"Robert, Cora... I have a question." Lucy asked the older couple as she sat across from them.

Cora smiled warmly. "Yes?"

Lucy took a breath, and glanced behind her to be sure her husband wasn't there. "I know Bobby is not related to you in any way except that Tom is your son in law, but I was hoping you both would consider Bobby a sort of... honorary grandchild?" she paused to observe their expressions. Both their mouths were open a little in surprise. "I know it isn't very traditional, but Tom's parents aren't in the picture. Of course we have my mother, but I know Tom sees you both as parental figures, and it would mean so much to him if you considered our son as a part-"

Robert cut her off. "There is not even a need to ask, dear. That goes without saying. When you married Tom, you became a part of this family. Same goes for Bobby. Tom is our family, and so are you two."

Lucy smiled, tears in her eyes. "Oh, thank you. Tom will be so extremely happy!"
