The late October sun streamed down the tinted car windows, casting thin warmth patches of light onto the young face of Susie Darling. As she leaned against the window, taking in the cool breeze that ruffled through her blonde pigtails while her father drove slowly down the familiar streets of their quite suburban neighborhood. The rhythm hum of the engine punctuated the cheerful banter spilling out from the back seat into the front. ''I can't believe we're finally having our late October pizza sleepover tonight!'' exclaimed Charlie Woods, practically singing the words, barely able to contain her excitement. Squirming in her seat, Susie could see her friend practically vibrating with joy. Since kindergarten, Charlie had always know exactly what ignored Susie's spirt, ending up with them becoming the closest of friends, able to bounce off of one another so easily, most couldn't see one without the other. ''I know! There's going to be so many good toppings! I'll probably turn into a piece of pepperoni!'' Susie giggled, as she doubled over in pure joy. Both girls then exploded with joy, as their imagination raced with delicious fantasies of gooey cheese, slices adorned with vibrant pepperoni, and the pools of fresh tomato and garlic sauce. ''Just imagine the cheese pulls! We could fill our plates and challenge each other to see who can make the longest string,'' Charlie suggested, eyes gleaming with pure mischief. ''And what if we added pineapple on a quarter of it? Just to throw some excitement in there?''
''Uh, Pineapple? You know I can't stand pineapple on pizza! But it would make a good idea for another challenge? We could get everyone to vote on the worst toppings?'' Susie replied, clutching her stomach as another wave of giggles washed over them, the car practically exploding in pure joy and happiness as a carefree melody danced through the air. However the background seemed to fade as Susie found her thoughts shifting. There was still something special about this night - a tiny spark of adventure and curiosity she couldn't seem to shake, the more she thought about it. Tonight, they would be venturing to Freddy Fazbear's pizzeria, the enchanted realm where childhood dreams mingled, mixing with the fresh scent of pizza, and joyful music, as the kids danced with the animatronics. The core three, Bonnie, Freddy, and Chica, the chicken. How she had always found herself dancing with Chica the last few times she'd gone, there was just something about that specific animatronic that had her pulling to get to her. Perhaps it had something to do with the fact they shared a similar color palet with her hair being blonde, and Chica's being yellow. ''Just imagine it, Susie! We're actually going to be the first one in our class to have a sleepover at a pizzeria!'' Charlie said enthusiastically, pulling Susie back into the car, as she found her light colored eyes. ''When everyone hears about it, they're going to be so jealous!''
''Right? We'll have so much pizza and there will be so many games to play,'' Susie said, her heart soaring with the thought of all the fun they would have. ''And we'll get to hang out in the game room, too. Don't think I forgot about the arcade.'' Charlie said as she sat back in her seat. ''Yeah! With all those old-school games,'' Susie's voice was bubbling with energy as she continued. ''I can't wait to beat you in whatever you pick! I've been practicing for this all week! Saved up my faz coins and everything!'' Charlie was smiling wider now. As the car approached Maplewood Elementary, Susie's pulse quickened as she scanned the surroundings, as they went past the windows, not just from the thrill of their grand plants for that evening, but from the warm, welcome feelings that came with all the memories of her past travels of Freddy Fazbear's. She shifted in her seat, as the school loomed just ahead, with its familiar red brick facade, standing proud under the blue autumn sky. ''Alright, my little pizza chefs, we have arrived!'' her father pronounced, parking in front of the bustling schoolyard where other students were already gathering, awaiting for their teacher Mrs. Juliet to be allowed into the school. The lively chatter and the sound of laughter wafted throughout the air, full of youthful energy and promise as Susie said goodbye to her father as together, she and Charlie went to join the other kids.
''Don't forget to remind me about the pizza toppings at lunch break!'' Susie called to Charlie as they climbed out of the car, her heart humming with anticipation. The thought of their gathering was only sweetened by her imagination of what awaited them at the pizzeria later that evening. ''Oh, I won't! Extra pepperoni and sausage, right?!'' Charlie replied, her grin stretching from ear to ear. As Susie waved goodbye to her father as the small vehicle road out of the parking lot, she couldn't help but feel a flicker of magic in her heart. Tonight promised laughter and friendship, but it also hinted at something deeper, something waiting in the shadows of Freddy Fazbears. With memories of Chica flickering in the back of her mind, she stepped onto the school grounds, ready to face the day, oblivious to how the night would wave together her realities, dreams, and the unexpected. As the two girls joined the throng of students milling about the schoolyard, the energy in the air crackled with anticipation. The leaves rustled gently in the breeze, their vibrant autumn colors painting the landscape in shadows of gold and amber. Susie could hear snippets of conversations - talk of future Halloween costumes, weekend plans, of course, the much - discussed sleepover pizza party. It would appear that she and Charlie weren't the only two who'd known of it, I mean it was Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, after all.
''Okay, let's find a good spot before Mrs. Juliet shows up,'' Charlie said as she pulled Susie with her towards the swings. ''We can make up a game plan for our pizza later.''
''Definitely! And I want to purpose the pineapple challenge idea too,'' Susie added, her mind racing with ideas to keep the fun going. As they plopped down on the swings, legs kicking out, propelling themselves higher into the crisp autumn air, Susie's thoughts were racing in excitement. ''Pineapple on pizza is a sacrilege, Susie.'' Charlie gasped dramatically, clutching her chest in mock horror. ''We might as well serve it with a side of pickles, and you know pickles are like my krpyonite.''
''Hey! Nobody said anything about pickles! That's crossing a line!'' Susie agreed, before she let out a laugh, imagining all manner of strange toppings. However, the ringing of the school bell echoed through the yard, cutting their playful banter short. ''Uh-oh, it's time to go in now.'' Charlie said, as she hopped off the swing in sync with Susie. ''How about we brainstorm some more during lunch break?''
''Agreed.'' replied Susie, her heart still racing with excitement for the day ahead. As the students filed into the school, Susie fell into step alongside Charlie, as the hallways began bustling with loud chatter and joyful laughter. A poster for the upcoming Halloween dance adorned the wall, it's garish colors only adding to the school's festive spirt, however being only ten years old, Susie knew she wouldn't be able to attend, which was okay, seeing as she'd rather be going trick or treating that night anyhow. As she collected her things, walking down the hallway, towards her classroom, she was welcomed by Mrs. Juliet with her usual warm smile as a woman with light brown hair tied back in a ponytail, walked into the room. Today, they'd be working on a group project about the seasons, splitting up into pairs to create posters illustrating their favorite seasonal activities. ''This is the perfect time for a fall-themed poster! We can include a picture of us having our pizza party.'' Whispered Charlie as they settled into their seats next to one another, Susie's bright pink backpack tangling on the back of her chair, as she began gathered every thing she was going to need for the project. ''Great idea! We can even draw ourselves wearing silly hats while we hold slices of pizza.'' Susie grinned, as she got ready to sketch a faux pizza slice in her notebook.
As the class rolled on, the day seemed to drift on by like a leaf on a gentle breeze. Mrs. Juliet's voice was lost in a pleasant haze of thoughts about pizzas, games, the laughter they would be sharing in at least half an hour. But beneath Susie's excitement simmered a quite anticipation for the evening ahead - a night steeped in both joy and the unknown. Yet, as excited as she was, a flicker of nervousness lurked near by. She had never slept away from home before. The only way her parents had agreed to let her join was if there would be adults supervising the kids, but they weren't her parents. A part of her didn't want to sleep alone. What if she felt scared at night, who was going to comfort her? ''Hey, are you okay?'' Charlie's voice broke through her thoughts, concern etched onto her features, as she searched her friend's frightened blue eyes. Susie hesitated for a moment, then swiftly nodded, the smile coming back to her face, as she didn't want to seem afraid in front of Charlie, not when she'd been so looking forward to it. ''Yeah, just thinking about all the fun we're gonna have tonight!''
''Are you sure?'' Charlie pressed, her bright green eyes wide with empathy. ''You know it'll be right there with you? We can stay up late watching the animatronics and eating pizza! It'll be awesome.''
''Yeah, I know, you're right,'' Susie replied, the warmth of her friend's enthusiasm lifting her spirits. ''Besides, we'll just distract ourselves with games, won't we?'' She took a deep breath, that initial twinge of nerves slowly melted away as she nodded her head. ''Exactly! And who knows, maybe Freddy Fazebear will even come to life! We might end up having one crazy adventure!'' Charlie's eyes sparkled with mischief as she let out that last part. ''I mean, everyone who's ever gone says he moves at night?''
''Eek! Don't joke about things like that. I'm going to keep a watchful eye on you, then!'' Susie laughed, shaking her head as they continued sketching their poster. They filled the paper before them with images of falling leaves, pumpkins, and their beloved pizza party. Never forgetting to add the funny hats to their image, as Susie stared into the colored eyes of her drawing lookalike.
