(Gwen's POV)
*It's been a few weeks since we met Tori & saved the Water Works. Today, we were rushing to Higsby's chip store to reserve a new video game that was coming out tomorrow. But when we got there, there was already a really long line*
Mr. Higsby: All right, stay calm! There's plenty for everyone! Stay calm!
Kid: Dude, we're just standing here.
Mr. Higsby: You kids stop shouting at me!
Lan: Oh, man. It's gonna take us hours to get through that line. I told you guys we should've gotten here earlier.
Gwen: Well, somebody had to stop for another breakfast.
Lan: It's the most important meal of the day. And a second breakfast is the second most important.
*Just then, Maysa came up to us on his bike*
Maysa: What in tarnation is going on here? Calcium break come early this year?
Dawn:*off-screen* No. We're here to reserve a new video game.
Maysa: A video game?
Maylu: It's the first day that copies of Maximum Valor are available in advance.
Maysa: A whale in a bowl advance?
MegaMan:*off-screen* I've never played that game.
Gwen: Available in advance. We're reserving our copies of the game.
Dex: Otherwise you have to push to get them off the shelf! And some kids Grandma's push hard.
Lan: They'll push even harder for this on too. It has a cutting edge rendering engine that's capable of generating over 100 million polygons a second.
Maysa: Be quiet! I got about two words of that! But indo get that you kids shouldn't be standing in line for a game that doesn't even exist yet! I'm going to shut this thing down right now!
*He ran towards the front of the line*
Lan: No! Maysa, don't!
Maysa: Stop this right now! *he grabbed Higsby by his shirt collar* Kids should be playing and getting their calcium, not standing in line-up!
Mr. Higsby: Didn't you hear my stay calm speech?
Maysa: Hey, I'll get calm when you get gone. You ever see a fish -
Ms. Mari: Hey, no cutting in line. *Maysa turned to her & blushed* You outta be ashamed of yourself.
Mr. Higsby: Little trouble breathing here . . .
*Maysa gave him another glare before pushing him away*
Ms. Mari: If you want the kids to behave, you have to set a good example, right?
Maysa: Oh . . . Well, I . . .
Mr. Higsby: I gotta say, she has a point.
Maysa: Hey! You're one to talk, keeping all these kids from exercising!
Maylu: This is better than a movie. Do you think they're arguing over Ms. Mari?
Gwen: Maybe.
Dex: The fish guy verses the computer geek.
Lan: It'll be a heated battle of fish and chips.
Dawn:*off-screen* Um, guy? *we looked at my P.E.T.* Don't you think you should be getting in line now?
*We turned around & saw that the line had grown while we were distracted*
Lan: No way! This thing must be twice as long now!
*I stepped up to the line*
Gwen: Excuse me, but we were waiting right here.
*Maysa stopped us*
Maysa: You heard Ms. Mari, no cutting in line!
Lan, Gwen, Maylu, & Dex: But it's your fault we got out of line!
Maysa: Yeah we'll, still there's no cutting. *he turned to Ms. Mari, blushing* Isn't that right?
She just smiled. We all cringed & ran to get to the end of the line. But when we got there, Higsby stopped us with a "Sold Out" sign*
Mr. Higsby: Stop! Sorry, kids. End of the line. No more game coupons left.
*We all groaned & fell to the ground*
Lan, Gwen, Maylu, & Dex: Now we'll never get it!
*Just then, a familiar pink limousine pulled up. One of the back windows rolled down & Yai poked her head out*
Yai: Hey, why are you guys waiting in line to reserve that game?
*We ran up to the limo*
Lan, Gwen, Maylu, & Dex: Right, your Dad owns the company!
Yai: Boy, are you guys swift. Are you just figuring that out right now?
Lan, Gwen, Maylu, & Dex: Sorta . . .
Yai: Look, why don't you guys come over to my house and you can play the game before it's even released to the public. Now, do you need me to explain that again.
Lan: I take back everything bad I ever said about you, Yai *I elbowed him* OW!
Yai: On second thought, only three of you get to play.
*That night, we (including Lan) were at Yai's house, enjoying a really fancy dinner. Yai was sitting with her Father (who had dark blonde hair, peach skin, brown eyes, a dark blonde mustache, & was wearing a purple suit over a white shirt & a red tie) sat at one end of the long table & the four of us at the other end with a string orchestra playing in-between us. Lan & Dex were stuffing their faces with food*
Lan: Man, this food almost looks too good to eat!
Dex:*mouth full* I'd totally agree, except that I don't!
Lan:*mouth* How awesome it must be *he took another bite* to eat this every day.
MegaMan:*off-screen* Wow, Lan. Maybe we should get you a trough.
Lan:*mouth* I just like the food, I'm not acting like a pig.
MegaMan:*off-screen* The two of you are acting more like six pigs.
Mr. Ayano: This is the first time Yai's had friends over. You might not know it, but she's rather shy.
Maylu: What!?
Mr. Ayano: I said you might not know it, but Yai is shy!
Gwen: Yeah well, you'd never guess.
Mr. Ayano: Yep. That's my little Yai-ster.
Yai: Dad, don't call me that.
Mr. Ayano: I'm sorry, Muffin.
Yai: Hmph.
Mr. Ayano: So, I understand you guys had some trouble reserving Maximum Valor today.
Lan: Yeah, if by trouble you mean we didn't.
Dex: Man, I haven't wanted a game so bad since the last time I wanted one.
Maylu: Yeah. Yai said you might be able to help us.
Gwen: Can you, Mr. Ayano?
Yai: If it's being released tomorrow, couldn't you let us play it tonight, Dad?
Mr. Ayano: Well, I suppose I could. It's just . . .
Yai: Ah, come on, Dad. Pretty please?
Mr. Ayano: Oh, okay Yai. You know I can't say no to Daddy's Little Girl.
Yai: Thanks! You're the best Dad ever!
*She gave us a thumbs up*
*After dinner, Mr. Ayano took us to a room full of computers*
Lan: Somebody pinch me. This video game room is amazing. I must be dreaming.
Gwen: Then I'm having the same dream.
Mr. Ayano: All the data for the game is stored right here. You'll get to play with it before we send it out to all the stores.
Maylu: You mean it all goes out from here.
Mr. Ayano: That's right. You'll the last people to see it before it leaves here. It's the first time someone other than security will send off a game.
Lan: Why all the security? Do they just like to play video games or something?
Mr. Ayano: No, it's in case someone tries to steal it. Although, there's little chance of that. The mansion has Level 9 security. And the storage banks for the game are even safer. They're at Security Level 10.
Yai: That means that any intruder is caught immediately.
Lan & Dex: Yeah, we kinda knew that.
*Maylu looked confused. I smirked, knowing they were thinking about the time they snuck on to Yai's yard. Yai turned to her Dad*
Yai: When can we start playing? And remember that you're the bestest Dad that there's ever been.
Mr. Ayano: Well, not today. Tomorrow's the release date after all.
Yai: You said we could! You're about to become the worstest Dad you know!
Mr. Ayano: Calm down. You can play tonight, just not until midnight.
Lan, Gwen, Maylu, & Dex: Midnight!? Cool!
*Later, we were all in the treehouse, it was 10:45, & most of us were still awake, given that we were too excited to sleep*
Lan: Man, this is exciting!
Gwen: I know! Just a little bit longer and we'll be the very first kids in the world to play Maximum Valor! This is awesome!
Maylu: I don't know who could stand this excitement! *just then, we heard snoring. we turned to the left & saw Dex asleep on the couch* Well, there you go.
Yai: Maybe we should just set the alarm and get a little sleep.
Lan: Are you kidding!? I couldn't sleep!
Maylu: And what if we slept through the alarm or something?
Gwen: Don't even joke about that!
*2 hours later, the clock was almost at midnight*
Maylu: I can't believe it! Only 10 seconds to go!
Yai: Yay!
Lan: It's the happiest day of my life!
Lan, Gwen, Maylu, & Yai: 6! 5! 4! 3! 2! 1!
*Suddenly, instead of the game, all we got was static on the screen*
Gwen: Huh?
Lan: Please tell me I'm not seeing what I'm seeing!
Maylu: What's going on Yai? Did the video game overload the system or something?
Gwen: Come on Yai! You gotta fix this! Do something! Anything!
Yai: That's so weird. The whole system was just checked out yesterday.
*Suddenly, the lights went out*
Maylu: Oh no.
MegaMan:*off-screen* Lan!
Dawn:*off-screen* Gwen! Someone's broken into the main computer!
Gwen: They what!?
*Just then, a guy with headphones appeared on the screen*
Count Zap: We interrupt your regularly scheduled video game *he laughed* World Three has crashed your security system and now, to steal what we came for, the smiles of all the children!
*He laughed again*
Gwen: The children's smiles? Wait, you're stealing Maximum Valor!?
Count Zap: You two guessed it! I want to see those children crying!
*He laughed*
Lan: You overlooked one thing, how important this game is to us kids! You're in for a real battle!
Count Zap: HA! Go ahead if you wanna feel useless! And now it's showtime!
*He started playing his guitar really loud. Just then, a device in Dex's back pants pocket short circuited & the seat of his pants caught fire*
Yai: UGH! Turn that horrible sound off!
Dex: Hot! Hot! Hot!
Maylu: Lan, Gwen, get the fire extinguisher!
Lan: I don't know where one is!
*Suddenly, a glass wall came down between us & Maylu, Yai, & Dex*
Gwen: What is this!? Let us out!
Yai: It's okay! It's to keep the fire contained! *Maylu put out the fire on Dex's butt with a pillow* The game! World Three has made it past the final security barrier!
Maylu: We have to get in there and stop them from deleting the game's data!
Yai: But the only way to do that is to Jack into the main computer system and we can't do that from here! Ah! Wait.
Maylu: Right. The monitors were hooked up so we could play the game. Maybe we can get in that way.
*Lan & I stepped up to the screen*
Lan: We're on it guys. Don't worry.
Gwen: Yeah. We'll get in there and stop them.
*We took out our P.E.T.s*
Lan: It's up to you, Dawn and MegaMan. Let's go! Jack in! MegaMan! Power up!
Gwen: Jack in! Dawn! Power up!
(Dawn's POV)
*MegaMan & I streamed through the net until we got to the main computer system. But when we did, we saw all the data being taken out of the data vault*
Dawn: Oh no!
ElecMan:*off-screen* Oh yes. You're already too late. *we turned around & saw him floating down to us**on-screen* Almost all of the data has be transferred to World Three by now.
Lan:*off-screen* MegaMan, you and Dawn have to stop em before the data's all gone.
MegaMan: We're on it.
ElecMan: The thing is, you can't stop anything if you're deleted.
*He sent a bolt of electricity from the surges on his back at us*
Lan & Gwen:*off-screen* Barrier! Battle Chip in! Download!
*Two barriers protected both of us from the electricity. But the force sent us back a bit*
ElecMan: Is that it? You'll never beat me if you just hide behind your shields.
Len:*off-screen* Then how about this? Area Steal! Battle Chip in! Download!
*My brother went towards ElecMan so fast I could barley see him. His hand then turned into a Cyber Sword & he sliced ElecMan in half*
Dawn: You did it!
Lan:*off-screen* Go MegaMan!
Count Zap:*off-screen* I'm not done yet! Lightning! Battle Chip in! Download!
*Suddenly, a bolt of lightning came down from the sky & hit ElecMan*
MegaMan: What's that?
Dawn: I don't know. But it doesn't look good.
*ElecMan then regenerated from the lightning*
ElecMan: You can't win. Lightning!
*He zapped both of us & we fell to the ground*
Lan:*off-screen* MegaMan, no!
Gwen:*off-screen* Dawn!
(Third-Person POV)
Count Zap: This is better than I could have hoped. Not only do I get to steal the video game, I get to eliminate that pesky Dawn and MegaMan once and for all!
*He laughed*
(Dawn's POV)
*I got up & jumped into the air*
Dawn: Angel Feather Barrage!
*I sent a rain of feathers down on ElecMan, but he dodged some of them. Only a few of them hit him, causing damage. But the lightning bolt hit him & he was regenerated again*
ElecMan: Nice try. But let me show you how it's done.
*He zapped us again & we fell back*
(Gwen's POV)
Lan: MegaMan!
Gwen: No, Dawn!
*Count Zap appeared on the screen*
Count Zap: Might as well say goodbye before it's too late.
Yai: What's your damage anyway? What do you want with a kid's computer game, buddy?
Count Zap: I just want to not to have it. It's World Three's job to spread chaos and fear.*we all looked confused* And this is the best plan that I've come up with yet. Just imagine, children world wide miserable and their parents powerless to help!
*He laughed*
Lan: Too bad you've already lost.
Count Zap: Huh? What?
Gwen: When the kids learn about what you've done, they won't be upset anymore, they'll be angry! Then they'll come after you and all of World Three! Just like we are! It's over! You're done!
Dawn: You tell him, Gwen!
Lan: Say goodbye! And say hello to Blaster! Battle Chip in! Download!
Count Zap: I've had enough of this! ElecMan, delete Dawn and MegaMan now!
(Dawn's POV)
*My brothers arm turned into a blaster as ElecMan began to do Electric Blaze. My brother's blasts hit the blaze, destroying both of them. He then tried to attack with Cyber Sword, but ElecMan grabbed it. He was then hit with another lightning bolt*
?:*off-screen* I've had enough of you, ElecMan!
*Just then, multiple wooded spikes came out of the ground & blocked the lightning bolt*
Count Zap:*off-screen* That wood's blocking the juice!
*Then a brown male NetNavi with a body made of wood fell from the sky & landed next to me & MegaMan*
WoodMan: Without energy, ElecMan is no longer unbeatable!
MegaMan: Who are you?
ElecMan: WoodMan!
*He tried to zap WoodMan with electricity, but it didn't effect him*
WoodMan: I'll keep him busy while you two attack him!
MegaMan: Lan, give me a Battle Chip that'll defeat this guy!
Lan:*off-screen* I wish I could, but I don't have anything that'll work against his electrical powers!
Dawn: Yes you do, Lan! Fight electricity with electricity!
Gwen:*off-screen* That's right! You're Electro Sword!
Lan:*off-screen* Of course! Electro Sword! Battle Chip in! Download!
*My brother's arm turned into his Electro Sword*
ElecMan: An Electro Sword! Bring it on! *he sent a bolt of electricity at MegaMan as he charged at him, but he blocked it with his Electro Sword* It's impossible! *my brother then jumped up into the air & hit him in the chest with the sword* You've won. But I'll be back.
Elecman! Logging Out!
*He disappeared*
(Gwen's POV)
Gwen: Awesome job, guys!
Lan: We stopped them cold! We rock!
(Dawn's POV)
Dawn: Thank you so much for helping us, WoodMan.
WoodMan: I'm just glad that I could help. But really, you two did all the hard work. Until we meet again.
*He started to disappear*
WoodMan! Logging Out!
*Just then, a flow of data began to flow back into the vault*
MegaMan: Hey. The video game data is going back where it belongs.
Dawn: Wonderful!
(Gwen's POV)
*Later, we met the NetOp of WoodMan. It was a woman wearing a black hood & a black cape over some very familiar clothes*
Lan: So . . . Thanks.
*She started to leave*
Yai: I guess that means you're welcome.
Lan: Hey, wait! *she stopped & turned back to us* Just what are we thanking anyway?
Gwen:*in her mind* It's Sal.
Black Rose (Sal): I'm Black Rose.
*She left*
Yai: Ooh, how mysterious.
Dex: Wow! She's so cool!
Maylu: Wonder who she really is.
Lan: I don't know. But I feel like I've met her before.
Gwen:*in her mind* That's because we have, bro. But I'll let him figure that out.
*The next morning, there was another long line outside of Higsby's store*
Mr. Higsby: There's plenty for everyone! So get into two lines and just stay calm already okay!
Lan: The line's even longer then it was yesterday!
Maylu: But I guess that's good news for you, huh Mr. Ayano.
Mr. Ayano: The best news is that I still have a game to put smiles on kids faces Thanks to you.
Dex: Aw, it was no big deal.
Yai: Yeah, not for you. You just sat in a bucket of ice.
*We laughed*
Lan: So, do you think we could go back to your house now and finally play the game like you promised we could?
Gwen, Maylu, & Dex: Yeah, you did promise.
*Maysa pulled up on his bike*
Maysa: Hey! Are you kids lining up for another video game instead of playing and exercising?
Gwen: Duh. Isn't that why you're here?
Maysa: Are you kidding? *he held up his apron* Long ago, I vowed by all things fishy, that as long as this salmon is pink, I won't get involved in video games or love.
*Hearing that, Lan & I decided to mess with him a little*
Lan: Oh yeah, well then I guess you're not here to talk to Ms. Mari either.
Gwen: Yeah, since she's talking to Mr. Higsby right now.
Maysa: That is absolutely right! I'm not here to - What is she doing!? *he zoomed up to the front of the line on his bike & pounced on Higsby* What's the big idea, fish stick! Who do you think you are, bothering Ms. Mari with your chip chatter!
Mr. Higsby: But she's not here! And some people enjoy my chatter!
Maysa: I don't care if she isn't here - she's not? *he looked behind & just saw the kids giving him weird looks. he then picked up his bike & started chasing after me & Lan in a circle* That wasn't funny! Come back here and I'm gonna teach you a lesson about teasing your elders, you little tadpoles!
Gwen: Sorry, it was too good an opportunity to pass up!
Lan: But hey, at least we're playing and getting exercise like you wanted!
Mr. Higsby: Boy, glad to be rid of that guy. Hey, that reminds me. I almost forgot to tell ya. The nationwide Net Battle tournament, the N1 Grand Prix, beings in two weeks. *he put up a sign* Come watch your favorite Net Battlers and NetNavis go head to head in competition matches. Stay calm!
