Special Features:
- Alaya-Vijnana System
An organic device system, this old man-machine interface was developed during the Calamity War to maximize the abilities of the Mobile Suit. Hence, most Mobile Suits from that era, like the Gundams, are compatible with it. The system has two parts, one part is installed in the Mobile Suit, and the other part is implanted into the pilot's spine. With this system, the pilot can connect to the Mobile Suit's computer and directly process its data. It also allows any pilot, even uneducated ones, to operate a Mobile Suit for combat without prior training or even reading the instruction manual, and can make cumbersome weapons much easier to use. The implant in the pilot also enhances spatial awareness. The drop in technical capabilities after the Calamity War, coupled with the use of an incomplete version of the system in the Outer Sphere areas (such as Mars and Jupiter), lead to the implant surgery having a low success rate, thus it can only be done at a young age to let the implant fuse as the pilot grows. The Valefor's Alaya-Vijnana System can transmit higher than the usual amount of data to the pilot as its limiter was switched off for Serena's use, thus only she can pilot the Gundam without any problems.
- n_i_t_r_o System
Valefor is equipped with the special Newtype Injection Trace Reformed Oldtype System. The n_i_t_r_o System forcibly enhances a normal pilot into a Cyber Newtype temporarily, and causes the mobile suit to emit blue flames during the process. It improves the pilot's response time, and allows the use of complicated fire control system as well as remote weaponry such as Fin Funnels. However, the process of forcibly turning the pilot into a Cyber Newtype involve "rewriting" the brain, and this causes the pilot's personality to slowly, progressively and permanently become unusually aggressive and unstable. In GBN, overuse of the n_i_t_r_o System is also known to, on occasion, permanently assign the "Cyber Newtype" tag to a character due to a programming bug...
- Heat Radiation Face Open
A feature copied from the F91 Gundam, and the Crossbone series, the Valefor can temporarily "Open Face" to release heat and increase performance. This allows the X-1 to perform otherwise extremely demanding maneuvers or attacks that would normally be considered impossible. It can also be used as an intimidation tactic against enemies.
- I-Field Generator
A unique feature taken from the Crossbone Gundam X-3 were its pair of I-field generators, one mounted in each arm. The I-field is generated around the hand and can bend any beam, whether it is from a beam rifle or a beam saber, and can even protect the Valefor from a high-energy cannon from close range. Due to being exact replicas of the units mounted onto the X-3's arms, the units mounted on the Valefor still suffer from the same overheating problems. Each generator can only be used for a total of 105 seconds and require 120 seconds to cool down. This leaves a window of 15 seconds where it has no defense against beam attacks, though its innate Nanolaminate Armor serves to diminish this issue to a point where it can be considered non-existent. Also, the I-field cannot protect against physical weapons.
- Fog Dispenser
Taken from the XM-X0 Crossbone X-0, the Valefor has the ability to release a thick fog to engulf the battlefield or to hide its location. This serves to obstruct the vision of other mobile suits and their pilots. The fog is also capable of jamming communications and sensors in its area of effect, isolating enemy Mobile Suits from one another. However, said effect is indiscriminate, meaning allies will also be affected by the jamming fog, so Serena has to be careful when to deploy it on the battlefield.
Standard Armaments
Fixed:
- Vibro-Nail Shield Armor x2
Built utilizing parts from a plastic kit from another toyline, these two shields can open up into large destructive claws, with reduced sizes so as to not interfere with close-quarters combat. Its design utilizes the enhanced toughness of the psycho-frame blades stored within to augment the attack power, destroying the target with super vibrations. Said vibrations can attack just short of ahead from where the Vibro-Nails strike, due to the resonance caused by the psycho-frame nails. (For the curious, said shields are taken from the Raftclans, as seen in these two pictures, though utilizing a twin claw set-up akin to the Raftclans Karokuara )
- Leg Claw x2
Mounted on Valefor's feet, they were taken from a HG Gundam Asmodeus, but modified to have a more brutalist design and use. They can be used to secure the Valefor in place, but Serena's primary utilization for the Leg Claws is for unorthodox grappling maneuvers using Valefor's feet. The sheer grip strength afforded by the twin Ahab Reactors also make it possible for Valefor to sheer off limbs with the right amount of force and angle of grappling.
- Heat Tail x1
A custom weapon mounted to the back of the Valefor, it utilizes the same special viscous alloy as the Hashmal's tail blade in order to achieve maximum flexibility, but rather than only mounting a solid blade at the end, the wire is used as the core of a long heat rod modeled after the ones used by the Tallgeese III and Gundam Epyon, allowing the "heat tail" to move much more fluidly than the weapon it emulates. Due to the superheated temperatures, prolonged contact with Nanolaminate Armor will slowly burn away the armor layers, rendering enemy Mobile Suits more vulnerable to damage. Due to its nature, use of the Heat Tail requires the Alaya-Vijnana System, meaning those without Whiskers cannot utilize it at all.
- Scissor Anchor x2
Taken from the Crossbone series, the Valefor is equipped with a pair of scissor anchors stored on the front skirt armor. These anchors are attached to the Gundam by long chains and use scissor claws to grip objects. While these are not offense weapons per-say, they provide several uses in combat. They can be used to grip the limb of an enemy machine to ensnare it, or to reel it closer to the Valefor for melee combat. They can also be used to turn ensnared mobile suits into bludgeoning weapons by pulling on the chain. The scissor anchors can also be used to stabilize the Gundam's footing in case of emergencies, such as when fighting the wind force of an explosion.
Handheld:
- 130mm Rifle x1
Main long-range weapon for the Valefor, its caliber and firepower are greater than most other Mobile Suit rifles of the PD era, and thus can deal far more damage. Can be fired either in semi-automatic, full-auto or three-round-burst modes.
- Bastard Sword/Mace x1
The main melee armament of the Valefor, this close combat weapon is created to counter Nanolaminate Armor. It can be used as the Bastard Mace when combined with its heavy scabbard, which is mounted on the MS' back.
- Lord Long Sword
Taken from the Lord Astray Omega, the Lord Long Sword is made out of Rare Metal Omega, making it virtually indestructible to all known forms of damage. Its size, sheer mass and material of make afford the weapon both greater range and destructive power than other weapons of its class, and can even be used as a makeshift shield, owning to the large surface area of its blade.
Due to already possessing the Heat Tail mounted on its back, Serena eschewed the Lord Whip mounted inside the Long Sword, instead customizing the blade so it splits only into two swords, without the need of the Lord Whip. Being made of Rare Alloy Omega, they are borderline indestructible, and its sheer size means the blade serves as a makeshift shield as well.
