*The reason the robot stopped was because Dex had plugged his P.E.T into the robot*
Dex: Awesome job, GutsMan!
GutsMan:*off-screen* Guts, guts.
*I helped Lan stand up. Then we noticed a plug-in terminal on the wall next to the door. We both took out our P. *
Lan: Jack in! MegaMan! Power up!
Gwen: Jack in! Dawn! Power up!
(Dawn's POV)
*We both streamed through the network until we made it to the circuit board. Everything really was frozen solid*
MegaMan: Creepy.
Dawn: Really creepy.
*I stayed close to my brother as we walked. Suddenly, we found a really tall ice stalagmite*
MegaMan: What is this?
*We took a closer look & gasped when we saw a familiar face in the ice*
Dawn: Oh my goodness! Glide!
MegaMan: This is not good, Lan. It looks like Antarctica in here.
Dawn: Someone has frozen everything. That's why all the water has stopped*
(Third-Person POV)
*Meanwhile, in the security office, Maddie saw Dawn & MegaMan on one of the monitors*
Maddie: Don't tell me it's Dawn and MegaMan.
*Tory looked up in surprise*
(Dawn's POV)
Dawn: Don't worry, Glide. We'll find who did this and stop them.
*Suddenly, my brother grabbed me to avoid a blast of snow & ice. When we landed, we saw a tiny NetNavi with pale skin, red cheeks, brown eyes & wearing a turquoise parka, brown mittens, & boots*
MegaMan: You're the one behind all this?
Dawn: But why are you doing this?
IceMan: Chill out.
*He slammed his hand on the ground & more stalagmites came towards us. MegaMan melted the ice with his blaster. I then jumped up in the air*
Dawn: Angel Feather Barrage!
*I sent a flurry of feathers towards the NetNavi. They knocked him back as he was about to attack us with a Cyber Sword. He hit one of the stalagmites & looked dizzy*
MegaMan: That's enough. Now unfreeze everything.
IceMan: Huh?
Dawn: Please? The people of the city need their water.
WakoMan:*off-screen* Oh, Dawn! MegaMan!
*We both looked to the left & saw WakoMan standing next to Glide*
MegaMan: WakoMan!
Dawn: So, you're the one who's doing this!
*WakoMan bowed*
WakoMan: I have a little proposition. Keep talking and I'll delete your friend. *he laughed seeing us conflicted* IceMan!
*IceMan stood up & blew a blizzard at us. I could feel my body beginning to freeze*
(Gwen's POV)
*The screen on my & Lan's P.E.T. had static on it*
Lan: MegaMan! MegaMan!
Gwen: Dawn! Please answer me!
*Still no response*
Lan: W - What if they get . . . Deleted . . . *he & I tried to download a Battle Chip, but nothing was happening* It's not working!
Gwen: We can't even get these Battle Chips to download!
Maylu: Do you think that MegaMan and Dawn have been frozen or something like that?
Lan: MegaMan, come on. Wake up already! Answer us!
Gwen: Dawn, please say something!
Dex: Don't worry, guys. I'll take care of it. Alright GutsMan. I'm sending ya in.
GutsMan:*off-screen* Leave it to me.
*He unplugged his P.E.T. Suddenly, the robot came back to life & started chasing us again*
Dex: Ah! No!
Gwen, Lan, Maylu, & Yai: Dex!
(Third-Person POV)
*From the security office, Maddie saw Dawn & MegaMan incased in ice*
Maddie: How can you and your sister be so cold to me, MegaMan? *she laughed* Or should I say, Mega - icle *she noticed Tory looking sad* Oh, what's wrong? Are you worried about your little frozen friends?
*She put her hand on his head, but he slapped it away & glared at her. Maddie laughed again*
(Dawn's POV)
*We could hear WakoMan laughing outside the ice. IceMan looked guilty*
WakoMan: I scream, you scream, we all scream for iced Dawn and MegaMan!
Dawn: Gwen. Please hurry. We need you and Lan.
(Gwen's POV)
*We were all still running from the robot. Just then, Lan saw a bunch of metal rods tilted against the wall*
Lan: Of course! *he ran ahead of us & stopped at the metal rods* Hurry up! *Once we were all past him, Lan kicked the rods to the floor, blocking the robot's path. he then made funny faces & slapped his butt at the robot* Come on! Come and get me!
Gwen: Lan! Don't tease the scary robot!
*But it was too late. The robot looked angry & kicked the rods out of it's way as it came towards us*
Lan: Uh oh!
*We started running*
Gwen: I told you not to tease it!
Lan: I couldn't help myself!
*We turned a corner & saw our friends trying to open a door*
Dex: It's no use! The door's locked!
Maylu: Lan, where's that card key?
*We screeched to a halt in front of them*
Lan: The card key?
Gwen: The one Tory dropped, remember?
Lan: Right. Got it. *he took it out & swiped it in a slot. we heard a beep* It worked!
*Just then, the robot appeared behind us*
Dex: It's here!
*We screamed & ran inside the open door. We then closed it behind us & Lan locked it with the card key. Just then, we all heard a crashing sound. The robot was trying to knock down the door. Soon, it stopped. We all sat down to catch our breath*
?:*off-screen* Who's there!?
*Dex & Yai stood up*
Dex: Who's there?
?:*off-screen* I'm Dr. Froid. I'm the Chief Engineer.
Gwen: Dr. Froid?
Maylu: No way! Hey, do you happen to know a kid named Tory? *a tied-up man with tan hair, peach skin, black eyes & wearing a navy blue jacket over a light blue collared shirt, dark blue pants, & black shoes stepped out of the shadows* You're tied-up.
Dr. Froid: Of course I know him, I'm his Father. And he's in big trouble. We have to help him. *we all looked surprised* Could you untie me now?
Gwen: Right. Sorry.
*We all untied Dr. Froid. Once we left the basement, Dr. Froid put his own card key into the Security Droid*
Dr. Froid: Okay. This guy won't bother you now that you're registered.
Dex: Thanks. We'd be toast without your help.
Dr. Froid: Too bad I couldn't help my son. I refused to do what World Three wanted, so they tied me up and forced Tory to use IceMan to freeze the water supply. This is all my fault. If it weren't for me, Tory wouldn't be in danger.
*I thought back to yesterday when Tory bumped into Lan*
(Flashback)
*Tory bumped into Lan, knocking him to the ground*
Tory: Sorry!
Gwen: Lan, are you okay?
Lan: Yeah . . .
(Present Time)
Maylu: Come on! We have to help him save Tory from the evil clutches of World Three!
*Suddenly, we heard a beeping sound. Dr. Froid looked at his wristwatch*
Yai: What is it now?
Dr. Froid: It's even more bad news I'm sad to say. It's been 24 hours since the system shut down. Which means the bacteria are starting to die.
Dex: Bacteria?
Yai: Don't you ever pay attention in class? The Plant uses bacteria to purify the water.
Dex: I kinda knew that.
Maylu: The Plant uses good bacteria to eat the bad bacteria in the water.
Gwen: It gets rid of the bad stuff that makes us sick.
Dr. Froid: If the bacteria die, we'll have to shut down the Plant for weeks. And the city won't have any way of getting water at all.
Lan: Just tell us what to do.
Dr. Froid: I have an idea, but I need your help. We have to get water into the tanks.
Dex: Should have brought my swim-trunks.
Yai: Dex!
Gwen:*to Maylu* We'll help him. You and Yai look for Tory.
*Me, Lan, Dex, & Dr. Froid headed down to the basement. We came up to a chained up wheel*
Dr. Froid: This is it. We just have to loosen it up.
*He took out a crowbar & started hitting the chains*
Lan: What is this?
Dr. Froid: It's the old manual release valve. It was closed off when the new system was built, but we should still be able to use it! *with on more hot, the chains broke & fell to the floor. he then grabbed the wheel* Let's go!
Gwen, Lan, & Dex: On it!
*Me, Lan, & Dex grabbed the wheel & started pulling. Soon, it began to turn. Once it was open, we let go*
Dr. Froid: Good job. But we still have other valves to open.
*We nodded & headed to the next one*
(Dawn's POV)
*MegaMan & I watched helplessly as IceMan battled WakoMan, who had created copies of himself*
WakoMan: Try your luck! Everyone one's a winner!
*IceMan hit the ground & ice came out of the ground, hitting all the copies, but no real WakoMan. We could still hear him laughing*
MegaMan: Hey! Look out!
*WakoMan's ball was towards IceMan. It hit him & WakoMan jumped out of the ground*
Dawn: WakoMan, please no!
WakoMan: Yes!
(Gwen's POV)
*We soon got to the last valve. By the time Dr. Froid got the chains off, his right hand was blistered. I wrapped my handkerchief around his hand*
Dr. Froid: Thank you.
Gwen: You're welcome.
Dr. Froid: This is the last one, guys.
*We nodded. Then we started pushing & pulling on the valve*
Dex: This one is isn't even budging a tiny bit!
Lan: I think it's completely rusted shut!
Gwen: We have to keep trying!
*We just kept going. Then, with one more push, the valve started slowly turning*
Lan: I don't think this'll ever move!
Gwen: Keep pulling!
*Suddenly, the valve started turning all the way, making me & Lan let go & fall to the floor. Dex & Dr. Froid turned the valve until we all felt rumbling. Then we heard rushing water*
Dex: Please tell me I'm not imagining that.
*Lan & I looked at Dex & we smiled. We then looked at Dr. Froid, who smiled & nodded*
Dr. Froid: We did it, kids.
(Dawn's POV)
*We all felt rumbling*
WakoMan: What? What is that!? Oh no! It couldn't be! *IceMan sat up & set yellow beam at us* Oh no!
*He was about to charge at IceMan, but MegaMan & I stood in front of him*
MegaMan: Nice try, WakoMan.
Dawn: You will not lay a hand on him.
*WakoMan stopped*
WakoMan: You're not frozen! *all the ice on the circuit board started to disappear* You think you've won!? Guess again! *he summoned copies of himself that were different colors. one shot out fire. I grabbed IceMan as we dodged it. The other sent out water. we jumped again to dodge* Hey! Quit that!
*When we stopped, I put IceMan down. He was so dizzy from all the jumping, he fell on his back*
Lan:*off-screen* MegaMan! You're back!
Gwen:*off-screen* Dawn, you're okay!
Lan:*off-screen* Blaster! Battle Chip in! Download!
*MegaMan's helmet lit up & my wings fluttered*
MegaMan: Yeah, good choice guys.
Dawn: Let's do this.
*His arm turned into his buster. He shot at the copies, deleting them*
WakoMan: Uh oh!
MegaMan: Time to finish him!
Dawn: Right! Gwen, it's our turn.
Gwen:*off-screen* Right. Angel Arrow Battle, Chip in! Download!
*My bow appeared in my hand & I jumped up high in the air. I then pulled the string back & an arrow appeared*
Dawn: Angel Arrow!
*I shot my arrow at WakoMan & it hit his ball. The ball then exploded & WakoMan was sent flying*
WakoMan: I'll be back!
Wackoman Logging Out!
*MegaMan & I then saw IceMan laying on the ground*
MegaMan: IceMan!
Dawn: Are you alright?
IceMan: I am now.
*He smiled & then logged out*
IceMan Logging Out!
(Third-Person POV)
*Tory had unplugged his P.E.T.*
Tory: Thanks Dawn and MegaMan. I owe you one.
(Gwen's POV)
*We made our way to the Security Office, where we found Tory, Maylu, & Yai*
Dr. Froid: Tory.
Tory: Dad!
*He looked down as if in shame. Dr. Froid put his hand on his son's head*
Dr. Froid: It's okay, Tory. You did what you had to do.
*As he took his hand off, my handkerchief fell off*
Tory: You're hurt.
Dr. Froid: You're worth it, Tory.
*He smiled at Tory. Tory then started crying & hugged his Dad*
Tory: I - I'm sorry! I didn't want to do it, but they had you captured and -
Dr. Froid: Hey, it's not your fault, Tory. It's not your fault.
Maylu: He's right. You're not to blame.
Lan: Yeah. Point the finger at World Three, not yourself.
Yai: Someday, those guys are gonna pay.
Dex: Hey listen, are we finally gonna get something to eat or what!? *I stepped on his foot* OW!
*We all met up with Tory outside*
Tory: Thanks you guys.
(Dawn's POV)
*Later, me, MegaMan, Roll, Glide, & GutsMan met up with IceMan, who had fully recovered*
MegaMan: Frome now on, you're on our side. If that's okay with you, I mean.
*He & IceMan shook hands*
IceMan: It's more than okay with me. I owe you guys a million.
*I just smiled. Happy to have a new friend*
(Gwen's POV)
*The next day, me, Lan, & Maylu were on our way to school. We were passing by the fountain when Tory ran up to us*
Tory: What's up, guys?
Lan: Hey, Tory.
Gwen: Good morning.
Maylu: How you doing?
Tory: You guys wanna come play at the Water Works later?
Gwen, Lan, & Maylu: Uh uh!
Note: I want to focus on my other stories, so I'm taking a break from this story for a while
