For once, despite having never been a morning person, Yang finds herself awake very early the next morning. When she glances out the window, she can see that the sun has just barely started to creep above the horizon. Well, given the task ahead of them, being up with the sun is a good thing. They're going to need the extra time to figure out what happened to Ruby.
First, though, she needs to get some coffee. There's no way she's going to make it through today without caffeine in her system.
It turns out that Yang isn't the only one of her teammates who's up early this morning. When she climbs down from her bunk, she finds both Blake and Weiss sitting at the small table in their dorm room, sipping coffee and chatting quietly. Seeing Weiss in particular awake this early is pretty surprising, given how much the other girl likes her beauty sleep, but given what happened to Ruby, maybe it isn't that surprising after all.
Weiss is Ruby's partner. She must be as torn up about what happened to Ruby as Yang feels.
"Good to see that you're awake," Blake greets her with a tired smile. Both she and Weiss look as exhausted as Yang feels. It looks like none of them really slept well last night, despite Blake's advice to get some rest.
"Is there any coffee left for me?" Yang asks in reply, taking a seat next to Blake.
"Of course," her partner responds, sliding a cup over to Yang.
"Thank you." She removes the little cover from the top of the mug and takes a long sip. The coffee is piping hot, but Yang's semblance means that she never has to worry about burning her mouth. (Ruby was always jealous about that little perk.)
"We were talking about our plans for the day," Weiss announces, sounding much more subdued than normal. "Obviously we should start looking for any information we can find about the string of suicides and any case information that's out there, but one of us should go and sit with Ruby once visiting hours start at the hospital."
"One of you should go," Yang tells her teammates reluctantly. As much as she wants to go and see Ruby again, to remind herself that her sister is going to be okay, she already got to visit Ruby yesterday. Weiss and Blake deserve a chance to visit her as well.
"Why don't you go, Weiss?" Blake suggests. "Yang and I will head down to the station. We'll try to find out what we can about what Ruby was looking into."
"Sounds like a plan," Weiss says gratefully. "Let me know if you two need any help on your end, okay?"
"We will," Blake assures her. "We're going to figure this out. Together."
