The rest of the week went by pretty fast and the next thing I know we are leaving Maine, and leaving home. "Sad" would be an understatement for how I feel but "depressed" feels just right, and that's exactly how I felt, I felt as if I were walking out of my life and stepping into a shell of a life, but also I felt happy that I got to start over in this new place, as Beckett and not 'Beca'.

"Beck, wake up." my dad said as he shook me awake. We had driven the U-Haul truck to the new house and had pulled into the driveway. "I'm up, I'm up," I said, sleep still evident in my voice and face. It was around nine in the morning and we had been driving all night, and now we had to unload the truck.

My dad unlocked the house door and started unloading the truck, as did I. When I came back outside I saw a quick flash of what seemed to be red, but when I looked around all I saw was green, because it's the middle of summer at nine in the morning, if that makes sense.

I got another box out of the truck and when I turned around a girl about my age said, "hi!" "ahhhh!" I screamed dropping the box, "oops." the girl said.

"What are you doing!?" I asked kinda scared, but I'd never admit it if you asked. "Oh, well my name is Chloe and I live across the street," the redhead girl said, pointing to her house. "And you are?" she asked, "Right, I'm, Bec-" I paused, realizing this is the first time I'm introducing myself to someone who doesn't know my past.

"Beckett," I said shaking her offered hand, "nice to meet you, bec Beckett," Chloe said making me chuckle. "I didn't mean to scare you earlier, by the way, it just kinda happened." she said "yeah, no it's good." I said picking up the box of things.

"I'll catch you later when you're not too busy." Chloe said walking away "oh, alright," I said. When she left I took the box in the house, "who's your little friend over there?" my dad asked, "oh, you seen that?" I asked, slightly embarrassed, and he nodded, "that is Chloe, our neighbor from across the street and she is pretty cool." I said. "Oh," my dad said in a knowing way.

After we finished unloading the truck we built the furniture and put them in their respective places. "Hey, Beckett will you help me put the food away?" my dad asked when he got back from the store, "yeah, hold on," I said putting up the last picture frame, it showed me, Luke, my mom, and his mom and dad from when we went to the state fair together.

We were almost done putting the food away when the doorbell rang, "go, see who it is." my dad said, "k." I put down a bottle of water and walked to the door.

When I got to the door I was surprised to see that it was Chloe. "Oh, hey," I said opening the door "what's up?" I asked, "my mom made you fine gentlemen some lasagna." she held up the pan, "oh, sweet." I opened the door wider so she could come in.

"Hey, Beck who was at the door?" my dad asked still halfway in the fridge putting stuff away when he stood up he saw Chloe. "Oh, hey there," he said sticking out his hand, "John Mitchell." he said introducing himself. "Chloe Beale." she shook his hand "and I see you have met my son, Beckett," he said smiling a smile only I would know as joking. "Yes, sir," she said smiling, and man, that smile is nice...but not in a weird way like that or anything even if she is really pretty and stuff.

We all talked for a while and I learned a lot about Chloe, like that she has, two older brothers, Braden and Blake and they are identical twins and she has a little sister, Charlie who is one year younger than her. Chloe's dad, Chris is the chief firefighter and her mom, Julia is a math teacher at, get this the high school that I will attend. Oh yeah and Chloe goes to the same school as me too, she is a dancer, which explains that banging body...I blame the hormones I'm on my sex drive is crazy ok, so just don't mind my comments about her. Anyways, she is a dancer and has won several championships since she could walk or in this case, dance.

And then she asked about me. That's when I realized hold on, I HAVE NO BACKSTORY. Do you really expect me to say 'well, I was a woman who no one liked, and then became a man, and then my best friend died, and oh yeah my mom is dead' NO. So I did the rational thing. She asked "so, do you have a story to tell?" and me being the 'smooth' guy I am I said "not one worth telli'n."

I mean you can't get smoother than that, plus I even threw in my trademark smirk. Of course, she just laughed and said "I'll get you to crack, it's the Beale charm." making me laugh, "well we'll see about that." I said laughing again. I don't know why but this just feels so natural. Eventually, she left and dad and I finished unpacking and even went for a run afterward to see the neighborhood.

It had been a month since the move and me and Chloe had become close friends, she even introduced me to her other friends that were sisters.

"Hey Beckett, do you wanna meet some of my other friends?" Chloe asked me "do I really have a choice?" I asked putting my clothes in my closet, "no." she said, getting off my bed "ok, whatever I guess I'll meet em." I said.

Next thing I know I'm at a park with Chloe, meeting her friends, "this is Aubrey, Aubrey this is Beckett." she introduced a blonde who was about two inches shorter than me. "Nice to meet you Aubrey." I said sticking out my hand "mhm." she hummed not shaking my hand, not gonna lie she is scary.

"Haha, feisty I see," I said and she just stared at me before whispering something to Chloe. "Hi, I'm Stacie," a tall brunette girl said who just arrived "what's your name, hot stuff?" she asked "Beckett," I said, "you got a girlfriend Beckett?" she asked before Chloe saved me. "No, Stace he just moved here a month ago." she said, "and you have been hiding him all to yourself, no fair." she said winking at me, making me blush.

I have to say I'm not used to getting attention about my looks, but ever since I started working out my abs had gotten stiffer and my arms had bulked up tons, and with the binder, my chest looks more like pecs.

"So, Beckett where are you from hmm?" Aubrey asked "uhh Maine," I said "and how old are you?" "15." "full name?" "Beckett Rory Mitchell."

fun fact I kept the same middle name because it was gender-neutral.

"Date of birth?" the questions keep coming "what is this an interrogation?" I asked. "Date. Of. Birth?" she asked again, man these Georgia girls are scary "umm uhh, July 21st..." "mother's maiden name?" jeez she must really wanna get to know me "Grace Anne Harlem." "fathers full name?" "John Benjamin Mitchell." I answered.

She didn't stop asking me questions either, "fathers occupation?" "high school teacher." "where?" "where else," I said snappy, which let me tell you was a mistake, she stared at me and stared hard "let me rephrase that, Barden High school, that's where he works" I tried again.

Meanwhile, Chloe and Stacie were just watching and laughing. "Mother's occupation?" I felt saddened at the thought of her, this was the second time she was mentioned today which was already more than she had been since the funeral, four years ago. "Hello?" Aubrey said still staring at me "umm, she died," I said and for a moment Aubrey looked sorry "sorry for your loss," she said as did the other two, and then she started asking me questions again but I could tell it was at a slower pace than before and she didn't bring up my mother again after that.

"Your friend is crazy." I said to Chloe as we walked back home from the park, "trust me, she is nicer once you get to know her." Chloe said.

"Yeah, ok," I said "really, it's true, I mean the only reason she interrogated you is because I told her to. When she whispered in my ear she asked if I was sure. It was all my plan to get to know you better, because I said I would." Chloe said, surprising me. "Wow, and here I thought your best friend was the type of crazy chick that my dad always warns me about. Turns out it's you." we laughed for a bit before I asked, "that Stacie girl, what's her deal?" and Chloe just laughed before she looked at me, "seriously, have you never had a girl interested in you before?" I just looked at her.

"Really, but you are so cute," she said, "I mean if I was straight I would totally date you," she said, and...wait what "you're gay?" I asked and she just nodded. Guess that ship sailed, anyways. "Cool, but back to the part where Stacie is interested in me?" "it's like you're not even a real man." Chloe said and I visually stiffened, but laughed it off. "Just know she thinks you're cute and totally wants to bone." whatever that means.

When we got to our houses we went our separate ways. My dad wasn't home yet because he was at the school getting his roster and my schedule for the school year. So I did what any kid home alone would do, I masturbated.

Ever since I told my doctor that I bought a packer he said I should explore the "play" part of it, that way I could become more comfortable with myself, intimately, so when I was ready to go all the way with someone it wouldn't be uncomfortable for me. I have done it pretty often because, well I'm a teenager with crazy ass hormones, but I won't explain in detail about what I did, it's your average masturbation, except for the part when my dad walked in on me.

But, it's happened to everyone at some point so, anyways basically I was nearing my edge, and then boom, he burst through my door. That was probably the most embarrassing moment of my life...but then there was dinner which trumps the last moment for the most embarrassing.

"I was a teenager once you know." my dad started, making me groan because I already know where this is going. "I know you are experimenting and that's ok because you're getting older, but when you do these kinds of things, just lock the door, alright," he said, "ok." I could barely even look at him.

"Which leads me to my next topic, safe sex." he's still going, oh god. "Dad please don't, I mean it's not like I can get someone pregnant." I was begging at this point, I mean the night couldn't have been worst. "That may be true but, STDs are still a possibility." and that's what we talked about for two whole hours.
