Hey guys! sorry this took so long, but with life, school, work and other stories needing to be updated as well as being published, this came out a little later than what I was hoping for.
Javi sighed as he slumped down next to Izzy at the dining table, Izzy looked up from where she was eating cereal "You ok, bro?"
"yeah, just had a rough night" Javi muttered, rubbing his eyes and Izzy nodded, even though the siblings were close, they were both still stubborn on occasion and if they were hurting, kept it to themselves. A part of her blamed their dad who often berated Javi into hiding his emotions, but another part of her blamed Javi's childhood bullies who always went out of their way to make her brother cry, knowing that Javi wout open up about his problems, she simply nodded and went to eating her breakfast as Javi poured himself cereal and orange juice
"I still don't get how you can have both milk and OJ at the same time" Izzy said and she sipped her coffee
"yeah well I can't have coffee and we're all out of hot chocolate and marshmallows, so Orange Juice is the next best thing" Javi shrugged, sipping his juice, Izzy shuddered at the thought of Javi having coffee as he tended to get a little...hyper, would be the delicate way of putting it.
"Hey Izzy, do…do you ever feel guilty whenever we destroy a Sporix beast?" Javi asked her
"Not really. I've never really thought about it to be honest, but they do deserve it, I mean, they did destroy Rafkon, and we're not really destroying them, just…reverting them back into their weird squishy form. What brought this on?"
"Remember a few years ago, when Dad was telling us how killing a killer makes us worse than the killer themselves?"
"Javi, this is completely different. We destroy the Sporix for a reason, we're protecting Earth. We don't have a choice"
"What if we did?" Javi muttered
"What?"
"nothing" Javi muttered, Izzy gave him a look but before she could say anything their Morphers went off "What is it Solon?"
"There's a Sporix beast in Greenly Woods, hurry!"
"on our way" Both siblings nodded at each other, before teleporting away. they arrived in Greenly Woods to see the rest of their team waiting for them, all around them they could see that many plants were wilted and the trees either had large slashes on them, or their leaves were a deathly yellow colour, even worse, several small animals such as squirrels, rabbits and a few birds were still and lifeless on the dead grass.
"woah" Izzy muttered
"It's like the plants have been poisoned," Amelia said sadly, cradling a wilted flower
"The Sporix beast must have done this. we have to find it before it can cause even more damage. Solon is trying to find an antidote to try and save the trees, she said it's too late to save the small plants, but we may be able to save the trees and some of the surrounding area" Zayto said
"We should split up, and cover more ground" Ayion suggested and they all nodded
"good idea. Ollie, you and Amelia will follow me to the north. Ayion, you Izzy and Javi will go west. Be careful" Zayto ordered
"we will" With that the 6 rangers split up into groups, unaware of a small green slime mushroom watching them from the trees
"looks like the Rangers are splitting up. perfect! Void Knight's plan is going perfectly!"
Javi wandered slowly through the woods, hating how the beautiful trees that always gave him a sense of peace were dying, next to him Ayion and Izzy looked at the trees sadly
"This is so horrible" Izzy muttered
"yeah, this forest is so beautiful" Ayion said as he looked at a dying flower sadly
"HA! There you are rangers!" Pollutor laughed as he jumped in front of them
"wow! A sporix beast!" Izzy said, taking a fighting stance
"That's right! My name is Pollutor, and I'm going to turn this whole forest into a perfect home"
"you're the one destroying the plants!" Javi growled, stepping forwards, eyes flashing purple for just a second
"That's right!"
"too bad, 'cause we're here to stop you. It morphin time!" Ayion said, taking out his dino key along with Javi and Izzy
"link to morphin' grid!" soon the rangers were morphed and they charged at Polluter who slashed at them with his claws, making them jump quickly to the side
"Hengemen!" Pollutor shouted and dozens of Hengemen appeared and attacked the rangers
"Zayto, we found the Sporix Beast" Izzy said into her Morpher as she blocked a Hengemen's attack
"good work guys, unfortunately, we're a little busy ourselves" Zayto replied with a grunt "We found Boomtower in the woods, not sure why he's here"
"ok, meet up as soon as we can," Ayion said as he blasted Pollutor who fell back
"Electro dino key, ready!"
"Sprint Dino Key, ready!"
"Shield dino key, ready!"
All three rangers activated their power-up keys and continued to fight the Hengemen, quickly defeating them before charging at Pollutor who shot purple blobs at them, Javi used his shield to block them all, before Izzy used her increased speed to quickly slice at Polluter, distracting him enough for Ayion to shot him with a bolt of lightning, it managed to blow him back several feet, but he was soon able to get up
"you'll pay for that rangers! take this!" he fired more blobs of purple energy at them, which Javi quickly blocked
"nice try, but you won't get us that-where'd he go?" Javi said as he realised Pollutor was gone
"yoo hoo!" a voice above them called, they looked up quickly and saw Pollutor flying above their heads and before they could do anything, he fired more purple lobs at them, this time hitting the rangers straight on, causing them to fall in pain "hope you like the taste of poison rangers!" Pollutor laughed and sent out multiple slashes of energy at the rangers, causing them to de-morph as they flew back several feet
"POLLUTOR!" a voice suddenly yelled, making Javi flinch involuntarily, as Boomtower appeared
"hey-ah big guy, mission accomplished!" Pollutor said as he landed and saluted Boomtower
"good work!" Boomtower said and turned back to the fallen rangers "We'll continue our battle another day, Black Ranger" with that, both Boomtower and Pollutor disappeared just as the other rangers appeared running out of the woods
"sorry we're late guys, we had to battle some Hengemen" Ollie said as they appeared, but stopped quickly at his fallen teammates "What happened?!"
"The Sporix Beast, Pollutor, hit us with some sort of poison" Izzy winced in pain as she spoke "Then he attacked us and Boomtower appeared"
"This was an intentional attack" Ayion grimaced as Zayto helped him up "That's what he said to Boomtower, mission accomplished"
"But why would he pollute and destroy the forest, just to poison us?" Amelia wondered as she held Izzy up
"Not sure, let's get them back to base," Zayto said and with that, all 6 rangers disappeared.
Later in the base, Izzy, Javi and Ayion were all sitting in Medical beds all groaning slightly as Solon analysed them one by one
"hmm, interesting" Solon muttered,
"how are they Solon?" Amelia asked anxiously
"Well it appears that the poison harming Javi, Izzy and Ayion is similar to the one harming the forest, luckily I have enough data from both sources to create an antidote. While it won't revive the forest, it will stop the poison from spreading" Solon said
"That's good, if we can at least stop the poison from spreading, the forest at least has a chance to survive," Ollie said "And then we can get rid of the polluted plants and plant some new ones"
"wow, I never thought I'd hear the day Ollie volunteered to do gardening" Amelia joked with a smile
"Hey, I may not like getting my hands dirty, but my granddad used to be an Environmental Activist, plus my mom's always going on about preserving nature while digging for history" Ollie grinned
"did you find anything else Solon?" Zayto asked
"Well, I did a quick scan and luckily the poison isn't too deadly to humans, but is still quite dangerous. the Morphing Grid is slowing the spread but it can only do so much, if we had a sample of the poison I could make an antidote that would not only help the others but also help save the forest"
"That's a relief, once we get the sample, Solon can create an antidote and she can cure the forest and the others, once she does that we can defeat Pollutor, maybe we can use the flare dino key?" Amelia suggested
"no way, that could harm the forest even more" Zayto shook his head, but Ollie looked thoughtful
"Maybe not Zayto, if we can lure Pollutor to the part of the forest that was most affected by the poison, we could burn all the dead plants and dead animals, therefore stopping any disease from spreading to humans and other animals, and by burning the dead plants it can encourage new plants to be grown," Ollie said a thoughtful look on his face
"he's right Zayto, I don't like it much either, but the longer we leave those dead bodies, it risks the chance of the poison eventually spreading to the residents of Pine Ridge" Amelia said and Zayto sighed
"All alright then, we'll use the flare Dino Key to defeat Pollutor, but how can we keep him on the ground?"
"we can use the Elesto Dino key, keep him tied up so he can't use his wings!" Ollie suggested
"If we can get a chance, his biggest defence is his blades" Zayto said, a thoughtful look on his face
"we can use the Shield Dino key to block his attacks" Amelia suggested
"I think our biggest problem is Boomtower, you saw what he was like earlier and we're down 3 team members meaning we could have a lot more trouble" Amelia said and Zayto nodded
"We could use the double dino key to create doubles of ourselves!" Ollie suggested and Zayto shook his head
"Unfortunately one person can only use one Dino Key at a time, if we use another Dino Key it could cancel out its effects"
"I may have something that could work" Solon said, walked over to them and passed Zayto a dino key similar to the one he used to morph, except it had more armour and held a different weapon
What key is that?" Amelia asked
"It's a dino knight key" Everyone turned to see Ayion standing by the doorway, leaning heavily against it while clutching his ribs, next to him Izzy was being held up by her brother
"Ayion, Izzy, Javi, you should be resting" Amelia said, but they ignored her and limped over to the group
"the dino knight keys are linked to a different ranger through their Zord, it's similar to how the elemental keys give us special armour and attacks, the dino keys give us a boost in power as well as a unique attack for each ranger"
"Unfortunately after the last battle with the Sporix, they were heavily damaged and needed repairing" Solon provided "Sorry it took me so long to give them to you, to be honest, I sorta misplaced them after so many years"
"It alright Solon, it is to be expected after 65 million years" Zayto laughed
"So, do we get keys?" Ollie asked eagerly
"Unfortunately the other keys are deactivated," Solon sighed, opening her claws to reveal several keys similar to Zayto's, except only one key was gold and blue, the others were a grey colour
"Why are they deactivated?" Izzy asked
"Because these keys are linked to each of your respective Zords, the Zords share a small fraction of their powers in these keys. According to Solon, they are activated once the Zords accept us as their partners"
"But we're power rangers, how could the Zords not accept us?" Amelia wanted to know
"You have to understand, the Zords were created specifically to be partners with the original rangers. And when they died, a part of them died along with them. While the Zords do listen to you, they haven't accepted you just yet" Solon provided
"You can't force the bond to happen, you need to let it happen naturally" Zayto provided clutching his key thoughtfully "This could work, I'll battle Boomtower using my Dino Knight key while Amelia and Ollie take on Pollutor"
"right, Amelia, as you have the most experience with the Flare key, you have to be the one to use it" Ollie said handing her the orange key
"ok" Amelia nodded, taking the key
"Good," Zayto nodded before turning to the others "You guys go rest up, you'll need your strength for later" Just then the monitor behind them beeped
"looks like Pollutor and Boomtower are back in the forest" Solon told them
"Alright guys, let's do this!"
I always wondered why in SPD they could actually hold prisoners captive instead of destroying them (come on, grumm deserved to be destroyed. Part of why I loved Dekaranger) and so basically in this au, Javi was the one to suggest that they pay for their crimes in jail instead of them dying.
The Dino Knght is something I created, I thought it was unfair that Zayto was the only one to get special armour, considering how many original fight scenes Hasbro created, it was a bit disappointing that the whole team didn't get a power-up or upgrade, all designs for the Dino Knight Armor and the attacks are on my DevianArt profile; latias-latios-rock
