In the Twilight Manor, Finn was deep in thought over the Denatus. Things were not going exactly as planned as an old rival from the past had returned to bite him. To think that a young captain of the New Zeus Familia and a favored grandson of the tyrannical and difficult Hera would be strong enough to defeat a level six adventurer and people are already nicknaming him the Scion.
After the Denatus, he heard people whispering about them and the Freya Familia. Whispers that sounded like:
"It's about time someone gave them a dose of reality."
"Somehow, this does not surprise me."
"Who cares? The true strongest Familia has returned to show those upstarts how it's done!"
Finn has never been bothered by such rumors. But when Zeus and especially Hera are involved, it is now different story.
He thought. 'What are they planning now?'
His thoughts were interrupted by the door slamming open as Loki entered the room. In place of her usual friendly smile or mischievous grin, which she usually carried along with wine, was a serious and pissed-off expression.
"Even if Hera isn't here, you're still bothered by her."
"Bah!" Loki waved him off. "That divine wretched wench doesn't know when to quit. Instead of coming to Orario herself, she sends her 'grandson' just to taunt us."
"It shouldn't come out as a surprise," Rivera said as she entered the room. "Zeus and Hera probably have contingency plans that we didn't dare to consider or predict."
"And considering they've been the strongest for over a thousand years," Gareth joined in along with Ais, Lefiya, Bete, and the Hiryute Sisters. "Without a doubt, they have plenty of resources to rebuild and recover from the damage the Black Dragon has done to them. It only took them fifteen years to come back."
"But with the Scion who's capable of defeating a level six...," Lefiya spoke up in worry. "Who knows how many people like him are waiting to answer the call? And he wasn't lying about the people outside, was he?"
All of them turned to Loki. She sighed heavily and pinched the bridge of her nose. The Trickster couldn't stomach the idea of her rivals returning to destroy everything she and her Familia had worked so hard for. However, Evilius was more than willing to destroy everything.
"He wasn't lying about how we took their place," Loki said. "It's no secret that the title was given to us rather than earned."
"So what should we do with him?" Beta asked with his arms crossed.
"Nothing." Loki answered.
"Nothing?" The werewolf repeated with a raised eyebrow and just as he was about to say something again.
Finn beat him to it by saying, "If we try anything to incapacitate him or worse, eliminate him, we will not only be proving their point, but we will no longer be trusted and if necessary, every Equalizer Familias will come to Orario and declare martial law focused on us!"
"And Hera still has eyes and ears in the city," Tione spoke up. "Have you forgotten what he did to Vana Freya?"
Tiona said, "I heard from witnesses that he was faster than Allen and proceeded to beat him to a bloody pulp and thrashed him around like a ragdoll too."
"The Equalizers are known for being meticulous and always planning their way of attack," Gareth said. "They have plenty of experience when it comes to fighting against people regardless of their level, and they probably have come up ways to defeat us on a strategic way."
"Can he be reasoned with for a cooperation?" Ais question.
"Possibly," Riveria answered and turned to Bete. "If most of us can tolerate him for being critical with us and not bad mouth about his late family."
"Tsk," Bete clicked his tongue. "You all worry too much about one guy! Why don't you all cool off! I'm gonna go get a drink."
"Bete I don't think that's a good idea." Finn said in worry and considering Bete's tendencies. But his falls to deaf ears as the Werewolf left the room.
Finn groaned at the Werewolf's stubborn and turned to the others. "Find him."
"Welp, that's that." Loki stretched her arms and slouched on the sofa.
Bete walked out of the manor and went to a nearby tavern. On his way, people kept looking at him and muttered amongst themselves.
As a Werewolf, his natural hearing is better than those of the non-beast people. Their gossip irritated him as their topic are about them not being the strongest Familia.
"Just when you thought you're on top of the mountain."
Bete stopped in his tracks and turned to see a human standing before him. He quickly recognized him as of the weaklings he made fun of.
He ignored him, and he kept going. "Bet you thought you could beat Vana Freya."
"Yeah, I could," Bete responded. "Got a problem with that?"
"You could?" The man repeated. "Here's the thing, the Scion came out of that fight unscathed, and while Vana Freya got wrecked by him."
"Hmm," He thought deeply. "I'm curious if He could the same to you."
Bete had enough of him and grabbed him by the throat. The man's bravado faded, and the fear in his eyes became visible. He snarled.
"I've had enough of you little shit!"
Before he could give him a beating. He felt a tug from his jacket. The man was pulled away from his grasp, and Bete was on the ground, meters away from him. Standing before him was Bell Morningstar.
He glanced at the man. "Leave."
The man frantically nodded and left the area.
"What the hell do you think doing?!"
Bell simply replied. "Doing my job."
"I thought you're supposed hunting Evilus." Bete recalled on their first meeting.
"I also have to keep an eye on you for your recklessness," Bell said. "Unfortunately, Orario has no shortage of reckless people."
"So you're going to arrest me?!"
"Yes," The human replied. "You assaulted someone and disturbed the peace."
Bete growled. "He was asking for it!"
Bell sighed. "I dealt with assholes like you every day because you all lack tolerances."
He paced around Bete as he kept speaking. "They think they're all invincible. Nothing could touch them, hurt them, or even tell them what to do."
Bell stopped in front of Bete and gestured to him. "But deep down underneath all that bravado, there is a scared, insecure little boy who doesn't want to face his problems head on. Did... you lose your family?"
Bete clenched his fist, which didn't go unnoticed by Bell and said.
"Did you come to Orario to get stronger? So that you could avenge your family? But ended up having a second family in the first Familia, even becoming the captain before joining the Loki Familia?"
"You don't want to go their." Bete warned him.
Bell seemed unfazed, but Bete could see in his eyes as they lit up much to his dismay as Bell connected the dots.
"You did leave the city avenge your family," Bell deduced. "But when you came back, your old Familia was now in a critical state which they had to leave Orario. But you stayed behind."
"Why? because they were a lost cause now? or maybe you didn't want to handle the responsibility anymore."
Bete grew angry. "What first you want to arrest me, and now you're my therapist?!"
"You look the type of guy who doesn't want an appointment," Bell countered. "And besides, based on your level, you're probably the captain of your old Familia, so naturally it's your fault to begin with-"
Much to the shock of onlookers, Bete kicked Bell into a building, creating dustclouds over the wreckage.
"Shut up," He said. "It's not my fault for them to be so weak."
He turned to leave, Bete felt someone tap on his shoulder. He looked back only to be met with a fist to the face. Before he knew it, his face hit the ground with a thud.
Bete groaned and felt something in his mouth. He spat it, and it turns out to be his blood and his teeth. He was shocked sight and glared at Bell, who said.
"If I were you, I'd start counting my teeth."
Elsewhere in Orario
Allen was in Folkvangr's infirmary, recovering from his injuries inflicted by Bell Morningstar. He was reminiscing about his fight with the so-called Scion.
Flashback
After Allen and Bell landed in the hallway, his back hit the floor. Allen, being in a dominant position, raised his fist for a ground and pound. Vana Freya's fist collided with Bell's open palm and locked in a tight grip.
Allen tried to move his fist out of Bell's grip. But it was locked tight, Bell had an unimpressed look on his face. He kicked a troubled Allen high, and his back hit the ceiling. Allen fell, and just as he was about to hit the floor.
Bell's hand was on the back of his head, slamming him on the ground to increase the impact. A series of cracks etched across the floor. Allen tried to lift his head up.
But with Bell's hand still on his head, he struggled to do so. The Equalizer lifted his head up before slamming his face on the ground a second time, creating more cracks on the floor. He threw the catman to the wall. Allen groaned and opened his eyes. He narrowly dodged a fist from Bell as it caved in the structure.
"He's fast," Allen thought as he moved away from Bell.
But the Equalizer caught up quickly and stepped on his foot to prevent him from escaping. Bell got into Boxer's stance and started throwing punches at Allen. Vana Freya was forced into a similar stance. He was able to dodge Bell's attacks, but one managed to graze over his left eye, causing blood to flow over it.
Allen gritted his at the graze before he attempted to retaliate. Bell quickly threw a right hook to his liver. The air in Allen's chest exited from his mouth, sending him back in the wall.
Bell kept going at him and punched his face into the wall, his head caved in. He continuously punched him until Allen went limp. The Equalizer grabbed his neck and slammed against the other wall.
With a steely glare, he grinded Allen's face into the wall as he groaned. Feeling satisfied, he hurled Allen back at the Denatus.
Flashback end
Allen snapped back from his thoughts, He looked at his window to his surprise. He saw a dust cloud rising from the from the buildings.
Allen mused. "Who could've picked a fight with him this time."
