Jeez, this place is depressing. Ruby can't really blame anyone living here for feeling miserable, even if it turns out that there isn't any Grimm messing with them. From what she can see of the outside of the apartments, they look about as gloomy and lonely as Ruby herself feels. Even though the building is on the outer edge of town, something about this area feels especially lonely and isolated.

Honestly, Ruby's starting to wonder if anyone is even here right now. She wouldn't be surprised if it turns out that everyone who lives here tries to spend as much time away as possible. Ruby wouldn't blame them.

It does make her job a bit more difficult though if no one is home. Sure, Ruby is a big girl. She can take a look around here on her own, without any help. (Unless of course, things start to seem dangerous, in which case she'll have to call for backup.) But nothing about this place really seems threatening. The whole place just feels . . . really, really sad. There's an emptiness here that Ruby can feel gnawing at her with every passing moment.

Something about the feeling is oddly familiar, but she can't quite figure out why.

Well, enough standing around feeling sorry for herself. Ruby has a job to do here, after all. Without anyone to give her a first hand account of what they might have seen and felt, Ruby is going to have her work cut out for her. This place isn't very big, but searching it thoroughly is going to take a good amount of time and effort.

And even once she finishes that, assuming that she doesn't stumble across any signs of Grimm that she'll need to report, Ruby is sure that the rest of her day is going to be equally draining. Dealing with the rest of her team, the refugee crisis, and trying to come up with ways to deal with Salem that ultimately go nowhere leaves her plate pretty full these days.

Once upon a time, Ruby considered herself an optimist. These days even thinking about trying to look on the bright side makes her feel tired.

Just as she's about to assume that nobody's home and she really is alone here, Ruby spots a flutter of movement out of the corner of her eye, to the side of the main entrance. "Hello?" she calls out, hoping that she's not just imagining things and that she's not just talking to herself. "Is anybody there?"
