Chapter 16: I Object!

Disclaimer: I don't own Inuyasha!

Kagome pulled away from Sango and looked deep into her eyes. "Hiro?"

Sango sighed as she looked at the floor. "We found him but he's in bad shape."

"Take me to him." Kagome said as she started to stand up.

"Kagome," Sango said as she gently pushed her back against the bed, "you're hooked up to a bunch of different machines right now, you can't go anywhere. Besides, the doctors are still working on him to get him stable, they wouldn't allow you in the room anyway."

Kagome sighed as she laid back against the pillow as she looked out the window as tears gathered in her eyes, she was so worried about Hiro and hoped that he'd be okay.

Sango looked at Miroku in concern, Kagome hadn't mentioned anything about the unborn baby, she wondered why. "Um, Kagome, I have to tell you something that might be hard to he-"

"I already know." Kagome interrupted as she continued to stare out the window. "You were about to tell me that I lost the baby. I already know."

Sango watched as a tear rolled down Kagome's cheek and heard her voice waver as her emotions took over. "How-"

Kagome looked back at Sango with a sad look before sighing and looking down and toying with the edge of her sheet. "When I was asleep my soul wasn't in my body, it was in a place called limbo."

"Limbo?" Miroku asked with a questioning look. "What's that?"

"It's a place where a soul goes to heal when the body is too tired or injured to heal itself." Kagome explained still fidgeting with the sheet. "But a soul can only rest there once. The next time my body is too tired or injured, I'll die."

"How do you know that?" Sango asked surprised that a place like that existed.

"My father told me." Kagome answered as she wrapped the sheet around her finger several times before undoing it and then rewrapping her finger.

"Your father was there?" Miroku asked shocked. "Did he tell you anything else?"

"He told me that I had to realize what really happened and that nothing was what it seemed. He said to give you guys a chance to explain what happened. I'm so sorry that I thought the worse, that you guys were actually a part of what happened, I'm stupid to believe that you'd do that to me - that Inuyasha would do that to me." Kagome broke out into a sob.

"Oh Kagome, we don't blame you one bit." Sango whispered with a sniffle as she smoothed Kagome's hair back.

"That's right." Miroku agreed with a nod.

"Really?" Kagome asked as she looked up at them, she was shocked that they weren't angry with her. "You're not mad?"

"Not at all." Sango answered with a shake of her head.

"We don't know everything that was said or done to you while you were in that basement, but what we do know is that Naraku disguised himself as Inuyasha to trick you into signing the divorce papers." Miroku added softly. "It makes sense why you would think that we had something to do with it. We would never hold that against you."

"Thank you." Kagome whispered as she wiped her eyes. She didn't know what she did to deserve such amazing people to come into her life but she was internally grateful for them. "Hiro was there." She went on with a sigh.

"You saw Hiro?" Sango asked with her eyes wide. "How was he?"

"I don't know, I wasn't allowed to talk to him and my father wasn't allowed to tell me much about him." Kagome answered with a sad sigh. "My father only said that he had a choice of whether come back to Earth or go to heaven."

"What's his choice going to be?" Sango asked as he heart thundered in her chest, scared that they might lose the little boy.

"My dad couldn't tell me." Kagome answered with a sniffle. "Only that his body is more tired than what mine was and that if he were to chose to come back to Earth then he'd be in limbo for a lot longer than I was."

The two listening to Kagome talk didn't say anything as their hearts sank in their chests. They might not know Hiro all that much but what they did see of the boy they could tell that he was such a kind sweet little boy. He deserved so much more than what was happening to him right now.

"My father also told me that the baby didn't make it." Kagome whispered so softly that the other two almost didn't hear her. "He said that he was allowed to tell me that much because if I were to find out once I woke up, it'd be too much for my body to handle."

"I'm so sorry, Kagome." Sango whispered as she gripped the young woman's hand.

They sat in silence as Kagome thought about Hiro, Inuyasha, the baby that they lost and everything else that they've been through, with a sigh she looked back at Sango. "Where's Phantom?" She needed him there with her, now that she knew it wasn't him in the basement with her, she couldn't get him out of her mind.

"Shippo can't get close enough to him to let him know that we found Hiro, he's still with Kikyo." Miroku responded with a sigh.

Kagome felt her heart crack, hearing that Inuyasha was with Kikyo almost put her in utter despair.

Seeing the rest of what little light Kagome had in her eyes dim, Miroku took a step closer to Kagome. "We are doing everything that we can to get him back by your side where he belongs." He reassured looking deeply into her eyes.

"Thanks, Miroku." Kagome said with a slight smile as the doctor walked into the room.

"How are we doing?" The doctor asked as he held his clipboard up as he jotted something down before looking at Kagome.

"I'm doing okay, just a lot of soreness and my stomach hurts." Kagome replied as she looked up at the doctor.

The doctor jotted something else down as Kagome finished talking before looking back up. "That pain is normal, the bullet hit you in the uterus causing you to start hemorrhaging - we did all we could, but we couldn't save the baby or your uterus and had to remove them."

Kagome's heart sunk in her chest at the doctor's words, it hurt enough that she lost the baby but she had always wanted more children and hearing that it was an impossibility hurt just as much. Tears welled up in her eyes as her hand moved to rest on her stomach as she looked back out the window while the doctor took her vitals.

"The soreness in your arms should lessen in a few weeks but won't be completely better for about a month or so, when you're ready to go home, I'll send you with some pain medication. Your wrists should heal up in a few weeks as well." The doctor explained as he wrote something else in his chart before looking back up once again. "I want you to talk to a therapist we have here at the hospital before you get released."

Kagome didn't say anything as she continued to look out the window with tears falling out of her eyes prompting the doctor to leave without another word. "Maybe Phantom should just stay with Kikyo." She whispered with a sob as her tears came out harder. "She'll be able to give him children."

"Oh, Kagome," Sango whispered as she sat on the edge of Kagome's bed and placed her hand on Kagome's shoulder, "Phantom already knows that you lost the baby and your uterus - he still wants to be here with you and we're doing everything we can to get him back."

As Sango was reassuring Kagome, Miroku got a phone call.

Looking down at the screen, Miroku saw it was Shippo calling. He pressed the answering button before placing the phone to his ear. "Shippo, what do you have for me?"

"I still can't get close to him; they won't leave him alone for even a second." Shippo informed in a whisper, though Miroku could tell he was frustrated. "They are about to leave to get Boss' tux and more decorations for the wedding."

"They're moving fast." Miroku commented as he thrusted his hand through his hair.

"Yeah," Shippo huffed out, "they booked the church for this Sunday."

'Shit,' Miroku thought as a deep sigh escaped his mouth, he had completely forgotten the bit of information with everything else that was going on. "Okay, just keep watching him, maybe they'll leave for awhile so you can talk to him."

"On it." Shippo said before ending the call.

He looked at Kagome, he didn't have the heart to tell her that in just three days Inuyasha would be marrying Kikyo. He then recieved a text message from one of their employees saying that they needed a refill so they could sell again. He sighed as he started walking towards the door. "I have some business to do, I'll be back in a little bit."

"Okay." Sango nodded as she watched Miroku walk out of the room. She then looked back at Kagome, 'there has to be a way to get through to Inuyasha that we have Hiro, but how?' She couldn't come up with a concrete plan so she huffed out a sigh as she continued to comfort Kagome.

*X*

Inuyasha gritted his teeth as Kikyo sat as close to him as possible on the couch as she went on and on about how big of a wedding she wanted to have and how many people she wanted to invite.

"Do you even know all those people?" Inuyasha asked in an irritated grumble as he rested his elbow on the arm of the couch and his chin in the palm of his hand.

"Yes," Kikyo said with a giggle, "my family is very important to the community."

"And they all like you?" Inuyasha asked as he looked at Kikyo with a cocked eyebrow.

"Oh, stop, Yashie." Kikyo said with another giggle, oblivious to the fact that Inuyasha wasn't kidding.

Inuyasha gritted his teeth at the stupid nickname that she had for him but didn't say anything as she continued looking over wedding magazines.

"I thought you were broke, how are you going to afford a huge wedding?" Inuyasha asked as he placed his head back into his hand.

"Simple," Kikyo smiled as she circled something in the magazine, "I have your credit card, how do you think I paid for my wedding dress?"

"Of course you do." Inuyasha grumbled as he rolled his eyes.

"Come on, Yashie," Kikyo squealed standing up with the magazines in her hands, "we have to go order this stuff and get you fitted in a tux."

Really not wanting to but not seeing a way around it, Inuyasha heaved a sigh as he stood up to follow her and Naraku out of the house.

Arriving at the tux store and walking in, Kikyo went to work looking at all the tux selections that they had. "I think I want you to wear white as well." She pondered out loud as she continued to look at all the selections.

Inuyasha gnashed his teeth together at that idea, he hated wearing white unless it was a t-shirt or a wifebeater, he balled his hands up into fists but didn't say anything as a tailor came up and asked if they could be of help.

"Yes, I want my fiancé to be fitted in a white tux." Kikyo explained gesturing towards Inuyasha.

"Yes, of course." The tailor nodded as he led them towards a free spot as the tailor waved Inuyasha to stand on the platform.

Sighing and mentally rolling his eyes, Inuyasha stepped onto the platform and faced the mirror as the tailor got busy taking the measurements needed to get a tux made up for him.

Once the measurements were done the tailor walked away to find a suit that would work with the measurements that were taken. Coming back a short time later with a white tux that was paired with a black vest and white button-down shirt and a black tie. "Here, try this on." He instructed as he handed the tux to Inuyasha and pointed to a changing room that he could use to change into.

"Hold on." Kikyo spoke as she stepped closer to Inuyasha stopping him from walking into the changing room. "I don't want him wearing any black, the vest and tie needs to be white too."

"Um," The tailor mumbled looking unsure, "are you sure? That would be a lot of white, considering that his hair is white too, I think a splash of black would be just enough to make both his hair and his eyes pop - don't you think?"

"Maybe I didn't make myself clear." Kikyo hissed through her teeth, stepping closer to the tailor making him shrink back as sweat started pouring down his face. "I don't want him wearing any black, I am the customer and what I want I get so go find a white vest and a white tie." She growled as intimidation seeped out of her mouth.

"Y-yes, right away ma'am." The tailor stuttered as he ran away with his tail between his legs as he went to find a white vest.

Inuyasha mentally scoffed as he waited for the tailor to come back with the dreaded tux so he could try it on and leave, he really didn't want to be here doing this.

They only needed to wait a few minutes before the tailor came running back with a white tux, white vest, white button-down shirt and a white tie.

"That's more like it." Kikyo nodded in approval before turning to face Inuyasha. "Now, go try it on."

Inuyasha grumbled underneath his breath as he took the tux from the tailor and walked into the changing room. A few moments later, he came back out wearing the tux to show Kikyo.

Kikyo gasped and put her hands together in front of her face. "I love it! We'll take it!"

The tailor nodded as he ushered Inuyasha back on the platform so he could place pins in what needed to be adjusted. Once he was done, he gestured Inuyasha to go change back into his clothes as he turned to face Kikyo. "Okay, with the alterations that needs to be done, the tux will be ready for pick up on Monday."

"What? Monday?" Kikyo shrieked making the tailor flinch once again. "That won't work! I need it by Saturday at the latest!"

"Oh, uh, then you'll have to pay extra for an overnight adjustment to be done." The tailor informed as he looked at Kikyo.

"That won't be a problem." Kikyo replied with a nod as she handed over Inuyasha's platinum card.

The tailor took the card and scampered away as Inuyasha came back out in his clothes while holding the tux on the hanger. "Are we done here?" He asked grumpily.

"Don't be so grumpy," Kikyo smiled as the tailor came back with Inuyasha's card and handed it back to Kikyo with the receipt, "this is supposed to be a happy time." She said as she put the card back in her wallet as they walked out of the store.

Inuyasha grumbled as they left, he wouldn't be happy again until he was back by Kagome's side. 'Hurry up and find Hiro, Miroku.' He thought to himself as he got into the back seat of Naraku's car.

*The Wedding Day*

"They still haven't left him alone!?" Miroku shouted into the phone. He was out in the hallway talking to Shippo while Kagome rested.

"No, they haven't!" Shippo shouted back as he gripped his phone tighter. "There's nothing I can do! I can't get too close without one of them noticing!"

"Shit!" Miroku thrusted his hand through his hair, it was the morning of the wedding, and they weren't anywhere closer to getting Inuyasha back where he belongs. "Just keep watching." Miroku ordered with a sigh as he ended the call and made his way back into the room.

Sango was sitting on the edge of Kagome's bed as she ran her hand through the sleeping girl's hair. Kagome was able to have her IV taken out of her arm and was off of constant monitoring, they wanted to keep her a couple more days just to make sure she was good to go home - plus she still needed to talk with the therapist before she left. She also still had stitches in her that were still trying to heal, which was going slower than expected but didn't raise too much concern.

Hiro was still in a coma, though he was stable but still had a long way to recovering. He was on around the clock observation as well as getting back-to-back chemoradiation therapy due to his cancer growing some while he was in captivity. Kagome was sure to get round the clock updates on him and how he was doing, she was also able to go on walks to his room and spend a few hours with him.

"Anything yet?" Sango asked in a whisper so as not to wake the slumbering girl, she needed all the rest she could get.

"Afraid not." Miroku replied with a sigh and a shake of his head.

"What are we going to do?" Sango asked as her heart dropped in her chest. "Today's the wedding!" She said as she could feel the panic creep in her chest.

"I know!" Miroku hissed through his teeth as he turned around to face the back wall trying to come up with something, anything that could help them get Inuyasha back, but was drawing a blank as to what to do. "Damn it!" He growled out as he punched a hole through the wall right beside Inuyasha's hole, waking Kagome up in the process.

"What's going on?" Kagome sat up as she looked at Miroku then at the hole he made in the wall. "Is everything okay?"

"Nothing you need to worry about." Sango soothed as she continued to run her fingers through Kagome's hair.

Kagome looked at Sango with a determined look. "I want to know what you know. What made Miroku irritated enough to punch a hole in a hospital room's wall?"

"We have it handled." Sango tried again. "You really don't need to worry about it." She continued as Miroku gritted his teeth and looked at the floor as his hands balled up into fists.

Kagome noticed Miroku's posture and knew something happened that they didn't want her to know, but why? Why would they keep something from her unless - "Is Hiro okay?" She asked in a gasped as her heart dropped.

"Yes, Hiro is fine. He's still in a coma but is stable." Sango reassured soothingly as she placed her hand on her shoulder.

Kagome breathed a sigh of relief as she slumped back against the bed. "Then what is it, Sango? I can tell something is wrong."

"Kagome-"

"No, Sango, you need to tell me what is going on right now!" Kagome interrupted Sango.

Sango sighed as she looked down at the floor. "Shippo still can't get to Phantom, Naraku and Kikyo won't leave his side long enough for Shippo to get in and talk to him." She replied, telling the half-truth hoping that Kagome would accept it and drop the issue.

Kagome looked at Sango's posture and then at Miroku's, he was still staring at the floor with his hands bald up into fists and his teeth gnashed together so hard it's a wonder they didn't crack under the force.

"There's something else." Kagome whispered as she looked back at Sango. "What aren't you telling me?"

"Just tell her Sango!" Miroku growled out as he shot his head up to look at the two women in front of him. "She'll find out sooner or later anyways!"

Sango sighed as she looked back toward the ground. "Phantom and Kikyo's wedding is today, Shippo says it's getting ready to start."

"What!?" Kagome shrieked out as she sat up straighter. "Why didn't you tell me sooner?" She asked as she scrambled out of bed.

"What are you doing?" Sango asked as she moved to stand by Kagome trying to get her to get back into bed.

"I'm going to stop the wedding." Kagome replied as she shrugged her off as she put some pants on that the hospital provided as she instructed Miroku to tie her hospital gown in the back.

"I'll drive you." Miroku offered as they started walking towards the door.

"Miroku!" Sango shouted shocked.

"What Sango?" Miroku asked as he turned to face her.

"We can't just let her leave! She needs to heal some more!" Sango shouted in a panic, she did want to go get Inuyasha but not if it put Kagome in danger of dying - she was stuck in between a rock and a hard place.

"Do you have any other ideas?" Miroku asked as he arched an eyebrow. "Because I don't." He said before sighing as he watched Sango's eyes widen as she bit her bottom lip before looking towards the floor.

"But-" Sango whispered, she was terrified of losing both her brother and her best friend all in one day.

Miroku gently hooked Sango's chin with his finger so he could look into her eyes. "We don't have time for this, Sango, we need to hurry up if we want to get Phantom back."

Sango sighed but nodded. "Okay, let's go."

Miroku nodded back before looking at Kagome. "Let's go." He said before they all moved towards the door intending to meet some resistance from the hospital staff.

Kagome and the others walked out into the hallway and towards the exit, they were almost there when they got stopped by one of Kagome's nurses.

"Where are you going?" The nurse asked. "You shouldn't be out of bed right now."

Kagome sighed before turning around to face the nurse. "I'm leaving." She informed with all the intimidation she could put behind her voice.

"You haven't been released yet." The nurse stated.

"It doesn't matter, I have to leave." Kagome insisted as she turned around and reached out to grab the handle. "I don't have time for this."

However, before Kagome could place her hand on the door handle the nurse grabbed Kagome by the arm making her wince a little at the soreness in her arms. "You're not going anywhere."

Before Kagome could do anything, Miroku stepped forward looking all types of intimidating as he towered over the nurse. "You have but one chance to let her go if you don't want to get hurt."

The nurse looked back at Miroku before stupidly squaring up to him while still painfully gripping Kagome's arm. "I will not let her go until she is back in her bed!"

Sango sighed as she moved to jam her elbow into the nurse's gut, as the nurse doubled over in pain she let go of Kagome's arm allowing them to leave without further interference.

As they made it in the car, Miroku took out his phone and dialed a number before placing it to his ear. "What's the progress?" He asked as Shippo answered the phone.

"Kikyo just walked down the aisle." Shippo answered in a whisper just in case anyone was listening in. "If you're going to do something, better make it fast because you have minutes before it's too late."

"Working on it." Miroku responded before ending the call as he peeled out of the hospital's parking lot and sped down the street towards the curch. They drove for about ten minutes although it felt like an eternity. Just as they were about to arrive at the church the three of them run into stand still rush hour traffic. "Shit!" Miroku cursed as he hit the steering wheel.

"I know the church is just right down this street..." Kagome thought as she looked around. The church was only a couple blocks away from where they are now, she could make it on foot. Without saying a word to either Sango or Miroku, she flung her door open before making a dash towards the church.

'Please, don't let me be too late!' Kagome begged in her mind ignoring the angry shouts of people that had to jump out of her way to avoid being ran over by her.

"Kagome!" Miroku called as he opened his own door but just stood there. Sango just sat in her seat with her mouth wide open in shock. They watched her run away from the car and down the street heading to the church.

"Do you think I should run after her? She might hurt herself..." Sango spoke with concern written all over her face.

"I doubt she would want us to slow her down." Miroku shook his head in response as he got back in the car and waited for traffic to start moving again. They could only hope that Kagome makes it there in time.

Kagome pushed her legs to go faster as she ignored the pain shooting through her body. She turned down the sidewalk that led to the church she was heading for. She could feel her heart threatening to beat out of her chest as she pushed herself to go even faster.

"DAMN! GET OUT OF MY WAY!" Kagome demanded as she pushed her way through the busy sidewalk. She was so focused on what she was doing that she didn't even notice that she tore her stitches on her stomach out and was bleeding.

"I'm almost there, Inuyasha. I promise I'm coming for you." She huffed as she ran as fast as she could up what felt like a million stairs before she got to the church's double doors. She flung them opened before yelling, "I object!"

Hope you enjoyed this chapter! Until next time, bye!
