Awhile ago I saw a post on tumblr about a what if for the episode Risk where they lost control of Penny and everyone ended up having to chase her and Ruby all the way to the vault, and I thought that might be interesting to explore, so this is a take on that idea. Enjoy!
Ruby isn't sure what's going on or how to fix it, but she does know one thing: she won't let go of Penny. Not when she's already come so close to losing her friend-again. Not when it's clear that Penny is really struggling with something, something that's trying to take her away from them.
But Ruby isn't letting that happen. Not again. So even as Penny breaks free of the hold that her friends have on her, she doesn't let go. She just holds on tighter, struggling to maintain her grip as the wind picks up around her and Penny's body contorts under her hands, struggling to throw her off.
It doesn't matter if Ruby has to cling to her friend and hang on all the way to wherever it is that she's being pulled, she's not going to let Penny go without a fight. Whatever is happening to her friend, they'll face it together.
