"Maybe we should work together," Ginny suggested.
"As much as it pains me to admit it, I agree," Lucius said with a grim smile. "Truce?"
"Truce," Ginny agreed, shaking Lucius' hand.
"Why are we here of all places?" Harry complained in an undertone to Ginny as they followed Lucius into the drawing room of Malfoy Manor.
"You'll see," Ginny replied evasively. Unseen by Harry, Ginny slipped his wand from his pocket.
"Just through here, Mr Potter," Lucius said, indicating the door in front of him. "Guests first."
Lucius held the door open. Quick as a flash, Ginny gave him a push into the cupboard, sending him tumbling into Draco, who had tried to use the opportunity to escape. Lucius closed the door and locked it, sharing a triumphant grin with Ginny.
"Hey," Harry called, banging on the door. "What are you doing?"
"Giving you and Draco a chance to come clean about your undeniable feelings for each other," Ginny called through the door.
"We'll let you out once you've admitted your feelings for each other," Lucius said.
"This is stupid," Draco shouted. "I don't have feelings for Potter!"
"Like I'd have feelings for you," Harry scoffed.
"Father, let me out now," Draco yelled as he and Harry banged their fists on the door.
"Once you've admitted your feelings for each other," Lucius said.
"You're diabolical." Ginny grinned at Lucius. "I love it."
"Why, thank you," Lucius gloated. "Would you care for some scones? I just baked them this morning. And some tea?"
"Oo, yes please," Ginny replied, taking the seat that Lucius indicated as he summoned a house-elf.
Lucius sat down in his winged armchair when the house-elf reappeared with their tea and scones. Harry and Draco were continuing to hammer to the cupboard door, shouting about how much they hated each other and wanted out. Lucius and Ginny ignored them.
Lucius poured them some tea and handed Ginny a plate for her scone.
"Is that fresh clotted cream?" Ginny asked lightly, as though taking tea and scones at Malfoy Manor while her brother's best friend was locked in a cupboard was an everyday occurrence.
"It is. Only the best in this house, naturally," Lucius said, helping himself to a scone.
"Naturally," Ginny said with a tinkling laugh.
"Here's to a more peaceful life for us both after this," Lucius remarked.
Ginny smirked and sipped her tea daintily.
"Here's hoping."
