A/N: Happy New Year, everyone! This chapter is centered more on Trevor and Olive than Hank and Olivia. I don't own any of the characters except my own.
Trevor arrived at his friends' house in the Hamptons and Daniel was already asleep. Olive had gotten the kids ready for bed before they left. Mark had seen them pull in, so he came out to help.
"Hey, Trev."
"Hey."
"Need some help?"
"Yeah. If you don't mind."
"I don't mind."
"Mark, this is Olive Voight. This is Daniel and these two are Justin and Nicole. Olive, this is Mark Franklin."
"It's nice to meet you."
"You too."
They got everything out of the SUV and went into the house.
"Hey, Trevor."
"Hey, Vicky. This is Olive Voight and her kids, Daniel, Justin and Nicole. This is Mark's wife Vicky."
"It's nice to meet you."
"You too. Let me show you where to put the kids."
"Thank you."
Everyone headed upstairs to put the kids down and then they showed Trevor and Olive to their rooms. Trevor and Mark went to have a drink and Olive and Vicky decided to go sit out on the deck.
"This is really beautiful."
"Thanks. We like it."
"Is this where you live all the time?"
"No. We live on the Upper West Side. We come here for a few weeks in the summer. Trevor said you're widowed."
"Yeah. Just over a year. It hasn't been easy, especially trying to raise 3 kids on my own but my father-in-law has been so amazing. He let me move in with him and them once he decided to move to New York, he was going to allow me to raise the kids where their daddy was raised. He got married again the week before I gave birth to the twins. The company I work for was opening an office in Manhattan and my Boss asked if I'd be interested in transferring out here. She knew my situation and I had asked my father-in-law and his wife if we could live with them if I took the offer. My sister-in-law's boyfriend, now husband, ended up buying my father-in-law's house. Hank didn't know Erin was his daughter until a few months ago but she had been in his life since she was 15. It was more important for me to have my kids be closer to my father-in-law than to my parents, since he's their only connection to their daddy."
"Where were you living before?"
"Chicago. My parents are in Indianapolis."
"How'd you meet Trevor?"
"He's a friend of my father-in-law's wife. She had surgery in January and that was the day I was moving to New York. Hank's best friend Al came with me, so I didn't have to drive out here by myself. We went to the hospital and I met Trevor then. We work in the same building. That ice storm we had, he and I were both stuck at work and kept each other company. He had leftover Chinese in the fridge, so we were able to warm that up before the power went out and he had blankets when the heat went out. My birthday is on Valentine's Day and I had gotten a plant from a Secret Admirer. It turned out to be him."
"How old are you?"
"24."
"I'm 25. My parents hate that I'm with Mark, so I haven't spoken to them since we got together. I see my brothers and sisters though. They really like him. My mom is 10 years younger than my dad and she was 18 when they got married. Not only that, she was pregnant with my brother when they got married. So what if Mark is more than 20 years older than me? I was an adult when I met him."
"So then they've never met their grandchildren?"
"Nope. The only grandparents they know are Mark's parents. They have supported us from the beginning."
"Your parents didn't like that you were with someone closer to their age?"
"Pretty much. He's the same age as my mom."
"As long as you love each other, who cares?"
"That's what my siblings all said. None of them see Mom and Dad all that much because of the way they treat me. They all married their high school sweethearts and I was the only one that didn't have one. My high school boyfriend was a real jerk and only wanted sex. I didn't date anyone again until Mark. We met 5 years ago. I finished college before we got married and I got pregnant with Becca right away. We'll be married 3 years on July 4th and Becca just turned 2 in April."
"Daniel was 2 in May and we got married after I found out I was pregnant with Daniel. Justin died just after Daniel was a year. I was pregnant again when he died."
"Who takes care of your kids?"
"My father-in-law and their nanny. His wife adopted a little boy a couple years ago and Hank adopted him after they got together. Noah is 3½. They adopted a little girl, Rachel, who's 2½. Olivia had hired Lucy to take care of Noah. Hank retired when he moved to New York but they kept Lucy and she agreed to take care of my kids as well. Hank and Olivia took Noah and Rachel to Disneyland and Lucy ended up being sick the entire week they were gone, so Trevor ended up taking time off to take care of my kids. Daniel really likes him."
"How do you feel?"
"I'm kind of confused about everything. The feelings are there and last night happened but a part of me feels like I cheated on my husband. I have been honest with Hank about everything and he has been so supportive. Olivia has too. All Hank wants is to have a relationship with the kids. He even told me that he's ok if I decide to remarry and that person wants to make it official with the kids. He likes Trevor and they have become poker buddies."
Mark and Trevor joined them outside.
"So, Trev, are we going to hear wedding bells anytime soon?"
"Not until she's ready."
"I should let Hank and Olivia know we got her ok. Excuse me."
Olive got up, went inside and up to her room to call Hank and Olivia.
"Trevor, what did you do?"
"Nothing that I know of."
"She said something happened last night."
"Yeah, it did. She even said she'd be ok with us being friends with benefits."
"You love her, don't you?"
"Yeah, I do. Last night just sort of happened though. I invited her over for dinner and one thing led to another. The thing is, I am so crazy about her kids. I'm starting to want to be a dad. I just don't want to push her. I'm going to go up to bed."
"Goodnight."
"Night."
Trevor went up and got ready for bed. He looked in on Daniel and he was sound asleep and so were the twins when he looked in on them. He knocked on Olive's door.
"Come on in."
Trevor opened the door and walked in.
"You ok?"
"Yeah. I'm sorry for taking off the way I did."
"It's ok. Do you want to take a walk?"
"Sure."
Olive got up and then they went outside to go for a walk on the beach. Mark and Vicky had already gone to bed.
"I just want you to know that I don't regret what happened between us."
"I don't either but like I said before, I'm just a little confused about my feelings."
"I understand. We can take things as slowly as you want."
Olive grabbed Trevor and kissed him.
"Trevor."
"Yeah."
"Make love to me."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes."
Trevor took Olive's hand and they headed back to the house. They went up to Olive's room, undressed each other, continued kissing and made love before falling asleep in each other's arms. The next morning, Trevor woke up first and was watching Olive sleep. He kissed her to wake her up.
"Hey."
"Good morning."
"Morning. Last night was amazing."
"I thought so too."
"When are you looking at that house?"
"Today."
"I can't wait to see it."
"Me neither."
"MAMA!"
Olive got up and put some clothes on, so she could go check on Daniel. Then the babies woke up. Trevor got up and put some clothes on as well. Olive checked on Daniel and then Trevor went to get a bottle ready. He went back upstairs and went into Olive's room. She was already nursing Nicole.
"I got a bottle."
"Thanks."
"Sure. Hey, Daniel."
"Hi."
Trevor picked up Justin and gave him his bottle. There was a knock at the door.
"Come in."
Mark and Vicky came in with the girls.
"Morning."
"Hey."
"This is Rebecca and this is Brianna. Becca, this is Uncle Trevor's friend Olive."
"Hi."
"Hi. This is Nicole, that's Daniel and that's Justin."
"Hi."
"Hi."
"Daniel and Becca, why don't we go see what's for breakfast?"
"K."
Mark and Vicky took the kids down to see what was for breakfast. Trevor moved closer to Olive and kissed her. Daniel came back upstairs and saw them. He crawled up on the bed. Olive saw him and started laughing.
"May I help you?"
"Bweakfast."
"We'll be down as soon and your brother and sister are done eating."
"K."
Daniel went back downstairs and both Olive and Trevor finished feeding the babies. Once the babies were fed, they went downstairs.
"What are you two up to today?"
"I have an appointment to see that house at 10. Olive is coming with me."
"It'll be great if you get the house."
"Yeah, it will."
"We're just planning to spend the day at the beach. We'll take the kids and then the two of you can meet us when you're done."
"That sounds like a plan."
Everyone had breakfast and then Olive went to take her shower. After she was done, Trevor took his. Once they were ready, they left to see the house, while everyone else went to the beach. When Trevor and Olive got to the house Trevor was looking at, the Realtor took them around.
"This is amazing."
"You like it?"
"I love it."
"Do you think I should buy it?"
"It's your decision. Not mine."
"I want to be able to come here with here with you with and without the kids. We can have more nights like we did last night. I love you, Olive."
"This is all happening too fast for me."
"Last night, you wanted to be together and now you think everything is happening too fast. You really need to make up your mind."
"We need to slow things down. I can't deal with this."
Olive left and headed back to Mark and Vicky's. She went to the beach, thanked them for everything, got the kids and took them back to the city after she got their stuff. Trevor decided to get the house and then he walked back to Mark and Vicky's. He went to the beach.
"She left, didn't she?"
"Yep. What happened?"
I asked her if she thought I should buy the house and I told her I wanted to be here with her with and without the kids."
"You didn't tell her you loved her, did you?"
"It just sort of slipped out. I'm an idiot!"
Trevor went for a walk to clear his head. Several hours later, Olive arrived at Hank and Olivia's. She parked in the garage, got the kids out and went into the house. They ended up going out by the pool where everyone else was.
"I don't want to talk about it."
Daniel went to play with Noah, Rachel and Kara and Olive left the stroller with the twins by Hank before going inside. She sat down at the kitchen table and broke down. Olivia went inside to check on her.
"What happened?"
"I don't want to talk about it. Ever."
"I'm guessing this has something to do with the tall, handsome one."
"That would be a good guess."
"Did he say or do something to hurt you?"
"No. We spent the night together last night and this morning I went with him when he went to look at the house he wanted to get. He asked me if I thought he should buy it. I told him that it was his decision and not mine. He told me that he wanted to go there with me with and without the kids and he wants more nights like we had last night. He also told me that he loved me. I panicked and told him things were moving too fast. He said that last night I wanted us to be together and now I think things are moving too quickly. He told me I needed to make up my mind and so I told him we needed to slow down. I left, went to get the kids and came home."
"Do you love him?"
"I don't know."
"I kind of think you do love him if you wanted to be with him again last night."
"I shouldn't feel that way but I do. It's too soon after losing Justin though. What is wrong with me?"
"There's nothing wrong with you. If you didn't care for him, you wouldn't have slept with him. Maybe the person you should be talking to about all this is Justin."
Hank came in and Olive told him what happened.
"I'm so confused."
"I think she does love him."
"I do too. Take it from someone who has been through it. I started falling in love with someone who I didn't think loved me back. When I finally told her how I felt, she told me she's with someone else. That didn't sit too well with me. As you can see, she came to her senses."
Olivia smacked Hank.
"Smart ass! Maybe she needs to talk to Justin."
"Yeah, maybe. I talked to Camille a lot over the years. The last time I did was when Erin was missing. I actually talked to both of them and had them make sure she was ok."
"I know you waited a little longer after Camille died than I did but did you ever feel like you were cheating on her?"
"In a way, yes, which is why I waited so long but I wouldn't change it for anything. Don't feel guilty if you're in love with Trevor, especially so soon after losing Justin. You don't want wait too long to tell him how you really feel and then have him tell you he's moved on with someone else."
"I'm still so confused. I care about him. I really do. He makes me smile again and he is so good with the kids."
"All Olivia had to do was threaten to arrest me and I was in love. I never thought I'd ever feel happy again but she makes me feel like a whole person, which I hadn't felt in a very long time."
"I kind of do feel that way with Trevor. Can I leave the kids with you?"
"Of course."
"Thanks."
Olive hugged Hank and Olivia, went to say goodbye to Daniel and the twins, grabbed her stuff and headed back to the Hamptons. Hank and Olivia went back outside.
"Is everything ok?"
"Yeah. It will be."
