Totally Spies: Clover's Totally Fabulous Birthday
Chapter 9
After flying in the WOOHP jet to the abandoned industrial complex that Jerry described to them, the spies were parachuting down out of the jet into the complex. All of the spies were wearing their catsuits. As soon as they landed, the spies ditched their parachutes.
"Alright," Sam spoke. "According to the compowder's GPS, the signal Jerry traced is coming from that warehouse right over there."
Sam pointed to the large warehouse just nine feet away from them.
"Hmm, this seems way too easy," Britney speculated.
"Well, maybe easier than a gigantic island barge," Blaine spoke.
"Or a cold ski resort," Stella added.
"Or a leaky submarine," Alex added.
"What are we waiting for?" Clover spoke. "Let's go rescue my sister!"
"Wait, Clover," Alex interjected. "We can't just rush in there, the kidnapper's obviously waiting for us!"
"Well, yeah, but there's nothing else we can do right now," Clover countered. "Daisy's in trouble and we gotta rescue her!"
"Clover's right about that, but still, we have to proceed with caution," Sam chimed in. "There's no telling what we're up against."
"No time, let's just go!" Clover started running toward the warehouse.
"Clover, wait!" Sam called out.
Sam, Alex, Britney, Blaine and Stella followed Clover over to the warehouse.
As soon as they reached the warehouse, Clover looked at the door. She noticed a lock on it.
"Locked," Clover groaned. She then smirked. "Good thing we have the spare key."
Clover took her laser lipstick gadget out of her pocket.
"Why would the baddies tell us to come here and then lock the door?" Alex wondered aloud.
"They're probably expecting us to be able to break in," Blaine guessed.
"I agree," Sam chimed in. "This does seem way too easy."
"Well, unfortunately, it's the only way we'll be able to rescue Daisy," Clover pointed out.
She used the laser lipstick to zap a small laser which broke the lock apart. Then, Clover stepped back and unleashed a kick which knocked the door open.
Clover and the others then slowly moved inside the warehouse. So far, it was dark and there was nothing that could be seen.
"I don't see anything in here," Blaine said quietly.
Suddenly, they heard a faint sound of a muffled voice that sounded like it was trying to yell for help.
"What's that?" Sam said in a whisper, trying to listen for the sound.
Then all of a sudden, the door slammed shut behind them.
"The door!" Alex shouted.
Just then, a light switched on in the center of the warehouse. And to the spies shock, below the light was Daisy, tied up to a chair and gagged. She was struggling in the chair and letting out muffled screams.
"Daisy!" Clover cried. Clover tried to run to her sister.
All of a sudden, a bunch of men with laser gun gadgets wearing masks and grey jumpsuits jumped down from the ceiling and surrounded the spies. The spies got into fighting stances as the men surrounded them. Also jumping down from the ceiling was Agent Beta with a laser gun gadget. He pointed his laser at Daisy.
"That's close enough," Agent Beta said in a firm voice. "Make any moves and the girl is history."
Clover snarled at the black-suited man.
"You release my daughter right this second you freakishly dressed hooligans!" Stella demanded with a snarl.
Agent Beta shook his head, "I'm afraid I can't do that.
"We were right, it is a trap!" Alex said in alarm.
Suddenly, a young female British voice was heard out of nowhere.
"You knew it was a trap and yet you still came to rescue your precious little friend," the voice taunted. "You good guys are so predictable."
"Who's there?!" Sam demanded.
Grace Husk stepped out of the shadows next to the chair that Daisy was tied to.
"Greetings, spies," Grace greeted with a smirk. "So glad you could come. I've been wanting to meet you for some time."
"Who are you?!" Clover demanded.
"And what do you want from us?!" Alex added.
"Oh, how rude of me," Grace spoke. "My name is Grace Husk."
"Grace Husk?!" Alex repeated in shock.
"So you're Mistress Husk!" Sam said in realization.
"You catch on quick," Grace said. "I am indeed the one responsible for your… misfortunes at the Groove earlier today."
"So you were the one who stole the suds and used them on Mandy?!" Clover said.
"And sent her to attack us?!" Alex added.
"Correct on all counts," Grace confirmed. "It was all part of my scheme to get my Aunt out of prison and get revenge on you rotten spies for locking her up."
"'Aunt'?" Britney repeated in confusion.
"Wait, is Geraldene your Aunt?!" Clover asked in shock.
"Indeed," Grace confirmed with a prideful bow.
"Guess I do see the family resemblance," Blaine commented, noting the similar traits that Grace had to Geraldene.
"I only recently decided to become a super-villain not only to follow in my Aunt Geraldene's footsteps, but also to get revenge against you," Grace explained.
"Hmph, guess being an evil witch runs in the family," Clover groaned with her arms crossed.
Grace growled at Clover's comment.
"My aunt has told me about the numerous times you foiled her plans," Grace continued. "And she also told me about her intense hatred for you, Clover."
Clover scoffed, "Well, I'm not nuts about her after what she did the last time I saw her."
"That makes two of us," Blaine chimed in.
"Oh, yeah, I understand that Aunt Geraldine once tricked you into trying to kill your dear ex-girlfriend, isn't that right, 'Blainey'?" Grace taunted.
Blaine snarled.
"Oh, don't feel bad, Blaine," Grace said with a sick grin. "You're not the only person my Aunt managed to completely dupe at that time." She looked at Sam and Alex with a mocking look, "Isn't that right, Sam and Alex?"
"Don't even go there," Sam said with so much venom in her voice.
"Or you'll regret it!" Alex added in an equally angry tone.
"Wow, guess I struck a nerve," Grace said. "And just for good measure, how about I bring up how Clover's dear mother made her quit being a spy and tried to keep her apart from her friends? Little overly harsh and a bit overprotective if you ask me. And yet, you ended up becoming a spy yourself along with Sam and Alex's mothers. A bit hypocritical, don't you think?"
Stella snarled at that.
"Oh and just for the heck of it, let's talk about how your dear friend Britney completely blundered with that training helmet and ended up with the personalities of three villains in her brain," Grace continued taunting.
"How could you possibly know about that?" Britney asked in bewilderment.
"I know how to gather reliable intel," Was all Grace said.
"You've got some nerve, talking about my friends like that!" Clover snarled.
"Aw, don't like it when people mock your dear friends and family, do you, Clover?" Grace said in a sickeningly sweet voice. "How sweet of you."
Ignoring Grace, Clover demanded, "Just cut to the chase already! Why did you kidnap my sister?!"
"I'm glad you asked," Grace responded. "I actually had two plans for getting my Aunt out of prison. The first one involved turning Mandy and her family into spy-sassins and sending them to destroy you spies so that I could bust out my Aunt without any interference from you. Of course, Mandy was supposed to capture Clover so I could present her to my Aunt personally."
"So that's why you wanted to kidnap Clover?" Sam surmised.
"Indeed," Grace said with a nod. "I knew that Aunt Geraldene didn't have a fond opinion of Clover so I decided to try giving Clover to her as a little present."
Clover growled at that.
"When that plan failed…" Grace continued. "I already had a Plan B in place."
"Let me guess," Sam chimed in. "To kidnap Daisy so you could use her to lure us into a trap?"
"Yes," Grace answered. "I knew that using Clover's dear sister as bait would make you leap into action without even thinking, even though you figured it might be a trap. Especially you, Clover. You were in such a rush to save your precious little sister that you didn't even care about whether or not you would end up being trapped."
Clover growled at Grace's taunts.
"And now that I have you all where I want you…" Grace spoke. "I can now execute the next phase of my plan B… to use little Daisy here as leverage."
"Leverage? Leverage for what?" Alex demanded.
"Leverage for a deal of course," Grace responded with a smirk. "Here it is… You make your boss Jerry give back my Aunt and I'll give you back Clover's sister and spare you. For now anyways. Sounds like a pretty good deal, doesn't it?"
The spies looked at each other. Clover on the other hand looked like she was on the verge of having a meltdown.
"You have a lot of nerve, using my sister like that," Clover snarled at the evil young woman holding Daisy captive. "And doing it on my birthday on top of that!"
Grace shrugged, "What can I say? I do what I have to do to succeed."
"Yeah, well guess what, lady?!" Clover said in anger. "The only way this ends is me getting my sister back and taking you down!"
"Wow, I've never seen Clover this steamed," Sam whispered to Alex.
"Honestly, who can blame her right now?" Alex whispered back.
Grace chuckled, "Oh, you're hardly in a position to make threats."
"Wanna bet?!" Clover said, shaking angry.
Clover whipped a bigger looking laser lipstick gadget out of her pocket and used it to shoot a laser at which knocked Agent Beta's laser gun gadget out of his hands.
"What the…?!" Grace said in shock.
Clover then ran up at high speed and gave a few swift kicks and punches to Grace and Agent Beta which knocked them away from Daisy.
"Word of advice, Grace…" Clover spoke with a smirk. "You talk too much."
"Way to go, Clover!" Alex cheered.
Clover then noticed the rest of Grace's goons aiming their laser gun gadgets at her. But Sam, Alex and the other spies jumped in front of them.
"We'll take care of these goons, Clover," Sam informed the blonde fashionista. "You free Daisy."
"Thanks, Girls," Clover said with a thumbs up.
While Sam, Alex, Blaine, Britney and Stella fought off Grace's goons, Clover ran over to Daisy and carefully used her smaller laser lipstick gadget to cut through the ropes holding Daisy to the chair. She also took the gag off of Daisy's mouth.
As soon as Daisy was freed, she leapt at her big sister and gave her a big hug.
"Thanks for coming to rescue me, big sis!" Daisy said, her voice weeping with happiness.
Clover returned the hug, "Anytime, Daisy. But we're not out of the woods yet."
Clover looked around before she glanced upward and saw an open window below the ceiling.
"We'll have to get out through there," Clover pointed out.
Meanwhile, Alex was so busy knocking down two goons that she failed to notice another bigger looking goon sneak up on Alex before he pinned her to the ground.
Alex struggled in the goon's grip, "Ugh, let go of me!"
Suddenly, the goon was knocked off of Alex by Britney who jump-kicked him right in the face knocking him out.
Britney held a hand out to Alex.
"You alright, Alex," Britney asked with concern for her fellow spy.
"I'm fine, thanks, Britney," Alex said in appreciation.
"How are we gonna get up there?" Daisy asked.
"With my expandable cable bungee belt," Clover explained. "Stand back."
Clover stepped back and aimed at the window before her belt buckle launched a cable up to the window and grabbed onto the edge.
"Wow, awesome!" Daisy exclaimed.
"Alright, Daisy, climb up on my back and hold on tight," Clover ordered her sister.
Daisy nodded before climbing up and grabbing onto Clover's back. Clover then started to use the belt to climb up to the window.
Agent Beta had regained consciousness and noticed Clover and Daisy trying to escape out the window.
"Oh, no you don't," Beta said under his breath. He grabbed his laser gun gadget and aimed it at Clover and Daisy.
"Don't even think about it," Stella's voice was heard.
Beta looked to see Stella charged up to him before she slugged him right in the face knocking him out.
"No one messes with my daughters and gets away with it," Stella said firmly.
But Stella soon noticed two more goons aiming laser gadgets at her.
"Look out!" Blaine shouted.
He ran over and delivered a few swift kicks and punches knocking the two goons out.
"Thanks very much, Blaine," Stella said in appreciation.
"My pleasure," Blaine said with a smile.
Grace had regained consciousness and looked up to see Clover and Daisy climbing out the window. Grace growled in anger. She refused to let herself get defeated this easily.
