Chapter 1: A New Frontier
Our story takes place in the town of Bellwood. In a room in a house, a 16-year-old boy is packing a bag full for some kind of trip. The boy has shaggy brown hair, green eyes, and pale peach skin, and wearing a black shirt with green stripes going down the sleeves and the middle with a white number 10 on the chest, underneath a white hooded jacket with green stripes on both arms and a green number 10 on the right side, brown cargo pants with pockets at the knees, green and white shoes, and a white and green wristwatch on his left wrist. This boy is the hero of Earth and known savior of the universe, Ben Tennyson. And that wristwatch of his, is one of the most, if not the most powerful device in the entire universe, the Omnitrix.
"Okay, essential items only," Ben said as he kept packing. "Toothbrush, toothpaste, hair gel, extra clothes, communicator, iPhone, iPad, charger, Nin10do Snap, video games, journal, comic books, hoverboard, Mr. Smoothie plastic cup, and... I don't think my bean bag is going to fit in here... Oh well."
When Ben had everything that he needed for the trip, he zipped up his bag and looked at the clock. "I don't think I'm going to make it to the train to Friedkin University. And going by foot will take ages. Well, the age of a second as XLR8." Ben walks out the front door of his parents' house with his bag, and bids his parents goodbye. He then taps on the Omnitrix, turns the dial and taps on it again and a green flash engulfs Ben. When the flash dies down, he now resembles a semi-armored Velociraptor. He has black orbs on his feet and wears a black conoid helmet with a black visor with a blue X-like marking on it, which covers a blue face with green eyes, black lips, and stripes above and on the right side of his eyes. He has four blue stripes on his tail, and wears black pants and a turtleneck-like shirt with a green stripe on the center that also covers the entire neck and the Omnitrix symbol was on his chest. This alien is known as XLR8.
"Oh good, the Omnitrix is giving me what I want this time around," Ben said before extracting his visor and speeding off faster than the speed of sound. Ben was thinking about the road trip that he was going to have with his friends and knew that it would be a real blast. It has been 2 weeks since he defeated Maltruant and watched the universe, by extension the multiverse, being created by the Contemelia. He was looking forward to seeing the big multiverse that he helped save. He was also looking forward to getting a smoothie for the road on the way to his destination.
Meanwhile at Friedkin University, a Revonnahgander was waiting outside the campus in an orange and white truck. He was tall, with periwinkle-blue colored fur, black markings on his face, and pointed ears. The middle of his face, was white. He carries the white and black, gun-like device on his shoulder called the Proto-Tool and wears very durable blue-and-black Proto-Tech Armor. His name was Rook Blonko, and he was waiting for Ben, Gwen, and Kevin. Right on cue, Ben as XLR8 arrived just beside Rook's window.
"Hey Rook, how's it going? Are Gwen and Kevin here yet?" Ben asked before turning back to normal.
"They will be here eventually Ben," Rook responded.
When the bell rung for summer break, many students were leaving the school. Two people of the crowd were approaching Ben and Rook. One was a teenaged girl with freckles, blue eyes, and red hair in a ponytail, who wore a white shirt under a dark blue sweater, a black mini skirt, long white socks that went up to her knees, black mary janes, and a pair of blue glasses. Her name was Gwen Tennyson, Ben's cousin. The other person was tall and muscular young man with dark brown eyes with black marks around them, shoulder-length black hair, a few whiskers under his chin, and a cross-shaped scar on his chin. He wore a grey, striped, long-sleeved shirt with slightly torn sleeves, under a black shirt with a roughly cut collar and sleeves, blue holsters, blue pants with a small tear below the left knee, and a padlock necklace marked with an "11". His name was Kevin Levin. He was accompanied by a dinosaur and dog-like alien, that was dark blue in color, with spike-like hair running down from her collar to the tip of her tail, sharp red eyes and black lines on her neck and legs, and wears a light blue collar with a gold bone-shaped dog tag. This was Kevin's Anubian Baskurr, Zed. Kevin and Gwen were carrying bags for their little trip with Ben and Rook.
"Hey Ben," Gwen greeted prepared and looking forward to the road trip.
"Sup Ben," Kevin greeted in a cool tone.
"Hey Gwen. Hey Kevin," Ben replied, getting a scowl from Gwen, "Fine. Hey Gwendolyn. Better?"
"Yep," Gwen replied with a much more satisfied look.
"So, how was college," Ben asked Gwen.
"The usual: aced some tests, wrote essays, tutored some peers," Gwen responded like it was no big deal.
"I haven't seen you wear something like that in months. Looks great on you." Ben said.
"What can I say, just feeling a bit nostalgic," Gwen replied feeling complimented.
"Kevin, you're taking Zed on the trip?" Ben asked Kevin.
"Why not? She's adventurous," Kevin replied.
"Surprised you're not taking your car with us," Ben said.
"Who said I wasn't," Kevin replied pointing to a blue car tied down to a trailer hooked up to Rook's Proto-TRUK.
Ben turned around, just noticing this.
"How did I not notice that?" Ben asked himself unsurprised.
"So, ready for the road trip?" Ben asked.
"Yep. It's been a while since we did one of these." Gwen responded.
"Yeah, good times," Kevin said.
Everyone got into the Proto-TRUK, with Rook in the driver seat, Ben in shotgun, and Kevin, Gwen, and Zed in the back. Everyone, except Rook, noticed an familiar engine in the back of the Proto-TRUK, between the two seats, hooked up to a bunch of outlets.
"What's with the extra engine?" Ben asked.
"You remember that 23rd Mr. Smoothy owned by Professor Hokestar, right?" Rook asked, recieving a nod from Ben, "I asked him where he got the Warp Field Generator used to send his store between universes. He told me that he paid a lot of money for it and that it was worth the price. He apparently had it specially ordered from a Galvan and Cerebrocrustacean collaboration. I found the pair that he informed me of, and I bought it from them. And it was on sale for just 5,000 taydons. I had to borrow it from Kevin's taydenite car."
"It's cool, just remember to pay me back," Kevin responded.
"Wait, so this is a dimension-skipping Proto-TRUK?" Ben asked.
"Yes," Rook replied.
"Wait, when it skips dimensions, it won't leave my car behind, will it?" Kevin asked with concern in his voice.
"No... probably... probably not... I am not certain," Rook curiously said, "Let us find out."
With that Rook pushed a button and the Proto-TRUK disappeared, as well as the trailer and Kevin's car. The Proto-TRUK is seen floating in a strange rainbow void before there is a bright flash. The Proto-TRUK reappears in a forest in a unknown location.
"You didn't say anything about the road trip being across the multiverse Rook," Ben said.
"I wanted it to be a surprise," Rook explained, "Are surprises not popular among Earth?"
"I didn't say it was a bad thing," Ben said.
"Wait, is my car still here?" Kevin asked with concern.
Kevin got out of the Proto-TRUK and saw his car on the trailer in the back.
"Thank the Celestialsapiens," Kevin sighed in relief.
"So, what dimension is this?" Gwen asked, studying the scenery.
"I do not know," Rook said, "Ben, have you been here?"
"No, this is actually a new frontier," Ben claimed.
"At least my car is in perfect condition," Kevin said.
The gang looked at Kevin with semi-annoyed, semi-confused looks on their faces.
"What?" Kevin asked.
A few minutes earlier in a campsite not too far away from the location of our heroes...
A pair of young kids were spending time outside their camper van. One of these kids was a 10-year-old boy with green eyes and brown hair, wearing a black and green shirt with the number 10 on the top left corner, dark green cargo shorts, white socks, black low profile sneakers and a high-tech looking green, white, and gray wristwatch on his left wrist. This boy was this dimension's version of Ben Tennyson, with this dimension's version of the Omnitrix. The other kid was a 10-year-old girl with short red hair, green eyes, and fair skin, wearing a white shirt under a blue t-shirt with a black cat face on the front, light brown shorts, blue and white striped socks, blue and white converse-like shoes, and a blue hairclip to pin her hair to the left side of her face. This was this dimension's version of Gwen Tennyson.
The two kids were waiting for the campfire to be started by and elderly man. The elderly man has and white hair and brown eyes, and wears a white shirt under a red Hawaiian shirt with orange clovers on it, a brown cargo vest on top of the Hawaiian shirt, blue jeans, brown shoes, and a brown and gold watch on his right arm. This was their Grandpa Max Tennyson.
"How long has it been?" Gwen asked in a bored tone.
"I don't know, I lost count after 1 hour," Ben replied.
The two cousins were obviously getting impatient, after all Max's record for starting a campfire was 'only' three hours.
"You know what, why don't we kill the time by doing something," Gwen suggested.
Ben suddenly perked up. "I have a small idea in mind," he said.
A few minutes later...
Gwen had her phone out and was filming Ben.
"You sure this is going to work Ben?" Gwen asked.
"Perfectly sure," Ben said confidently, "Heatblast can generate fire from his hands, so he can do the same with his feet right?"
"Well, it does seem like a possibility," Gwen said, "But please be careful."
"I'm always careful," Ben said before slamming his Omnitrix, causing his body to flash green. When the flash died down, he was a magma-based lifeform whose body is composed of a bright yellow inner magma body covered by red rocks, his feet have a slight oval-like design with only two toes, and his head was lit a blaze with a skull-like in the middle, and the Omnitrix symbol was on his collarbone. This alien was known as Heatblast.
"You rolling?" Ben asked.
"Yep," Gwen said.
"Good," Ben said, "Then let's do this."
Ben put his arms straight down, ignited fire from his hands and feet, and started floating.
"See, I told you this would work," Ben said.
Ben was floating in the air, though it was a bit unsteady, as Gwen was filming him. Ben decided to turn up the flames to fly even higher, and started flying around in the air, but he lost control and had no brakes. He crash landed not too far from the campsite but a large distance from it.
"Ben!" Gwen, worried about her cousin immediately stopped filming and ran after Ben.
Elsewhere...
Ben, Rook, Gwen, and Kevin were trying to pinpoint where they were, and what they would plan to do on their trip. Meanwhile, Zed was resting beside the Proto-TRUK.
"I am not certain, but I think we are in Dimesion 2," Gwen said after using her mana powers to locate what universe they were in.
"Yep, I'm not familiar with this place," Ben said.
"I will recharge the warp field generator, the rest of you feel free to explore, just try not to wander too far," Rook said as he went back into the Proto-TRUK.
"Curious how you have never been to this universe, Ben, considering you've been to many other universes and timelines," Kevin said.
"Well maybe I just-" Ben was cut off when the gang heard a loud crash that woke up Zed and alerted the rest.
"What was that?" Ben asked.
Zed went to where the crash was heard, and was followed by Ben.
At the crash site
Reboot Ben, as Heatblast, was slowly getting up from his crash and was surprised to see a dinosaur-dog-like alien standing so close to him and making eye contact.
"Woah!" Reboot Ben said in shock, "Easy? Nice doggy? Good doggy? Maybe I got a stick for you."
Just then, the Omnitrix timed out leaving Reboot Ben defenseless until the Omnitrix timed back in.
"Zed, could you come back? Kevin is worried and- Huh?" Prime Ben noticed Zed in front of this world's version of himself. Ben called off Zed, who returned to the Proto-TRUK. The two Bens locked eye contact as Prime Ben helped his Reboot self back up.
"Who are you?" Reboot Ben asked.
"Don't worry, I think you and I are sort of related," Prime Ben said, showing Reboot Ben his Omnitrix.
"Are you saying you are a long-lost relative of mine?" Reboot Ben asked.
"No, I am you from another universe," Prime Ben said, surprising his Reboot counterpart.
"Dude!" Reboot Ben said, thrilled and shocked by the sudden turn of events.
"I know, right?" Prime Ben said.
