This is season 2 of my Fic: An Assassin's Adventure: The Great Conjunction. Please consider reading Hit's tale, if this is your first time coming across it :) The first season was all uploaded in around two weeks, so I'll try and do the same here for the first half of season 2.

Chapter 45: Reflection
Night fell onto Twilight Manor as the Loki Familia's festivities died down for the day, having successfully celebrated their newest member's breakneck rise into high-rank status with alcohol and dancing aplenty.
Moonlight cascaded from the heavens and flooded onto the castle towers, and through an open window, bathing the room within in a white-blue glow. The space was relatively barren of personal possessions, apart from a tattered rucksack and beloved notebook: two cherished items placed atop a wooden table. A rhythmic movement was the only sign of life inside as someone rested atop a comfy double bed, hands behind their head. The individual's chest rose and fell as they breathed softly while looking upwards at the ceiling, their purplish locks swaying in a soothing breeze. This was Hit: the Loki Familia's newest recruit and the second person to break Ais Wallenstein's rank-up record of one year.
Hit held a relatively serene expression as he rested and recuperated from his lengthy expedition on the middle floors, and cataclysmic battle against Goliath. He huffed to himself and stretched, thinking deeply on his past, present, and future in this universe.
'Finally, I'm making some actual progress in regaining my lost abilities. It was the correct decision to come to Orario... And this Familia is not so obstructive.'
It was incredibly fortuitous that Hit had transmigrated into someone so close to the dungeon city, likely the only place in the world that was of any real interest to him. The Familia that he had carefully selected was also far less restrictive than initially thought, and its members had not hindered his movements in the dungeon nor on the surface. If they had, Hit would have needed to recommence searching for another deity to join: an overly annoying task. Sure, Finn and Gareth had given out various orders, but these had loopholes or could simply be ignored, regardless of the ire that this would elicit. Hit would never be chained down; however, his icy heart was beginning to thaw, heated by gestures and interactions previously alien to him.
The teen smiled to himself as various familiar faces flittered through his mind. 'How have I become acquainted with so many people in under two months? Such a feat would have been impossible in my previous life...' The smirk fell into a cautious frown as cold calculation took over. 'I must be careful not to grow too soft. Who knows what the future holds... There may come a time when these bonds will need to be… severed.'
Regarding the immediate future, Loki had abruptly announced that she, and every other female Loki Familia member, would be going on a celebratory trip to Melen, a lakeside town to the southwest of Orario. Many of the male members had protested being left out (and being deprived of seeing the Familia's beauties in swimwear); however, Loki had excused her selfish decision by stating that the guild required half her members to remain in Orario for safety reasons. Hit was not buying the pitiful excuse. 'Obviously, the perverted deity simply desires all the women to herself.' The goddess' excessive drooling and depraved expression were not the result of the vast quantity of alcohol that passed her thin lips. At least there would therefore be less nuisances around the mansion; however, a small part of Hit would miss teasing Ais and sparring with Tiona.
As for what the girls would be celebrating: Tiona; Tione; and Bete had ranked up to level 6, a huge boost to the familia's strength. Hit had also heard whispers that Lefiya had the opportunity to rank up; however, this had been postponed for unknown reasons. 'Perhaps the little elf still needs to gain more excelia, or improve her development ability? I cannot think of any other reasons for her choice. Is ranking up therefore not facilitated by possessing higher basic abilities? And how exactly is this trip a reward for the wolf's level up? Ah... perhaps being away from the nuisances of this city is reward enough... It seems that he and I share some similarities.' Hit shivered at the unwanted thought.
Speaking of level ups, Hit was now the most recent Familia member to gain a level. He could still feel newfound strength coursing through him, soothing any aches from his weeks underground. Heightened senses were now further controlled and focused, preventing him from becoming overloaded with sensory information, or hearing some of the Familia member's nightly... activities. The sounds of a squeaking bed and loud moans had been more than enough incentive to necessitate a hasty meditative session.
Hit was still not absolutely certain how far he had leapt in power; however, he would approximate this newfound strength and dexterity to be that of a level 3's: a drastic increase that was only possible due to Hit's initial head start in power. Unfortunately, his Magic energy pool was only around a level 2's; and endurance was lower still, conferring him the durability of a high level 1 to low level 2. It was only natural, and he did not care too much about the lagging ability. Hit had always lacked durability and the falna was simply reflecting this aspect of his soul: he is and will always be a glass cannon of the highest order.
.
In fact, without time skip, many of the strongest tournament of power participants would have dealt with Hit relatively easily. Being manhandled by Dyspo, at least until Hit had discovered how the rabbit-eared trooper was detecting his time skip, was rather embarrassing and opened Hit's eyes even further to his overreliance of the technique.
.
Upon ranking up, Hit also came to another conclusion: the advantage provided by his head start had likely run out, due to the stupendous leaps a rank up conferred here.
'I underestimated that deity's power. Such a jump in strength...it completely obliterates any of my own leaps. What exactly has changed about me? Did she confer arcanum to my soul?'
Hit was now fairly certain that he could not bridge the gap to level 4 using training alone, and the initial boost in strength would become less significant with future rank ups, providing diminishing returns. Still, his initial training was fully worthwhile and provided him with the greatest martial arts style and body fluidity in this world.
'If I were to summarise my progress thus far, I achieved level one power using my training regimen and by unlocking this body's pointless restraints. The falna then allowed me to rise to the heights of a level two via perpetual battle; and, finally, this newest rank up has elevated my raw strength to that of a level three. Essentially, my training conferred a free level up to most of my basic abilities...'
Additionally, raw power was not Hit's only recent development. He smiled to himself as he sensed within his soul, detecting a pool of latent time energy, one accrued for use within the Tides of Time. Unlike Time Skip, this skill had no time limit and could be maintained, providing that Hit possessed stored time energy. However, this was also its downside, as the ability to create an entire subspace dimension is immensely energy consuming, particularly when opponents/objects are drawn into it. Any form of resistance from imported enemies would require Hit's mental fortitude and visualisation to work overtime to maintain the dimension field. Therefore, the technique is best suited for avoiding strikes and dealing unseen deadly energy attacks, known as time releases. Therefore, the advantage of possessing no time limit was not too great, since there was no point in keeping the technique up for immense lengths of time. Other nuances would need further testing in this universe, such as skipping within the tides of time. After all, separate dimensions could operate under entirely different rules here.
'I wonder if the ability truly operates in the same fashion as in my past life. How can the falna emulate such a powerful technique? Or has the ability always been within me?'
There was only one way to truly counter Hit when he was safe within the Tides of Time: to forcibly enter the plane by emitting a tremendous amount of raw energy, with the intent to shatter through dimensions. Such a reality defying feat was restricted to beings whose very life force eclipsed that of entire universes, foes that Hit had not encountered thus far in this new realm. Hit scratched his chin, hope blooming within him. 'That feat should be impossible here... Although, I cannot be absolutely certain that someone does not possess the ability to manipulate space to such a degree. That eastern warrior, Mikoto, was capable of creating a gravity singularity at level two using magic alone, even if she was unaware of its intricacies...'
Hit's time release against Goliath had used up a hefty amount of his reserves, mostly due to Hit not holding anything back in his final fate-destroying strike. Thankfully, his energy pool was not as pitiful as it could have been, mostly due to repeated use of time skip during meditative training; however, it would still need some time to be at a comfortable level. 'It's best not to over rely on it yet. Emergency use only from now on.'
Satisfied with his current position, Hit's mind became blank for the first time in years and a single question bounced around within it, unanswered. "Now what..."
.
..
...
'Should I simply continue diving in the dungeon, steadily growing stronger? I have no real reason to trouble myself with anything else...' It was not a poor strategy, and continually delving within a pit of monsters would gradually strengthen Hit. This was the most logical and simplest solution to Hit's goal: to grow stronger.
However, there was an incredibly painful thorn in Hit's side, and a number of burning questions that necessitated answers. Regardless of how hard Hit tried, he could not stop thinking of Naga and Hugo, nor of their shadowy organisation: Evilus. This was the first time in Hit's life that he had allowed a target, official or not, to escape his grasp. Sure, the two criminals had been in Rivira's custody and were not Hit's responsibility; however, he was the one who found them first; he was the one who began their questioning; and part of him viewed the two as his responsibility, regardless of what Finn Deimne asserted. Hit had always worked alone and so was not at all used to pushing his responsibilities onto others, making this a natural feeling.
'This is not the type of problem that simply disappears; it is a cancer that will fester and metamorphose everything around it. These types of organisations bide their time, preparing multiplex nexuses of schemes to carry out their goals... But what is their aim, exactly? What is Evilus? Where have these leeches been hiding?'
The man was largely apathetic to the maelstrom of illegal dealings that transpired within this vast city; however, Naga's disappearance had carved a wound into Hit's very being, a scar that was now spreading throughout his aura of self-worth as he pondered on the implications of her escape, something that the assassin had never had to trouble himself over. Hit's mind flittered back to his two cloaked captives on the 18th floor, and their macabre cargo. 'My pride as an assassin will not allow me to forget about that woman's existence. Nor of the "gift" that she left for her jailers to find. Or was that mutilated corpse meant for me? As a twisted performance to show her superiority over her captor? That regardless of my previous actions, she was still able to murder that boy... That I could not ascertain her goals, nor unmask her masters… That my actions had no true impact... That I failed.'
Hit scowled and tightened his fists beneath his head, thinking deeply on what little he knew of his previous prisoners. 'Hugo and Naga, members of a well-known band of thieves. I will need to research their bounty, and family records. The guild should possess all the information, as usual.'
Naga's disappearance was still a mystery to everyone who knew of her detainment. It should have been impossible. Goliath's rampage had caused landslides and cave-ins at every exit and entry to the 18th floor, yet she had somehow escaped. Not even Hit's precious rucksack had been able to flee the floor in the gale force winds: every living thing and inanimate object had been trapped in a nearly airtight space, locked in with the irregular titan. 'There must be a hidden exit on floor 18, one concealed with a powerful magic, skill, or ability unknown to me. There is still so much to learn here...' Hit's despondency was undercut by a sense of excitement: he would be going on his first mission in what felt like an eternity. Hit would be his own client this time, so he could act how he pleased.
'No matter where you hide, I will find you, and I will exterminate you. Underground; underwater; in the heavens; in the vast vacuum of space: there has never been a target that I could not locate. Your days are numbered. Tomorrow is a day of research and preparation, and the first day of your demise.'
Hit finally let his honed body relax for the night, his eyelids fluttering closed, and allowed any worries to twinkle away into stardust...
The next day, Hit awoke feeling fit as a fiddle and dressed himself in his grey casual clothing, consisting of a long-sleeved shirt and trousers; and covered it in his electrum chest plate. Mary's tattered backpack, empty save for bundles of herbs, was pulled onto his back; and damaged heavy boots were slipped into place.
'I need to replace these... Still, they were a worthy purchase. Without them, my feet would have broken many times during battle.' Ordinarily, such footwear would have protected an adventurer for far longer; however, most adventurers do not use their boots as battering rams, or as braces to absorb damage upon falling tens of metres into unsuspecting monster's faces. It was no wonder that they were falling to pieces!
Hit stroked his hair back, purple locks parting amongst slender fingers, and looked out of the window, noticing that it was far brighter than usual. Based on the sun's position, it was around 8 o'clock in the morning, quite late by Hit's standards. 'I suppose my body needed the rest. I will need to speed up my progress to compensate.' He then got up, pulled his purple gloves into position, and walked up to the door, where he felt a presence was steadily approaching.
*Creak* *Woosh*
As Hit flung the wooden door open, rather harshly, he was greeted by a familiar young man, who was just about to knock on his door; the person's other arm supported a brown package, which rested against their chest. It was Morel, the man that Hit had dumped Naga and Hugo on at the Loki Familia camp, just a few days ago. The poor fellow froze in place and stammered, shaking slightly. "M-Mr Hit! I-I didn't mean to disturb you! It's just that I have a... what I mean to say is..."
"State your business." Hit crossed his arms and looked down at the fellow level 2 adventurer, not having any patience for his eccentricities.
Morel gulped, gathered his courage, and stood straight, looking directly into Hit's eyes this time. The only indication of fear or respect were his eyes, which shook slightly as if they were gazing at a radiant light. "I-I have a delivery for you, a gift from Rivira." The brown-haired man then took the package in both hands and thrust it forward, eager to complete his task.
Hit nodded and took the offered item, carefully removing the brown paper wrapping to reveal a crystal bottle, containing sparkling blue liquid within. The two men's eyes widened at the item, which was easily recognised as extremely expensive and rare liquor. Focusing on the bejewelled neck, Hit saw that a tag fluttered around as he studied the gift. He grasped the card and scanned his eyes over it.
-...-...-...-...-...-...-...-...-...-...-...-...-...-...-...-...-...-...-...-...-...-...-...-...-...-...-...-...-...-...-...-...-...-...-...-...
Heya brat!
Congrats on getting ta level 2.
Ya should find your reward for helping us beat that bastard Goliath in your Familia safe.
Don't worry, I didn't pinch any of it. Andromeda and that blasted blonde elf have me by the balls!
Oh, and the bottle is a little something from my private collection. Don't drink it all at once!
Bors
-...-...-...-...-...-...-...-...-...-...-...-...-...-...-...-...-...-...-...-...-...-...-...-...-...-...-...-...-...-...-...-...-...-...-...-...
Hit chuckled lightly and stretched to the side, placing the exorbitant drink on one of his bedroom's tables. He finished the manoeuvre by closing the door and locking it behind him.
Morel fidgeted awkwardly, but seemed to remember another of his duties. "Oh! And our bookkeepers wanted to speak to you whenever you're free."
"Appreciated." Hit turned and nodded to the man, making an easy deduction that the Familia bookkeepers likely wanted to speak to him regarding a whopping 10 million valis suddenly appearing in his account. He then began to walk away, yet was interrupted in his rude getaway.
"W-wait! I still have a question for you..." It seems that Morel was not finished and walked up to Hit's retreating form.
Hit scowled to himself and turned around, forcing Morel to become even more subdued. 'Why can't these people finish their bothersome statements before I begin marching away.' Hit was of course not considering that his farewells were always incredibly brief and often non-existent. "Speak."
Morel nodded, shakily; and scratched at his hair, suddenly acting embarrassed. "It's actually not from me... it's from Elfy Colette."
Hit's expression was blank for a few heartbeats before recognition graced his face. 'Ah, that is the mage I encountered battling a crystal mantis. A human woman with an incredibly odd name...'
Morel smiled, lopsidedly, at Hit's recognition and continued. "She actually wanted to speak to you about her magic... and how she could grow stronger... Is there any chance you could meet her... for a lesson?" For some reason, Morel was now acting rather saddened, with an undercurrent of jealousy.
Hit shook his head, not seeing any merit to the activity. "No. I will be busy for the foreseeable future. However, tell her to meditate and reflect on herself and her own power; that is how I have improved. However..." Hit's face darkened as he addressed the man more sternly. "I would consider your teamwork to be her downfall. Improve that first."
Morel backed away as Hit's intimidating presence deepened. The pale-faced teen spoke hastily, eyes wide. "O-of course! W-we've had a few meetings, and we're studying how to face rarer monsters now, not just the commons! E-Elfy's even practicing some swordsmanship and hand-to-hand combat to cover her weaknesses! ...S-She seems inspired."
Hit's scowl did not waver, signifying that his high standards were not yet achieved. "Good. Although, your first measure should have been implemented long ago. Always expect the unexpected." Hit then extended his right arm forwards, forcing Morel to raise his own hand to meet it in a handshake.
"R-right! We'll do our best!" Morel nodded; his feelings of shame washed away by appreciation for Hit's wake up call. Their group had risen to level 2 now; there was no time for slacking off!
Hit disengaged and slipped his hands away into grey pockets, before traipsing down the corridor, out of sight.
.
..
...
Once Morel was alone, he sighed and shivered to himself. Somehow, it felt like he had just spoken to an even deadlier man than during their last interaction: power exuded from every inch of Hit, and his gaze held more gravity. It as if the solemn boy now had a higher purpose... a mission above them all.
"That guy's even scarier than the last time we met! And that's saying something... No way is he a level 2 like me." Morel shook his head, feelings of pity and vexation welling up as a crestfallen grimace. "Oh, Elfy... Why couldn't you have gone for an easy-going guy... Wait..."
Morel felt an uncomfortable sensation in his right hand. The man looked down, into the hand that he had subconsciously raised, and noticed that it now held the brown packaging that enclosed Hit's parcel. "That wasn't a handshake! He was just leaving me with his trash!"
Unexpected, indeed.
Author's Notes
Hello, everyone! I'm back again with another series of chapters. I'm going on holiday soon, so wanted to get this out of the way.
This series contains around the first half of season 2 (minus a final excursion that can be tacked on later/while on holiday). I have decided to split season 2 up since I'm writing it more slowly this time. First half is around 60K (now) and may hover around 70k when finished.
Please let me know whether the quality has gone down since my first season! Writing seems less fluid now so I'm wondering if it's not as good. I may also forget a thing or two, so please let me know. Writing is still just as fun, but I just feel more tired for some reason. I think it's because I have less support now and the story is diverging more from canon. This is a very Hit-centric first part where he embarks on a disruptive 'adventure'.
In case you didn't see, I have also uploaded another story, which focuses on the OVA of season 1. It's Hit's Hot spring Paradise! That was great fun to write!
As always, this is a hobby of mine and there is no guarantee that it will be finished. However, it's one of the only things that brightens my day, so I'll keep having fun with it.

Reviews
Thank you all so much for all the reviews! Glad everyone, bar one, enjoyed it. Also nice comments on wattpad and Ao3.
I think I tried to reply to some here, but PMs don't seem to be working on ff net. I don't receive notifications for anything nowadays. I'll go from first to last uploaded. Hopefully, your names are spelled correctly.
1. SubwayS9
Glad you found it entertaining, and that the character's are believable! He will get a number of new time-related abilities, with his next one in part 2 of season 2, then in season 4 for the big one(s).
2. Marshal Barachiel
Sorry, but Hit is 'nerfed' in this story. He is transmigrated into a human body and has to undergo a series of personal growths. This story was written as a way for me to enjoy myself, and I enjoy stories of growth where individuals go from nothing to universe-shaking (in a believable way). Dragon Ball itself is a perfect example of this.
Anyway, I think that if Hit even moved a micrometre at hundreds of times the speed of light, in this universe with entirely different physics, he'd obliterate the planet instantly. Maybe I'll do a little what if where that happens. Yeah, it could start with Hit destroying the planet, him feeling guilty whilst floating in space, and finally the Gods raining hellfire onto the guy. Thanks for giving me that idea.
3. Savitar3445
:)
4. Temsem
Yep. The magic lesson was particularly eye-opening for him.
Perhaps, but Eina would likely know about the hard armoured and mantis by then. More likely a failing of my story. But, yes, Hit may have thought that Eina wouldn't have believed him. The skill is an immediate means of demonstrating his strength to her. By this point, Hit was getting very impatient with the process of entering the dungeon (legally).
Thank you for the correction! I think I fixed it on my 3 platforms. I'll also remaster everything when I'm finished fully or in the distant future.
5. S1m0nWr1t3
No problem :)
6. Njpelite
Thank you for your kind words :)
7. Keiser
Thank you for understanding, and I hope you like this part too :)
8. Rubia97
Me too :)
9. Zabaniya
Glad you liked it :) I think this part will interest you, considering your final sentence.
No, Hit won't be mentoring Bell much, if at all, from now on. Bell is on his own path to strength, and Hit respects this. The best way for the boy to learn is via the path of life. I think I continued to diverge from Bell's shadow in this. Hit has his own life and it flows alongside everyone else's in a, hopefully, natural manner.
10. Guest 1
Toriyama will live on in all our hearts and creations.
11. Guest 2
In a way, I suppose. This part contains an ability where Hit is reminded of Goku/draws inspiration from him.
12. E?
Not sure who this is, but your name appears as E for me. No link to profile or guest...
Anyway, thank you so much for your glowing review :) I hope you enjoy this season part as well.
Yes, I mainly began this as I hate harem slop and wanted something new. I could ignore the theme at first, but it makes me die inside now. I don't hate harems, but make the girls/guys interesting, and don't dump them on the MC in one fell swoop. Mushoku Tensei is one of my favourite animes, despite having a harem, as every girl is fully fleshed out in the story. Also, don't take this as me loving everything about Rudeus. He is a character with flaws, aka: a normal human. Well, minus the noncy moments before he died. That's vile. Nevertheless, growth is a huge part of MT, and Rudeus becomes a whole new man by the end.
13. revet102
Happy to serve :)

The author of Olympian God of destruction is actually one of the authors who inspired me to start writing this. The beginning of mine is reminiscent to how Beerus is sent to another world after the TOP.
Reading about Beerus' drunk 'incident' was a tad strange, but I really love his story. The JJK Jiren one is also quite exciting.
15. RedTheVariant
Glad I could defy your expectations :) Not a typical DB crossover, now is it? I put all my love into this.
16. NavyZero8745
-Thank you for all your comments! I am also very proud to have fostered a fondness for Hit in you!
-What were the small gripes you had, other than the vagueness of his dream here + biology? :) I attempted to solidify his desire in this first chapter of season 2, and he'll gradually notice slight shifts later on.
-Perhaps Freya shouldn't be able to perceive Hit's soul, but I wanted her to know of his presence. She's the one who sent the mantis after Hit, and will interact with him directly later on.
-Souls are separate from bodies in Dragon Ball. Exceptional fighters, with pure hearts, get to keep their bodies for training purposes. Vegeta did not keep his body after dying prior to fusion reborn (although I think he has well and truly earned it after the moro arc).
I think we see Raditz keep his body and is dragged into King Yemma's office, but that is likely filler.
-Yes, Hit's knowledge of Ki control aided him immensely in manipulating this new energy known as magic.
-Very protagonist worthy. He is the king of evolutionary growth mid-combat.
-Yep, Loki is a lesbian in Danmachi. Poor Lefiya gets fondled by her a number of times, and the God displays a strong desire to savour the bodies of her female familia members.
-Subliminal Time Skipping is a pseudo-ultra instinct, albeit far more dangerous and only automates the initiation phase.
-I don't know if Hit has a sexuality, so we can only speculate. He's probably had to sleep with individuals prior to assassinating them. That's a very good way of getting someone to lower their guard. Nevertheless, I really don't think love is on Hit's mind right now. I wouldn't be very interested in romance, if I was flung to an entirely new planet. At least not for a few years.
17. yrlastin
Thank you for the correction :)
I sent you a PM, but agility and endurance work differently in Danmachi. Endurance relates to the 'tankiness' of characters (e.g.: Gareth has high END). I understand that that is not what endurance means, but durability is endurance in this system. I may be wrong though, as I am using the wikis and other sites for aid at times.
18. GodFearingSchizoid
Thank you :) Good it feels believable, that's very important for me. I think the relatively low amount of attention is due to me uploading it in quite a short time-frame. However, if it got more attention, that might bring about negative reviews. This small group of fans is enough. :)
19. JensenDaniels32
-Last, but certainly not least, is quite an important individual. You are the writer of the first negative review that I have received thus far. Unfortunately, it is not too constructive, so I cannot learn much. However, I am glad you left it! I am sorry that you did not enjoy my story and, I must admit, that the reviews sting a little, since I am a sensitive person. However, what saddens me the most is that I could not provide a story that could make you happy.
A) Review 1: "So you're stripping him of his power...yeah no. I may skim the next chapter, but beyond that, I probably won't read anymore of this ever."
Thank you for at least continuing and giving it a chance. Sorry that it wasn't to your liking later on. However, I, and the grand priest, did state that this would be a reset. The grand priest's warning are for Hit and for readers who want Hit to keep his powers, and original strength, throughout.
B) Review 2: "Okay, I take it back. I'm interested now."
:)
C) Review 3: "So weak...this sucks!"
:(
Let's see why you changed your mind. You liked Chapter 4, but chapter 7 'sucks'. I suppose chapter 4 had Hit arriving at Orario, so you were looking forward to him finally entering the dungeon. I don't know why you don't like chapter 7... Hit, as an unblessed human, beats a minotaur. That is an incredible feat. Is that still too underpowered for you? The struggle is the best part...
D) Review 4: "I was expecting Hit to fight an epic battle with the actual Goliath, not some minotaur. Don't hype Hit up so much if you're not going to make him live up to it, author!"
Oh, you wanted him to fight Goliath! Wow... I find it quite intriguing that you wanted Hit to descend to the 18th floor during his first dive. He will fight Goliath later. David and Goliath is simply referring to the underdog position that Hit is in. This title also encompasses Hit's first and last experience in the dungeon in season 1: underdog against Minotaur and loses, underdog against Goliath, but wins due to not going at it alone.
E) Review 5: "I thought he wasn't going to get power from the Gods."
Plans have a habit of falling apart. I think I also described Hit's reasoning.
F) Review 6: "You know, he could just train a few more years to get stronger on his own instead of relying on a deity."
Hit is in a human body and the deeper monsters are simply too difficult for an unblessed human to handle. The falna's power should not be underestimated. Hit's initial training unlocked every bit of power from his human body, including that supressed by his CNS. I suppose that a few years may unlock his time skip or unrelated skill, but these abilities require a change in mindset to arise in the Danmachi universe. You cannot make immense leaps in power by grinding away in this world. I could definitely see a story where Hit attempts this though. Could be very interesting!
G) Review 7: "Sucks!"
Why? Is it that he loses to Ryuu? Conflict and strife are big parts of this story.
H) Review 8: "Or not. This weakness is annoying, though."
Why is it annoying? The best part of stories, at least in my opinion, is growing past your weaknesses over time. Anyway, it takes decades for normal people in Danmachi to do what Hit does in a couple weeks.
I) Review 8: "It's boring if he isn't OP, not underpowered."
That is a very fine line. However, this makes your reviews even less easy to understand. Hit is incredibly powerful for who and what he is in this universe. Him and Bell are the opposite of underpowered. They are limit-shattering record-holders.
J) Review 9: "And he only goes to the 12th floor! Ugh..."
Yep. Anyone else in Danmachi would take far longer, even Bell, especially prior to his broken ability.
K) Review 10: "Okay, this is boring now, and I'm leaving. Screw this worthless story."
Why is it boring? You never specify this (other than an underpowered Hit).
Also, no story is worthless. No piece of art is worthless. As long as someone enjoyed themselves while making it, the work is not worthless. The word suggests that my love for this piece is worthless, which is incorrect. The comment is needless and serves no purpose.
L) Review 11: "...Why can't I stop reading this "worthless" story?! Why?"
Hit's got you in his icy clutches :)
M) Review 12: "Would be nice if Hit defeated the Goliath as a level 1..."
Not really. That is not the story and growth curve I am describing. What would he be doing in that scenario as a level 4 or 5, who are hundreds of times more powerful than level 1s? I guess he could fight Gods, but that's more fun for later.
N) Review 12: "So he doesn't even get to fight the Goliath...what is the point of Hit even going on an expedition?"
We all know someone who does this when you're watching a movie. It is more fun when events are unexpected and play out before your eyes. You'll just have to see, or not.
O) Review 12: "No, you just nerfed Hit, even as he is now. He as a level 1 should still be able to defeat the Goliath."
-Of course I nerfed Hit. He can destroy universes, so that was always going to be the plan. I understand that you wish for Hit to defeat such a powerful foe at level 1, but it takes time. You will also be displeased later, as Hit will face challenges that he will need to learn from. Goku began as incredibly underpowered for a Saiyan, and lost a number of fights. We love that he never gave up and rose to his current heights after decades of work. Isn't that why we love Dragon Ball? Isn't that why we all respect Goku so much?
-I am struggling to put myself in your shoes. You want to see a level 1 Hit beat a level 5 Black goliath. Why? I just don't see it as entertaining. I hope you find something that entertains you though.
-Look, even if you or I could skip time and were sent to the world of danmachi, we wouldn't get anywhere near as far as Hit does here. He has made progress that takes some adventurers their entire lives.
P) Review 12: "Story...is redeemed."
Yay :) Hit's influence is invincible!
User Review Conclusion
-Stories are not meant for everyone. Specific themes are loved and hated by different people.
-This criticism gives me a chance to check your works out too. Regardless of what I think of them, I will never see them as worthless. They are something that you took time to create, and I'm sure you love them dearly. They are not worthless and neither are you.
-The reviewers on AO3 were initially worried for the opposite reason: Hit was too strong. However, they seemed to grow to enjoy it and the leaps in power are explained.
-I cannot please everyone.
-If you wish for Hit to be 'less underpowered', then please write a story where this occurs! The more the merrier, and you can have fun instead of reading something you dislike!
What does everyone else think? Am I in the wrong here? Is Hit too weak? If the story was mainly focused around skyrocketing powers, then perhaps so. However, this story is more about personal growth and learning from failures.
