Chapter 3:
Nyn peers inside and sees that the interior of the shuttle seems frozen, but he also notices that there is a lot of equipment inside the shuttle. "It appears to have a lot of equipment inside this shuttle, except that everything seems to be frozen. I'm going to get inside to check it out," Nyn said as he walked into the shuttle. Upon closer inspection, there are multiple security TV monitors that have been modified for the shuttle. Nyn then makes his way over to one of the monitors and notices that the screen won't turn on. He then turns to see that there is a cryosleep chamber nearby, so he decides to go over to investigate it.
As Nyn looks inside the cryosleep chamber, he notices that it appears to be empty. Both Paul and Indra walked inside the shuttle to help inspect it to see if there was anyone inside. "I think it's safe to assume that the crew is not onboard," Paul says. "Yeah," Nyn agrees, "but let's finish looking around anyway," Nyn says as they continue searching the shuttle.
As Indra walks up to the pilot seat, she notices there is someone sitting in the chair who isn't moving. "Captain, get over here?" Indra called out, and Nyn and Paul walked over to Indra. "What's going on?" Nyn asked, "I think I found the pilot." Indra replied, and Nyn and Paul walked over to the pilot seat and noticed that it was a frozen corpse of a human male. "I guess this guy froze to death," Paul said as he looked at the corpse. "Well, let's get him out of here," Nyn says. "We'll take him to the medical lab and do an autopsy on him," Nyn finished. "How are we supposed to carry him? I mean, he's already a corpse." Indra asked while pointing out the frozen pilot in the seat. "Captain, if you don't mind, I believe that these items and equipment could be important, so I suggest we take them back with us." Paul . asked Nyn. "Yeah, we'll take everything back to the ship," Nyn agreed.
Meanwhile, on the control deck, Bill, Percy, Josh, and Andrea all watched the video feed of Nyn, Indra, and Paul's space helmet camera as they inspected the shuttle's interior. They all witnessed what Indra found in the pilot seat. "Oh my god," Bill says, shocked at the sight. "He froze to death," Percy adds, equally horrified. "But why?" Josh asks. "Josh, go to your cabin room," Andrea requested. "But Andrea, I want to stay here and see them do their job," Josh refuses. "Josh, please." Andrea insists, "I think this is just too much for you to handle right now." Josh ignores Andrea and continues watching the video feed. "Andrea, please, go with your brother and explain things to him," Bill pleads. "He needs to understand what happened." Andrea glares at Bill. "But... he's only twelve. This is too much for him." andrea insists.
"Andrea, please," Bill repeats, "he needs to understand what happened." Andrea sighs, "Fine. But you owe me one." Andrea finished speaking; she then stood up and walked over to Josh. "Come on, Josh," Andrea says gently, "let's go talk about this somewhere else." Josh nods his head and follows Andrea out of the room.
Once Andrea and Josh leave the control room, Bill turns back to Percy. "Do you think it's wise to take everything back to the ship?" he asks, concerned. "I believe it's necessary; we need to know what was going on in that shuttle and what happened." Percy replies, "If we don't take the items back, they might be lost forever." Bill considers this for a moment. "You're right," he says finally, "we should take everything back."
Back at the shuttle, Nyn, Indra, and Paul have finished loading the equipment onto the cargo sled. Nyn then goes over to the cryosleep chamber and notices that there is some kind of cryobox plugged into the cryochamber. "What's this?" Nyn asks, pointing to the box. "I believe it's some kind of cryogenic storage device." Paul explains, "It's probably used to store biological specimens or samples." Paul finishes, and Nyn turns his face towards Paul. "Can we take it back to the ship?" Nyn asks. "I believe so," Paul replies. "We'll need to make sure it's properly secured, though."
Nyn, Indra, and Paul all return to the Niridesis01 via the airlock; once they enter Niridesis 01, they remove their spacesuits and head over to the medlab as the frozen corpse is being transported there. Upon arriving at the medlab, both Nyn and Paul . examined the body as everyone else was in the dining room waiting for Paul. and Nyn finish up the autopsy so that they can get started working on examining the items and equipment that were unloaded from the shuttle.
Once they were finished with the autopsy, Paul went over to the cryobox, and just before he got to open it, he noticed a small disc attached to the side of the box. "Huh, what's this?" Paul . wonders aloud as he picks up the disc. "Perhaps it's some kind of identification tag," Nyn suggests, "we should check it out." Paul . nods his head. "Okay, let's do it," Paul . says as he puts down the cryobox and heads over to the terminal to insert the disc into the reader slot.
As soon as Paul inserts the disc into the terminal, a video message begins playing on the screen. It shows a man on the screen; it was the pilot of the shuttle, and the message plays:
"This is a tape-recorded journal for the NSA, CIA agent William Rogers speaking. If anyone has found my shuttle, then you probably know I'm dead and understand why my arrival from the mission was delayed. So, as you should know, I hitched a ride on a commercial starship called the Nostromo in one of its shuttles, which was designed for me by a former science officer who worked on the Nostromo. But not only did he allow me to travel in hiding, he also helped me make improvements to the shuttle before the nostromo left the Thadus system; it was installed with security monitors that could watch the whole nostromo from this small shuttle. On to the main reason for my delay. There's been an accident, and the Nostromo crew found... an alien creature. It's highly aggressive, and many of the crew members have been killed by it. I had to collect DNA samples of almost every deceased crew member in the hopes that someday we might be able to clone them. But it seems one remaining crew member attempted to destroy the nostromo, but thankfully I barely escaped the nostromo. Now that I have the information on Weyland-Yutani, but also the blood samples and the security tapes that were downloaded from inside the Nostromo computer, I'm sure someone might find this shuttle someday and have begun perfecting cloning. I don't know if they will regain their memories, but I just hope someone can give these people a second chance at life. Right now, the samples are in stasis until this shuttle is recovered. This is William Rogers signing off." And with that, the message ends, leaving both Nyn and Paul. staring at each other with confusion and curiosity.
Meanwhile, the rest of the crew was eating lunch in the dining hall. Andrea and Josh were sitting next to each other with the rest of the group; the food was still hot, and they were enjoying the meal. Suddenly, the door opened, and Paul walked in. Everyone looked at him curiously, wondering why he was back so soon.
"Hello, fellows," Paul said cheerfully, "it seems we did find many interesting things in the shuttle." Everyone looked at him skeptically. "What did you find?" Josh asked excitedly.
Paul turned to the others and smiled. "I found a video message from a man named William Rogers; it turns out he was the pilot of the shuttle," he said, "and he claims that he was a member of the CIA." Paul explains as everyone stares at him, "He said that he was trying to expose Weyland-Yutani for something, but he didn't say what it was." Paul continued, "He also said that the shuttle was part of a commercial starship called the Nostromo." When Paul finished, everyone looked at him with disbelief and confusion.
"Wait, what?" Andrea exclaimed, "Nostromo, out here?!"
"Yes," Paul confirmed, "it seems that Mr. Rogers collected DNA blood samples from all the deceased crew members aboard the Nostromo in order to clone them later. Also, he said a lot more things we didn't quite understand, so we'll start looking into the items we unloaded from the shuttle." Paul explained, "He said there are recordings of everything that happened on the Nostromo." paul finished.
"Wow, that's incredible!" Josh exclaimed, "Can we listen to the messages?"
"Sure," Paul replied, "we'll play them later. For now, let's enjoy our meal."
Everyone nodded and resumed eating. As they ate, they discussed what they would do with the information they found. They were all curious to learn more about the Nostromo and the man who had tried to expose Weyland-Yutani. They couldn't wait to know more about it.
After everyone finished eating, Nyn announced that he and Paul were going to look over the items unloaded from the shuttle now, starting with the computer logs and the security footage of the Nostromo. "We'll need your help, Percy," Nyn said.
"Of course, captain," Percy replied, standing up from his chair.
"Good, let's get started then," Nyn said, leading the way out of the dining hall and heading for the med-lab, where they left the items.
Once they arrived at the medical lab, Nyn and Paul started examining the items; they found more footage tapes and data discs. The whole group sat down at the terminal and began reviewing the computer logs and security footage. What intrigued them was the cam footage of the three Nostromo crew members approaching an alien derelict ship that crashed and landed on LV-426. "So how much of this is there? and where did they take this footage from?" James asked, "There is a total of 58 different cam footage, and all of it came from the Nostromo's onboard computer." Percy answered, "This means we could possibly know what happened to the crew of the Nostromo." Percy finished. Everyone nodded their heads in agreement, but Andrea said, "I think James wants to know what the planetary system is like." Andrea asked, "Well, according to the computer's log files, the Nostromo was on a commercial run to earth, and they picked up a distress beacon coming from a planetoid in the Zeta II reticulan system." Bill replied, "They were supposed to investigate and determine whether it was S.O.S., and according to the star system maps, the planetoid was called LV-426." bill finished.
Paul, however, was looking through a downloaded copy of the captain's log that was taken from the nostromo and found something that intrigued him but also confused him. "According to the captain's log, there was a second shuttle on the USCSS Nostromo. It was called The Salmacis, but unfortunately that shuttle was damaged in a loading accident over Thedus in 2122 and was no longer aboard when the Nostromo departed." Paul . explains, "So if there was a second shuttle, then how could this shuttle, the Narcissus II, be installed on the Nostromo?" Indra asks, "Maybe the company sent another shuttle to replace the salmacis? without the crew knowing it." Indra suggests, "Either that or someone else replaced the salmacis without the crew knowing it. Whoever helped this William Rogers modify the Narcissus II damaged the salmacis on purpose to secretly install the Narcissus II on the Nostromo without the crew knowing it." Paul finishes, and everyone looks at him, thinking about what he just said.
"Perhaps it's possible," nNynsays thoughtfully. Josh speaks up, "But wouldn't they need to know how to install the Narcissus II on the Nostromo without getting caught?" Josh asks, "Yeah, that is true." Paul replies, "Unless they had help." Paul finished, and everyone nodded in agreement.
As the group was watching the footage of the three Nostromo crew members entering the derelict ship, suddenly they heard a loud alarm. Everyone jumped up and looked at each other nervously. "What's going on?" James asked, looking around. Percy and bill both ran over to the terminal and checked the radar status. "It's a collision alarm, there is something outside the ship and its going to hit right in-front of us." percy says, "we better get to the main deck." bill finished.
