Chapter 55: Breaking the Seal

"Return." Zagred closed the cut Yami caused. "That was a splendid cut. Storm of Blades."

"Anything goes with you, doesn't it?" Yami snapped, fending off the sword barrage.

Charla threw out several of her briars, stopping the blades in mid-air.

Zagred dodge Yami's 'Dark Cloaked Avidya Slash', only to have Licht deflect the attack back at the demon.

"I'm amazed you can move around so much when you're basically asleep." Zagred mocked. "Storm of Blades."

"There's no end to this." Yami retorted, the three mages fended themselves from the sword attack.

"I quite enjoy your company." Zagred taunted. "You're so pleasantly annoying that I'm actually enjoying this. To think that having my body and being able to play with magic would make my heart dance with such delight. I thank you. " he then proceeded to open a portal to the underworld.

"This nasty magic..." Yami realized in horror. "He's still..."

"I do apologize, but I'm a completely different being from the rest of you." Zagred chuckled, summoning a flood of underworld creatures from the portal. "From a different dimension, in fact."

Down below...

"What is this..." Patolli was stunned as the creatures descended to them.

Up top...

"Our magic is melting..." Charla gasped, her spell was eaten up by the creature wave.

"Dark Cloaked Black Blade Blunt Sweep." Yami used his extended sword to pull Charla back.

"I guess you won't be able to hold your sword anymore." Zagred bragged, seeing the creature outsurge injure Yami's dominant arm. "It's a spell that devours life. I merely opened the lid on it, but it can no longer be stopped. Not until it devours humans, elves and everything else."

Down below...

"Light Magic: Light Sword of Judgment." Patolli sent out his attack.

"Wind Magic: Tornado Fang." Yuno added in his attack. "It swallowed up our spells?" he frowned.

"Don't let it touch you." Patolli warned, a splatter dropped on his arm. "Run."

"Holy Magic: Holy Field." Freyja shielded Mimosa and Rhya in a barrier of holy magic. "Holy Magic," she then stretched out her cupped palms. "Holy Cannon." she fired a focused beam of holy magic straight at the creature wave.

"This is..." Mimosa activated her 'Magic Flower Guidepost'. "As we thought, there's even more of this eerie magic flowing above us. At this rate, the ones in the other rooms are in danger, too."

"Captain Nozel, assist the others below." Freyja instructed. "Go with him, Mimosa. The rest of us will go up and shut down the gateway."
